My family has stayed at this hotel many times over the years and was once on the tip of the list of favorite places to stay. Not so much anymore. The location is great, but the service and rooms have gone down terribly. Our rooms A/C worked decent, but not great. Even with the curtains closed and it on high, it took several hours to cool down the room. I asked to be moved and without looking at the computer was told there were no other rooms available. The restaurant is definitely high on price for the amount of food they serve. $40 for 1 adult and 2 kids????? They only had eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes. It's not worth the money but the convenience. I am saddened to say that my family will be finding another place to stay when we come for visits.

Just really disappointing. Our family came to Topeka having no idea about the area and had to guess that the building next to the event center was the hotel since there aren't any signs on the building or grounds to let you know its the hotel. There is no complementary breakfast, its a $12.99 buffet thats open for 2 hours. Rooms are either king or full size beds, no queens. The biggest issue are the rooms. Rooms are very outdated. Comforters had small moth like holes in them, although the pillows were nice. Holes in the celing in the bathroom. The shower drain doesn't drain, which is disgusting. The coffee in the rooms tastes like soil and ciggerette water. Next time, I can definitely find the same quality of hotel for much cheaper.

We stayed here on a whim on a cross country drive. The room was okay, nothing remarkable. The shower leaked all over the floor and the sink took forever to drain. The “restaurant” was a buffet…it was the worst $20 of food I have ever purchased. Taco beef had no seasoning on it, like straight ground beef. The ‘fajita chicken’ was basically soup. On top of the sub par dining the woman running the buffet also tipped herself $10 on our credit card without our consent. If you end up here…don’t go to the restaurant, everything else is meh.

The rooms were fine beds were comfortable but there was no maid service provided and although room service (food) was shown to be available under hotel services there was nothing but a snack bar vending machine in the lobby. While the actual location of the hotel was fine the meeting rooms for the convention I was attending were at the farthest end of the building and no accommodations provided for handicapped to get back and forth from our rooms to the meeting areas. The catered food was outrageously expensive and very poorly prepared. I will never attend a function at this hotel again. And have urged our convention personnel to never consider it as a meeting place again either.

Stopped by last minute looking for a place to lay my head. Seemingly nice facilities, rooms were a little more compared to other places but it is located far enough from I-70 so you can sleep peacefully without road noise. I would have stayed for the evening but they wanted to charge me $75 for a service dog. I was told by the front desk that is the charge for any "pet" regardless of service status or not. I would have paid $25, the normal fee at most hotels I've stayed in but $75 made it a $200+ cost for a three star hotel. Not worth it so I went to La Quinta down the road a bit in KC.

I stayed at this hotel many years ago when it first opened up. We stayed there recently, and it has gone down hill a lot! The room wasn't that clean. There's some updates that need to be made. Breakfast is supposed to stay open until 10 am. When we stayed recently, they shut down breakfast an hour early. The woman at front desk said it was dead so that's why. I said, some people do sleep in. She said, we'll I'm up early. So we didn't get breakfast. I took my kids to swim at their pool instead. The pool water was cloudy and dirty. We had trouble with our key to enter our room. Normally at hotels/motels they have a maid going around knocking on doors checking to see if those that haven't checked out yet, are getting ready to leave. This place had a big guy going around knocking on doors that was very rude. He must be their bodyguard. I also got charged more I was supposed to. Save your money and stay somewhere else! Seriously! The nicest person we ran into there was a janitor. Kudos to him!

I’ll start with the positives, the staff was nice & helpful, however in a five night stay our room was never fully cleaned. I asked for new towels on day three, maybe that confused things. The photos of the rooms are deceiving with their fish eye lens. The doubles are full size beds, not queens, it was a snug fit for the hubs and I who are average size people. The a/c never worked properly, we had it on 60 and it was never even remotely that cool. The shower pressure was pretty good, but drain was super slow. The walls are paper thin. Since all the rooms open to the center of the open hotel, loud gatherings in the lobby bar could be heard well into the night. On several occasions, I could clearly make out a screaming conversation in the room next door. In general, the hotel was only so-so clean, common area bathrooms had broken doors, missing ceiling panels or no soap. The food was pretty good, the restaurant was only open for lunch, a $13 buffet. They catered our conference for breakfast and dinners, which were good. Again with the pictures… the picture of the pool area clearly shows a hot tub, which apparently has been filled in, disappointing. There is really nothing around, downtown is 5-10 minutes up the road and Walmart and other stores about 15 minutes away. Can’t image I’ll ever be back in Topeka, but if I were, I would probably pick a different place to lay my head.

Room was nice and big. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was nice size, but sink took over an hour to drain and toilet got stopped up several times. But what I really disliked was the staff. At times could a bit uncaring.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel. We came last year with a sports team and didn't find it great then. We came back this year and it has gone downhill a lot! We booked a family of four and only received two towels. Depending who you ask they may give you only two or if you get someone really nice they'll give you more. There seems to be no consistency. We found a receipt in between the sheet and the cover indicating that nobody changed the top sheet from the previous guests. That's just disturbing to me in a hotel. We went down to the front desk to ask for two additional pillows and they said they would have somebody send them up. 2 hours later we still don't have pillows. I stayed on hold for the front desk for over 10 minutes, seriously 10 minutes not exaggerating, and the phone kept ringing and ringing and nobody would pick up. Then they just give you a busy signal. Evidently existing customers they don't care about. We called for room service and got the same, no one answered. Do yourself a favor and find another hotel to stay at. We will not be coming back under any circumstances.

Key cards stopped working 4 different times. Breakfast is only 7-9a and is $12/person. It's not worth it. Cleaning service knocked on our door when we had the DND sign on. Bar closes at 9p. Do not recommend unfortunately. Spend your money elsewhere. Especially with a free breakfast.

Here for a dog show at the event center next door. 107 degrees so we stayed 4 nights. After having some bad owners the hotel is making many positive changes and services and it was evident during my stay. The rooms were clean again, lots of friendly staff, plenty of amenities for travelers with show dogs and the bar was back in full swing with friendly staff. They even fixed the elevators! Hoping for more years of good times staying hear.

You get what you pay for! We paid 50$ for a king bed , it was surprisingly clean , bed was comfortable, the place looks really cool. The handsome young man at the front desk was incredibly friendly and shared a ton of info about the hotel was interesting! A little disappointed that breakfast is $12 ( it’s buffet style tho) haven’t decided if we’re gonna do that or look for something cheaper. Would recommend!!!! Would stay again!!!

Great experience and clean facility. The pool was heated and super clean. The work out room is basic but at the same time very versatile. Our son power lifts and he was able to get a solid workout in with the equipment. We had an issue with the keys self resetting locking out of our room but we found out that if you hood them next to your phone, it will clear them because of the nfc feature of your phone. All in all, great experience and would recommend.

They did not have my room ready on time, then they lost my reservation and tried to change the type of room that I had ordered. The rooms were okay, but not anything special, especially for the price and hassle. The single bed room does not have a fridge.

Very kind staff. For some reason only offer housekeeping upon request. Breakfast is not free and is super early hours(we never could catch it). I enjoyed staying here :)

Liked the room size. Staff friendly. The issue is they are now pet friendly. The room directly across from us had a dog running loose in room. Dog was scratching at door and barking from 9pm until 1 am when the owners came back to there room. You could hear owners saying oh did you missus. I can tell you yes he did as he barked for 4 hours. The hotel manager tried on two different occasions to knock indoor to see if owners were there but they were out. Several people in our Hall complained as it was definitely preventing people from sleeping. Bad night. Won’t go back if they continue to allow open pets spread out throughout the hotel. Hate that as I have stayed in this hotel when visiting Topeka for the last 20 years.

From the pictures online it look like a great place to stay until we pulled up. I don't know if they're renovating or what they're doing on the outside but it was not what I was expecting. Walking in the main entrance everything look good and then we got into our room and that's where the complaint begins. For me I always look in the bathroom first and noticed that there was feces on the toilet handle in the shower was not that clean. My nightstand was missing a light bulb and some of the other lamps did not work. It wasn't a bad stay but I wasn't impressed compared to some of the other places I've stayed before. The bathroom not being cleaned was it big thing for me.

Beautiful facilities. Appears well maintained. Room was clean. Felt safe even though it didn’t appear to be in the best of neighborhoods. Ply one complaint was there was no information on how to order room service. Other hotels I’ve been in have offered room service quick menus and this was not provided. I believe their website says room service available. This is just me being lazy and not calling for a menu or more info, but alas it’s why I didn’t take away any stars. Just more of a suggestion.

The service was great, only 4 stars because of the wait. There was only one person checking people in/being a cashier. Had to wait a really long time just to buy a few snacks. Other than that the hotelnwas beautiful, very spacious, and clean, smelt wonderful in the rooms!

The restaurant staff was great. The soap dispensers in the room were empty & only 1 wash cloth. The sink dispensers were replaced but the pump was locked and we couldn't use soap at the sink. The room was clean. Minimal staff but most were very nice.

Excellent accomodations, clean room & attentive friendly, awesome staff. I needed a place to host my son's graduation party and their Governors suite was a perfect fit. It was spacious & included all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay & party hosting! I highly recommend and will stay again. I couldn't be more pleased & thank you Hotel Topeka for helping me celebrate such an important special occasion!

Well kept property. Rooms are terrific, spacious and comfortable. Large bathroom. Carpet was actually clean! Hangers that are not attached to the rod! 😁 Only complaint, I bought the room from a 3rd party vendor like Travelocity, and the hotel charged my card $50 for "incidentals." I knew I would have none, and $50 is exorbitant! They assured me I'll get this back, but that's not the point. If they wanted reassurance as to my card validity, they could have run it for $1.00, and I would have no complaint. I assume this does not happen when you pay the hotel directly for the room.
