Michael, our server, was extremely attentive and kind! The food was excellent, with a nice happy hour menu and full dinner menu there is plenty to pick from. I thought it was cool that the Old Fashions are on tap. I would recommend making a reservation, as even at 4pm on a Thursday it filled up very fast! The peel-able shrimp were tasty with a Cajun feel to them. The marinara on the cheesy bread was excellent and a little tangy. I loved the Spring Salad, it was refreshing and had the perfect portions to get flavor in each bite. Will definitely come again!

Lovely place for decent food and drinks. I tried peel and eat shrimp, bone marrow, tavern burger, surf and turf, pork chop, lamb pasta, pumpkin cake, and cocktails. Everything was delicious, but burger was my favorite so far! So good. It’s always a busy busy place, but the still like the ambiance and service. You really gotta make a reservation though.

My partner and I took his mother to celebrate her birthday at wooden city and we were blown away! From the very start our cocktails were super delicious and And we had a feeling that the food was going to be just as good. We were not disappointed. The Hungarian peppers are one of the best dishes I’ve ever had and the Crudo, endive salad, Beef pasta, lamb pasta, and veggie pizza blew us away as well. We tried all three desserts and they were tasty but didn’t match the food level! On top of the culinary magi the service was so good and we were very well taken care of. The food came out in good time the atmosphere was lovely and we sat on their patio in a great section of downtown Tacoma. We really cannot get over just how delicious the food was. I look forward to eating here again, so excited to have found a spot like this in Tacoma.

Just about everything was grand. Flavors just burst in your mouth. I ate there on Wednesday and made reservations for Thursday. When something works you keep coming back for more. Salmon toast tastes as good as it looks. Enjoyed the Bone Marrow, Burger, Brisket, Beet & Goat cheese pasta, and for dessert... apple crisp, vanilla chia seed pudding, and the chocolate custard.

This place is amazing. The food, the ambiance, and the staff is great. The Wooden City surf and turf is phenomenal along with the braised brisket. It all was cooked perfectly...perfect temp, seasoning, presentation. The staff can really make a great margarita and all drinks whiskey as well. Delicious all the way around.

Can’t wait to go back! Loved the ambiance and all the food and drinks we had. We had some of the signature cocktails- Watermelon Sundae, Bramble and Happy Days. The Watermelon Sundae was our favorite! For starters we shared the smoke salmon toast and the burrata. Both dishes were amazing! The toast was beautiful and delicious and the burrata was so flavorful and unique! For entrees we had the lamb bolognese and beet ravioli. The ravioli was the most unique dish and couldn’t stop eating it. Although we were pretty full, we had to try the desserts. We ordered the chocolate custard and cheesecake. The custard was devoured. The cheesecake flavor was great but the texture was off. Overall, a wonderful dining experience!

I absolutely love coming to this place. I almost always get a seat at the bar (lucky I know) but I also love sitting outside. I've only had a few menu items here but my fav I get all the time when I come is the bone marrow!! This is something I would have never eaten. One day I was just trying not to be picky and to try something new. How they plate this looks so delicious to me. I love the onions, the mustard and pickles that come with it. Also the bread/toast is the best touch. Oysters on the half shell are pretty good. Last time I had the oysters, they were a little bit gritty, but still melted in my mouth. My daughter once tried the vegan burger and she was in love. The bartenders are friendly and make great drinks. I have yet to have a drink that tasted like kerosene!! Mainly saying they make flavorful mixed drinks. If I wanted to taste straight alcohol I would just order on the rocks or something. Anyway I wish they would be open early I would love to go for lunch. If your ever in the area past 4 I think, please stop by this place and have a bite to eat!! You won't regret it. Oh yeah the vibe of people who come here are all different.

Awesome dining experience. Totally enjoyed my belated birthday dinner celebration. First time eating here and totally impressed. First, must commend the General Manager Erin, talk about First class customer service and leading by example. Her work ethic and leadership are obvious and Ashton took amazing care of us throughout our dinner. Food, drinks and service all 5⭐️! Great job, awesome dining experience and Thanks for a wonderful birthday dinner, 🥂 Well done.

Several points to like about Wooden City: the wings and Hungarian peppers were very tasty and worth trying; the lamb bolonase had all the right flavors in a right-sized portion; the pizzas tasted good but the slices were a bit mushy on the bottom. Our server was overwhelmed or distracted and didn't seem to know what part of the meal we were eating. She brought us our check before we could order dessert or drinks and did the same to the next table. Yes, it's trendy and popular, but needs work to hire the right or more serving staff.

My husband and I came here for our 5th anniversary and had a great experience. Thankfully we didn’t have to wait too long as we have heard dinner time can get pretty busy. We got a seat outside which we really enjoyed. It was a bit quieter outside than in and we got to do some people watching. Our server was great, the food was tasty and the vibe was 10/10. They also have a nice little happy hour that we took advantage of as well. I got the cheesy pepperoni bread on happy hour and that was a bit smaller than I was expecting but oh so yummy. I got a lavender lemonade which I felt was lacking in flavor a bit and then I had the crispy chicken sandwich which was really good as well. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re in the area!

This is the best restaurant in Tacoma. Ive been here several times and never had anything short of an exceptional experience here. Food, wine, cocktails, service are all A+. I love sitting at the bar during happy hour. Keep up the great work, folks!

What an absolute experience! Our server Jonah (I hope I got the spelling right!) was super helpful! We started with the drinks which were delicious, I got the penicillin and my girlfriend got the Bramble, for starters she got the Caribbean spiced wings(not pictured but delicious) and I got the marrow which was absolutely indulgent! The sourdough it came with was toasted perfectly and the extra toppings really elevated it further. For mains my girlfriend got the sausage and mushroom pizza (not pictured) which was as perfect as a pizza can get and I got the country style pork chop. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and the sauce, apples and shishito peppers married with the protein perfectly. Each bite was like a bite of nostalgia as I had a similar style chop in my youth. Additionally the Prince playlist was great!

This place was off the hook. It is rare that I give a place 5 starts right out of the gate but I have to give it to this wonderful establishment. First, staff: I don't know what they're paying them but EVERY SINGLE employee--including the guy we walked by as we left who was emptying the trash (!!)--was genuinely courteous and friendly. Our waitress was an absolute delight: attentive without hovering. Beer was cold, and the draft selection was decent. Appetizers were works of art. I had the smoked salmon toast with beets and could almost have just ordered another and made that my meal. The braised brisket: juicy, flavorful and decently portioned. The chocolate, coffee custard we ended with was ridiculous. Everything was so good I forgot to take pictures of it! Don't take my word for it; go. They're doing things RIGHT here.

One of our favorite restaurants. Every bite is better than the last. Don't miss out. The beet ravioli is one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. Twice now. Make a reservation way in advance, though.

From the candlelit patio ambiance to the whimsical 80s playlist to the shareable small plates and entrees…Wooden City was a hit! The Manhattan was boozy yet delicious, cauliflower a fresh and flavorful app, French onion soup warm and comforting with bone broth, ravioli a cheesy delight, burrata with bread pudding actually quite the star of the show, bone marrow a unique delicacy, Hungarian peppers a decadent delight, and the chocolate custard was the perfect ending to the show! Calling ahead was a great option (or making a reservation a day or two in advance online) and everyone we interacted with was so pleasant and helpful! I’ll definitely be back soon.

Food was amazing and service may have been even better! We sat at the chef’s counter and it was such a unique and fun experience for a Saturday night date! Reservations need to be made 1-2 weeks in advance. Rarely any walk in availability.

Great atmosphere and the patrons are easy going and having a great time. Rachelle, our hostess is friendly and welcoming. If you’re lucky enough to be attended by her, you will have an amazing experience. The drinks are top notch and the food was so delicious. I’d go back there and I’m an introvert that doesn’t like restaurants or the people in them. 🙂We had the chicken wing and the bone marrow dish pictured below.

The service was decent, and the employees were friendly. Our server appeared to have open wounds from cracked skin on his hands, so that was pretty gross. He was attentive, though. Unfortunately, the $14 caesar salad was smaller than my hand, and its flavor couldn't make up for its lack of value. Not sure any meatless salad could.

Fantastic place for a nice dinner. Appetizers were amazing, especially the Hungarian peppers with chive oil (pro tip: keep the oil to go with your pizza). Their pizzas have a really nice crust to them and they use top notch ingredients. This place gets really packed though so make sure you plan reservations well in advanced.

Highly recommend! Our whole meal was delish. We had the surf & turf, Hungarian peppers, peel & eat shrimp, and chocolate mousse. Service was attentive & friendly. Will be back!

The Hungarian wax pepper is different and quite delicious. I wish they added more bread because the bread is soooo good. Wings were nice and crispy. Ready to come back soon to try more of their food 😋

The first time we went here was a year ago and we were so impressed that when I asked my wife where she wanted to go this year, without hesitation she said Wooden City. We reserved a table at the Chef’s table. Best experience ever! We were treated like royalty! Staff was so friendly and accommodating. We walked in and told them our reservation and we were greeted by name. We got to see the kitchen do their impeccable thing. Recommendations were explained with the most genuine responses. The food, incredible. If you are looking for a fun experience with amazing food, I would highly recommend! We will be going back again, again, and AGAIN! Staple of Tacoma and a true gem.

We ordered French onion soup, pepperoni pizza and the Bolognese tagliatelle. Food was all amazing and can't wait to go back. We sat at the bar. They also offer small selection of mocktails! I have the lavender lemonade and it was delicious. My partner had the old fashioned which he likes to order just about anywhere we go and he said that it was really delicious there. Service was exceptional and would recommend to anyone!

We first discovered this restaurant in Spokane. Now we're visiting Seattle and you bet we drove 1.5 hours down in rush hour just to eat here. I don't exaggerate when I say it's some of the best food I've ever had. We got the Hungarian Peppers, of course, and I also had the beet ravioli. I literally started tearing up because of how delicious it was. If you're in the area (or anywhere in a 2 hour radius) and thinking about coming here, DO IT!!

We went for dinner and had an amazing experience. It was busy even at 1700 but we were promptly seated at the bar, which does full food service. Cocktails were great, unique options and had great non alcoholic options which is always great to see. The food was also very high quality and exceeded expectations. We got the beet ravioli and fancy burger, and would definitely come back. Also the bartender was very friendly and had great recommendations for food and drink.

Disappointing! After about one and half hours we got a table. It was not a table but the countertop of the kitchen. We were watching the people working at kitchen which was not a clean and desired view when eating. The food was not good at all. I got a Fancy burger that was raw with no spice and one of my friends got an awful pizza. The only positive point was our nice server. I am sure will not be back for food👎
