Amazing time and great turnout at the "Latin Booster" party last night at Yates; people from all over the world enyoing the warmth and rhythm of a real Latin party. Great venue and special thanks to Lewis from the Yates staff for the hospitality and support!

Very busy Saturday night . Que for the bar was unreal no lined ques everyone was pushing in. Definitely in need of more staff they all looked rushed off there feet . After waiting well over 30 minutes for a drink it was needed . Very big pub with outside seating area and nice decor in great location

Had a great night last Tuesday with some friends. Sammy, Amelia, and Harry were being trained and did very well! It's a chain so don't expect anything that unique; however catch it when it's quiet and you can get good service, nice, reasonably priced drinks, and a great food selection. Plus... Hosting drag nights does make this the place to go for many gay people in the city.

Great bar! Really enjoyed our Sunday night here! Food was really good value for money with the daily deals! And you can’t go wrong with the 2-4-1 cocktails, so many to choose from! All the staff were lovely as well!

This was a lovely bar for drinking, with the design of the walls harboring York's history! Flags help decorate and the counter is well-presented, with lovely staff too. I felt lucky they had the rarity of Mango cider and this was superb, which I had at comfy old-school seating!

Popped in for a quick bite whilst staying in York for the night. Busy pub but not uncomfortable. Lovely view over the river. We both chose the bacon & cheese burger with chips, very tasty & well cooked burger. Good value for money.

Wednesday and I felt older than the hills! 😁 Didn't realise it was student night. Good pint of Guinness and place was clean and tidy with a good outside beer garden. Hopefully next time there will be a more mixed crowd.

Very busy but very reasonable priced. Good quality food and not bad service to say how busy it was

Good location looking out towards the river and drinks are reasonably priced. A large courtyard out the back with outdoor screens showing football. Plenty of space and seats but a could be a little cleaner in places.

Nice food and very clean pub. Great in summer to keep cool in. The only downside is some of the staff a bit rude.

Affordable and delicious, the food exceeded expectations. The breakfast was particularly good, and the staff exhibited politeness and provided a warm welcome. The cleanliness and tidiness of the bar area added to the overall positive experience

We visited on a Monday lunchtime so the place wasn't too crowded. Service was good and the food was also good (although they had no subs which was disappointing). Had a pleasant chilled out time there. No parking (as it's the centre of York) but easy access toilets and plenty of seating.

Where to start. The Pub was quiet and so ordered a festive burger with chips, a diet coke and a side portion of chips with a latte coffee for my partner. I got the diet coke at the bar after ordering and was told they would fetch the coffee over. After 15 minutes I asked where the coffee was, only to be told they had a load of other orders to do first. 10 minutes later the coffee arrived with no apology for the 25-minute delay. After another 10 minutes the burger and chips plus the side of chips arrived. Again no apology for the delay. The Burger was okay, but the chips were stone cold and had been cooked at least 20 minutes, they were terrible. I wish could say it had been busy which may have helped to justify some of the delay, but nothing could explain it, other than poor service and a lack of interest by the staff. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I should add I rarely leave poor reviews, but this isn't how you run a customer focused business. Staff training / supervision is clearly required. The music was loud and not to our taste. The service was good apart from the bar staff telling us they didn't serve coffee after meal only to be told by the waiter they do, so we had to go to the bar a second time to order coffee. The meal itself was average but scampi was crispy and a bit overdone, steak was OK.

Arrived in York around 16.30 tonight. Went straight out to make the most of our visit. Around 2000 hrs thought we'd go to your establishment, as we have many times previously for a drink and a bite to eat. Me and my 18 year old son were ahead of my wife, my daughter and her boyfriend so we thought we'd grab a table. At the door we were met by 2 door staff. The younger one asked my son for ID, which he provided. He then informed us that they didn't allow anyone with joggers in. Why ask for ID then. Since when as Yates has a dress code? It's hardly a 5 star restaurant. We weren't drunk or being rowdy I'm 53. So in future when we visit York we won't be visiting your establishment. If it was midday would we have been turned away?

Great place for refreshments on a sunny day as the courtyard is a real suntrap. Everything else is as you would expect from a chain: drinks are reasonably priced, but not the cheapest, food is one step up from fast food and the staff don't appear to be keen to do a good job. The location is probably its best asset with the courtyard at one end and the river at the other.

It was very overpriced & rude staff. when I got home, they charged me twice Β£6.99 and Β£6.00 for 1 single shot. On top of that, the bouncers were rude to our group when we walked in before we had even walked over to the bar. When we sat down with drinks, another boncer came over to force my friend to remove her fancy dress hat. He was also very rude. It was early in the night but killed our vibe. we finished our drinks quickly and left and enjoyed the rest of our night elsewhere. I would definitely not recommend it.

Lovely lunch in here on a quick shopping trip. Great atmosphere due to lots of race-goers and venue was busy but spotlessly clean. Good value for city centre, we loved the burger & drink for Β£10.49.....highly recommended πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

2 for 1 pitchers are well worth it and so good. We got the berry blush and the woo woo. 4 pitchers were more than enough to share.

Called in for a breakfast today, excellent value for money and very pleased they allowed dogs in the conservatory. Very friendly staff, even brought the dog some water without needing to be asked. Tasty breakfast cooked by Kev.

Came here last night, and we had brilliant bar service from the bartender Farhan, who was lovely and cheery all night! He recommended Places for us to go in york as well as serving everyone else in a cheery manner! Lovely place with great staff! :)

Great atmosphere, come here multiple times a week, can’t get enough! Insanely good prices. Staff always top notch, in particular Bran, without a doubt the most helpful, sexiest bartender in York🀩

Me and the girlfriend was in need of a no nonsense traditional English breakfast and hidden away down an alley was a yates. A true hidden gem, big open space with plenty of seating, service was swift and the food and drinks was lovely. Thanks to Tyla and the team we’ll definitely come back

By far the worst breakfast I have ever had. Mushrooms, beans and bacon were really undercooked. A decent vet would have saved the bacon. The toast looked like it had been steamed. I felt sorry for the staff as they looked totally alone. I was too rushed to get the train to take things further but I cant see anything would have been resolved. I'll give the star for the hash browns. They were banging.

Great range of pub food to choose from. The breakfast menu is good, and I thoroughly enjoyed the cheese, bacon + sausage in a bun with 2 hash browns on the side, it was yummy! Recommended!

We had a couple of evening meals, and drinks here. All fine. I feel this pub is, great for young people. Loud music playing and there was a quiz one evening. Very loud and it seemed to take over, whether you were taking part or not. Would suggest a quieter area for people not wanting to hear the quiz as it is overpowering.
