I almost picked a different place as I let myself get influenced by the non-perfect rating. I am so glad I didn't! Friendly staff, nice location, parking, and more importantly excellent food. I recommend the dessert sharer, delicious 😋

A really lovely place, I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could but at lil pricy. Not saying the food is not worth it, just not to my usual budget. Already planning the next visit and took some Nutella Doughnuts home. A lil treat for now and then, but also has a pub attached for the weekend tipple. Nice

Was honestly expecting way better tasting food than had for the money spent on the food/drinks! Have definitely had better food and cocktails in a pub. The most disappointing was the steak at £18 that was dry & chewy! All meals were mainly loaded with fries. Burgers were not as one would expect in a pub. The fish and chips had a way too small curled up fish. Worth the money? Not sure! And yes roast chicken is only available on Sunday! Plus points: Service was good and the staff were lovely. Not sure if any Covid secure settings are being adapted?

Nice pub in a picturesque setting with a decent amount of parking. The staff were friendly and attentive. There was a decent selection of food that did stray away from your usual 'pub grub' fair to offer something a little different. I had the Katsu Chicken Burger (very nice), with Bacon & Cheese loaded fries (very nice) and the chicken and chorizo Mac & Cheese side (nice but very heavy & greasy due to the chorizo). All in all, I would recommend this place for a spot of lunch.

You have never tried an Artichoke Sunday roast??? Don’t wait anymore. It’s a real experience. Great food, lovely pub. I would not go anywhere else.

Very good pub with a varied menu and very good food. Good pint of real ale as well. Staff exceptional and service with a smile throughout. May appear expensive but you pay for what you get with generous portions. We went mid week for lunch and it was quit full so recommend booking.

Nice "pub", spoiled by imposed table service. No bar service allowed. Guinness below par. Lots of room for improvement.

Had a lovely evening except for the service at the end of the night. As a local I hadn’t been for several months and went with friends but what a shame a couple of staff spoke to us at 11:30pm to hurry us to leave!! When your customers are finishing their drinks and freshening up for the journey home may I suggest you don’t need to continually advise you are closing!! Appreciate everyone wants to go home but save it for a decent hour and not at 11:30pm!!! Now I remember why I don’t chose to use your venue for such occasions!! 2 pubs on the Green and one I won’t be using in a hurry - customer service goes a long way!!!

This was surprisingly a great little chill spot with good tasting food. I was expecting bland bar food, but got very tasty meal, the cheese burger was really juicy and tasted like it was made fresh and not from frozen patties. Drinks service was a bit slow because the place was crowded but this comes with Friday nights I guess.

Nice spot to have a drink and some food, especially in good weather. Had the Chillie burger (which had some kind of pulled pork/beek loaded on the patty) and upgraded my fries to the duck fires. The burger concept was great, and the flavours were good, but the burger patty itself was way over cooked to the point it was a bit too hard and not that enjoyable. Fries were great, just needed a few more of them!

Good service. Went there with a Ukrainian friend and so the boys had the chicken Kiev. Unfortunately it wasn’t anything like a traditional one and was quite greasy. The veggie options were great and the dog loved his ice cream 😁

We had our wedding at the Artichoke at the beginning of September and we couldn’t have wished for it to go any better. We had 90 people for a sit down 3 course meal - everyone commented how amazing the food was. The team were brilliant from the service during the meal to the evening reception ensuring everyone always had a drink. The venue was just perfect and they went to so much effort to create exactly what we wanted. We had the best wedding ever and wouldn’t change a thing!

What a great little place! Amazing food, service and atmosphere. We went on a Sunday late afternoon and we hadn’t booked so they only had availability inside the tent area. I was a little apprehensive thinking it would be cold but the tent was lovely, warm and cosy. We ordered the Mac and cheese, cheese and bacon loaded fries and I ordered the chicken roast. Apart from the gravy being a little under seasoned (to my taste- everyone is different), the roast was delicious! The price was reasonable for a roast and the service was great too. Highly recommend. We will certainly be back.

Came here for lunch - had the Kajun Chicken Burger, absolutely the best chicken burger I've ever tasted. Full of flavour and extremely well presented and made. Very good service and polite, helpful staff. Sat in the outside "tent" area, very nice atmosphere and an enjoyable experience.

Me and my mum visited today and we were incredibly disappointed. We have been to this pub a handful of times before and we’ve always had a great time but today was the opposite. I understand that it’s Sunday and it would be busy but from the second we walked in we felt so unwelcome. We were left standing by the door for a while with staff just walking past us and ignoring us, at this point I wish we had just left and gone somewhere else. We then ordered drinks (coke and lemonade) which honestly tasted like fizzy water! And to top things off the staff were unfriendly and this experience has really put us off and made us feel reluctant to visit again!

We recently had a work party for 12, we opted for the Christmas menu and I must say from the moment we walked through the door to finishing our deserts was a complete joy. The staff are super attentive and are there when you need them so never too in your face. The food was top notch and the atmosphere was bang on for a beautiful old pub on a village green super festive and perfectly lit! I have had lunch here before and the burgers are first class would definitely recommend if you are passing or local. Big shout out to the manager nothing was too much for him, great service, great food.

Lovely pub with a large menu and very cosy interior. My friend and i rocked up without booking on a Saturday lunch with out two kids and were happily accommodated. Staff were helpful and friendly and the food very tasty. Higher end pricing, but then nothing is cheap anymore if you want quality food.

On my last visit a couple of months ago I only gave a stingy 4 stars. How could I? 5 stars all round! Hospitality was great, as was the food (2 X fish & chips, 1 beef and ale pie & mash, 1 sea bass and a smoked haddock kedgeree). Everyone enjoyed their food and there was no need for the waitress to apologise for slow service – it seemed perfectly fine to us - the place was very busy, but it was not a problem. It was my bad that I didn’t ask more about the pie – I had hoped for a two crust pie, not a top crust. It was still great, but a bit difficult to keep the pie dish from sliding off my plate while eating it! We probably won’t order another kedgeree in summer as the flies were rather partial to it as well – so much so that I began to wonder if there was anything wrong with the other food, which they ignored ;) Not sure what could be done about the flies – fly screens are not very common in the UK.

Christmas book club, table for 9, great nook reserved for our party great selection off the menu, did not need to book in advance. Lovely atmosphere, Christmas crackers on the table would have been nice. Room and pub beautifully decorated.
