Okay don’t expect Michelin star food but it is good honest food at a reasonable price. What you can’t expect is the best staff, Ben, Vicky and all the staff are professional, nothing is ever to much trouble. Regardless of how busy the restaurant is all the staff find time to make you feel most welcome and part of the family.

Absolutely rank. Food tasted like soap. Potatoes were green. Stuffing was grim. Regular visitors however we shall not be coming back.

Great budget place to eat if you enjoy a roast. It was very hot the day we went and even hotter inside so that's why I gave a 4 for atmosphere. The meat was plentiful and succulent, the potatoes were fluffy and although there was lots of veg it was a tad overcooked. As you help yourself you can have as much or as little as you like, great value. My daughter had coke (you get free refills) I had wine that was a little pricey but there was cheaper available, husband had beer which was well priced. Overall a good meal at a reasonable price for families.

We decided spontaneously to have lunch out after seeing some family nearby. My wife booked a table through the automated phone system, as we knew the time of day would be busy. This proved to be valuable as when we arrived it was very busy. Food was good, meats were not dry like some places, great selection of vegetables after meat selection. Waitress was very kind and happy. Would eat here again

Not the greatest carvery going, though the chef on this visit (19th Oct 23, at lunch time) was very cheerful, which made a pleasant change and the meats were cooked to perfection. The vegetables were a bit dry, needing lashings of gravy, but I guess this is due to being left on the hot plate for so long. Can't fault the service, our waitress was very attentive and cheerful, which always makes for a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, I cannot recall her name? Overall, the food was okay for the money and the atmosphere was pleasant.

I like to come quite often as i am way too lazy to cook a roast and appreciate a healthy dinner. I always am happy with the choice on offer and for the money you can't beat it. The staff are always nice, especially Emma who is just so warm and friendly i now ask to sit in her section when i come. A nice experience.

When deciding on what meat to have I went for Beef and Gammon. On the Gammon there was alot of fat across the top which is not nice to eat. So while it looked like I had been given a good sized portion at leat half of it was fat. I didn't bother to go back because the queue were so long. Also the gravy is to runny. We then ordered pudding which were nice they took a long time to arrive.

Used to enjoy going here, but not anymore. Yes I know they have increased the prices, but they are very tight on the meat. Yorkshire puddings dry and horrible as been left under the hot plate to long. Vegetables dry and tasteless and the gravey is to watery needs to be a bit thicker

Usually like a Toby, we do lunch with the Grandchildren. This time was so disappointed. Gammon was salty, potatoes over cooked, peas like bullets and the gravy tasted weird. All 6 of us didn't eat it. The table was dirty and service awful. Such a shame as we go quite often. Might be a while before we return. Told the waitress we have a blue light card yet she dumped a full price bill down and tutted when I asked for it to be redone. We waited ages at an empty counter for some one to notice us and carve the meat. It was 2 PM and not busy so no excuse in my mind. Whole meal felt like it was the leftovers from lunch.

We did pre-book, and I would recommend this because it has been very busy on both occasions. First visit, we didn't, we still got a table it was quite late in the evening the food was amazing better than I expected. Staff were lovely. The service was quick. I will definitely go back again, I would say roughly £10 an adult with unlimited soft drinks. Great deal, amazing food. Friendly service. Definitely worth a visit

We were visiting family in Kent and had the offer of half price roast on my phone. We thought that we'd take full advantage as a roast cooked for you is always delightful and we weren't disappointed. We went two consecutive evenings and both were as good as each other. We had first class service from two different waitresses, Levi on the first night and Sarah on the second night.

Place is way too cramped, stupid queuing system, would make more sense to move the veg away from the meat to streamline the que or better yet use the waiters to bring the meat to the tables then just go up and get vegetables. We tried ordering via just eat and the app said they had no meat, when we rang them to query it, they said best to come up as they have loads of food. Once we got there we then had to queue up with everyone else and pack 4 meals into silly containers rather than them preparing the meals for us like they would have done via the app. Just didn't seem to make much sense.

Ease of ordering especially for a family of 10 plus a friendly waiter made our visit relatively simple. Restaurant was clean and drinks easy to access. The quality of of meat was good but vegetables and potatoes quite poor. Roast potatoes strangest texture and inedible (frozen / not fresh or maybe fresh then reheated?). Mash was like water and stuffing was like a fine crumble. Parsnip dauphinois was nice but grey looking.

On a total whim, my partner and I decided to go here. We were welcomed in at the door by the manager, and our server was really lovely. The food was great and we both went away with fully bellies! :) Will definitely return in the future.

Food was terrible. Went for a carvery with a group of 6 on a Sunday. We were expecting it to be busy , it was. We were expecting the food to be half decent as well… veg undercooked, only carrots, peas and cauliflower to choose from, all were hard and not cooked at all. Meat looked rough, covered in fat, burnt, chewy and hard consistency. Only nice thing was the desert and the staff…won’t be going back

Always liked Toby's as meat is lovely every time. Last time we visited choice of sides especially vegetables wasn't great (potatoes, carrots, peas, cauliflower cheese) and macaroni cheese - that is all was offered - but it was fairly busy so was understandable and enough for the good meal. Also, thank you for bringing pork crackling back - I've missed it so much, definitely will be coming back more often :) Staff were great and welcoming, also I was with a wheelchair user and we found it fairly easy to get him appropriate table.

Good eatery for a roast. I had the beef which was good this time. Veggies are a little overdone for me but otherwise what is to be expected. Service was fast and Neesa was attentive and pleasant. I was tucked away off the main area but she was still very good at checking on me.

Had carvery. Let's be honest it's not Michelin starred. However it is good value for money. The veg was watery overcooked and some had been lying for some time. Crackling was good as was the turkey and ham and mashed potatoes. It was good fuel and a nice way to socialize without paying through the nose for it.

Accommodated a group of 18 no problem, even added an extra on the day, all had the carvery, all to a high standard. Would like to give a special mention to the waitress, very attentive despite having other customers to look after, made sure we were topped up for drinks, nothing was to much trouble, didn't get her name unfortunately. All told a really good lunch.

I love a roast, I'm easily pleased and you can't go wrong with a carvery. One of my favourite eat out places, staff are always friendly and super helpful. Good service too, although this does depend of what time of day you go in. If you go in on a busier day, expect a slower service, staff can't help it. Good selection of meats, veg, potatoes gravies and condiments. The atmosphere is probably really good, but it's not one for me, it can get hectic and loud. I have SPD and not a fan of using ear defenders, talk about huge neon sign. In all the times I've been there, nothing has got put of hand. It's just noisy. Again, depends on time of day, it's not always noisy.

My eyes are obviously bigger than my belly and... I've never seen my partner leave food... Until this visit. It was amazing and such a choice... All cooked to perfection. The service was excellent and attentive.

The food was good, but the restaurant was too busy f open the number of staff. They were clearly overwhelmed and were therefore not attentive in any way. We had an issue with a drink supplied as a substitute due to lack of stock but this wasn’t explained simply put on the table and walked away. When we asked for an alternative we had to ask 3 times and in the end we had pretty much finished our meals. The restaurant was very warm as well

We only managed to book two tables for two, but when we turned up the front of house staff managed to get us on a table for four. All of tge staff were friendly and helpful. I had never been to the Toby Carvery previously, so I was very impressed by the level of service and the food was very good too.

We had a great server in Shelly, she was friendly and efficient. I would like to have her energy as she didn't stop going from table to table serving and making sure everything was OK. A great credit to your company. The food as usual was great, the Chefs being friendly and helpful. We will certainly be visiting again very soon.

The carvery is always very busy especially on a Sunday where it is generally fully booked. It is best to book a table in advance of your visit as we were seeing people being turned away due to this and them not able to accept walk ins. Despite booking a table we had to wait for a space to become free so we sat at the bar with a buzzer waiting for our turn. There was a family of 3 in the same position but during their wait, other groups of 3 who had only just arrived were being taken through suggesting they were sticking to specific tables for each booking. The queue for the carvery is always really long but does go down surprisingly quick and it's less of a wait then waiting for food to be served at tables. The carvery was great, plenty of meat and you help yourself to the rest. All of it was really good. If you have kids, it's a good idea to look at the menu as the kids can get 2 courses for a set price, it only worked out 50p more for them to have ice cream after their carvery with toppings and sauce. Over all, the food is great but not a very relaxed environment due to how busy it is. I also think its a bit naughty that the carvery is more expensive on a Sunday but I think there could be more meat options, I'm not sure.

😠 I only visit Margate twice a year for days out. I have gone into the Mechanical Elephant on each visit to order breakfast. When I visited last year, the food was virtually cold & I had to return it. I thought that a year on, it could not be that bad again. I visited about 8:30am & there were only tw...
