The slightly worn, cluttered setting when you walk in belies the elevated dinner experience that lies ahead. Although the ingredients are simple, the flavors and presentation are captivating. There are five courses (€95pp) with the option of a good or exceptional wine pairing at higher rates. We opted for a nonalcoholic dinner, but friends who have visited highly recommend the wine pairing. Note that it's important to make a reservation in advance and even more important to confirm it when the owner reaches out via email, lest your reservation gets canceled. Which would be a real shame. The pork cheek was absolutely delicious, the cod melts in your mouth like a warm hug, and the nectarine iced dessert was hands down the best dessert we've had in a long time. As for what can be improved, the first course of brined tuna was only good, not great. The various elements in the dish didn't love each other, the union more closely resembled an arranged marriage. However, the one thing I'd really change is the bread; no butter on Earth can improve the experience of crunching on a rock hard dinner roll. Those minor points aside, we had a delightful dinner and left more than satisfied. My partner loved how intimate the atmosphere felt. It's like you're in someone's home, and they're taking good care of you with the freshest ingredients. Their dog, meandering around without a care in the world, adds to the cosiness.

The food is pretty good, but nothing that justifies the price, and I can't believe there aren't more reviews that talk about how overpriced this place is. I paid 75 euros for 3 courses (one was dessert), and the main course was really small because they want you to spend 95 euros on the 5-course option. I can easily find amazing 5-course menus in Amsterdam for less than 75 euros. The only positive side was the additional 20 euros I paid for wine pairings was actually a good deal and I really enjoyed the wine.

Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting Restaurant De Utrechtsedwarstafel in Amsterdam with my business partners, and it was truly an extraordinary fine dining experience that exceeded all expectations. From the impeccable service to the exquisite flavors and carefully selected wine pairings, every aspect of our evening was meticulously crafted to create a memorable culinary journey. The restaurant offers a unique dining concept with a set menu that takes you on a gastronomic adventure. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared and artfully presented, showcasing the culinary mastery of the chef. From the moment we took our first bite of the asparagus soup, we knew we were in for a treat. The delicate flavors and velvety texture of the soup set the stage for what was to come—a symphony of flavors that unfolded with each subsequent course. Accompanying each dish was a fantastic wine pairing, carefully chosen to enhance the flavors and elevate the dining experience. What truly impressed us was the owner's ability to share the story behind each wine and winery. Their passion and knowledge shone through as they provided a brief narrative, adding an extra layer of depth to our meal. It was a delightful blend of culinary artistry and oenological exploration. The menu at De Utrechtsedwarstafel showcased a diverse range of flavors and textures, ensuring there was something to please every palate. From the succulent fish to the perfectly cooked beef, each dish was a harmonious combination of ingredients and techniques. The attention to detail and the use of premium ingredients were evident in every bite, leaving us in awe of the chef's skill and creativity. One of the standout moments of the evening was the dessert—a delicious finale that perfectly captured the essence of indulgence. Whether it was a decadent chocolate creation or a refreshing fruit medley, the desserts at De Utrechtsedwarstafel were the epitome of culinary artistry, providing a sweet and satisfying conclusion to our meal. The "slow food" concept embraced by the restaurant truly allowed us to unwind and savor each moment. We were encouraged to sit back, relax, and let the owner and their team take care of everything. The wait time between dishes was perfectly paced, allowing us to appreciate each course and engage in conversation without feeling rushed. It's an experience that encourages you to disconnect from the outside world and fully immerse yourself in the joy of fine dining. For those planning to visit, it's important to allocate at least two hours for the entire dining experience. This will give you ample time to relish every course, savor the wine pairings, and truly appreciate the meticulous attention to detail that goes into each aspect of your meal. In conclusion, Restaurant De Utrechtsedwarstafel in Amsterdam offers an extraordinary fine dining experience that delights all the senses. With its set menu, exceptional wine pairings, and impeccable service, it delivers a culinary journey that is truly unparalleled. The "slow food" concept allows you to relax and enjoy every moment, while the owner's passion and knowledge add an extra layer of enchantment to the experience. If you're seeking an unforgettable gastronomic adventure, make sure to visit Restaurant De Utrechtsedwarstafel and prepare to be captivated by their exceptional offerings.

The restaurant is cozy, warm house vibe and nostalgic decoration. Food 10/10 with wine pairing on 100% success rate. The most of the night is that you can chill and enjoy wine, eat good and have Hans around (the owner), no questions without answers and no answers without fun!! About the price everything is pretty normal, don't cry about money you don't have so don't spend money you don't make, simple!!

Absolutely outstanding culinary experience, from start to finish. The owner was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about his restaurant. He introduced each course and wine pairing, explaining each dish and creating an immersive experience for both the mind and the mouth. My husband and I enjoy fine dining, and we both felt that this was the best dinner event we have ever had. It was truly special and such a memorable way to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We also loved the owner's sweet little dog!

Although we somehow missed the arrival confirmation mail, and our table was cancelled, we were still seated by the owner, who is the wine expert that did the pairings throughout the dinner. There was a bit of a communication barrier due to his English but he was interesting and knowledgeable. Food was excellent, the chef did a great with each element of each dish. The sea bass over barley was just amazing!! The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere.

We had our Amsterdam Date Night here in Feb 2022, and we STILL talk about this dinner almost 2 years later. It's definitely one of the best meals of our life so far. We got the set menu with the wine pairing, and it was just perfect. Of course, it was also the most expensive meal we've probably had, but it was definitely worth it. The atmosphere is very cozy. Our host was friendly and gave us a whole background to the food we were having and made it very personal.

Last Saturday June 5th, we booked a table at De Utrechtsedwarstafel. After months of restaurants being closed, this restaurant was the absolute first we wanted to go to again. Hans and Esther always make you feel very much at home and their food and wine combination is fantastic. A brilliant concept where the table will be yours for the whole evening and it gives such a calm and relaxed atmosphere. None of that double shift malarkey! It was a very busy first evening after being closed for months and with brand new, lovely staff. Dishes were very subtle and the wines that came with them really finished it all off very well. We had a five course meal. Our favourite was a dish with king prawn, aubergine, oyster mushrooms and a muffin made of pumpkin. It blew us away. Such a surprising combination that worked wonderfully well. My favourite was the dessert with ice cream made of the grapes that grew outside the restaurant. Thanks and see you again soon!

Truly the best dining experience in life of me and my gf. We’ve been to many Michelin places around and in Moscow, but this has set a whole new level of food joy to us! Will definitely visit again one day! Hans is a unique character, a charming host with a special attitude! Wine selection is also one of a kind. Highly recommended! The street where the place is located is a gem in itself!

Stunning! A fantastic experience for our group. Hans was an amazingly knowledgeable sommelier who delivered some of the most unique and wonderful wines that we have ever tasted. Paired with 7 course of purely delectable dishes. Chef Esther is an artist of her craft and we were privileged to enjoy her food. I warmly recommend this Amsterdam gem. It will be a memory for a lifetime.

This place was absolutely amazing! Atmosphere was wonderful. Staff was obviously under staffed, only 1 chef, 1 dishwasher, and 1 waiter/sommelier. But the experience was completely worth it. I chose the 7 course meal which was a hit every dish. We paired it with the “better” wine menu and I hate that I won’t be able to import some of these wines to America. Absolutely the best ones I’ve had in my life. The whole experience was intimate. Only ~10ish tables that never turned while we were there. We were even able to meet the Chef. We’ve been trying to find restaurants that were Michelin star reviewed. This place was not one of them but I don’t know how it wasn’t. It was such an amazing experience, delectable food….better than any other fine dining restaurants that we’ve been.

5 star experience My girlfriend and I came here to celebrate a special trip and this restaurant gave us a run for our money! It was everything and more. We are so glad we found this place because it truly was the best dining experience we have ever had. From the beginning to end we loved it. The owner of the restaurant (who assisted us the whole evening) was so detail oriented it really brought such a deep sense of appreciation to everything. The wine selection, the food pairing. It was all divine. It’s a one of a kind place and we would recommend it to anyone wanting to experience a night to remember (especially with someone special). We can’t wait to come back!

I had the best food and dining experience of my life here. Intimate and absolutely delicious. Our dinner was 3-4 hours, 5 courses, each with a wine pairing introduced by Hans himself. A great way to mark a special occasion.

This is clearly a very fancy place. You pay for what you get. So it's not cheap but food and wine are just delicious and the pairing is magistral. The owner does not about wine and really takes the time to explain what you're served and why. The place is also very cozy. Had a great evening there!

We walked in after the kitchen was closed late one night this past July. The owner, a very special character, offered to open up a bottle of an Italian Sangiovese of my choice, lit up a candle and started a great conversation about the good things in life. Very special atmosphere. Many locals were enjoying themselves in the back of the dinning room. A friendly puppy was resting under the counter. No music. Art. Lovely evening.

Visiting this restaurant is an experience unlike none other. The food was delicious and every dish was described to us how it was made by the chef herself ! And where do I start about the owner and the wine. All of the wines are rare and unable to be bought in a store, so you won't taste wine this good anywhere else. And just like the food, the owner describes how the wine was made, where it originates and teaches you fun facts about it. And all this while you're dining under a grape vine from which they make the desert!

What nice simple and excellent place! Had a special wine paring with a 5course dinner. Eclectic plates, quality ingredients, and most importantly the place wasn’t “stuffy”... Good service by owner and overall good and easy time. Recommend. (Had trouble finding the place as it’s tacked away between local streets)

This was such a great dining experience. There was such a delicious, fresh and innovative tasting menu paired with maybe some of the best wines I’ve had. The owner has a clear passion for what he does- it shines through. I felt incredibly lucky to go to this place and I hope I will get to go back one day. The decor and the vibe are so cozy and intimate, with splashes of humor here and there. Big shout out to the little pupper, Chiara!

In my entire life there has only been one other meal that I have enjoyed as much as the one we had here. Food, wine, ambiance, service...the whole experience was magical.

Dine here! The dishes and wine were unique and delicious. Atmosphere is intimate and upscale but not stuffy. Service and timing was perfect. Five courses over nearly four hours—best meal and evening in Amsterdam. Truly talented wine pairings. The proprietors are true artists of food and wine!

Had no idea what we were walking in to! Hans is the owner and host of everything. No menu, he just started bringing wine and food. 7 courses, too much food but it was amazing and what a gastronomic experience!!!

This restaurant is a gem! The owner is extremely knowledgeable about the wine selection. He provided us with a background of each wine. The meals are prepared with specially selected seasonal and where possible local ingredients. The ambiance is cozy, romantic and elegant. Exquisite!
