As a tourist who just came down from the Christo Redentor, hungry and tired, finding Mamma Rosa was like finding an oasis. It’s a short walk from the Trem do Corcovado. Situated above a cafe, Momma Rosa has a lovely terrace that is green, shaded, and bright. They had a large Italian menu, though I would recommend the fresh pastas over the pizzas. Service was friendly, though a little slow. Most others in the restaurant appeared to be locals and the place seemed quite popular, with people ordering apps, drinks, mains, and desserts.

Very delicious Italian restaurant in Rio. Delightfully located in the Laranjeiras neighborhood and very close to the base of the Corcovado. The food is very fresh and surprisingly not too heavy. Service is great. The menu is large and has options for everyone. The tomato sauce is one of the best I've ever had. Save room for the dessert pizza at the end!

Nice food, pretty good artisanal beer.

My wife and I split a Cuban Style Chicken paste and a piece of lemon pie. It was very good.

Delicious Italian place. Very authentic. We loved it. Went there twice, both a big group and just the three of us. Everything we had was delicious and surprisingly for Italian food it wasn't overly heavy.

We completely stumbled upon Mamma Rosa's after walking from the tram of the Christ statue. I can't recall even seeing a sign. The outdoor patio is one floor above street level. The breezes were beautiful on such a hot day. The food is what you expect- nothing gourmet, but excellent simple Italian cuisine. Terrific service too!

Really tasty food, the pasta is close to that of Italy or Argentina in quality and taste.

Go if you don't want surprises. Always good service and good food. Isn't the best Italian food of Rio, but has a cozy and familiar ambient that makes you feel home. Has had better prices, but is still very good option.

Really cute, tucked in little restaurant. The best coxinha I had in Rio! Lunch tasted deliciously homemade, and they offer healthy options. The staff was delighful, beyond friendly and helpful. Very lucky to have found this on our walk out of the Corcovado train from Christ the Redeemer.
