A place to try a few different dishes but with an impersonal feeling from the kitchen. The service was great! Very attentive waiters and waitresses

Overall it’s good for an interesting oriental food experience with nice environment and service. I ordered Waugh Siu Mai, shrimp dumpling and fried rice with shrimp paste. The Siu Mai and dumpling were traditional in the format but the inside was a bit modified, they tasted good but the Mayonnaise was absolutely not necessary in the dish, they hid the flavor of the dish itself, so I’ll ask to not add it next time. The service was absolutely nice, I had a warm talk with the crew, hope I’ll see u next time.

Been living in Asia for kind sometime, but this was an amazing Asian fusion food journey. We visited this place for my wife’s bday with a group of 10 +, and all communication from the start went very well and in a very professional way. We had an awesome experience! The staff was very good, they had a very good knowledge about each dish that has been served. The live music is a good addition to the overall atmosphere. The duck was amazing, so tender and soft melting in your mouth. Will definitely come back. Musty try when you’re in Amsterdam. Keep up the good work!

We came here for vacation and reserved a table weeks in advance. We heard great things about the restaurant so we were really looking forward to dining here. It was our first meal in Amsterdam and it was the worst compare with other restaurants. I need to say the food was very good, however the customer service that we had was probably the worst that I’ve ever experienced in the world. I think good food needs to be matched with good service for it to be a great restaurant. If you just want to come for the food and don’t care about the experience, then try it out.

Overall good but for the price, 150euro, missing the wow factor. Was not just us but many tables the same , service of the food was slow which meant we did not have time for dessert . We had two bites , and 4 dishes. Nothing really bad with the food but we were expecting something special , for the price, what saved the food was the sauces, but it was missing the wow factor . Service, atmosphere and decor were good.

We had an amazing dinner at Ron Gastrobar Oriental. Great service! Our waiter had a good sense of humor, we had a good laugh! We love the shared dining concept, we tried 9 different opties and they were all delicious.

We were very excited to try out all the dishes, but were very disappointed by the taste. We were recommended to order 2 to 3 dishes per person, which seemed odd to us, but it made sense since the portions were very small. We thought there would be more fish since it was 20 euros, but it was just a small glass with a few pieces. The taste of the kingfish was ok though. The enoki beef sukiyaki was sweet and the meat surrounding the enoki was not very nice quality. The wagyu siu mai was ok! Never seen it before. Oysters were nice too. The sticky lotus rice was not sticky enough and kinda fell apart. Taste was ok, but nothing too special. The taco yellowtail was interesting and pretty nice! Overall, there was nothing worthy of coming back for, except for how pretty the food was and how nice the staff was. The price/quality ratio was not worth it at all; I would definitely not be coming back for the food..

I love Amsterdam because we can randomly find such high quality food, we were walking by here and decided to check it out because it looked interesting. We didn’t realize it would lead to a rooftop restaurant with an amazing interior and panoramic views of the city. The service was impeccable, definitely the best satay I’ve ever had in my life. The peanut sauce was to die for. Overall perfect experience will definitely be back again!

If there’s ever a spot trying a little too hard to be ‘oriental’, Ron’s is it. The interior is dark with loud music and small cosy tables. You’ll see ducks hanging from their necks in a cold fridge downstairs, presumably the same ones that will grace your plates later with lackluster skin. Food. There were six of us and we ended up trying the blue and red menus. Shrimp toast… I assume the fusion here was the addition of avocado inside with the shrimp. Flavor was OK, but it was a little oil logged. Dim sum was interesting. The wagyu siu mai with truffle had a decent flavor. Har gao was black and not white as it is traditionally. Both that and the gyozas were good. The fried fish was the best dish. Sadly, the duck did not live up to the hype and not what Peking duck should be. The skin wasn’t crispy and the meat wasn’t tender/fall apart. It’s accompanied by a sad amount of thin dough wraps for you to create your pancake with. Note: There were six of us and six wraps. So, you’ll have to ask for more immediately. And it takes a while. Service was decent, but did slow down as the restaurant got busier. Music was loud and it got harder to hear as the evening wore on. Ironically, they tell you that you’ve only got 2 hours at your table, and yet they were slow to take orders, bring out food, etc. Loads of amazing restaurants in Amsterdam that this was disappointing for our last night in town. Particularly at the price point.

The place looks nice, the service is great. However, as a vegetarian I was extremely disappointed. If a restaurant positions itself as 'high end' in the market, this high end service should not be reserved for specific dietary preferences only. This was the case, as far as my experience is concerned. This restaurant has no problem in charging me the same amount, (85 euros for the meal with wine) and giving me less variety, and less volume than my non-vegetarian company, without so much as an acknowledgement of their oversight or unfairness. The first course, dimsums, were 3 different types for my friends but only one type in the vegetarian option. Surely my 3 identical dimsums could NOT have taken the same amount of ingredient diversity and effort to create. But I paid the same amount. The second course involved duck followed by glass noodles (as a surprise second part of the second course) and of course the vegetarians are not afforded such surprises. I am very disappointed that in today's day and age where restaurants should be doing everything to ensure that their patrons have a great experience, Ron's gastrobar overlooked such critical points, in a city like Amsterdam where I am sure vegetarians are not an insignificant minority. Such carelessness in customer experience does not take time to translate to the food. I definitely saw it in my vegetarian meal, which was good but nothing better than dishes at HappyHappyJoyJoy at one third the price. I will not be visiting again and I will be advising my friends and family not to either.

It is a fine dinning restaurant where everything is well served but I would never understand why the dumplings have to be served by 3 pieces (they were good by the way), that is a problem when you split between 2 people. I know that the duck is the signature dish, but for me that I'm not a huge fan of poultry in general...the spare ribs were amazing.

(Translated by Google) I grew up in the Chinese hospitality industry and am very familiar with traditional Chinese cuisine (not only in the Netherlands but also in Hong Kong and China). Let me get to the point right away: If you really want to eat delicious traditional Chinese, I recommend you go to the Zeedijk, Oriental City or Full Moon Garden where you can eat a lot better for a lot less money. A few examples: the cheung fang (noodle roll) had no taste, dough was really too soggy and did not have the smooth structure. The price for 1 noodle roll was 12.50 euros, while at a real Chinese restaurant you get 3 pieces for less than half the price. The pork belly dish I found unsuccessful. It consisted of more fat than meat, which in my view only works if it is served crispy instead of a piece of fat covered with sauce. The crab had no meat and was too salty. We had ordered a total of around 10 dishes and I actually missed the refined Oriental flavor, the essential 'wok taste' in all dishes. Many dishes were also prepared with too much oil. The spare ribs and dessert were in itself ok but did not like it so much that I would like to come back for this. I also found it a shame to see martial arts in a Chinese package on the TV screen on the toilet. The Chinese authenticity should have been reflected in the taste of the dishes, not through a cliche kung fu film. Furthermore, the service was slightly pretentious. In short: too overrated, overpriced and neither cracked nor tasted. Wij hadden in totaal ong.

We visited Ron Gastrobar Oriental for a family dinner yesterday. Everything was perfect from the very beginning. Our waiter (I think he was a manager though) was super attentive and kind. As a large group, we’ve tried almost everything from the menu and it was delicious! I would highly recommend trying duck loempia and seabass as a main dish. The desserts were unusual and tasty. All of us liked the cocktails, we’ve tried classic Moscow mule as well as something with Thai Basilicum in a plastic bag - it was really cool! Overall - a great place to go for whatever occasion there is, from a date to family dinner.

Absolutely loved this place, the service and everything we ordered. We got the wagyu shu mai, beef buns, chicken satay, jellyfish, kohlrabi dumplings and the mushrooms. Our favorite dish hands down was the mushrooms. Also I ordered the yuzu sour and it was so yummy.

My husband and I recently embarked on a delightful culinary adventure at Ron Gastrobar Oriental Downtown in Amsterdam, and it turned out to be a memorable experience that exceeded our expectations. After days of indulging in Dutch and other European cuisines, we sought something more exotic and were drawn to this restaurant based on its Michelin guide recommendation. From the moment we stepped inside, we knew we were in for a treat. The dim sum tasting menu was an excellent choice to kickstart our meal. Offering a selection of 6 chicken, shrimp, pork, and beef dim sums, each bite was a burst of flavors that left us wanting more. It was a delightful dilemma trying to decide which dim sum was the best, as they were all exquisitely crafted. For the main course, we opted to share our dishes family-style, a decision we did not regret. The first dish, the lemon chicken, was perfectly cooked, and the lemony tang added a refreshing twist. The spare ribs with leeks, cumin, and sweet chili were an explosion of taste that left our taste buds dancing in delight. To complement the meats, we ordered roasted broccoli with ponzu sauce and macadamia nuts, a unique and flavorful side dish that perfectly balanced the meal. Additionally, we savored the nasi goreng, a delicious Indonesian fried rice that further expanded our gastronomic horizons. When it came to drinks, our waiter, Thomas, proved to be a gem. His recommendation of the Palomita was spot-on, offering a refreshing blend of tequila, lime, grapefruit soda, and tajin spice that perfectly complemented the meal. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his gimlet with 5 spices and lime, so much so that he ordered a second one. The attentiveness and knowledge displayed by Thomas were truly commendable and added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience. Aside from the culinary delights, we also had the pleasure of interacting with the hostess, who was warm and welcoming. Her friendly demeanor set the tone for the rest of the evening, making us feel like valued guests throughout our visit. In summary, Ron Gastrobar Oriental Downtown proved to be a hidden gem in Amsterdam's culinary scene. The diverse and flavorful dishes showcased their chefs' talent and passion for creating authentic Asian flavors. The dim sum tasting menu was a standout, and the family-style sharing of main courses allowed us to savor multiple delights. The drinks were perfectly crafted to complement the food, and the service provided by Thomas and the hostess made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Without a doubt, we will be returning to Ron Gastrobar Oriental Downtown on our next trip to Amsterdam, eager to explore more of their exquisite offerings and enjoy the warm hospitality they provide. Whether you're a local or a tourist looking for an extraordinary dining experience, this restaurant is a must-visit destination for food lovers seeking a fusion of flavors from the East.

There are many different kinds of small dishes to try such as dim sum and small Asian bites to share. Some were very good, some were just so so. In general very tasty food. Service was excellent and fast. A bit pricey for what you get in my opinion.

Always a sure hit for a dinner to impress friends and dates, for a special occasion, or just a nice evening out. Now that it's combined with the Downtown, you can even choose between Chinese and Indonesian vibes, and that's even better!

We were very curios to try this fusion Indonesian-Chinese place in the heart of Amsterdam by the great Ron. Expectations were not disappointed! We sat at the bar and had an impeccable service by the barman (manager?) - compliments to him and his accurate guests-minded skills. We ordered the wagyu dim sum, the bimi (absolutely delicious, probably the dish that impressed me the most) and the famous Indonesian rice table x2. All the food was extremely flavored, high quality ingredients, and great presentation. Definitely enough for 2 people! The cocktails were also very nice. The quality-price ratio is in line with this type of restaurants in Amsterdam; hence worth the money you spend. Definitely recommended!

Easy reservation system, staff is polite and helpful in communication. When you arrive you’re greeted warmly. Asian inspired menu dominates, with a variety of dim sum available (see photo of menu for prices). The prices are high overall for the very small portions, may be Ron blauw thinks his name is worth it. The quality and taste of food is good, since a lot of other Chinese dim sum places just use frozen stuff out of a bag. The atmosphere is trendy / casual chic, the drink selection is good but a bit pricey too. The service can be slow and forgetful so you have to keep track of them when it’s busy.

Please come! This place is buzzing 😍 special atmosphere, live music, cool crowd. Service is top, drinks are flowing (ask the bar tender for cocktails, can't go wrong...) Above all, we enjoyed the food. Asian/fusion cuisine, bite-sized dishes, easy to share, and thus perfect for trying all the different ones. Food is prepared with care, and it shows! Extra points for the bold flavors.

Super delicious! We were here for Restaurant Week, and they served a 3-course menu of dimsum, peking duck, and a fun dessert of white chocolate and passion fruit sorbet. The wagyu shumai was delicious. We intend on returning just for that lol. Ambiance was dark and trendy. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous. Overall, a pleasant dining experience.

We got there late without a reservation, but they found us two seats at the bar. The bartender, Enrico, took very good care of us! Tasty drinks to start us off, the shrimp toast as starter was great! As main course he stopped us from over ordering by telling us the duck was more than enough for two. If you want to try more of the menu i recommend sharing the duck with the table but it was delicious 👌 Atmosphere was nice and overall a very pleasant experience! We will go again for sure!

We had the bleu menu, which is a rice table Indonesian experience. We substituted the pork with fish and it was delicious. For us the spicy dishes were amazing, the sweeter ones not so much, but we don’t like sweet foods except if it is exclusively a dessert. The waiters were very nice and explained the menu well. I didn’t like the dessert bc I felt it lacked flavor and was overly sweet. Overall it was a great experience

Great restaurant. Was recommended to us by a friend. The food was delicious (especially the shrimp curry) and service was fab. The only minor comment would be the music was a little too loud. We are in our early 30’s, but even for us we felt it was a little loud. Other than that, top marks.

Had four dishes in total at this place. Dim sum wagyu appetizer, The soft shell crab, Thai beef salad and squid in black bean sauce. The portions of each of the aforementioned dishes are tiny, which is fine because they mention is shared dining. However each dish is 17,50 at least with some costing extra. The quality is nowhere close to the asking price. The soft shell crab was absolutely tiny, the squid salad literally only had 3 tiny pieces of squid and the rest fried onion, the beef in the salad was so smelly and clearly not fresh that it had turned brown on the sides (fresh raw meat should be RED). Only giving two stars because the wine was decent. Will not be returning.

First visit at Rons Gastrobar Downtown. We took advantage of Early Fork Benefit. Very nice ambiance, fantastic murals and friendly staff. The price/quality ratio of the dishes could be better. For example, the price of the rice table is high, and both the rice table and the appetizers contain a lot of salt and sugar. It is fresh but not very healthy, in the current conscious time in which we live, there is certainly more possibility to use natural salts and sweeteners.

This is a trendy restaurant in Amsterdam Centrum, part of a series by Ron. This one is an oriental style fine dining establishment. The decor is very tastefully done, and I enjoyed the artwork on the wall. We came as part of the Amsterdam restaurant week, the menu was a three course dinner. They have a good cocktail selection and it was fun watching the bartender as we sat at the bar. Loved every dish, flavor and texture all done wonderfully. Everything was beautifully presented, service was on point with each dish explained in detail and suggestions of eating order to get the most out of it. Wonderful first experience with this place and I would want to come back to try their regular menu too.

Excellent all around. I think the best thing to do here is get as many small plates and as much variety of dim sum that you can handle. The beef short rib was amazing, but I felt little silly missing out on so many options after. Also, the house cocktail list is legit.

The food was good, but for such a place you expect it to be at least a bit interesting and exciting. The only dish that was actually interesting and unique was the "Surprise egg" dessert. Other dishes - 3 from the Dim Sum category and one half of Pekin Duck were tasty but nothing more. The "cocktails" are super-simple mixes, with absolutely nothing special about them, despite the descriptions in the menu. Service was pretty bad, despite really trying hard to be good: Insanely long waiting time to take the orders (drinks and food) and to serve to the table, a glass of wine that was ordered but never served (when I mentioned it, they offered to serve it for free, but we already finished eating so I passed), and very long minutes of waiting to get attention from waiters. To top that, the bill was wrong, charging us for an extra half Pekin duck (EUR 42) and it took over 10 minutes to get the waiter to come and fix it. Altogether, a disappointing experience due to bad service and boring but good food.

Quite disappointing taste of food. Food can get really salty and sauce for pork tasted like ketchup than anything else. On top of that, the GT was very watery - I wondered if the tonic bottle has been opened for a long time?

Service is great. Cuisine is good but not exeptional. Wine list is very good. Good wine even by glasses.

(Translated by Google) Fantastic tasty dim sums, but over the top priced. Especially considering that a wine costs at least 6 euros a glass, you are not advised about matching wines and a wine is poured just before serving the dessert so that it no longer tastes. I would say super tasty for once, but not in the repetition of the ultimate wine food experience. Fantastic dim sums.

What a great experience, the team, atmosphere and most importantly, the food. Cocktails are quite basic, so stick with the wine for your dim sum parings. If you want the full experience, get the duck 3 ways and you will find yourself rolling out of this place. You will not be disappointed with anything you choose.

Very cosy and popular asian restaurant. The food was fantastic and if you have a group of up to 3 the best spot in the place is at the bar facing the kitchen. Nothing better than watching the amazing staff at work. Must order dishes are the wagu dim sum and the duck. You will not be disapointed!

(Translated by Google) Almost perfect, bold flavors, very friendly and attentive service and great atmosphere. Not cheap, but you also get something in return for quality.

(Translated by Google) Food was ok but extremely few. Share 3 mini pieces of fish with 4 people; sharing dessert with a table companion you barely know, not nice. But the worst was the poor service. Wine? No idea, he's from Italy. Coffee! Who? No, you expect something different from this. Wijn? Geen idee, hij komt uit Italië. Koffie! Wie? Nee hier verwacht je iets anders van.

So I've had two great and one mediocre experience here. All in all recommended. Very good Peking duck. Food pricing is very reasonable. It's easy to drive the price up with their excellent bar though.

(Translated by Google) Last night eating with 7 girlfriends. All delicious. Had a wonderful evening. 1 small point on my part: the music should be a bit softer for me, does it seem a bit more convenient for the staff to be more intelligible?

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why. The staff were also very well-...
