One of the best hospitality from Alvin, Kimberly & Team! All the team members provided such a heart warming service that made me plan to return again. 🥰 Firdaus was already waiting for us at the entrance when we arrived. Kimberly arranged a special room specially for our anniversary - room was arranged to my李 (my last name), traditional tins with layered snacks, anniversary card and decorations. Alvin provided a personalised tour of Fuk Tai Chi Museum with his depth of knowledge and patience. We thought that was all for our stay - but no! Alvin accompanied us for our takeaway breakfast at the nearest cafe and Firdaus even offered to help with my luggage to Telok Ayer MRT (even it is within 3 mins away). For the room, basic but fantastic. The bed was one of the comfiest and love the wooden planks at the rain shower. Thank you, AMOY Team! I’ll definitely be back 🥰

I stayed in several hotels in Singapore before and this is by far my favourite! The building is beautiful and such a special place with a lot of character. The hotel is small and quiet and I felt so comfortable right from the start. Staff are absolutely wonderful, so friendly and helpful. They make everything to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. The room was super cosy and clean and I got a really good night sleep. Upon arrival to my room there was a handwritten welcome card which shows how much they value each guest and make you feel so welcome. There is really good tea and coffee in the room for free. The breakfast in the cafe next door was really good and I was so happy that they offered healthy and vegetarian food. It would be great to arrange breakfast (at least some fruit and a juice) for guests leaving early. The location is also great! The MRT station is just on the other side of the road and there is a really good food court a few minutes walk away. You can also walk to China Town just across the road. I am so glad I found this place and I can't wait to come back.

Hotel staff is the best service standard I’ve ever received. They are attentive to our needs. I came down for breakfast forgetting to wear my mask and immediately the staff get a disposable one for me. It’s such attention to details that makes the experience comfortable. Thank you Alvin, Derek and Bryan!

Lovely hotel in great location, walking distance to Chinatown, Lau P Sat hawker center, metro station, merlion statue. Can also walk to the Marina Bay sands in about 25 minutes. Our room looked out on the far east center. The building is an old temple that has been converted - can make navigating luggage a bit tricky at check in but they have a bell you can ring for assistance. Air conditioning works really well and shower and bathroom are decent. Some mini bar items came free - soft drinks and crisps which I didn't realize until we checked out! There are a bunch of restaurants in the far east center just below - note many are only open for lunch - they are good but so is the nearby hawker center! We had breakfast included - there was a choice of two places, we ate at the one in the far east center - vegan/vegetarian Genius. You get to choose one breakfast dish with coffee or tea. Breakfast is delicious, very fresh and comes with some fresh fruit. Note it only opens from 8am so if you want earlier breakfast you'll have to choose the second place. Only complaint is that we couldn't check in on time - seems their late check out causes some issues for those checking in. Would definitely stay here again.

What a find. Lovely well presented boutique hotel, right on the edge of Chinatown. Just a 10 min walk to the Riverside. There is a MRT station right outside the entrance do getting anywhere in Singapore is very easy. It's built around an old riverfront temple, which is still there and open to anyone who wants to walk around. The river has long ago been moved to allow for expansion of the city. Lovely rooms, just packing in a bit of storage space, and the many bars and restaurants locally do make some noise at night. Overall highly recommended.

Fantastic stay... no complaints! The only thing it's missing is a pool... but that is more than made up for with clean, cozy rooms, fantastic location on the border of Chinatown (right next to many good food and drink establishments, and conveniently across from an MRT station), delicious breakfasts (you can't go wrong with either the amazing Henri bakery or the Genius Central more vegetarian spot), and fantastic service (Tina was especially great)... oh, and more affordable than many places in Singapore, too!

Booked a stayca with the wife to celebrate my birthday. Staff were attentive and check-in was hassle free. The hotel is situated in a very good location to be a local tourist. We went Chinatown, visited hawker centers for good food. However, it is the service by the staff that won me over. Had a noise incident at around midnight (renovation noise with drilling and noise) lasted for almost an hour. Was properly asleep and was woken up. Called front desk, and they apologise and rushed to sort it out. Turns out, it was happening in an adjacent building, which was out of their control and they weren't informed about it. Next morning, a staff came to our room personally, to explain and offered a discount of our booking. I was surprised and thought the service recovery was excellent. They also gave us a cake and card for my birthday. Best experience so far! Thank you, Benjamin, Kimberly, Derek, Bryan and Erica. You guys are awesome.

I recently had a short business trip and had a one night stay here. The room was a Cosy Single. It was small but very comfortable for a one nighter. The hotel has done an absolutely amazing job in presenting the heritage element in the hustle and bustle of the busy area filled with eateries and pubs. Kudos to the staffs especially Mr Nizam for providing world class hospitality and practical recommendation during my short stay. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone and I am sure you will get a pleasantly different experience of a hotel stay.

This hotel is located in a hip and bustling area. There’s so much to do nearby and amazing museums and food are just around the corner. The staff was so friendly and the rooms are small but stylish and clean. Also, the breakfast was delicious!

Fantastic little boutique hotel with a cool backstory. The staff was friendly, the price was right, the room was nice, and the place was clean. Not to mention a great location, centered around great restaurants, middle of the city, and across from the train station. Strongly recommended.

AMOY is a spectacular place to stay! The location of the hotel is very convenient, directly opposite Exit B of Telok Ayer Station - Chinatown, and the city center are very close, and there are many restaurants nearby, which is very convenient! Our room was very comfortable, clean, and had enough space. It was quiet and comfortable. All staff I met were very nice, friendly and kind. The breakfast is delicious. We will be back!

To be honest, this hotel is tough for me to review. Personally, I believe if you want to try a Chinese-style hotel, you should choose here. Otherwise, you might have other options. The main entrance is like to temple from ancient China. Well, it is a building from a long time ago. You need to go into the temple, then to the right-hand side, where you will see a small gate leading you to the hotel's front desk. The hotel has a back door, too, which absolutely will let you know this is a hotel. The corridor decoration is full of last names in Chinese, which is pretty interesting, even though I am viewing it from a Chinese point of view. However, the room itself is small, which reminds me of the size of the hotel room in Tokyo. Maybe it is normal as it is downtown Singapore. You will have two choices for breakfast, and both of them are ok. Not surprising, but they are good to eat. Just choose whatever you want, but if you skip breakfast, it will be a little hard for you to get something to eat as there are few restaurants nearby, and you can't find 7-11 as convenient as in Japan. Overall, it is a good hotel.

Hotel: Cute boutique hotel situated in a temple looking like building. Well decorated with antique Singaporean touches (statue of a street vendor, model of boat and a street) Room: Modern and very comfortable room with all necessary amenities and facilities, albeit a bit small. The single glass panel window make it sometimes noisy at night. Location: Great location, just at the outskirts of Chinatown, ideally situated in front of a MRT station that easily connects to all attractions. Whole Chinatown and Gardens by the Bay can also be reached by foot. Super lively street with lots of bars and restaurants just outside of the hotel. Staff: Warm and welcoming staff, attentive and very helpful. Special mention to Letitia and Jay who helped me with checkin and Thomas who checked me out. Conclusion: I highly recommend this hotel for its location, the staff and its authentic charm in a very modern Singapore.

Been assigned to a room with stairs inside, might not be good if drunk, but maybe it’s because of my early check-in. Front desk and check-in experience was great, room was cozy too and clean, though air condition slightly noisy, but nice to have quite a lot complementary drinks and snacks. Suggestion: would be better to have more than one towel in the room, even for single room. Will sure consider to stay again if coming back.

This was a really cool hotel within a heritage building. Walking through a small museum was an experience. The single room, though small, had all the amenities that I needed. We were welcome with a cold cup of tea and snacks (snacks were available at reception at all times too). The service staff were fantastic, the team was one of the best that I've ever encountered. Tina was very thorough at check in, and even assisted us to the room. Requests for addition items were responded to very quickly and all the reception staff were very friendly and patiently assisted with my many questions. The location was awesome, with transport, food and activities all available within a stone's throw.

Checking out from the Amoy Hotel after a 7 night stay we wanted to share A BIG SHOUT OUT to Tina, the Guest Services executive! We could be guaranteed of always seeing her smiling face and her commitment to customer service, politeness, warmth and approachability whenever we came down to reception with our many enquiries and requests. She exceeded expectations when she researched details on specialist shops and passed them on after an enquiry. Tina’s talents will hopefully be appreciated by management and hope she gets promoted! We also want to give a SHOUT OUT to Thomas, who patiently and efficiently moved all our bags , many and heavy as they were , across steps and levels, multiple times for us. And for his informative tour of the history of the temple and immigrants that was the background to the hotel. I listened to another tour guide who popped in with his tour and definitely did not have all the stories Thomas had. There are a couple of red flags in our opinion with the limitations of the boutique hotel, particularly being an older historical building. These are; 1. Soundproofing is challenging given its location near a busy food market, office buildings and thoroughfares. The first night a group talking in the food hall adjacent till after 2:30 am kept us awake. Note Tina and Thomas had great communication and responses in ensuring we had another quieter room to go to the next day. 2. Hotel layout involves negotiating numerous steps and levels. Not a problem for the fit and able however…. to those with a larger body mass.. the shower will be very difficult to access as there is a door that opens inward to the shower not leaving much room for you to get in. Overall we enjoyed our stay here in this boutique heritage hotel. So close to Lau Pa Sat food market, Maxwell Food market and 2 MTR stops. Definitely looking to return on our next journey to Singapore!

Recommendation Service is over to top. Letitia and her team do everything to give you a warm welcome and a pleasent stay. Rooms are big an clean. The Minibar is included The breakfast is great (provided by the neighboring bars) Location is perfect. Directly at the mrt station There is nothing to complain about .

Loved our stay here...rooms were spotless, location was great, right by one of the underground stops, walking distance to Chinatown, Gardens by the Bay etc and all interaction with helpful staff very positive. The only reason I didn't give five stars overall is that we had to check ourselves in by scanning a QR code ...not as effortless as it should be.

Great location downtown Singapore. Accessible to everything via walk and or public transit. Staff service is outstanding, pleasant and helpful. Physical condition is starting to show its age though. Cleaning is very good, but details like dark dirt in shower track can be improved.

So happy that we found this boutique hotel! Super unique concept, the 37 rooms are each named with a Chinese surname in tribute to Singapore’s early migrants who lived around the area. Upon reaching Singapore, these seafaring migrants stepped into Fuk Tak Chi temple (entrance of the hotel) to offer prayers to give thanks for the safe passage at sea to Singapore. Free minibar and the complimentary special tea (Jin Jun mei) is amazing. The breakfast was the best part! They partnered up with two restaurants and you get tons of options to choose from. Recommend you go to Hong Lim hawker at 7am for some kaya toast at Zheng Ming Cha Shi (or the nearby Yakun if you insist) then some Outram Park Char kway teow, then come back for a second round of breakfast and wash off that heaviness with some fire smoothie bowls and avocado toasts. The pastries at Henry (one of the two complimentary breakfast restaurants) are great too if you’re craving something Western. The staff is sooo friendly, could give 10 stars for the service. Only downside was our room was noisy especially weekend nights.

I stayed in AMOY Hotel to do a LOA after 2 weeks of SHN elsewhere, and let me just say I never post reviews, but the team at AMOY was just perfect! Really attentive and nice! The meals provided were good, the room was clean and practical. Wished I could have stayed longer.

Had a shaky start when I first checked in but then I met the amazingly kind, friendly and courteous Front Desk staff. They helped me enormously, going out of their way to make my stay enjoyable and comfortable. The rooms at the Amoy are very nice although the mini bar is not actually a bar but a fridge with soft drinks. All other amenities were great. The hotel is in a fabulous position to enjoy everything Chinatown has to offer and very convenient to public transport. The true stars of the Amoy though are the staff, special thanks go to the Duty Manager/Reception staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Great quirky hotel in the middle of everything. Amazing location, with a train station 1 minute away. Also walkable distance from the gardens and MBS. Coffee capsules and minibar were complementary, and the breakfast had two options at the cafes next door. Henri Cafe was amazing.

A great place to stay. Just that the toilet design is a little weird. You can't really place any clothings in the toilet. The toilet privacy screen also have some room for improvement. The breakfast is great at a restaurant downstairs. Overall, is a great location for staycation 🙂👍🏼

A boutique hotel in a heritage shop house building. Rooms are small as expected and well appointed. Stayed in the largest room available and found it comfortable. Free drinks and snacks in bar fridge and coffee and tea as well. Staff were amazing. Only downside is that nights can get noisy with drunk people downstairs where all the bars are. Overall excellent stay.

Awesome staff, friendly and helpful. They offered a room to take a shower after check out - without I even asked for. The breakfast was also really great. I enjoyed their breakfast style (menu card, no buffet). Overall, perfect stay over 7 days!

We arrived at Changi airport in Singapore early on the Saturday, where we were greeted by a lovely chauffeur who took care of our luggage and drove us to the Amoy hotel. On arrival we were then greeted by hotel staff who showed us around the hotel and explained the herratige of the building. Having been given a map and some great tips and knowledge from the hotel staff, we left our suitcases in the lobby and went out exploring on foot. The Amoy hotel is very conveniently positioned close to most of the areas of interest such as the marina, Singapore Flyer and Chinatown . We then returned to the hotel at around two where we and our luggage were escorted to our room. The rooms are a good size, with very tasteful modern decor whilst maintaining traditional influences. The free mini bar was a great added bonus. After a few hour nap we were off out to explore some more. The double bed was very spacious and very comfortable too. As we were staying over a holiday period, most of the city was very quiet and very few people where around until midday. We were greeted the following morning by the reception staff who were particularly attentive at breakfast, this included a lovely security worker. Nothing was too much trouble. The selection for breakfast was good; a variety of teas and juices, cereals, pastries, toast/bread, bacon/sausage and some more traditional foods. When we returned late that night the room had been cleaned and restocked. A very lovely note from the hotel staff had been left as well. We were due to fly out early on the Monday morning, upon check out the kind gentleman ordered us a taxi which very efficiently arrive five minutes later. He also suggested we use our last breakfast coupon to take our breakfast away with us. It's the kind gestures like these that make staying here so worthwhile. I would definalty recommend staying here over a big corporate hotel chain. The staff really value you and go to great lengths to ensure you have a fantastic time, not only within the hotel but in Singapore too. If we are to return (which I am hoping we do) I will defiantly be staying here again! (Stay October 2014)

I selected this hotel mainly because of it’s downtown location and good reviews. It is also a boutique hotel which I prefer to large chain hotels so long as they have modern conveniences. Even though I arrived at 2:00am the front desk attendant was very helpful and efficient checking me in and taking me up to the my singles room on the 2nd floor. The hotel is built inside a Heritage building that once housed one of Singapore's oldest Chinese temples from 1820s to 1994. They kept the heritage look and feel especially in the entrance. The room is quite small as I expected, but it’s very well laid out and efficient with all modern conveniences, such as coffee maker, in room safe, USB outlet and desk area. Only minor thing is the hallway does have a several parts with a few short steps up and down. Nothing difficult, but if someone has mobility challenges, they might have a bit of an issue. The bed was comfy although to save space is placed against the wall, so you only enter from one side. Took a little getting used to, but didn’t hinder my sleep. The desk and chair were quite useable to work on a laptop, and the free wifi was decent speed for most uses. AC kept the room comfortable with minimal noise. Breakfast is a la carte at a restaurant directly next door. The selection is good and quality and service very good. I location is very central particularly to the Telok Ayer MRT subway line literally across the street. Its ideal not just a walk/subway ride to everything, but also many food places located within several blocks including the Lau Pa Sat Festival Market, which is a great place to get cheap but good food. Overall I rate the hotel, service and location as excellent, and would definitely return back again.

REVISED: Sep 22: came back to Amoy Hotel after 3 months for business trip again and I had an amazing stay. Clemence, Emily and Thomas are extremely helpful and they really care. They also added a second place for breakfast which opens earlier but breakfast at Genius Central is a must June 22: Staff is helpful and hotel is in a traditional building, which means that can present some flaws but it is also an experience. When I arrived there was a problem with the sink that was promptly solved. The breakfast is available from 8am which can be a problem if you have an early meeting but the hotel said they will change this soon.

Location: 3~5 minutes walking distance to Telok Ayer. Check in: Fast, done within 10 minutes. Room: Small. Service: The manager open up the so call museum, where they kept the original part of the temple and provide idea to take photo with old and new building inside one fame, really thumb up for the attitude. Nearby: Visit few old temples nearby and many restaurant/cafe surrounding.

One of best hotel experiences ever! I travel a lot and stay in hotels a lot but AMOY service was perfect. Hotel has no restaurant but you can eat in restaurants just outside (breakfast if included, lunch/dinner with discout) which is good because of extra choice. Rooms are good and as the whole hote very nice ambiance. Situated in centre of Chinatown which makes it very easy to get to and also with enough food and drinks around.

Well located hotel that made an overnight stop over in Singapore very easy. Able to walk out and see sites. Lots of food options in easy reach. A sign at the door would have made finding reception easier but this was a very minor drama. Staff very welcoming and made the stay very easy.

The Asian lady in reception is really friendly when we arrive in late evening. We got big help with another from Malaysia staff when we ask for booking a bus . The table is not clean enough if you left a empty juice cup on top, full of small 🐜 .

A wonderful boutique hotel. Personal and friendly service; clean and well-thought out rooms (compact, but perfect for a short solo stay) and a great location (a few mins walk to multiple MRT stations, the water, Chinatown, hawker centres and within a heritage listed building with a museum for a lobby!!)

  • 5/5 Oli W. 1 year ago on Google
Nice little hotel central located. Easy to reach restaurants and bars. Hotel entrance from the front is different and some special, just walk into the temple, you'll see the front desk ;-). Definitely a recommendation if you want to stay in Singapur for 1 or 2 nights.

What an incredible experience this hotel is. Not only does the history add an authenticity to your stay, the lovely staff just make you feel like family. We chose the Genius Central for our breakfast, which further added to our fantastic experience of Singapore where again you are welcomed into their community with warmth and joy. The hotel is so well placed for both a short walk to Chinatown and also to the Singapore River and Quay bars and restaurants. And the MRT is just across the road if you are looking for further afield exploration. We would not hesitate recommending the Amoy and will absolutely return to this genuinely beautiful place. Thank you guys. See you again soon. Karen and Myles x

We had a great stay of five days here at Amoy. In the beginning I was worried if the room might be too small. But it came out that the room was cozy and spacious. I initially got Amoy because I was tired of those modern looking standard hotel rooms and Amoy totally satisfied my taste. They offered lovely tea and breakfast - my Mom and I really liked Henri (a French restaurant by Amoy where they offfer you complimentay breakfast). Also, we liked the hotel staff whom are always helpful and friendly. Last but not least, the location is the best! I can’t say more about how convenient it is to go to anywhere - and the subway station is just across the street!
