Okay so, after reading some old review claiming this to be an old lesbian bar and others calling it a gay bar, my girlfriend and I went out of our way to check it out. It's... not really a queer bar? It may be queer as in strange, in terms of the decor, but the clientelle was not. We had a drink then left rather disappointed.

One of the first LGBTQ bar establishments in the world. I was happy to have come here and seen the place for myself. The interior is cute and the place is nice to sit down at and have a cold beer

The place to BE on a Sunday afternoon! Especially if you want to experience the lovely and friendly atmosphere of Amsterdam as it became known for it. That kind of bars are almost gone in Amsterdam 😥 but luckely there are a few over. This is a very cosy and friendly place with historical facts. It is the oldest lesbian bar in Europe, started in 1927. And no worries if you are straight. Many straight people come in for a glass of something and friendly people. No worries if you come in alone. Im sure after a few min you'll be able to mingle and chat with several people. The staff is always friendly, so are the bar guests and always open to met new people.

Strange. First time visit ever to this cafe. There was a poetry night going on. Never heard so much hate and discrimination towards other non-LHBTQ+ people and non-muslims. I was flabbergasted. When I tried to say about what happened, they requested me to leave the cafe. So, if you do not belong to the LHBTQ+ community or if you are not a muslim, please skip this place.

Such a gorgeous and inviting bar, with cozy lighting, rich and interesting decor, as well as Fleetwood Mac pouring out the speakers. Every part of this place is perfect. Really looking forward to coming back.

Nice restaurant which opens until 12 at night. Went here for late night dinner and experience was good.

Great place to hang out and warm up for the evening. Girl behind the bar is easy going and pleasant to talk to...unless you piss her of. :) (seen it with my own eyes) so don't try to be macho man and treat her with respect. :)

Gay bar with a rich history. If I'm not wrong, this was one of the first gay bars in Amsterdam. It's a cosy little place with lots of nooks to have conversations in and to soak in its history. The energy is always buzzing in this place. P.S., For the people who complain about service being bad - Be nice to the bartender and he will be nice to you. It's not bad service but this is typical Dutch service - you get what you order relatively quickly and no nonsense small talk about the weather. Also, the weather is not small talk in Holland. ;)

Really really like this bar.Tiny but friendly, cosy and gezellig, with nice draft beer. The bar itself has an amazing history which the current owner (niece of the original owner, Bet) will gladly tell you all about. Be sure to strike a conversation with other people at the bar and you'll fell that the space becomes even smaller and friendlier. The café/bar is proudly gay friendly and you can really feel an open and welcoming atmosphere. Super!

This is a gorgeous little community felt gay bar with fab friendly staff, with cosy and quirky vibe with great music. I would recommend and will return.

Really fun atmosphere here. Great place to hangout and have a drink. The prices are good and the bartender is nice. It is just a bit small, when it gets busy it can be hard to find a table.

We went back tonight because it was a lot of fun a few nights ago. Unfortunately the bartender working there tonight decided to ignore us. We ended up leaving without even getting a drink. I hope the owner reads this post.
