Restaurant Italian restaurant

👍 I've been to this place a few times and as an Italian living in Amsterdam I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, overtime the prices got higher and the portions smaller. The whole menu doesn't provide options of pasta for less then 16€, even for a classic Bolognese. My friend took the gnocchi and pai... I've been to this place a few times and as an Italian living in Amsterdam I highly recommend it. Unfortunately, overtime the prices got higher and the portions smaller. The whole menu doesn't provide options of pasta for less then 16€, even for a classic Bolognese. My friend took the gnocchi and paid 22€, which was definitely not worth it. Overall, great quality and tasty food but too overpriced considering the restaurant is not even located in the center of Amsterdam and the portions are quite small.

Very tasty, fresh food, good presentation, very friendly and quick service. You can see your food being prepared for you if you want. Prices are good, even though portions aren't large. Best to reserve a table in advance.

Great Italian food and very affordable. Service was also very nice. We had a large table as we visited as a team and they allowed us have a baby shower there. Everything was nicely arranged and beautiful. And oh... the tiramisu is a must have. 👌🏾

Had a great time here with my friend and daughter, service was really friendly. He even came to apologize that it took them a little more time to prepare the main. The burrata with tomatoes ravioli was amazing! I liked the red shrimp pasta. The only dish that was indeed very salty was the carbonara. We felt like the sauce was to salty and Haha the extra crisp on top added even more saltiness to it. Overall I would def go back to try the other pastas next time!

The food was delicious, and the service was incredibly friendly and attentive. My only suggestion for improvement would be to consider upgrading the tea selection beyond the standard Lipton bags. It’d be great if a more premium tea were offered.

The food is amazing and the staff are as well. The ambient is really nice and friendly. Had the fried gnocchi and mozzarella as a starter and had spaghetti with cheese bacon and walnut - so highly recommend this place if you look for reasonable priced food :-)

The food was fantastic. We had ravioli with burrata and scampi, spaghetti carbonara and pasta with shrimp tartare. Everything was excellent. Just like in Italy. The service was profesdionell and cordial. Our new favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. Also super tasty on the second visit.

A few of us went here for dinner and since this is a highly rated pasta place, I was expecting the pasta to be extraordinary. The pasta was fairly good, but I've had much better in a lot of places so -1 star. The portion of ravioli was minuscule, more suitable as a children's portion so -1 star again. The best thing I've had here was the Pan di Fragole which was a pleasant surprise. Overall a good experience, but don't expect to be blown away by the pasta.

We had a great experience at Pastai. The food was great, the staff was nice and the prices were fair. I can‘t agree with any of the bad feedback I read. I also liked how the owner tasted and finished the pasta off by adding seasoning, making it perfect before it was being served to the Customer. We choose to sit at the bar and it was great to watch the chefs prepare the dishes.

Excellent truly Italian restaurant in Amsterdan. A well elaborated menu with some wonderful Italian dishes. A decent wine menu and other drink options. The service is friendly and the kitchen works fast right in front of your eyes.

We went to this place, I Pastai, during our very first evening in Amsterdam, because some people recommended it to us. The way they hosted us, and the quality of their food, completely confirmed our expectations. Delicious Italian pasta, and awesome Tiramisù. Extremely recommended both for Italians and non-Italians :D

It was our first visit at Pastai. The food was really good, especially the starter (the fried pizza dough) was awesome. The location looks really nice and cozy. The service itself sadly was really slow and seemed unorganized even though they were nice! The main course was also really good. One of us order the pasta with truffles, the fresh truffle was also out that night, they still charged the whole price. All in all it's a really good restaurant with just some little tweaks to make the experience perfect.

We found some peace in Amsterdam. Incredible food in a charming and relaxing place. The food and the place were great but Michele, the guy that took care of us, made our night with his attentions and kindness. I was with my parents so not an easy task. P.S. sorry for the pictures but I was busy eating

Good food at affordable prices. Service was very nice but could’ve been more attentive at times. Selection of pasta was very diverse and included traditional dishes ! Good

We really enjoyed our meal here. Simple menu with good ingredients to elevate the flavors. Pasta was perfectly al dente but also a good serving size unlike many places in Amsterdam now.

It was amazing! From the menu that I needed help choosing from, to the execution and the fun detailing. Tiramisu plate like you've never seen before! Highly recommend

We had reserved the table for 7:30 but due to how busy it was we had to wait 30 minutes. However the staff were super accommodating although it is a small restaurant and found a way to make us have a nice and comfortable time. The food was delicious, I’ve tried a few different dishes at the restaurant and no matter what dish I try I am always pleasantly surprised. The pasta they serve is super delicious especially the gnocchi and the truffle spaghetti. Definitely a cozy hidden spot worth a visit.

Something has changed at this place. I liked that it used to have all the classic pastas for an affordable price , swift service and great wines. It was like lunch places you’d go to in Italy. Now they seem to have switched to being more of a ‘fancy’ place with an updated menu and rather high prices. However, I find this new image not suitable for the place. The interior of the place, the service and also the menu doesn’t speak ‘fine dining’. For me personally , I liked the place much more before - you would have a great pasta, couple of glasses of wine, a small talk with the staff and you’re out within an hour. It was one of my favorite places. Now you wait for 1 hour just to get food but it’s not the kind of place where you want to be for hours, at least as it is set up now. It’d be my honest advise to the owners to go back to the previous model if possible or to reconsider the current concept.

Small but good Italian restaurant in the Oud West neighborhood. Fresh pasta, flavorful ingredients, good wine selection. The frittura di calamari is outstanding (the deepfrying is not killing the taste of calamari). Pappardelle mirtilli e salsiccia were an interesting experiment, the ravioli were capturing the taste of (good) Italian food. Prices are in line with the average. The staff is attentive and friendly, really deserves a generous tip.

Not traditional pasta/italien foods but you can still feel chef’s dedication to infuse new idea into pasta. Definitely delicious pasta

This restaurant is small but perfect. They don't cram the people in and I would recommend sitting on the bar by the kitchen where you can watch the chefs prepare all the meals. I had the octopus pasta and it was excellent. My wife had the special truffle tagliatelle which she stated was the best pasta dish she's ever had. The appetizers of prosciutto and scallops were excellent as well. I would highly recommend anyone to eat here. 10/10

Overall, one of the best Italian restaurants in Ams without a doubt🥰 (friendly staffs) I tried the special menu of the month which was black truffle pasta. I was speechless after I had this!!! Hope they put this in the menu so that I can come and eat it in regular basis!! 😊😊 I wouldn't recommend the seafood pasta as we expected some more seafood like I tried in Italy. However the taste of it was good! I would definitely come here again 🥰

Positive: atmosphere, entrance, wine, service. Negative: mains (carbonara, sausage, Bolognese), the bathroom had the heating off.

Italian food is my favourite so after I read the reviews for Pastai I was quietly excited to dine there on Thursday. However, there is nothing quietly exciting about this bustling little bistro. IT WAS AMAZING! The square footage is small, but you can book many different configurations of seating: bar stools at the window or at the kitchen counter, romantic table for two, larger family dining tables, or higher level tables and chairs. The kitchen (only one chef, that never looked harried!) is all open so you can already smell wonderful aromas as you walk in and are greeted by friendly wait staff that are solicitous without being saccharine. The menu is small, but I was tempted by everything (that wasn't meat) on it. I wanted to start with the grouper on fennel and ginger cream, with crispy zucchini chips alas the fish had been marinated with garlic...however I was in no way disappointed by the burrata antipasti. Super fresh! After, my partner had handmade black ravioli with salmon and leeks, cooked with butter, rosemary and orange zest. There was just the right hint of salmon and the combo of leek, rosemary and zest was sublime. I ordered the gnocchi a first for me, but who couldn't be tempted by handmade potato gnocchi with spicy gorgonzola, figs and honey? It lived up to expectations. Tiramisù tastes and looks different in every Italian restaurant, and this one, served in a terracotta plant pot and was light, fluffy and delicious. The wine list, again was small, but very well chosen and not over-priced. The biggest and best surprise was how well priced it all was. We'll be back - this is currently our #1 Italian pick in Amsterdam!

Good pasta and burrata is amazing! The only thing I didn’t like: We were company of 6 people and they seated us at the big table..and it was impossible to talk. The table is too big and in order to talk to each other you have to shout. We ate pasta and left so we can go to another place and talk :)

We had a truly delightful dinner at Pastai! I chose the restaurant last minute because I saw on the website they have an entire Italian staff and serve homemade pasta, so how can it not be good? My husband and I sat at the bar and spent the evening watching the chefs prepare one amazing dish after another. When our meal arrived (salmon/leek ravioli in a rosemary butter sauce & pasta Bolognese), it did not disappoint. There's good food all over Amsterdam, but the reason to come to this place is the staff. They create such a warm atmosphere, genuinely seem to like one another and made us feel very welcome. At the end of the evening, the owner came over and shared a few stories about the restaurant. If we find ourselves in Amsterdam we will definitely go back!

A small restaurant with a simple, but delicious (and some classical options I might add) that you will def enjoy. Usually you need a reservation as it’s quite full, but if you are early you will find a free spot without a problem.

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why.
