We stayed in a 6 bed dorm. Our 4 room mates were loud at night and early in the morning, so our experience wasn't the greatest (sleep wise) - however, that's not the hostel's fault. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Our ensuite bathroom was also clean and spacious. The hostel itself had a great atmosphere. Not the best location, but steps away from a day market which we ate at a couple of times during our stay. No AC, but not entirely necessary with the windows open at night. Good sized automated locker system. Great value for money - would return!

I stayed here for 3 nights in May 2022. Itā€™s one of the nicest hostels I ever stayed in. Itā€™s very clean, and modern. It is also social. However, I havenā€™t had a problem sleeping. The bar is downstairs, and I stayed on the fourth floor in a dorm. Didnā€™t hear much aside from my dorm mates coming in at night. The common areas are very nice, and there is plenty of space to read, work, or study and plug in. The staff is very kind, and the breakfast is superb for a hostel. Itā€™s just under ā‚¬6, and you get quite a bit, plus unlimited coffee or tea. There are vegan options as well. The hostel is very well-located in the city, as you are easily able to walk to many tourist attractions or take the U4, with two stations a short walk away. Definitely staying here again next time I am in Vienna!

Well below standards of a good hostel. The rooms were run-down, hot/muggy with a broken fan (no a/c) and bad lighting. No towels offered, and they charge you to leave luggage (5 euros for only 12 hours = insane), and the kitchen is unclean... The common areas are also very loud... And they still charge 40+ Euro for a dorm bed. Yikes. Maybe stay only if you're desperate?

Located quite close to the city center and just 40min by transport from the airport, this hostel was a good choice. Beds are confortable, they have lots of facilites for the guests and an amazing coffee corner. Also they have a huge luggage locker room to leave your bags while visiting the city. You will meet a lot of people solo traveling in there

The hostel in general is great, the staff and visitors are very friendly and the location is good as well. There's one problem though- there isn't any air conditioning, and during the typical European weather it doesn't really matter, but with the heat waves it's impossible to stay at the hostel during the day and you won't be able to "escape" from the weather outside. In my opinion, installing air conditioners would make it the perfect hostel to stay in

We've been coming here for years. It is an excellent facility. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. On-site coffee stand. The downside is that they no longer provide buffet breakfast that used to be the giggest reason to come here. Now you pay almost $7 for 3 pieces of bread, 3 very small paper-thin slices of ham, and tiny little jars of fruit, yogurt, cereal, etc... It is less expensive to go to the grocery next door and get something more substantial.

My friend fleed Ukraine with two small children and we needed a placement in Vienna urgently so they can rest before searching for a long-term place to live here. Wombat's hostel not just offered them a free stay for several days - they were extremely supportive and kind, my friends felt like at home there. The hostel has everything needed for comfortable stay - equipped kitchen, breakfast opportunity, nice bathing facilities, big supermarkets next door. Of course I am thankful for providing such help but overall I would recommend this hostel for travellers based on what I have seen and my friend's family experienced during their stay.

This was my second time staying at this Wombatā€™s (once in winter pre-pandemic, once in summer post-pandemic). Both times I stayed in a 6 bed female room. The rooms are large, and the beds are comfortable. The one downside is that the bunks donā€™t have privacy curtains. The whole building is huge and very, very clean (props to the cleaning staff!) Thereā€™s also a lot of lounge spaces and a bar, so itā€™s very easy to meet people. The breakfast used to be buffet style but no longer is, and I donā€™t think itā€™s worth it anymore. Luckily, the kitchen facilities are great so itā€™s easy to buy, store and prepare your own food. There is no AC in the building, so the rooms can get hot. Luckily, the windows open wide so itā€™s easy to get good air flow but be prepared to deal with street noise. As a side note, many many thanks to the front desk staff for holding my bag after an airline lost it and then sent it to Wombatā€™s after Iā€™d already moved onto a different country. The quick communication from the hostel was VERY much appreciated! I definitely recommend Wombatā€™s, itā€™s a great place!

Noisy party hostel with lots of rude, egocentric, indecent, lax & narrow-minded people, especially young ones who have no upbringing nor selfrespect nor norms and values of life. Most of them behaved badly, inconsiderate and ignored to follow the rules, especially in the rooms, the common kitchen and other public spaces. They think that they can do anything they want. Some of them stole our apples, eggs, bottled water several times, pathetic or just vandalism ! Wild guess ! It seems like most of them are the real lost generation. Too bad for many hostels in general. It damages the good, serene and safe atmosphere of hostels for all other guests.

Good location. Quite central and very close to the UBahn stop ā€œKettenbrĆ¼ckengasseā€. The rooms are just ok. The furniture seems worn out. If you have back problems, you wonā€™t be comfortable with the mattress. You have to spread out the sheets yourself upon arrival and also remove them and take them downstairs with you when checking out. The bed, pillow, comforter and sheets did not feel clean. There was no towel provided though I think it could be ā€œrentedā€ from the reception. Check in is only after 14:00 and you have to check out before 10:00. If the beds are not being changed, than why do we have to wait that long to get in the room? Since we arrived early, we used the lockers downstairs to leave our luggage. The lockers are not free, which is a pitty. They cost between 3-6 euros depending on how long you use them. Common areas have a cozy vibe. Did not try the breakfast. Although cheap, there surely must be better options in Vienna within the same price range.

Best hostel in Vienna. Rooms are good, provided lockers, everything is clean and located in prime area which is close to most of cityā€™s attractions. Day when we arrived they were conducting shelter for music night which was so so good (which we donā€™t know before), one of the best moments of my europe trip. Met one of the founder during the event, he was so humble, passionate and knowledgeable. Wish them all the best šŸ‘

Nice lactation a bit far from the center but right next to the market, as well as grocery. The rooms are spacious and pretty clean. The common areas are also nice. Breakfast is 5.9 and they gave vegan and regular options.

Completely overrated. The room itself and the beds are all old and it shows. The halls of the dorms smell of strong chemicals. I donā€™t want to ever stay here again. Only thing exceeded expectations were its high prices. Plus, you have to make your own bed and when you checkout you have to bring your bed sheets down to the reception area. Though, I have to mention that staff are really nice. Other than that itā€™s a complete no-go for me.

Best hostel I've ever been to! Dorm rooms are clean and with private bathroom + shower The people are very nice The hostel bar is awesome at night! 10/10 2 small things that could be improved: 1. The wifi is pretty slow 2. The toilet paper in the rooms is not great, you better use your own.

No air conditioning in the rooms is very unpleasant in the middle of the summer. It was literally the only hostel without AC in all of my euro trip, and was not even the cheapest one. Not many group activities either. You have to pay 5 euro to keep your luggage after check-out. Only good thing is location. Wouldn't stay in there again tbh.

Had a great time here! Went on my first solo trip and chose Wombat's for my stay. Rooms where light and were cleaned every day. Hangout/lobby was great fun too! Also the location is great, just a minute walk from the nearest U-Bahn. :)

I stayed here for three nights. In general my stay was nice. People at the reception are very friendly and helpful. The room was pretty clean and comfortable. The hostel is located is located not too close to the center. My only problem was with the toilet, it was extremely dirty and smells really bad. It would be nice if they can frequently clean it. Besides that I highly recommend this hostel.

Wombat was a great hostel experience. Nice staff, cool lobby, comfy beds. I wish the sink drain worked a little better, but it was a very clean room. Great location really close to the market, an affordable grocery store, and the transit! I would totally stay here again.

I've had a lovely stay in Wombats for 3 days. I can't express enough how good this hostel is for the price you pay. The room was extremely clean, and everything was super new. Such a cozy ambient, spacious, and the decorations are superb. The staff was helpful and friendly from start to finish, and the location is perfect, close to the city center where you have access to the main sightsees. I would highly recommend it.

We spent 3 nights in a women only dorms at Wombatā€™s including New Yearā€™s Eve and it was absolutely perfect! Everything was clean. The bar is perfect to meet people, everyone was super nice and we discovered the city together. The location is really central.

My only complaint is the bins in the kitchen. They are not used correctly by guests and the reason is because it is not clear what goes where. I feel it is important to mark clearly the recycling bin and the waste bin. Otherwise i highly recommend wombats vienna. Best thing is location. And proximity to the sub way. Also good breakfast for 6euro and fab atmosphere.

This was my first experience at a hostel, and it did not disappoint. Very friendly and helpful staff, great vibes, clean bright rooms. My 3 friends and I shared a private room with 4 bunks, which was wonderful. Also a great cafe!

Very social and high level hostel. Staff were very nice. Rooms are well organized. The lobby has cool vibes, the bar works till 2 am. Everyone was so friendly. Itā€™s located on a perfect spot: 20 min walk from the old town, and 1 min walk from the subway train. Highly recommended

Great hostel to make friends. The terrace up front of the hostel is a great way to relax after a long day and to chat with people from around the world. At night, you can check out the bar inside the hostel and are guaranteed to meet cool people. The hostel was clean and safe. The reception was very helpful to help you plan your itinerary and transportation. On Saturdays, I would definitely recommend checking out the market in front of the hostel! Furthermore, having a metro station not even 2 minutes away from the hostel is not something to be slept on. The only downside to this hostel was that there were no curtains on the beds. It's a small thing that can easily be changed and it would greatly enhance your sense of privacy, especially in rooms of 4 and more.

Good and clean dorms, lovely staff and good service. Nice amount of facilities. Breakfast is just a bit too little for me but there's a supermarket next door. The six bed dorm i was in was quite spacious, and has its own bathroom with sink, toilet, and excellent shower. No handdrying anything though so bring the towel that the hostel supplies for your body to dry your hands when you wash them. There's a guests shower and luggage storage if you're too early for their relatively late check-in time of 14:00 (check out is at 10:00 but you can pay to check out before 13:00 instead..)

Really great hostel in a great place. The coffee was great and the breakfast was decent. (Warm bread and croissants was a bonus but no eggs). Not much information given on check-in and cash only which is annoying.

  • 5/5 Yana T. 5 months ago on Google
Good location (5-6 minutes walk from subway stop), clean rooms, friendly personnel. We appreciated a lot the fact, that there are lockers of different sizes available, so after checkout you can leave your suitcase and go for a walk :) Also there is a coffee spot inside the hostel - we didnā€™t try the coffee, but it smelled amazingly :)

I stayed here for one night for a stopover in Vienna in my interrail trip, and I had a great stay. The room was big and modern, bed was comfy enough, bathroom was OK. Location is great and the night is cheap. As a solo traveler just looking for a place to sleep, this was one of the best hostels I stayed in during my trip.

  • 5/5 Jessica B. 11 months ago on Google
Decent stay in Vienna! They moved me into a 4 bedroom girls room which I was thankful for. Room was very spacious and enjoyable. They had live music one of the nights I was there which was unique. + the coffee shop was convenient

  • 4/5 Lorenza R. 11 months ago on Google
Very simple and clean accommodations. We were here over the weekend and it was very quiet (surprisingly so for such a large hostel). Super convenient location to metro and many food options. The breakfast was not good - would recommend going elsewhere! Otherwise would recommend this hostel for a few nights. Note that if youā€™re working remote, there is no coworking space and the common area is quite crowded and too busy/loud for video calls.

  • 5/5 Giorgia E. 1 year ago on Google
Super cool place to stay, nice area, super close to the market and in a very good position. Friendly staff and clean spaces, spacious rooms (well mine was a 6 beds dorm with ensuite bathroom). Maybe not much air ventilation but a very recommended hostel!

  • 5/5 ā€¢ Chloe ļæ½. 5 months ago on Google
The rooms are clean and modern, mine had an ensuite toilet and shower. They were cleaned daily from what I could tell, and I had no issues with hygiene here. The lockers are large and very secure and you don't need to bring a lock, they open with your individual key card. The common area is cosy, and the kitchen is well equipped. I didn't spend much time at the hostel bar but it seemed to have a good vibe, with foosball and beer pong tables. There are also multiple washers and driers, you can do your laundry for about ā‚¬6 and pay by card. The location was great, just across from the naschmarkt, a daily food market with a flea market on Saturdays. There are also several supermarkets and a U-bahn station within 5 minutes walk. You can easily walk to a large shopping street with plenty of restaurants. Overall the best hostel experience you could ask for, I would definitely stay here again.

Good location, itā€™s only 15min walk to the sight seeing places and less than 10 min walk to train station. Their guest kitchen is equipped and would recommend this place if u plan to cook on your trip. The only downside is that it has only one shower room for 10 people. Had to wait especially in the morning and evening.

  • 5/5 Brian A. 7 months ago on Google
This hostel truly is a 10/10. The location is just great with so many food options just across the street, the rooms are clean and modern with ensuite bathrooms. But the best part is everything around that. They have a spacious kitchen and a grocery store just downstairs. There's a cafe and a bar that sells drinks at half the price of anywhere else in town. A great place to socialize and get ready for a night out. We met so many great people, our stay here was truly the best on our trip.

  • 5/5 gabriella p. 9 months ago on Google
This was a very great hostel that we stayed at. The rooms were constantly kept clean, it seemed very social at the bar. If you go in the summer time, there is a little walking market right across the street. It is very close to a metro station. Just keep in mind that the place does not have air conditioning, and it can get very hot during the day. We knew this before hand but if you are looking to book somewhere cool in the summer, this might not be your place.

  • 5/5 Andrea C. 6 months ago on Google
I really liked the hostel, everything clean, organized, the staff was nice. It is located close to the metro, I walked there without problems with my hand luggage. I went to the airport from there using public transport, I took the metro, then the train and all for about 7 euro :).

This is by far the best hostel in Vienna! Staff are super kind, the place is super clean and the atmosphere is amazing! It's really easy to make new friends here.

Stayed in private room and it was better than a budget hotel! Ours was spacious and clean and we very much enjoyed our time there. Staff were wonderful and cafe/chill area super nice. Only improvements could be having better wifi and air con in the rooms! We had our windows open all night and itā€™s September so I can imagine how hot it would be July/August.

  • 4/5 Henry B. 6 months ago on Google
Hostel was great for our needs. Located just by a metro station so easy to get around. Huge market just outside the hostel. The rooms are pretty basic but they had lockers, were clean and comfortable enough. The bar was really good too, atmosphere was great and beer a good piece. My one complaint was we joined one of the free walking tours. I go on a walking tour in every city I go to. This one was by far the worst, Iā€™d like to say the woman who ran it was knowledgable and polite if not a little boring but honestly from our experience she was actually rude. My friend asked a question to which he was told ā€œno questions until the end. If you are bored you should leave.ā€ Did she then come back to him at the end to answer the question? No she didnā€™t. Itā€™s a shame as I usually love the walking tours how ever this was a low light of our trip.

I was told by a worker (who was walking around without a mask) to put on a mask. Makes sense. And receptionists always seem bothered if you need them for anything. Otherwise spacious and clean.

  • 5/5 Cloud W. 2 years ago on Google
Clean, well located, and helpful staff- perfect for my stay in Vienna. The U4 line is a 5 minute walk from the hostel. The 4 bed female dorm had lockers (linked to your key card which was nice), in-suite bathroom, and two windows (great to have as it was quite warm during the day). The garbage bins were emptied each day and toilet paper was replenished at regular intervals. Washers and dryers were in the basement and worked well. Overall, a perfect base to explore the city.

+ Nice location, nice staff, nice crowd, very affordable and very relaxed atmo. - we had to sleep with open windows, because otherwise it would have been way too hot in the mixed dorm. (8p)

Very clean! So clean that you will have a feeling to be in a hotel! The room (6 beds female) was very big and with facilities. They also have craft beer at the bar downstairs. Location is top! Not too central but with a beautiful lively market just outside the door. Safe and well connected to all the landmarks

Place is clean, I love that there is a private bathroom for each room. Each guest has their place to lock their things. It is very close to transportation. I didn't like the kitchen a lot people don't clean after themselves.

This is an amazing hostel with a great location within the city! All the staff I came across was very nice and friendly, the common areas are very cosy. Fully equipped kitchen with a fridge where you can prepare your own meals if you don't order breakfast. Rooms are clean, with the bathroom en-suite and you get a locker where you can keep your belongings, but in general it's a very safe environment (I left my bag and a charging phone in the lobby for like an hour). There's a grocery store literally next doors. It's a real party hostel with a bar, but rooms are quiet. I will definitely come back and I highly recommend!

Stayed here for one night. The room was lovely and very clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and the view was great. There was no loud noise during our stay; it was very quiet and peaceful in the room and so we slept very well. Breakfast was fantastic. Staff were very polite and welcoming. Will hopefully return again some day.

Great place, room and bathrooms are cleans. Locker's system is simple with the card that they provide you, so you won't need to bring a lock. There's a bar open until 2am so it's a great place to chill or meet people. Very good location. 20 minutes by foot from the train station. 10 minutes by foot from the center. 5 minutes by foot from the nearest subway station. Naschmarkt is just in front, so a lot of restaurants and bar.

One of the best hostels I have visited. I loved the lobby/reception area. Thee staff is friendly. Thank you =) The 4 bed room is clean with a bathroom and WC. The lockers are big enough. You don't need a lock for that as it's locked/unlocked by the room card. The 5.90 ā‚¬ breakfast is great.

I stayed in this hostel. The hostel itself is good, affordable for the stay. Good location. There seemed to be a lot of fun in the pub that was on the lower floor, but I only used the hostel to sleep. I give a 3/5 because, despite they had the legal requirement to check that I was vaccinated for the stay (I am vaccinated) and non-vaccinated travel is currently not allowed in Austria (mid November 2021), it was not controlled at the check-in. Which makes you think, whether other people staying in the hostel may not be complying with the rule. And this is not a hotel, this is an acommodation where random people are sharing a room.

Stayed in the 4 bedroom door with ensuite. Clean, modern and spacious room with an enjoyable shower. The common areas were great and it was quiet in the room at night. Free luggage storage before and after check in/check out was great! Sockets, lights and a shelf next to each bed was great too. Favourite hostel Iā€™ve experienced so far.

This hostile was my first hostile during my 5 week travels. It was very clean, great location, great common area. In the morning you can cross the streets and hit the market for breakfast, the staff was super helpful and the key card system for lockers and rooms is super cool. The room with the pool table and bar was great for late nights and the staff was super accommodateing. Pretty sure we cleared the beer fridge twice in the same night playing drinking games and hanging out. There is also a coffee shop directly in the hostile so you can get a really great price for a flat white in the mornings.

Stayed here for two nights and Iā€™d recommend it to all types of travelers! The rooms are spacious and clean. The common areas, lobby, bar, and guest kitchen are clean and everyone is nice. They lost one star for the lack of WiFi in my room and price of breakfast. Overall it was good and Iā€™d come back

Great hostel, would highly recommend and look for other Wombat's in other cities. Clean, well maintained, well organised and well priced. Two downsides are: having to make your own bed with non-fitted sheets (though this is countered by being able to choose your bed in the dorm) and the lack of oven in the communal kitchen

ģ¢‹ģŠµė‹ˆė‹¤. ģ‹œė‚“ė„ ź°€ź¹ź³ . Clean. Free towel. Good wifi. But reception allows late check in. I was sleeping at 9pm but two guys checked in and came to room around 12am. So I woke up for twice. I think there were enough rooms for late check in guests. Except for this, it was fine.

A really nice hostel. Good rooms, clean and convenient. Professional staff. Calm neighbourhood and metro station just outside - downtown is a mere three stations away. Walking there takes about 25-30 minutes. Restaurants, cafe's and grocery stores on the same street as the hostel. Naschmarkt is just outside as well. Breakfast, however, is a bit poor.

The hostel's location is perfect, right at the market, where you can have lunch, dinner. The hostel was super cozy, the bar was a bit small, but it worked so well, great drinks. I made some truly amazing friends here! The city center is close.

We had a great stay at wombats! Beautiful interior design and very nice staff. Amazing when youā€™re in your late teens/ early 20s because thereā€™s a chance you make friends from all over the world. We also thought its location is rather convenient. The best hostel Iā€™ve been to!

This hostel is very good value for money, with the markets just outside and an aldi next door it is in a very good location. The rooms are big and very clean. The bar is good, the drinks are reasonably priced. The atmosphere is a bit rubbish at night time but other than that a brilliant stay.

  • 4/5 sophie w. 1 year ago on Google
The hostel is amazing. Great vibes, location, and staff. The bar is a really nice, reasonable prices, and in addition it makes it easy to get to know other people there. The cafe is a bit pricey but very nice and accessible. Also has a great and clean kitchen plus a common room. Offers breakfast and has grocrey stores and pharmacies within 2 minutes of the hostel. The location is not the most central, but still within a 30 m walk from most places. Also a 3 m walk from the metro. The rooms are very spacious and clean, but there is no ac and is extremely hot. I would say my only complaints was the heat and the dryer. The dryers do not really work and do not dry your clothes. Would definitely recommend the hostel though!

Wombat City Hostel is the most consistent high quality hostel experience you can find in Europe. The rooms are always clean and have bathrooms that are a nice size. The beds are comfy enough and have a very convenient nightstand/reading light/outlet trio to hold and charge what you need. The lobby is spacious and has room to eat, relax, or even nap if you need. There is a luggage room that gets locked. There is a nice bar and a nice dining room. And there is a bathroom in the lobby. You really cannot go wrong at Wombat's as the rooms and lobby are really nice, service is great, and the location is as good as it gets. I've been to two Wombat's and I will be going to my third soon. They made a fan out of me!

The Wombat was an awesome experience! My friends and I had a 3 bedroom palace, and it came with its own sauna. We all probably lost 10 pounds of water weight throughout our stay. The lady working reception was able to pinpoint all of the fun things to do in Vienna. Very precise, and straight to the point. The other lady working the coffee machine was also delightful. The hostel is close proximity to everything, and after a long day of walking around it was great to come back to our sauna. Make sure you bring plenty of water and electrolytes during your stay at the Wombat Sauna/Hostel šŸ¤  there may or may not be air conditioning.

Upgraded from what you'd imagine a hostel to be. We got a private bedroom with a bathroom. The room was big and the bathroom was clean! The staff was very friendly and always had great ideas of what to do in Vienna. They had a walking tour available everyday. The hostel also offers breakfast for 7 euro and it was a simple breakfast. Would stay here again!
