Treasures
of
Transylvania
Tour
(sold
by
FRAM
local
service
provider
Karpaten):
Summary:
stay
does
not
conform
to
the
description,
insufficient
quality
of
services,
to
avoid
absolutely.
TRAVEL:
Staggered
arrivals
of
participants,
five-hour
wait
at
the
airport.
Same
for
the
start.
Travel
in
an
old
air-conditioned
bus
with
a
competent
driver.
The
guide
is
a
dreamy
philosopher,
who
was
quickly
overwhelmed
by
the
administrative
management
of
the
stay.
It
is
interesting
if
he
agrees
to
let
go
a
little
of
the
description
sheets
that
he
reads
throughout
the
stay.
Language-wise,
people
mainly
speak
Romanian
and
German.
ACCOMMODATION:
two
days
at
the
Rozmarin
Hotel
in
Prédéal.
Poor
quality
of
rooms.
The
second
evening
a
festive
dinner
with
musical
entertainment.
One
night
at
the
Elisabeta
Hotel,
in
Alba
Iulia,
isolated
far
from
everything.
Lunch
empty
in
a
quarter
of
an
hour.
Leak
in
the
bathroom
ceiling
in
a
bedroom.
Casa
Bazna,
for
two
nights.
Small
subdivisions
subdivided
into
housing.
Everything
is
tinkered
with,
especially
the
electricity.
The
heating
is
turned
off
at
night,
temperature
at
night
at
0°C.
My
toilet
flush
was
leaking,
fixed
quickly.
The
second
day
no
more
hot
water.
Other
members
of
the
group
ran
out
of
water
in
the
evening.
My
duvet
had
strange
brown
spots.
Back
to
Prédéal,
to
Piemonte
this
time,
nothing
to
say.
FOOD:
Repetitive
food,
pork,
polenta
and
potatoes.
The
menu
always
included
a
soup
(good),
a
main
course
and
a
dessert
(always
a
cake).
No
coffee,
no
dairy,
rarely
vegetables.
Savory
breakfast.
The
vegetarians
in
the
group
were
poorly
served.
A
decent
local
beer,
Ursus,
but
wine
of
uneven
quality.
Sparkling
water
is
automatically
served.
OPTIONS:
Tour
ticket
prices
included,
full
board,
and
two
excursions.
On-site
options
are
CHEAPER
than
in
advance.
On
the
other
hand,
Karpaten
requires
you
to
pay
in
euros,
so
double
exchange
(Lei
/
Euros)!
Full
board
is
too
expensive
in
relation
to
the
service.
ACTIVITIES:
the
description
sold
with
the
trip
does
not
correspond
to
the
actual
services.
The
guide
had
a
different
description
of
the
stay.
The
first
day,
with
a
visit
to
Peles
Castle,
simply
did
not
happen
(we
were
at
the
airport).
The
second
day
no
visit
to
the
museum
of
the
first
Romanian
school.
The
Protestant
churches
(seven
in
all)
all
look
the
same,
were
all
disfigured
at
the
time
of
the
Reformation,
and
are
especially
of
interest
to
the
Germans.
The
third
day,
a
good
surprise
with
the
visit
to
the
museum
of
icons
on
glass
(very
moving)
and
its
small
adjoining
(orthodox!)
church.
We
are
welcomed
there
in
French.
However,
no
visit
to
the
village.
The
fourth
day,
visit
from
Alba
Julia.
The
town
has
historical
interest
and
Vauban-style
fortifications.
Then
the
Church
of
the
Holy
Trinity,
Greco-Roman
this
time,
to
see.
When
arriving
in
Bazna,
the
carriage
ride
will
not
take
place.
Fifth
day
optional
visit
to
Kokental,
no
castles,
only
churches.
People
who
had
not
taken
this
additional
visit
had
to
take
a
taxi,
they
were
refused
the
use
of
the
bus,
even
though
it
was
on
the
route!
Sixth
day
visit
to
Rasnov
Castle…
which
has
been
under
construction
for
a
year
and
a
half
(description
never
updated)!
A
ruined
castle
as
a
replacement.
In
the
afternoon,
part
of
the
group
organizes
itself
to
go
to
Peles
Castle.
Here
again
Karpaten
refuses
the
use
of
the
bus,
you
will
have
to
take
taxis.
Peles
Castle
is
a
gem
(photos).
Seventh
day,
visit
to
Bucharest
by
bus,
for
those
who
didn't
have
the
plane
too
early.
After-sales
service:
I
contacted
FRAM's
help
desk
three
times,
and
they
directed
me
to
Karpaten.
The
local
contact
number
is
wrong,
and
the
Karpaten
landline
number
never
answers.
PRICE:
I
paid
€911
with
options
and
the
single
supplement.
In
the
end,
the
service
provided
is
not
worth
that
price.
