We initially booked our stay at Pertiwi Spa & Resort late 2022, and were concerned about all the negative reviews. Should we book elsewhere? What are we going to do? But we got there early Jan 2023 and it was lovely. It’s a sprawling resort, and we were lucky to have booked a 1 bedroom villa with a pool. Due to the sprawling nature of the property, the villas are up the back of the property, and you have to walk up some pretty steep inclines to get to these. So, if you are looking for something more accessible or have mobility challenges, I would suggest requesting a hotel room towards the front of the property. Alternatively, there is a back entrance to the hotel property from Jalan Bisma rd, which we discovered halfway through our stay - it was much easier on the legs to get to the villas from there! This back entrance also gives you easy access to some of the other Pertiwi hotels if you have friends staying nearby (the main entrances to the Pertiwi 2 and Pertiwi 3 hotels are located on Jalan Bisma road). The spa resort is a little run down, but it was much nicer than some of the previous reviews had stated. Yes, the electrical sockets in half of our villa weren’t working, but as long as the lights, aircon and fridge are working, that’s all you need! Some of the decor, curtains and sheets were a bit tired, and I’m sure with time these will be replaced. I’d also seen some previous reviews from people upset that there were unexpected lizard visitors in their villa pool. Maybe if you’re concerned about lizards, Bali isn’t the place for you. Since reopening after COVID, the front restaurant/pool is now a separate restaurant/bar called Donna, which has some amazing cocktails, but it is not included in any inclusive meals offered by the hotel. The pool at Donna can now only be used by restaurant patrons, but that’s okay because the main resort pool in the middle of the hotel property is gorgeous anyway. I wanted to write this review to give potential visitors some relief if they were nervous about poor reviews. Things in Ubud have changed since reopening after the pandemic, and the local businesses are doing their best to change and adapt as best they can. I would definitely consider staying at Pertiwi Spa & Resort again in the future.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights accompanied by 2 other friends, our room was far away from reception so we always asked for the free buggy transport. On our last day, while going up a hill, the driver lost control of the buggy and it went down in a really fast speed knocking my two friends that were in the back seat to the floor. The buggy crashed a side wall on its way down and thank god it didn’t run over them. The wall was completely destroyed, I cannot imagine what would have happened if it didn’t hit the wall. However, for me that was not the biggest problem. As soon as that happened The driver started complaining that we put him in trouble with his boss because he couldn’t be driving 3 people in the buggy - but that is not our responsibility. We were never told that during any of the days we stayed in the hotel, on the contrary, we always went in 3 on the buggy. A lot of employees came to see how was the buggy and the wall, but none of them asked me and my friends how we were or even said sorry. My two friends that were in the back were severely injured and we had absolutely NO ONE talk to us to ask how they were or apologize. We had to go on our own to treat the injuries in the lobby and left without a word from the manager or the driver. Do not recommend this hotel To no one.

A lovely stay, but access in the resort limited for those that have difficulty walking up and down stairs. Your garden is beautifully kept, your staff is amazing, but the resort is very tired and Villas need major attention. Breakfast was basic but good.

One of the best 3-star hotels I've ever stayed in. Great rooms that are serviced daily by very attentive staff. Restaurant on sight, serving a nice breakfast daily that may or may not be included with your booking. Beautiful infinity pool on sight. Set in a lush garden type setting with Koi ponds and a river running through it. Highly recommended!

I was there for 1 hour and I left to stay at the hostel down the road - which I was much happier in. I changed rooms three times and each time there were problems with the rooms. They are very run down - damp smells, toilet was dirty, sink was blocked and full of water, doors weren’t working, they were very dark and the bathrooms were in terrible condition. I’ve never left a review before but I felt it was important to leave one here

this hotel has potential but no good manager. The rooms are dirty. Our room was not cleaned for two days in a row, in the end the towels were taken away completely .... Breakfasts ... nothing special, but tolerable. The territory is large and beautiful, many flowers, location next to the "Monkey Forest". A good tip for the owner of the hotel: find a good manager and teach the staff how to clean the rooms, buy a vacuum cleaner to collect the hair of previous guests .. and

I always love staying here and will continue to stay here every time I visit Ubud! My favourite things are the fact that the rooms are set in such a BEAUTIFUL garden with enormous trees and beautiful flowers, and sitting on the balcony looking out onto it is breathtaking 😍🙏 the staff are so kind and accommodating, they let me leave my bags, and they gave me an upgrade as I checked in! The pool is huge and the gardeners take so much care to make the garden perfect and always have a smile for you as you walk past :) the bed had a mosquito net, the air conditioning was fantastic, the room was perfectly clean and everything wonderful! The location is literally perfect as it's walkable to the monkey forest / yoga barn / markets - you couldn't get more central than this place.

We had stayed here 10 years ago - the place hasn’t changed since then which means that the place is looking a little worse for wear. The place itself has the feel of an ancient temple with lots of trees, statues and pools (only one swimming pool). It has lots of steps and steep ramps so I would not recommend it for older or mobility impaired individuals. We stayed in a deluxe room which is a room with a front porch, a king bed with a mosquito net, an armoire, desk and a bathroom with a shower. The room was a decent size although the A/C was barely keeping up. That said, it is a great value for the money! I would come back (just with a better AC)

Beautiful location & Gorgeous property. Coz location is near Ubud Monkey Forest, you can walk around and enjoy steet food or just hand out in cafe near that place. Staff is very helpful. Pools is awesome. Facilities in the room is old but clean and overall is ok. Will be back here to bring my family from Jakarta. 😉

Nice enough hotel in very central location with parking. Rooms basic but comfortable. Spa mostly out of action. Hotel was massively under occupied and felt like only at 10% capacity which meant very little atmosphere. Staff very accomodating.

Beautiful place. Location is in the center of everything and yet it's so peaceful and quiet in the resort. The whole property is fairytale-like, long pathways across the place leading to rooms are surrounded with dimmed lights and lovely sculptures and flower trees. There's also infinity pool, the water is warm and clean, and the energy is simply indescribable. The rooms do need to be renovated, especially the bathroom. But they were spacious and clean. The air conditioner needs to be serviced.

Stayed here for 4 nights & when we got here, we were plesently surprised with the room & the privacy. However, from here, everything went down hill. 1. Power went out twice, leaving us in the dark. However the staff was quick to resolve this. 2. No telephone in the room to contact staff, we were notified on check in. 3. AC didn't work to full capacity. 4. No hot water on many occasions, had to shower with cold water. 5. Most importantly, the room wasn't sealed allowing all the bugs/insects to enter into the room. Even with the mosquito net, we still got bitten multiple times. We had sleepless nights here due to this reason. We did inform the staff, who mentioned they would spray the room, but there was no difference. The resort is very steep & would not recommend for people with mobility issues. On a positive note, the staff were very attentive & were quick to respond to our queries about the room when they occurred. Location is very good, lots of places to eat near by & really close to the monkey Forrest

Location is very convenient. Easy access to restaurants, cafes, tourists attractions. Price is worth it for location. Staff is also very friendly and accommodating. Room is clean with functional AC. Would recommend!

Located in prime area. Property is huge with nice landscape. Rooms are bit old. Breakfast is good. Worthy for a night or 2 if u want to live in prime shopping street of Ubud.

The location is the best ! However, the rooms are not. There is no way any person on earth could tolerate the noise/music coming from the Donna Bar next door! I am a very accommodating person but this was beyond ridiculous! Think of trying to sleep while your headphones on the highest level till 1:30am. Additionally, WiFi was spotty at best. Of course, asking to move to a room to the other side of the property, my new room has a tv and phone, both not working, no hangers for clothes… and I’ve only been here 5 minutes while waiting for things to get repaired. Can’t wait to leave. So frustrated! The breakfast at the restaurant was served cold! Cold everything, eggs, pancakes.etc, the toast from the 1/2 broken toaster was warm (just on one side!) As a Consultant Business Analyst I found the cause: The owner refuses to invest in the problem areas even though he has been told numerous times about the issues, particularly the noise level.

The hotel looks nice, but the rooms need a lot of improvement and maintenance. I only stayed 3 nights and have to change 2 times to different rooms and the conditions the room. - the 1st room has cockroaches 🪳 🪳🪳 (3 at the same time) I had to throw away all my personal items which they nos returned - the 2nd room had a smelly bathroom, with mold, and the water of the sink didn’t go down - the 3rd room (they upgrade me) the shower water dead stagnated and didn’t go away - with possibilities to flood the bathroom and also mold in the ceiling Although they upgrade me when I had to change for the 2nd time, they didn’t have any monetary compensation, only a spa massage :/ Also, the cleaning guy entered to the room while I was still sleeping without knocking the door

Convenient location, near to bars, restaurants, cafes and shops. However those units nearer to the main road could be exposed to bar music till late at night. The resort has many steps and steep slopes, very challenging for the wheelchair bound and the elderly. The villa that we were allocated had a pool that's about 2m below the room level and needed 7-8 big steps of stairs to reach. There were no railings around the porch area, posing another safety hazard. A big part of the dining area is directly exposed to the morning sun. A simple blind would have improved the overall dining experience.

Must stay! We stayed in a one bed room villa which was so worth it considering it has access to both monkey forest and ubud market and 2 roads! Down size is breakfast really basic and walk within the resort is long but path is good for Luggage or so. Will recommend and stay here again for the location and Price

Rooms lacking adequate basic amenities. Soap, shampoo, and tooth brush provided but aren't really doing the job. I'd reccomend packing some water, soap and shampoo (and conditioner) from the local minimart. Walk to breakfast or pool is a bit of a distance - with lots of stairs and inclines... Not very accessible and can get dangerously slippery when wet. Breakfast menu is very simple, i was tempted to get pop mie the following morning but they had better option the final day i stayed. Hairdryer was very weak and lacking, air conditioning is not cold enough. While the bed is nicely prepared and has veils which is a really nice touch and experience, the bed and pillow itself is extra firm. Swimming pool is good, but don't expect Olympic size. That being said, the resort itself actually looks like an ancient temple, it has a good traditional vibe and easy access to lots of restaurants nearby

We got room no 117 and 101. Room no 117 was horrible so after we spent the first night in this we moved to room no 101 which was slightly better. Room no 117 was very dirty and smelly. The room is right next to the Donna restaurant where all the food smell would come into the room and lot of noise could be heard. The new rooms which are apparently better are not very accessible to older crowd. I would not suggest this place to anyone.

Pertiwi Resort & Spa Ubud is a destination to reconnect with nature for a perfect retreat located in the heart of Ubud. Easy access to Monkey Forest and Ubud’s King Palace. Guests will be pampered with museums, shops, galleries, restaurants and idyllic rice fields for a relaxed and restorative holiday. So nice to stay here! :)

The service of the resort was really bad. We booked 2 Villas in the property which were really far from the reception area. The intercom didn't work for first 2 days. There was no connectivity with the staff. We kept dialling the reception contact 0, but nobody received the call. We were helpless without water service. A big resort with forest surroundings. It was scary to move out post sunset . The swimming pools were in bad shape. The lights not working. Upon enquiring with reception, they asked us to use the main swimming pool outside. Why on earth did I then pay for Villa? Hot Water was a challenge inside the room. Breakfast was average and the same on all days. Overall a horrible 3 days stay. I will not recommend anyone booking a Villa Stay at the property. The only good point was its location in Central Ubud in proximity of main market and Sacred Monkey Forest.

Pertiwi Resort & Spa in Ubud is a serene and peaceful retreat surrounded by nature. The resort offers a warm and friendly atmosphere, with staff who go above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. The rooms are spacious, tastefully decorated, and provide a perfect blend of traditional Balinese charm and modern comforts. The highlight of the resort is the rejuvenating spa, where guests can indulge in a range of treatments and therapies that leave them feeling relaxed and refreshed. The infinity pool offers breathtaking views of the lush rice fields, providing a tranquil oasis to unwind and soak in the beauty of the surroundings. During my stay I had a problem with my room in which I suffered an accident due to the bad facilities of the hotel (I was in the VILLA) My partner and I had to change to a room of a lower category, for which we agreed with the hotel manager (Darma Putra) that he would refund the money for the difference in the rooms… Two months later I am still waiting for the refund of said amount, I spoke with the manager in January and he told me that my refund was in process, now in February I have written to him again and he does not answer my messages. SO UNPROFESIONAL! PD: the villa was dirty as well as the pool that was dirty with bread from the other tenants and full of huge frogs

Frustratingly run down hotel. It feels like everything is in need of a fix or freshen up. The door to room didn’t lock, or at least we couldn’t find a way to lock it. The outside stair case had no lighting and felt very unsafe. Staff were friendly but otherwise useless. It’s a great location but not worth the money unless you really need to be central and have no other options.

The resort is on Monkey Forest street, couldn't be more central. The rooms are located in many different little houses behind the front Gare, which makes it quiet. The pool ambience is nice. We were lucky to be upgraded and enjoyed our room with view. Staff was very welcoming.

Pretty expensive for what you get. The air conditioning was broken and had to be fixed, which took half an hour. During the night it made a lot of noise and woke me up. The water in the sink did not drain. The pool is beautiful and the breakfast was fine. The whole complex looked beautiful as well. Location is very good in the center of Ubud. Close to the Monkey Forest and many restaurants and shops.

The location is very nice. But the service is not so great here. We stayed there for three days in the villa but there were so many problems. There were bugs in the rooms as well as the cockroaches and lizards. The wifi system didn’t work for two days. The place was quite dark as well. I mean the light was not enough in the room as well. Plus the rooms were not clean for a 3star hotel. I would give positive feedback to the restaurant they had some good food. Overall I didn’t expect bad service from the well unknown hotel.

Beautiful surroundings. Like living with nature. The rooms are big and spacious including the washroom. The service is really fast. Only down part is that they give only 500ml of water per room per day. Location is right in the middle of the main market. Right next to bike rent and currency exchange shops.

The chair on the balcony is broken! I called for water boiler which is not preset in the room, and the water boiler which is sent isn’t working! So I called again for a new one! There’s also no hair dryer in the room, so I called for it, and the staff is not FRIENDLY! Electrical power in the room isn’t stable, some light bulbs keep flashing and the exhaust fan in the restroom stops working sometimes! The shower curtain in the restroom was dropping down when I was taking a bath! One of the tile in the room isn’t flat which is so dangerous for guests! The breakfast is very bad also! Many bugs flew on the vegetable, and many ants in the salad sauce! The high price with the low facilities is unreasonable!

We stayed here for a week and had a pleasant experience. Beautiful rooms, great service and the grounds were immaculate. The rooms were cleaned, tidied up and restocked with complimentary water each day. I would recommend. However, the breakfast options were a bit limited and the staff didn't seem to understand ''toasted bread' as our scrambled eggs was always served on untoasted limp bread. This is a small negative though, and a possible language miscommunication.
