This place was amazing for the price. We had a few problems that were quite minor. Firstly, the bathroom light was motion sensor so every time you used the shower or toilet it would shut off and you would have to touch the light or move around a bunch. As well, the valet parking is 58 dollars which was a little much but that was my bad for not double checking and we found a parking garage one block down. The only other problem was the breakfast. They had some cereal, toast, and muffins and that’s it and you have to walk to another hotel to eat it. Other than these three things it was a wonderful experience. The staff were very helpful and your key unlocks the front door. It was very comfortable and had enough room to fit my million bags. The elevator was super nice and had a vintage feel. They had free coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and water. It had hot water and a great amount of towels. They also cleaned our room very nicely and left our personal items alone which I appreciated. I will definitely recommend this hotel to others.

I've been here twice - cute and cozy rooms, most with a fireplace. Great breakfast and late night wine which is all free, free water and soda as well which is great. Location is amazing. 4 stars ONLY BECAUSE you can only check in at 3pm, however they will store your belongings safely while you wait and explore.

Positive: The city hotel is very centrally located on Bush Street with the reception on the mezzanine floor and a longer straight corridor to the rooms. My room was quite spacious, very clean, with classic older furniture. The WiFi worked very well, the bathroom was well maintained and overall my room was clean, bright and friendly. A good complimentary breakfast is served two doors down at the White Swan Inn. All in all, I felt very comfortable here. Some (minor) negative points: My secretary's drawers were a little stuck. In an alley next to the hotel, it got temporarily noisy on Friday evening.

We love this hotel! Although the hotel is old, it doesn’t feel old in a bad way. It feels vintage with a unique atmosphere and beautiful setup. In-room fireplace is just great! Staff is extremely nice and amenities can’t get better. Highly recommend!

What a great boutique hotel! Excellent service and delightful charm! Also, the location is very central and in a safe location (it was a mother-daughter trip this time). The only reason for a 4-star rating on the room (we had a normal queen room) was the noise level. If you are sensitive to noise, know that it is an older hotel (very clean & well done!), but you can hear when the neighbors shower started and some talking. Overall, this didn't bother us as the accommodations and service were excellent! Plus, if you like an "old fashioned" elevator, you are in for a treat.

This hotel is beautiful for people who like quite and cozy hotels. The room has an fire place, good size room and bathroom. Everything were perfect clean the room and the social areas. In the partner hotel next side they offer wine and cheese every afternoon, that is really amazing. The location on Bush street is perfect. I highly recommend this place. We were there around 20 of January.

Great little hotel, walking distance to a lot of areas. Great atmosphere and fun breakfast provided each morning along with snacks and drinks in the evening. Smash comfortable rooms and general cozy atmosphere. Kind of a European feel to everything. Staff was also responsive to requests made while we were staying. Would absolutely stay here again.

Such a cute hotel with great staff. Very clean rooms, great location, and great breakfast. It’s an old hotel with and old French feel which is a very warm and cozy atmosphere. The dining room is great to sit and read by the fireplace. A great experience!

Cozy hotel in convenient location. Our room had a fireplace! A nice touch. Hotel has a nice parlour to relax in. Provides complimentary beverage / cold drinks throughout the day. Breakfast was good too.

Such a lovely spot. Every desk clerk was so welcoming and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable, and delightfully cozy. I was surprised with the romance package, and their rose petal and bubbles situation was top notch. Breakfast was nice - good selection for whatever your tastes are. And the evening wine & snacks was fun to meet other guests. I'd say this was the best possible combination of hotel/bed& breakfast.

This is a cute little hotel in a clean and convenient location. Check in was easy and the staff is wonderful. Rooms are large and ours had a fun gas fireplace which was lovely and beautiful windows. The king sized bed was comfortable. It is an old structure and so there are creaks and slanted floors, as you'd expect with any older building, but it's quaint. The little touches like a coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar open to guests or complimentary snacks in the evening are great. As it's right in the city it is a little loud at night, but not too bad. The Continental breakfast was very good, with delicious croissants and pastries.

My husband and I went twice and stayed in the fabulous hotel. The breakfast was great. The fireplace was perfect. The area is great. The afternoon wine and cheese is yummy. Oh and the cookies around 4:00 are so good. I can’t say enough about this place. San Francisco was a bucket list for me and this hotel just made it perfect. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else. This place is a jewel for sure. 😍

This place is a hidden gem. Make sure you get the room with the fireplace as the room if very roomy. We had room 26 at the far end of the hall. This place is very secure and the staff is exceptional friendly and helpful. They offer a daily wine and cheese platters which is very good, even if you are not a big wine drinker like me. But the wife really liked it. We did not get a chance to try the breakfast. The floors do creek on your floor and above you but it is so worth the stay and the price. There is also a trolly stop two blocks from the hotel. We will for sure return.

We loved our stay at this San Francisco charmer. They’ve done a great job maintaining the historic significance, starting with the door and swing-gate elevator entrance. Our room was ample sized with wallpaper of the period, a beautiful antique desk and armoire, with our favorite animal complimenting the various pieces — an elephant lamp, elephant knobs. Breakfast at their sister property next door in front of the fireplace was a great start to the day. And the service was truly exceptional.

My wife and I had a great experience with the hotel. Very accommodating and helpful. Could not have been better. The Guest Services were outstanding. Located on Bush Street in San Francisco easily walkable to many other neighborhoods and destinations. The Front Desk Staff were exceptional. We highly recommend this hotel.

Petit Auberge was charming and cozy; the staff welcoming and very accommodating; it also is in a great location and offers lovely perks. The communal living room with fireplace was especially lovely. We even extended our trip a day so we could stay longer. Relaxing visit and we will return!

Very nice and clean hotel with beautiful decoration and interior in French/ old European style. The staff was very helpful and kind and responded quickly on our messages and helped us stall the bike in our room. We loved the Wine and nibbles hour. we met other hotel guests there. The breakfast was good.

We stayed for one night in Petite Auberge and I would highly recommend the hotel. It is centrally located, beautiful quaint interior and very helpful staff (Jasmine was amazing). Came in tired after a long flight from Auckland and Jasmine was accommodating in providing my a children a room quickly for them to rest.

Our trip to San Fran was part of our joint birthdays + anniversary celebration. We absolutely loved our stay at the Petite Auberge. This hotel was even better than I’d expected - so full of character and such a lovely cosy place (photos don’t do it justice!). We’re so glad we stayed here rather than in a characterless standard hotel. Location meant we were within easy reach to everything and could walk to many places. Even the shower over bath was bliss. We enjoyed breakfast as well as the fab wine & snacks in the evening. All the staff we met were super helpful & friendly. Thank you for such a perfect stay - honestly one of our favourite places we have stayed in all our travels:)

Staff were friendly and welcoming, atmosphere was perfect, everything was clean/safe. We stayed in the Petite Suite, and enjoyed the secluded outdoor sitting area, the gas fireplace, and the classy room decor. The jetted tub was very nice. The location absolutely can't be beat. They also provide complimentary bottled water, seltzer and sodas which you can replenish without feeling awkward. Over all a wonderful experience for our celebration!

We have stayed here twice and enjoyed it both times. It has a lot of charm if you like that old school vibe. The included breakfast is nice and the happy hour wine and cheese is a great treat. Nice staff.

I love Petite Auberge. This is a homey hotel. It is a bit old: walls are coverd with tiny flower wallpaper, old wooden furnitures etc reminding a clasical old european hotel but I found that it is part of its charm. We had a huge room with a sofa and an armchair in front of the fireplace. The bed was soft and comfortable. The friendly reception staff was very helpful. Every day at 05:00 pm Wine of your choice, cheese and crackers are served free. It is a nice idea and a great aportunity to meet people from all over the world. Breakfast was just enough for me. Fruits, granolla, yogurt, boiled eggs, bread, patiseries, coffee, tea and orange juice.. 24/7 free coffee, tea, watter and soda. The location is great. For 3 days we walked everywhere.

Very disappointed by the hotel management staff. We have booked two nights in 2020 that have been cancelled due to COVID-19, and at that time, the hotel reassured us that we’ll be able to book a room back while coming to the US. It is happening now but the staff is unresponsive for 2 months. On the phone, they promise to come back to us - unsuccessful. And by email, one manager answered saying « no credit card charged » but they did, and since then, no news despite many emails… highly disappointing for an hotel of this standard…

I had I wonderful stay here, the service ambiance and all around was an amazing visit. They were super helpful and friendly always making sure our needs were met. Upon leaving I have had a completely opposite experience, I left a pair of shoes in the lobby when the concierging our luggage before leaving. My mistake I did not double check all of our stuff and left a pair of shoes. For the past week now I have called trying to track down these boots and even had a friend from the city go ask about them as well. They have been more unhelpful than ever and it almost feels as they are hiding something. Super disappointed that they are treating the lost and found as they have been. Would highly recommend staying here, just make sure you have all your stuff, because if not you probably wont see it again!

Everything about Petite Auberge made it such a memorable place to stay. From the friendly front desk staff to the antique French elevator, the complementary wine and snacks in the evening, cozying up in front of the fireplace in our room at the end of a long day of exploring, then waking up to a delicious complementary breakfast the next day- this place really makes you feel special! It is worth it to spend a little more on a room with a fireplace, we used ours a lot and it was so nice to be able to flip it on after being out on a chilly day. If we are ever back in San Francisco we will definitely stay here again or at its sister hotel the White Swan Inn. And we will be telling all of our friends and family to do so as well!

A great place to stay in San Fran. The decor of the room and the hotel was chic and tasteful, echoing the history of the Petite Auberge. Breakfast was included at The White Swan which is as two doors down and was also decorated based on the it's history (both of them being owned by the same person a long time ago). Staff were friendly and the location was great.

Petite Auberge exceeded my expectations. The customer services was excellent! Upon arrival, the gentleman that checked us in allowed us to check in an hour early and on check out, my luggage was safely held for me as my flight wasn't until the evening. When my friend and I casually asked about different restaurants/live music in the area, the gentleman at the desk looked up places in the area and provided us with directions to ones that were open when we returned later that day. They go above and beyond for their guests. They have an adorable happy hour with wine and snacks in a cozy old style living room/library area in the sister hotel next door every evening as well. The only con to the stay was a lack of air conditioning, but it wasn't too hot to be missed. Just open a window during your stay. I will definitely be back whenever I return to SF!

Edit: overall the experience was a 3 star, but with regards to the actual hotel and the beds, I had to give it a one star rating because my back is still sore after 5 days. We had a lovely stay - except tor the downright terrible beds. I woke up with a back so sore that I couldn’t walk after two days. The middle of the bed caved in over half a foot by the time we were both in the bed (and we are not overweight). We would happily return if they replaced the beds (or at least the box springs under the beds). When we asked about switching to a different room, the front desk staff said “I can’t do anything about it, all the beds are the same”. How disappointing. Also, the rooms are incredibly musty (to no fault of the hotel - it is an older property). I didn’t realize how musty until we got home and I realized how much better I could breathe at home! The staff at the white swan inn, which it seems does most of the concierge and amenities, were absolutely fantastic, and the complimentary wine reception every evening was a nice treat. I would give the white swan inn staff a 5 star review if I could! The breakfast was nice, but definitely not healthy.

If you're looking for a bed and breakfast, THIS IS NOT IT! It was a nice enough hotel, but the only breakfast was continental, and it was probably in the bottom 10% of continental breakfasts I've had. I've NEVER been served a continental breakfast at a place that called itself a "bed and breakfast." We were offered "croissants" (if you could call them that), muffins, cereal, and fruit (apples and bananas). It wasn't even a "european style" continental breakfast, with ham, baguette, cheese, etc. I really felt disrespected to be served something so depressing. As others have mentioned, the walls are indeed quite thin. I could easily hear others snoring in adjacent rooms.

Rooms were small but well taken care of. The location was great. It was the service and atmosphere/decor of the place that made it really stand out. All the staff were helpful and nice. There is a good complimentary breakfast and wine in the evening. Highly recommend this hotel.

A wonderful place! They were very welcoming and they provided nice amenities like coffee, tea, bottled water, etc. 24/7. The happy hour was also very enjoyable and the breakfast each morning was great! A cute place and the service is top-notch!

I was traveling for business, the valet parking is as nice. The staff provided excellent service and the rooms were clean. I had to leave too early and got back too late to enjoy the free breakfast and the evening wine. It took about 10-15 mins for the valet to bring my car around; which was much appreciated since it was raining all week. My room did not not have a heater, but they did have a gas fire place. Check in and check out were easy and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms reminded me of visiting my grandmother's house. It had cozy vibes and provides a unique quaint, vintage atmosphere. If you are into cottage core you are gonna love this place.
