Amazing hotel in a great location only a couple blocks from Chinatown and Union Square! The staff was very friendly and welcoming, especially the tall gentleman. He was very helpful in checking us in and holding our bags on our last day there. The hotel rooms are very spacious and clean. The decor is a bit dated and the rooms that we had lacked a bit of natural lighting but everything else was great. The areas around the hotel felt safe and was 2 blocks from Chinatown entrance and Union Square and a few extra blocks to Westfield Mall. Just on the corner of the hotel was a cable car stop that wasn’t too busy if you wanted to take it down to Fisherman’s Wharf. Will definitely book again with the Orchard Hotel in the future!

Reasonably priced, cute mini-hotel with nice accommodations. Bathroom was very clean, the room was well laid out, the bed was decently comfortable. The staff were excellent. Fill your bottle with the water from the water filter/cooler across from the front desk — it’s awesome. Would definitely stay here again!

Hotel was convenient, clean and comfortable. The service was great, everyone was so kind and we even got texts to ask if we needed anything. They accommodated late checkout, and were very helpful with whatever we needed.

I was pleasantly surprised by this boutique hotel. The staff was really friendly and everything was very clean. I had no problems walking to Chinatown, Moscone Center, Financial District, and anything else. It’s pretty hilly around the area, but that was expected. I’d stay here again!

It was my first time staying at the Orchard Hotel, but have stayed at the Orchard Garden Hotel (same owners) and I really enjoyed my stay then, so decided to stay at this hotel coming from out of town for a wedding. The staff is very genuine, kind, friendly and the hotel is always so clean. I appreciate that it’s a more boutique style hotel, it’s quiet especially perfect after a long day of work or exploring the city. I personally think the location is perfect and central to so many activities, attractions and restaurants. If you are looking for hotels for a wedding, a weekend get away in SF, I recommend checking out the Orchard or Orchard Garden hotels - they’re great!

Absolutely the best hotel in area. High prices, dated interiors, aggressive homeless folks and insanely steep hills are just par for the course in Union Square. No fault of the hotel. This place excels at customer service, friendliness, comfort, and cleanliness. Will definitely return

Loved our stay here. We stayed for 3 nights to visit the city. We arrived before check in time but our room was ready and we were let in! The room was fantastic, it was huge, plenty of floor space and storage. Equally, the bathroom was big too. The bed was very comfortable. Location wise, it was great, felt safe in this area. Easy to walk around locally there were a good selection of bars and restaurants.

The staff are extremely rude, particularly Jaten. He shouted at me over the phone when I was on my way to the hotel and called to ask a few questions. The hotel room itself was very outdated (not in a good way) and the carpet was badly stained. Everything else, like the elevator and door knob, is barely working and feels like it will fall apart at any minute. The only good things to note about this hotel are the renovated bathroom, central (albeit still dodgy) location and AC.

Orchard Hotel delivers great value for its three-star rating. The staff are friendly and the location is ideal, right in the heart of the action. It's not luxury, but it's clean, comfortable, and wallet-friendly. Pro tip: since it's downtown with no parking of its own, it's worth springing for a spot in a nearby garage.

I love the spacious, well equipped room. Located at Bush Street it's a good place to visit San Francisco. Service, staff and cleanliness are outstanding. Even Thanks to the professional front desk officers.

We had to stay here for 6 nights after a 4 months trip in Asia because our new house wasn’t ready yet! Location is decent, nobody in the lobby to help with our luggage! They have us a room on the 2nd floor facing the street which was extremely noisy 24/7 and you can smell the garbage! The bed frame was square and made of wood and we constantly hit our leg waking by! The building is very old but the bathroom looked like it was recently remodeled! Toilet is too low! I grew up in SF and I was still scared walking around the area day or night ! Bottom line is for $200 a night for a so so 3 star hotel in SF isn’t a good option! The best option is to avoid the city all together! SF have been dead since the 1989 earthquake and could never recover from that! All the Chinese restaurants in Chinatown is nasty as hell! All the streets are practically empty! Pepper & Morris

Loved our time at The Orchard Hotel. Staff were super friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms were very well appointed, clean and spacious. The super big bed was very comfortable with beautiful bed linen. Notably the pillows were great, this may seem a little thing, but having stayed in around 10 hotels in the past couple of weeks, the Orchard 's pillows were fab.

4.5 stars really - yes the place is starting to show its age. But the service is delightful. the beds are very comfortable. the rooms are huge. You can tell that this (and the orchard garden) are run by a family who cares. It also feels very ~San Francisco~ … as opposed to just being another Hyatt. i fully endorse it.

Great hotel ... no complaints. Room was large, clean and comfortable ... as requested, on a quiet high floor away from the elevators. Staff took care of a small problem with the shower within a couple of hours. Location was great ... close enough to Union and Chinatown for good restaurants and bars but far enough away from the homeless and pan handling problems. There were no additional fees and there was a large and secure parking garage close to the hotel ... price considerably less than hotels with garages. Would highly recommend this hotel and will stay next time we visit.

A most excellent hotel. We chose this one for our way back from Hawai'i to settle back to the time différence. The hotel is calm, comfortable, cosy and close to Union Square. I must thank Shane very warmly as we were a bit upset because of our Uber ride (there is a mix up in their map between The Orchard Garden and The Orchard). Anyway, he was the best that day! THANK YOU SHANE :)

We stayed here for our 20th wedding anniversary. Staff was friendly and attentive. Location was perfect right next to cable car stop and easy walk to Chinatown and Union Square.

The customer service whom I talked with was poor and no manners! I booked a hotel last year and with no clue why the date was changed after I booked which is weird to me cause the date was the day I booked it. I live in Canada so there is no way I gonna book on the same day. I called the hotel twice but the lady who I talked was so rude and not friendly. I explained what happened but she doesn’t care and told me that it is the computer and I don’t have anything to do with it. She never tried to help me ang hang up!!! That’s the worst experience I ever had with booking a hotel! They did not refund mo or even reach out. They are just after the money not with giving a good service at all.

Lovely place. Its better than a 5 star when it comes to rooms. Safe area and clean. Lots of eating options, laundry and other things around. Must stay.

Great neighborhood. No homeless people within several blocks, no sketchy types trying to sell you weed or pick your pocket, no bars on the windows in this neighborhood, very safe, even at night. It may be a small thing, but I like the free water bottle refill station. We used it a lot in our reusable containers and didn’t have to waste money on bottled water. Interesting artwork, nice room, bathroom has a bathtub. Super comfy bed. Service was OUTSTANDING. Tip: download the Curb app onto your phone for cabs. Throughout our stay, we alternated between Uber, Lyft, and taxis depending upon the distance and time of day. There is a huge difference in price every time.

We had a very pleasant stay. I cannot say enough about the staff here—everyone was beyond accommodating. We needed a wheelchair? They manifested one right away. The wait staff remembered my breakfast order from the day before, and so on. The rooms were very nice, as was the location.
