I normally stay at Marriott so this was a few steps down from what I'm used to. The best part is location. "Elegant Lodging" perhaps this was true 20+ years ago. The king Deluxe room has no air conditioning, none. There is only a fan and a very, very ancient wall heater. I was told there was room service. That was a lie. It's basically door dash from the Sutter street restaurant (a good restaurant), but that is not what room service is, not even close. Plus I had to go outside the hotel to get it. The beds are okay, but are very dated. Minor faint staining on the sheets, so we slept on top of the bedding. The historic elevators, nice way to say old. Very slow and noisy going up and down. (For those that are uncomfortable using them) If you want a great location this is the place, but don't pay more than $200/usd/night that would be a crime.

I had an entirely unfavorable experience at this hotel. I had to change my room twice due to pervasive stains on both the sheets and bed covers. Additionally, the surroundings were crowded with homeless people. To be more precise, I found nothing appealing about my experience. I cannot recommend this hotel, even when faced with the limited alternatives of spending a night at the airport. Furthermore, their breakfast offerings are consisting only of tea and coffee.

Staying here now. Hardly any rooms booked and got the worst room. Why? I just wanted one thing (to face Post) and they just plain refused. We were on the other side and all the rooms across from us, what I wanted, were empty. Thanks for nothing. Won't stay again.

First class expectations? Best place to stay. We loved the place. Very stylish - recommendations!

Hotel doesn't have AC and rooms were sweltering all day and night. Rooms were very cramped. Appreciate the authentic vintage aspect, but it was way too hot.

This is an old but well maintained hotel. It would be more accurate to say that it is antique rather than feeling old. It is located right next to Union Square, making it convenient for city sightseeing.

Beautiful rooms, excellent service and location The Christmas decor and evening entertainment in the lobby were an excellent touch! I would definitely stay here again!

Great location just off Union Square. Rooms a bit small but good value for the area. Hotel had lots of character features and friendly staff. Visit Sears restaurant on the same block while you're there. It's awesome!

Sadly checked out early as the room is just too hot in August *without* air conditioning (ac, air con). It's a lovely hotel, we had a beautiful, comfy room. After the 2nd night of no sleep from the heat we had to find somewhere else. You can't keep the room cool enough to sleep with the small open window gap and ceiling fan. Then the road noise wakes you up again at 6am. Would happily book back in any other time of year. Lovely hotel and great staff, they gave us a small extra fan which helped a little.

Perfect location near shops and restaurants (and that's why there is no room service, no bar within thehotel). Rooms have enough space, comfortable bed (and I am sensitive about a good bed), very friendly and helpful staff. Than I found also a hidden gem on tje second floor - a theater (not so clean, but I enjoyed in a very good performance - musical Guys and Dolls) that is put in stage until January 13, 2024. I highly recommend it if you need to laugh into tears.

Bed Bugs Alert! I woke up in this hotel's bed the second day and found myself with a huge portion of redness and bumps all over my forearms and some on my neck. I had a horrible allergic reaction to the bed bugs in this hotel and I've never had such a severe allergic reaction before. It will take weeks to go away and it's such a pain with all the redness, bumps and itchiness... One of the frontdesk people questioned me why it was not there until the second night? but come on we found the bed bugs there already. The manager was much nicer and reimbursed me for medications.

The hotel staff and location were amazing! I transferred over to this hotel after an awful experience at another hotel. The Kensington Park hotel staff were super friendly and very helpful with everything from finding me a room to recommending the best place for parking in the area. My room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. The beds were comfortable. I would recommend staying here and will definitely book this hotel again if I come back to San Francisco.

It is a beautiful oldstyle hotel in Union Square. Rooms are clean but no staff around. The front Desk guy itself delivers ice, etc. I think it is more for business people than tourist. Also they have no facility for breakfast or food as such. Even the front desk did not have much information about how to help tourist. He did not even know that there are 2 breakfast places just adjacent to his hotel. So, if you are a tourist then please stay around Fisherman's Wharf (a very happening place) plus all tourist destinations close by. Whereas Union Square is not like Times Square (NYC), it has only extremely high-end shopping like Tiffany, Victoria's Secret, Loius Vuitton....

This hotel is a hidden gem! Super happy with this very affordable hotel right by union square. Rooms were clean and comfortable with modern updates. Plus nice restaurant, a theatre for plays(!), and an event space. I'll be back for sure.

I wasn’t even a guest at this hotel, I didn’t want to double park so I literately parked behind the valet. The doorman (Asian older man with glasses) came out and told me that it was valet parking which okay I understood and turned my car on but he was super rude and the way in which he was talking to me as if I’m lower class. He isn’t any better. Your employees should watch the tone in which they talk to people my mother works at the inn hotel. He seriously needs to watch how he talks to people. I did not appreciate his tone or the way he approached me

This hotel is in an incredible location and the staff within the hotel are all very friendly. However, one of the valet employees stole a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses from our car. Will definitely stay here again, but will park my car elsewhere.

Nice Hotel right next Union Square and 8 Minutes from Powell Station (Bert System). You can pretty much reach any POI in under 30 Minutes if you like to walk. The Rooms in the Hotel are comfortable and the Service is very helpful and nice. Definitly recommended for a stay.

5/24/22... This really a 4.5 out of 5 star review. 10 day stay. Fast check in and out. Comfortable bed and pillows. Quiet. Rarely heard other guests on our floor. Friendly and professional staff. Great location as near many places to eat and near bus routes. No A/C but ceiling fan was all we needed to stay in a comfortable temperature. We choose every other day maid service and it was more than adequate to keep the trash picked up in the towels changed. If you kept the window closed all the way you rarely heard outside sounds but you open the window up a little bit and let fresh air in it was quite noisy with sounds coming from the city even though we were on the 11th floor. Hot coffee and tea with small cookies was offered in the lobby in the morning due to covid precautions. And Sherry was offered in the afternoon in the lobby. There are only two negative issues...1. the room is very small. 2. The shower head is a low-flow shower head and very high on the wall and you end up using more water because of the way the water is coming out of the shower head then you would if it was a better spray shower head.

Stayed 2 nights, arrived early the first day. Check in was a breeze & front desk was super lovely - room was ready & we were able to check in early & drop our stuff for the day. Great location, pleasant staff & reasonable prices (though we booked on points). Bed & pillows were perfection, had GREAT sleeps. Close to transit & easily walkable - though be careful as it is on the border of tenderloin, which we mistakenly walked through the first day! Drawbacks - room had a bit of an odd smell to it (too much febreeze?) & was a bit old/tired, + water pressure in shower was pretty weak. Otherwise, pleasant stay & would recommend given bang for your buck.

This hotel is amazing. The location is very closed to Union Square, shops, bars and restaurants. We felt safe walking around the area. The attention and hospitality from the entire staff was incredible. Everyone was extra nice with us and made us feel very welcome. The room and the bathroom were very spacious and clean.
