While the Hotel is fine the advertised price is a lie. Marriott adds a $25 a day "destination charge" for the privilege of using their hotel in San Francisco. This is not a part of the advertised price. They will then tell you that in return for this mandatory fee they will give you a "complimentary" $25 in room service and a few other treats. The problem is they advertise at one price then sneak in a "mandatory fee" with "complimentary" gifts that you do not want. In other words they force you to buy stuff you don't want. I would rather they simply add the mandatory fee into the advertised price and call it a day but they refuse, likely so that they can show a lower price in hotel search engines. All efforts to refuse the fee and its "complimentary" benefits were refused. as I am already in the room I will deal with it as changing hotels would be annoying but I refuse to stay in another Marriott that resorts to these tactics again.

We were in town for the last dead & co shows. We stayed here bc it was easy to get to the airport without a car and it was close enough to the stadium. There were friendly faces opening the door for us as we arrived and every time we left as well. The staff at the front desk was super helpful & so were the staff at the bar & restaurant. The rooms were very clean, updated and fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. I highly recommend this hotel!

This is a great hotel in the union city center. The service was awesome and they were able to easily accomplish our late check in (3 am!). The rooms were clean and they had a great view. Very comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was a bit expensive but was delicious. They were so great for our first stay on our Honeymoon trip!

Overall I liked this hotel. All of the staff I interacted with were helpful and kind. The room was for the most part comfortable and clean. The location was better than I expected - the surrounding streets felt reasonably safe and clean, and it’s walkable to various public transit that worked well (BART and muni from Powell street station, the 45 bus to the Marina & presidio via Chinatown, etc). There were a few things that could have been better: 1. On our first night there I noticed I was getting bug bites in bed. I did not sleep well. The next day I found this live insect in the bed! (See photo) 2. They provided a breakfast voucher due to our Marriott status but didn’t tell us until after we sat down to breakfast that the voucher doesn’t cover all of the items at the breakfast buffet, and then they surprise charged us an extra $20 for the eggs. 3. Our reservation was for a junior suite and they did not honor that and just gave us a regular room. 4. The gym is actually pretty nice (decently well equipped, looks reasonably clean, big windows letting in light) but a lot of the machines were out of order. Neither stationary bike would turn on (the maintenance guy was super nice to take a look at them and try to troubleshoot) and of the 3 ellipticals, 1 was out of order and 1 seemed damaged when I tried to use it.

I came in here to use the ATM in the early morning as this is one of the few locations that happens to be open unfortunately the ATM declined my transaction and I was supposed to call the number as indicated on the screen. However instead of giving me the opportunity to do as I was instructed to the security guard immediately kicked me out of the hotel and told me that Not only was my transaction done I'm not allowed at the hotel. I tried to speak to the manager tell him exactly what happened and instead of letting the manager talk the security guard told me on her behalf that m"y," transaction was done". I hadn't been in the hotel for more than 30 seconds and the first thing the security guard does is kick me out because my ATM card doesn't work on the ATM machine and the error message that I got indicating that I should speak to someone with something that apparently their hotel does not allow. I don't think I have ever encountered a ruder more disrespectful and straight out for lack of better words of a bigger a****** than this man. Props to security Marriott. It just so happens that I work in the area and I used to guide most of my patrons to the great service that was once provided at your hotel. Apparently that no longer exists and for all reasons because the ATM I chose to use asked me to call a phone number. I would like the hotel to know that I will never ever ever recommend anyone to stay here again. Imagine if I actually pulled out that money and booked the room as intended. I can only imagine what kind of service and treatment I would have received

Great location. Club open, nice breakfast. Corner suite spacious and nice. Doorman was awesome. $25 resort charge not great but you get 2 trolley rides and $25 Bar/restaurant credit so it easily pays for itself.

great hotel! very friendly staff. As a mom dragging two young noisy boys around, I am so appreciative of all the kindness people working at the hotel give us. The hot chocolate that my boys get as a special treat during breakfast that lights up their day. Fernando even fixed our stroller for us........This sound silly but I really like the double sliding door with the shower. Very convenient.

Room was very nice, clean and comfortable. They don't tell you but a $25 daily "destination fee" is charged to your card, non optional, and then they "give" you certain things as a benefit for paying them this non-optional fee. Staff has a weird facade of nice that comes across as fake. At 1:08 pm, only 1 person at the front lobby (there are 30 floors in this building!) and a line of people waiting to be helped. I'm waiting in line now waiting for one of my "perks" that only the front desk people can give..... waste of my time....

Good location. Pretty centralized. Rates lower than others closer to the business district. Daily cleaning service. Good breakfast restaurant. Nice people. Lived up to the standards I expected from a Marriott.

Solid, typical, full service Marriott. Nothing fancy / spectacular, but a nice hotel. A tad dated. The rooms are nice, very comfortable & clean. The customer service was very good. The location is great, a couple blocks from Union Square & a 3-4 block walk to all major transit (BART, Muni). Price was decent, at least by mid city San Francisco standard.

The rooms are kind of on the older side. They gave me an update to a corner suite because I have Ambassador status, even though I booked a room with the lowest rate. The view was okay because I thought I could see the ocean, but at last the top floor corner suite did not have an ocean view. The curtains also needs updating as it got stuck behind the television. The room, as a suite was also much smaller than I imagined. Other than the good location there is not much to say about this Marriott branch. The service was good and staff very attentive. But this hotel needs some serious updating.

Amazing worth every dollar. I never wrote a review but this hotel was worth it all. Staff were friendly, clean rooms, very hot water, nice thick towels and etc. Nan I think is the manager and she was very welcoming. This was my first time in SF and experiencing the Marriott did not disappoint.

Small rooms, few amenities, but a great location, only one block from union square and close to BART, public transit, theaters, Chinatown, and North Beach. The restaurant is open only on weekends but their are many options close so this is not an issue. The rooms are small but they are functional and clean. The beds are comfortable. The views are nice on the higher floors. It's a good place to stay if the price is right.

I need to take a moment to brag about how amazing the staff and service has been here!!! While hosting a large meeting here, there were a couple bumps in the road, bumps happen....what makes the difference is the staff going up and beyond the call of duty. Dennis was top notch! Bruno was a pleasure and joy to work with (the kind of manger who takes care of guests and his employees - this is rare gem to find these days!!) . The staff seems to get better each day we are here!! The attention to detail and the effort being put forth has been amazing! I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for top notch service for an event!! We have a room....I'm sure it's amazing...I was in there for about 3.5 hours after setting up for this meeting and coming down to host it....I'm sure the rooms are wonderful...the bed felt like a dream for the 3.5 hours I was in it. Derek the security guard was so friendly and took great care of our area while we weren't in the space. The door men are wonderful! The bell man was so wonderful! And a special thanks to Nicole to helping make our meeting happen here. I will be back for the next meeting in the area happily!!!

Fabulous hotel in the heart of SF. Was a short trip and not my first visit but centrally located and affordable - I will definitely visit again. The staff are so warm and friendly and the view from my room was incredible!

The stay had some issues however I encountered customer service from a General Manager that is from out of this time. Angie Clifton, GM of the Marriott Union Square will work overtime to make sure that a guest is happy and coming back. I almost forgot what customer service and guest satisfaction meant until I had the experience of leaving the property after one night. There was miscommunication between my reservation and the hotel and I was highly dissatisfied. She took the problem and owned it and has made me a believer that there are truly great hotel managers that still exist. I have met some in my life by not lately. Ms. Clifton is truly an asset to the Marriott brand and her style should be copied and emulated.

Hotel rooms are nice, pillows very comfortable. However we were told that the internet was free but we never got connected. Got directed to the not so helpful help desk but they could not get it to work either. In addition, it took five to ten minutes for the picture to show up on TV. Perhaps the hotel should invest in a new router!

This hotel charged me 3 different times for hidden charges. Valet Parking was pretty much mandatory since there are no other options but to park at a nearby parking garage or at a meter along the street ended up about $75 dollars. They claimed we get a complimentary of 2 for breakfast but sticks you with a $65 bill at then for a lousy breakfast style buffet which is only worth $5 at its best since all the food were cold and gross. Another $29 for hidden resort fees. I’m still trying to figure out what the $44 dollars that’s pending on my card is about. This hotel has too many hidden fees and try to be sneaky about all the fees. We had to ask for a microwave to be sent to our room. I’ve never stayed at a hotel that required this. I will never book at this place again! I need to complain about this to consumer affairs.

Best Marriott Stay Ever - Hands Down Every single employee in this establishment went above and beyond for the big things and the little things. I honestly felt like I was at a luxury property with the level of service we received. Me and my colleagues were talking about it the entire trip. A special shout-out to the doormen for always greeting us with a smile, walking us to the trolley and ensuring we knew the right one to get on and holding the umbrella for us as we loaded our luggage into the car in pouring rain. From the moment we stepped on property, to the moment we stepped off, everything was impeccable. I wish every Marriott felt like this.

The staff here is very courteous and the room is quite spacious. They have a big closet space to keep all the suitcases concealed. They are just 1 block away from union Square and have plenty of eateries and shopping places nearby They do not serve lunch onsite however - only breakfast and dinner.

For everyone writing about how expensive this hotel is, then compare it to everything else in San Fran that is remotely close to being a 5 Star Hotel such as this one and one will find this hotel is priced right. Truly exceptional accommodations and glad we stayed 2 days and nights. Some complaints are about the so-called hidden $25 fee and that is advertised well on the Marriott website. Plus you get 2 roundtrip cable car tickets with that, plus a $25 discount in the hotel restaurant, which is quite a good place to eat. Tried other places that were rated 5 Stars and I would have rated them 1 Star at the most. So eating at the Marriott restaurant makes sense. Plus with that $25 fee you get bar discounts as well. Daily parking is $62. If that surprises you then welcome to San Fran. That is the cheapest parking in downtown SF that you can get. I would definitely stay again.

While this hotel had everything I needed for a short work trip to San Francisco (clean room, comfortable bed, nice shower), what made my stay fantastic was Derek the security guard! He is an incredibly kind man that goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcomed and at ease. I sincerely hope he receives the appropriate recognition for the value he adds to this location.

Very comfortable bed and room. Fantastic bay view from an upper floor. Staff were all friendly and helpful and the room was immaculately cleaned and refreshed. The bartender and waiter were also exceptional. Great central location between Chinatown and Union Square, and close to Market St.

Excellent location. Close to everything. Cablecar down to the wharf. Hang out iby the park, go shopping, find a hidden gem around the corner. Get some great food in North Beach or find a closer restaurant. We felt safe I the area with all the security. Excellent staff very friendly and helpful. From the valet to front desk; who was very helpful with questions whilst being very friendly, to the maintenance man who helped us figure out the fridge was unplugged and offered to come back and replace it if it didn't get cool (it worked) or the super friendly housekeeper that was so so friendly and nice asking if we wanted our room cleaned or the bed turned down, we were very impressed. Also the room itself was amazing, awesome views, beautifully appointed, great bathroom with great water pressure, waste conservation (I was pleasantly surprised). This Hotel room is now tied with Marriott Marquis NYC and Marriott in Amsterdam for me. We Loved it! 10 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I highly recommend upgrading to a room with a view. We'll worth the nominal fee.

I am a fan of this Marriott property. Located next to Union Square. Great shopping and restaurants just a short walk away. Rooms are decent size with comfortable beds, this room has a lounge chair and a mini fridge. First time I stayed i had a great view of Union Square, this week a really nice view of the bay, Coit Tower and part of Alcatraz. There is a restaurant downstairs. Great fitness room too.
