It's the Ritz Carlton. They have a reputation to uphold and they did not disappoint. The place reeks of old money - understated generational wealth. Alot of hotels in this category scream new money with their trendy decor and staff but this place doesn't need to try; it just is. The details scream luxury - turn down service, quality of in-room amenities, staff that knows your name without you having to tell them, plating of food, acknowledgement, but not over friendliness of staff.... this place has it all. The lounge in the hotel lobby is a fabulous place to unwind, grab a bite, or watch the game. Parallel 37 is great for breakfast but shines for private dining. This place is like an oasis in an otherwise somewhat gritty downtown. Five stars consistently!

Well, this is a tale of two hotels really. On the one hand the staff is fabulous, prompt, courteous, and ever helpful. On the other hand the rooms are really cheaply done , small, and look like an airport Marriott in a small city. The place not overly clean either as you can see from the attached photo of a door leading to, I think, a service area. I stayed here quite a lot before Marriott took it over and it was completely different. It is a long, long way from being a flagship or being worth what we paid which was somewhere around 700 a night.

We had a wonderful experience here at the Ritz. The location was nice with having a trolley stop at the corner. We went all out by staying at the club level, which included a full breakfast, and 'eats' for lunch, dinner and evening desserts. Definitely interact with the staff.. the more you do, the more they do. They address you by your name and deliver your favorite drinks and dishes. My thanks go out to everyone there!

Stayed here for two nights. Had high expectations and had those expectations met and often exceeded. Great personalized service. The food offerings were very good and the quality of the food and the setting offered good value, especially in the lounge. The hotel is relatively small, making it a more intimate setting. The room was immaculately clean and comfortable. There were some great custom touches that were greatly appreciated and our 7th floor room had a pleasant city and courtyard view.

“Phenomenal” doesn’t begin to describe this hotel…hands-down, best hotel I’ve ever had the pleasure to stay in. From the front desk to the restaurant staff to the housekeeping team, every person we chatted with was beyond amazing. Helpful, pleasant, engaging, welcoming…we truly felt like we were returning home every time we came back. Location is spectacular, in a great, vibrant neighborhood within walking distance of many top San Francisco tourist attractions. I’d come back in a heartbeat. We had the privilege of staying on the club level, and Rudy, Starsky, Leo, Yvonne, and the team really went above and beyond the call of duty to get to know us and make our stay amazing.

We absolutely Loved our time here. Exceptional service, from the Valet to the front desk staff Mr Gustavson who helped us with an upgrade. One night left, don't want to leave. We stayed 3 nights on the Club Level. I would move in if I could they didn't skip a beat. The room was large, there was a business center on the floor and the service was amazing. We loved spending time in the club where we met other guests and got to know the staff, all very accommodating. An added nice touch: We were celebrating a birthday and they left cupcakes and a card in the room. We will be back.

It gets four stars because the service was good. Otherwise it is a very unremarkable hotel. I’ve been a number of hotels from this brand and unfortunately this hotel is fairly basic. The frontage is very pretty in the air classical, but the lobby is small and uninspired. I checked in around 4:30 PM and only one person was working. The rooms are very basic for a five-star hotel. Everyone seemed nice when I checked in and checked out. I will consider another Hotel if you want some thing impressive in the city.

Truly a wonderful hotel experience. Every staff member was personable, kind, and welcoming from when arrived to when I departed. For whatever reason my Bonvoy status didn't transfer to the reservation and I didn't realize until midway through the stay; after letting the staff know, they offered me a number of additional amenities and upgrades! I even had a zipper on my garment luggage get dislodged during my stay and the front desk had a seamstress come up to me and fix it in 10 minutes! Nothing like top notch Ritz Carlton white-glove service! I will most definitely be back!

What's not to love about a Ritz? San Francisco Ritz is everything you'd expect it to be. The best service you can get, best hotel stay you can get, at the highest prices. In this particular location, the staff is what made our stay so great. Don't forget to tip.

We loved our first stay at the Ritz as a couple, which was for a Conference. The rooms were fantastic...the beds were SO comfortable, the fabrics dreamy, the bathrooms a marble paradise, and yes robes and slippers were provided for your use during your stay. It was a very comfortable and welcoming hotel, and located in a great part of the city that because it is at the top of Nob Hill, the area around it is very safe and not many homeless lining the streets like in other areas of San Francisco. Our favorite part were the beautiful hallways, and that the trolly can be caught very close by. The food and venues for the event here were gorgeous! Enjoyed every luxurious moment!

I had very high expectations and don’t feel like it lived up to its name. The service was excellent, definitely five stars or more - every person addressed me by name from the housekeeper to room service server to bell hop, and each one went above and beyond. Nothing compares to the quality of service from the staff. The building is just gorgeous - all the glitz and glam from the outside (it almost looked like a church, rimmed with renaissance-style sculptures) to the splendid inside. Gorgeous lobby with restaurant, a wine tasting room, and a small perfumery. The perfume shop Krigler was a standout - such friendly staff and I treated myself to an item. However, the room was a bit underwhelming. It was beautifully styled with great decor, but there were minor let downs and lack of the attention to details that I expect from 5-stars. For example, the shower curtain was almost 2 feet too short for the shower, really poorly designed and leaked a lot of water. To make matters worse, it had pink mildew/bacteria on the edges - I’m shocked they didn’t change it. The gowns were thin and rough, not soft and luxe like other 5-star hotels I’ve stayed at. The hangers didn’t have ridges so things kept falling off. Not a lot of counterspace in the bathroom, I barely had room to lay out my toiletries. The room was a bit small and the windows didn’t open - need to call housekeeping just to open the windows and come back to close them. One of the windows was sealed with peeling black duct tape - definitely didn’t expect that type of haphazard makeshift cover up at the Ritz! No full length mirror in the entire room - the only one had a shelf in the middle cutting off the view. There was only 1 USB port and 1 outlet on each bedside - not enough for someone with multiple devices. I asked for a fridge and it was great that they brought one, but it was in bad condition with scratches all outside, like what you’d expect at a 3 star hotel. The food from room service/the restaurant was also underwhelming. The burrata was bland and lacking both salt & pepper, while the bread was burnt and bitter. The charred broccolini was delicious, perfectly balanced acidity, salt, and chili. However, it was deep fried and soaked in oil, which the menu failed to mention and really should have - I was expecting a healthy vegetable side based on the description and got something that was the opposite. This is nit picky but the food was brought out on a very run down tray that was chipped and peeling everywhere. Finally, they charged extra for wifi which is just ridiculous. A hotel like this doesn’t need to be pinching pennies and should include it in the room rate. I had to share my Bonvoy status to get the charge removed. Overall, it is obviously an excellent hotel but I’ve stayed at better ones for the same or lower price. If service is important to you it can’t be beat, but if room functionality is more important there may be better options. I was coming from the Conrad Downtown in New York which in my opinion was leagues above this - I value a well set up and functional room more than staff knowing my name.

To whom it may concern. From valet parking to check in the customer service was horrible. As i am checking in I’m harassed by valet to move my car. From the night manger being disrespectful and cancelling my reservation. To making racist comments saying i clearly don’t belong there and i should stay somewhere else his name is (Jojo Capuchino). As a black man i felt as if i was living back in the 60’s. So i do not recommend this hotel at all. On top of being charged 3 different times. And still waiting on my refund. You guys need to do a better job training your managers and regular employees.

Such a beautiful hotel. So relaxed and quiet amidst the bustle of the city. Really nice staff always ready to help. The room was gorgeous—soft beds and immaculate decor. The bathroom was wonderful. Room was perfect and the view was nice too looking out over Stockton and the trolley cars.

Beautiful hotel and amazing service. We stayed overnight during a trip for our 15th anniversary and all the staff made us feel so comfortable and welcome, it made us feel at home! Everyone goes above and beyond with a special shout out to Aaron and Teresa for going above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Would definitely recommend staying here!

This is a first-class hotel. The rooms are spacious, and the service is excellent. That being said, just bc you're a five-star hotel, it does not give you the right to charge ridiculous prices for some of your food. How on Earth you can justify a $35 price tag for a club sandwich is beyond ridiculous and is just taking advantage of the guest. Would I stay here again? Yes. But that's about it.

If you want to feel like your sleeping in the White House this is the place! What an elegant experience from the Valet parking to the room service and champagne! Let's not forget the view; it was stunning! This will certainly be a honeymoon we will never forget!

My stay at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco was truly exceptional. The hotel delivered an amazing experience in many aspects. Firstly, the location was very good, allowing for convenient exploration of the city. The check-in experience was particularly outstanding, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a warm welcome. Their thoughtful gesture of offering a doll to my little one made her day, and we appreciated the extra effort. Furthermore, I was pleasantly surprised to be offered a complimentary upgrade during my stay at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco, which was an unexpected and delightful addition to the overall exceptional experience. The room was spacious and incredibly comfortable, providing a relaxing and enjoyable space to unwind. Additionally, the view from the room was really good, adding to the overall experience. In summary, my stay at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco was nothing short of amazing, thanks to the excellent location, friendly and thoughtful staff, spacious room, and great views. It was a memorable and delightful experience.

Another great experience at the Ritz. Thank you for a great weekend stay and world-class customer service. Stephanie, Rose, Aaron, and Todd are genuine and exceptional. The rooms are spacious; cleanliness is a priority here, and it shows. I am very picky about bathrooms but not at the Ritz. Ideal for any type of stay or celebration.

We had an amazing stay for Thanksgiving week. Great room on the 8th floor and club level service is very worth it; especially with kids. We also went to the Teddy Bear Tea and it was a festive way to start the Christmas season.

Wonderful, elegant, excellent service, everything Ritz! The orchids at the entrance are exquisite. The Club Lounge was great, staff were very attentive, they have a very large seating area. They provided a full breakfast with several options to select from, for lunch they had quiche, sandwiches, salmon, fresh fruits and desserts. Evening was on point with food options and beverages of choice. The junior suite room was large and quiet with room darkening curtains and a beautiful marble bathroom. It is at the top of China town and a 15 minute walk to Embarcadero but beware the walk back up steep hills. We had Prosecco and chocolate covered strawberries in the room for our anniversary. Overall It was a great hotel to spend time in and I can’t wait to return.

The Ritz service is top notch. Rooms are very nice. However they don’t really care about taking care of their top customers that have the highest status. They don’t allow access to their lounge. They don’t offer free breakfast either. They weren’t even going to upgrade me from 2 queens to a 1 king. The gentlemen at the front desk said they are fully booked and can’t offer me a room on the lounge floor. Then after I told him that I could book a room with a single king, he finally said he found me a room. Take care of your top customers is the one suggestion I have for this and all Ritz hotels.

Pro. Location and service. Everything else was meh at best. It's an old building, and it shows. Lots of paint covering up years of wear and tear. Bed was just okay. A newer generic Marriott has nicer rooms. Lobby lounge is the only dinner option, VERY small menu. Overpriced. Great for dining credits but hard pass if I was spending my own money. I'll stay elsewhere next time and get probably a better hotel and save a lot of money.

WOW. This place is TOP NOTCH. From the moment I booked this room, the staff was extremely helpful and responsive. I booked this for my father so he could celebrate his 4th year anniversary. The Ritz staff went above and beyond to make sure his stay was memorable. Beautiful property, and everything is so luxurious. I am very thankful for this hard working group of hospitality workers who totally went above and beyond. Thank you RC San Francisco!

We had a great stay! My best friend was celebrating her birthday and I’m glad I chose this hotel. The manager, Jason Ellis is very kind and generous. He’s such a star! He goes above and beyond to make every guest happy. As a platinum member with Marriott, this is by far the best stay I’ve ever had.

Came to SF to spend time with our family after my Dad passed (he was from the city). This hotel was lovely and they were lovely to our family. Originally our rooms were not close but Bee at the front desk went above and beyond in order to help accommodate our need to be close during this hard time.

Although the location of the hotel is not the very best, I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel itself is beautiful and feels classy and has modern touches. The room was spacious and clean. We had the opportunity to try out the lobby restaurant, The Lounge, and was very satisfied with the food, although service could have been better. Overall, the staff was helpful and friendly and gave us some good recommendations. We wanted to take advantage of the car service in the evening but unfortunately we were too late to find out that it stops after 9:30 PM. My Amex FHR benefits were honored and a room upgrade was offered. Would be happy to return to this property!
