We
toured
Israel
this
past
spring
break
with
our
tour
guide
Gilad
Suffrin.
Gilad
had
been
recommended
by
a
colleague
of
mine
whose
family
toured
with
him
a
few
years
back.
It
seemed
like
it
was
going
to
be
challenging.
I
hadn't
been
to
Israel
in
30
years.
I
wanted
to
take
my
family
there
for
my
older
son's
13th
birthday
and
do
some
commemoration
of
his
bar
mitzvah.
My
wife
is
Catholic
and
wasn't
that
interested
in
going.
My
son
had
hoped
to
stay
at
home
and
play
video
games.
I
don't
usually
meet
this
kind
of
resistance
in
planning
vacations.
So
I
took
a
leap
of
faith
and
emailed
Gilad.
He
responded
almost
immediately
and
was
available
to
do
a
call,
a
Skype
session
or
email.
I
told
him
the
variables.
Within
a
day
he
had
mapped
out
a
proposed
itinerary
for
an
8
day
tour
which
would
include
archeological
sites
and
a
dig,
historic
sites,
a
Jeep
ride
in
the
Golan,
a
wonderful
horse
farm
in
the
Galilee,
swimming,
hiking,
a
"bar
mitzvah"
at
the
Wailing
Wall,
Christian
sites,
of
course
Jerusalem,
Masada,
the
Dead
Sea
etc,,
hotel
recommendations,
car
rental,
everything.
I
had
very
little
to
add
as
it
looked
like
it
addressed
all
of
my
needs
as
well
as
anticipating
the
needs
of
my
wife
and
our
two
boys
ages
10
and
13.
so
we
booked
it
and
hoped
for
the
best.
Gilad
proved
to
be
the
perfect
guide.
Incredibly
knowledgeable
about
Israel's
history
and
current
political
situation
and
able
to
share
his
passion
in
a
way
that
resonated
with
all
of
us.
He
was
punctual,
even-tempered,
upbeat,
had
great
restaurant
recommendations,
easy-going,
great
with
the
kids,
a
great
story-teller
and
made
you
feel
the
history
of
the
spot
your
were
standing
on,
gave
us
the
amount
of
privacy
we
needed,
the
list
could
just
go
on.
We
all
agreed
after
the
trip
that
it
would
not
have
been
the
same
without
Gilad.
We
all
left
with
a
passion
for
Israel
that
we
never
thought
we
would
have
and
a
desire
to
return.
Did
I
say
the
trip
was
amazing
because
we
had
the
most
amazing
tour
guide
imaginable?
Well
it
was.
So.
Unless
you
have
ben
to
Israel
many
times
before
or
have
family
there,
I
highly
recommend
a
tour
guide.
If
you
want
the
best
tour
guide
you
could
possibly
find,
hire
Gilad
Suffrin.
It
will
be
the
best
travel
decision
you
ever
made.
