This is at the top of a hill in a safe and quiet location with beautiful views of the city. It is not so much a castle but a huge house with a couple of floors and lots of stairs! Patricio is very helpful and informative and good to talk to about the city and travel. He was very accommodating. However, he is often busy or on the phone so you have to wait sometimes if you have a query or issue. At 12 I had to check out so was trying to show him I was putting the key on the desk to prove I was checking out and he was irritated but perhaps I should have just left it in the room. Maybe a volunteer could be hired to help with check-out time. If you buy breakfast be aware it is not buffet style or 'help yourself' - you have to designate a time and be there for it to be given to you (I was not told then when I checked in and did not realise). You can do laundry at the property for $5, and you can buy beers there or bring your own and drink it on the terrace. My room was clean and comfortable although I would recommend some small improvements and renovations for example some of the broken door handles or bolt locks being fixed/replaced. Some of the doors to the outside lock behind you so you have to remember to take a key out (which I also did not realise and subsequently locked myself out, as did a member of the cleaning staff there!). It definitely keeps you on your toes. I definitely recommend staying here if in Vina del Mar - which is much nicer than Valparaiso. There is also a short walk to a nice beach, restaurants (Donde Willys!) and some craft beer bars (e.g La Schoperia).

We booked the cheapest room and turns out it had no windows. But that was the only inconvenient we had during our stay (and we also were offered to exchange rooms and pay the difference). The breakfast was amazing, with lots of food. The facilities were always clean and neat. The kitchen is small but it was enough for us to cook our meals and the balcony with tables to eat was beautiful. The location is uphill so a car or a taxi is a good choice to arrive and leave.
