Very peaceful and serene. It's located at the bottom of the hill and surrounded by woods. You can walk around the place and climb up the hill, there are a few pathways and shrines here & there. The views from these paths are amazing.

Beautiful location, the walk up from the bridge gave a great old time feel, even in the humidity of summer. See video of approach walk to this area. The shrine is impeccably maintained, with lots to see in the surrounding setting. The floats exhibit hall was great, and the nikkokan museum mini scale models were even better! Worth a trip out to this side of town. Discount tickets only 500 yen if you buy both as a combo. We toured the area in about 60 minutes total.

I decided to pursue going to this holy place even when it's about 5pm or 6pm. We went there, 8t was already closed. It was so quiet but you'd never feel scared. I felt a serene ambiance in a cold almost night feeling. It was magical. Those temples are quietly looking at us. I shared a small prayer, took some photographs and left. How I wished I went there when it was still open. Maybe I'd come back again. 😊

This is hard to miss as the huge white torii gate can be seen from a distance. There's such an amazing vibe to this place. We wanted to see the floats used in the festival but the museum was about to close, plus there's a fee for that.

Worth a visit. Easy to reach out from downtown or any other place in takayama. Evocative Temple in the Edge of the Town and Woods. Located Very close to the down town and at the beginning of a nice walk in the forest

My family of five came here on December 23, 2017. The place was very quiet as it was not festive time. We just took a few photos, lingered for half and hour and left!

Love it here. Somehow very peaceful. You will see the white shrines nearby the river, walk that way for 400 metres and walk up the stairs. Enjoy the view! It would be lovely if you come here before the sun sets.

I went there at sunset as I was cycling in that area. The evening time really changes its perspective, you can feel a different aura around it and the sound of the surrounding nature. The naturalistic location makes it very attractive.
