Incredible dining experience! The best we have had in Amsterdam. Expertly crafted dishes, super friendly service, and great to have the owner out of the kitchen chatting to people. Worth every 5 of the stars! Will definitely be back.

Delicious innovative food, in a lovely environment with on point wine/sake pairing and great service. The menu is well designed, the flavors are strong and a bit apart, the execution is perfect. The cabbage yakitori was a delight, as were the beef tataki, miso bread and the matcha canele. The mapo ramen was amazing! Very good sake’s and also interesting cocktails and whisky’s.

Just one word: WOW! What a fantastic experience. 10 Beautiful and yummy dishes Stunning service: professional, careful and at the same time friendly and easy going Nice location, with minimalist design with a Japanese touch. Considering the amount of food and the type of restaurant I believe the ratio quality/prices is very good

First: Thanks again for the pleasant evening. After a warm Welcome, we got seated in a really intimate atmosphere and explained every detail, also on how the evening has to go due to covid 19. So we went with Cocktails, the 5 course menu and a bottle of pink. They even gave us some different courses, as we were a couple, so we could taste even more. Everything just tasted great. Took some well known memories and gave it a twist. Had much details you kinda could fall into, if wanted. All deeply considered, in common to have the japanese taste. The whole staff was very friendly all evening and made us feel being at friends. Would recommend anyone to go there and have a lovely experience.

101 Gowrie is officially one of my favorite dining experiences to date. The ambiance, staff, menu, drink pairings…they all work in harmony to create a memorable (and delicious!) evening. The tasting menu is beautifully choreographed from start to finish. Some of my favorite bites were the seasonal vegetables, especially the white asparagus which I had never had tried before because it’s not common in the states. Something that is common in the states…dipping fries in soft serve. Which served as the inspiration for the chef’s new potato and vanilla dessert. To transform and elevate such a basic pairing into an elegant, perfectly balanced dessert…wow! It was silky and the fried potato topping added the perfect texture to the dish. If you’re planning a trip to Amsterdam, make a reservation ASAP!

Update march 2022 Finally a table. Quite an experience. Well chosen and balanced flavours. 10 course perfect diner. Well attending staff as well. High on (umami) flavours. Next level restaurant. 2021 Really need to visit this venue after Corona. I had the (one of the) last Bento box with chicken. Fortunately they do refills 😅. Good quality, rich taste and finish the dish when you pick up, so still nice and warm when arriving at home. Presentation also very good.

We had a very nice experience here. The staff and chef are friendly, introduced the dishes to us and always checked with us if everything is okay. Among this menu, we love the bread and the soup the most.

We absolutely loved our first experience at 101 Gowrie. We loved the intimate laid back vibes of the restaurant, not your typical fancy fine dining spot. We usually feel out of place while eating in fine dining restaurants, but this was amazing! The music was great and the food (and timing of the food) were fantastic! We had all the dishes on the menu and every dish blew our mind. Everything was thought out so well and I couldn't wish for a better dinner with my friends. We had an amazing time!

After taking my partner here for his birthday last fall I was more than happy to return for my own birthday to try out 101 Gowrie's current menu. The restaurant's interior is beautiful and cozy, making for a super relaxed setting to enjoy the amazing food. Every course was delicious, creative and interesting and elevated by the high quality of the ingredients. The entire experience was further elevated by the amazing front of house/hostess who never missed a beat in making sure we were enjoying the food and suggesting us wines and sakes to go along with the different courses.

I've been here 3 times and every time I keep getting delighted and surprised with the culinary creations that they serve. Every time I go there, I'm surprised that i spent up to 4h there while it feels like a lot less, in a positive way. The dishes that they serve, are Japanese inspired but completely unique. You won't find these creations anywhere in the world. They pair it wonderfully with wine and sake. The restaurant works with a single seating service, which means that you have all the time in the world to enjoy your meal. The interior is very inviting and warm, yet simple.

Just amazing. Chef Alex balances western cuisine with Japanese refinement. The front of house adds their Mediterranean charm into the mix, so it never gets pretentious. This is easily one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam. Creativity on a plate.

The guys at 101 Gowrie are doing some exceptional work in these times. The food is beyond delicious and is truly great comfort food. I’ve tried their burgers, some of the specials, sashimi bowls and other dishes, the cakes, bread and butter - all was fresh and very tasty. I think I can recommend pretty much anything they cook. It’s nice to come by for takeaway and have a nice chat - there’s still the friendly vibe. Can’t wait to get back for the full restaurant experience!

We had such an amazing experience here. The food and hospitality was impeccable. My partner and I had one of our finest culinary experiences at 101 Gowrie... highly recommend if you live in Amsterdam or are visiting. The chef Alex is so creative and constantly updating the menu. We cannot wait to return to see what exciting new menu items he’s created.

Really excellent food. The north sea squid and lamb neck were a highlight for us. Great wine pairing as well. Service was very good. Highly recommend.

Friendly staff, calm atmosphere, and the food was totally amazing 🤭🤩 Had the "small" menu, but was pleasantly surprised by how rich and varied it was for the price you pay too. Definitely recommend for a long date:)

Best nori rye bread/brioche ever. Beautiful, rich in flavors and warm. With the homemade butter and some wild garlic oil, I was teleported to a cabin next to the Fuji mountain during autumn. If the entire tasting menu consisted of only this item, I would have also been happy. Laid-back atmosphere and music.

We've been a handful of times in the past year, bringing friends as often as we can. The food is incredible, the style of it all is perfect, and it's our favourite restaurant in Amsterdam. If you're looking for fun and unique Japanese inspired flavours, fine dining without the pretentiousness, and am all around cool spot with great sake and drinks, go here. And plan for more than 3 hours. 😄

Absolutely delicious food, and great sake. My partner and I were pleasantly full after a dinner here. The food is so creative and does an amazing job of blending Japanese flavors with other influences. I was excited for every plate that was served to me. I also had my favorite sake ever here, which was made with strawberry flower yeast. Highly recommend eating here!

I have been lucky enough to have experienced Michelin-starred menus, and other equally high quality venues, and I can say that 101 Gowrie delivers on all levels. The menu is inventive, and consistent throughout; I also appreciated the understated yet cool decor - very Melburnian of the head chef ;) They even gave a hand-signed card from the staff to my boyfriend for his birthday - what not to love about it?! This is the first restaurant in Amsterdam I feel like going back - absolutely worth it, curious to see what's next. It surpassed my expectations. Thanks for the fantastic experience, you guys rock :)

Japanese influence fine dining. Despite it is it fine dining the atamosphere was very casual, not stiff at all, very comfortable. The staff were super friendly, every dish was explained very well, with a story (sometimes by the chef). Totally worth the money. Looking forward to go again

The presentation of each courses are pretty, but I don’t think the taste is worth the price. It’s either too salty (especially the main ) or too plain. They over used the word “Japanese inspired” as they just add some inexpensive seasoning like Dashi and XO sauce.

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why.
