In our short trip to Amsterdam we had lunch here, and it was so good we came back the next day. Very comfortable, with lovely padded seating that you can really relax into, and great food at reasonable prices. Excellent burgers and especially recommend the roast veg on sourdough. Thanks to the friendly staff for a great venue.

The interior was really well made and the food was also alright. The bread on the gambas was partially burnt, the first question for the drink took them around 15 minutes after we were seated. So me and my partner were a bit irritated. Besides the food the service was rather poor. Sometimes I think certain restaurants do not get the concept of service as a major part of the customer experience. The restrooms were also not very clean, which is something I use as a major reference in a restaurant giving average to high prices. Good enough for 3 stars, but not more than that.

Food and ambiance were excellent. Service was very average for a place as nice as this was. Found I had to call the server over multiple times as they never really checked on our table or were proactive at asking if we needed anything or refilling wine or water.

I had my bday celebrations . Having dined there several times . It was amazing the only downside was that the lobster was cold . The did rectify it and not charge us on the bill . So that was appreciated . The waiter even sang happy birthday . Lovely surprise to know he was a trained opera singer . Very talented

A lovely restaurant with amazing staff, I didn’t catch the waitress name but I have to give her her praise, such a lovely and knowledgeable lady. Of course the food was delicious with the right amount of size so nothing goes to waste

I really need to update my review for this restaurant that was one of my favorites in Amsterdam. Since Covid, the service became really bad: very very slow, not professional and last time very disrespectful. The guy told me that an Amex metal card is a fake card and they don't accept this type of cards whereas I already paid with my Amex there. The same person also explained to us that food will come with salad even if we don't like it as they cannot remove it in the kitchen... Unbelievable! The food itself became quite average despite nice raw materials. Really an issue with the kitchen, not warm. Surely linked to the very slow service. I will not come back to this one, the Black nearby it is really better (same group of restaurants) and the service is really better too,for much better prices. Previous review: Restaurant RED is one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. I first really like the concept, only lobsters and beef. The food is excellent, and I really recommend the main course which is a mixed of a lobster and beef. French fries served with the main course are also excellent. Desserts are good too. The staff is professional, efficient and friendly and the location is nice, on one of the most beautiful canals of Amsterdam. I really recommend this restaurant.

We live around the corner and always wanted to try RED brunch. This was our experience today: good food; beautiful interior!! But not clean (pics). Unfriendly reception, service and attitude from waitress Jaia. After waiting 10+mins for 2 cuppacinos we ordered food (they were not busy-we were the only tbl of 2 inside, and ~5 tbls outside). Our conversation: Me to her: ”How long does it take for croque madame?”. She(not smiling): “That depends. How long is long you think?”. Me (although bit surprised by that arrogance): “20 min”. She: “It wont take that long”.. We literally got our food at 19 mins, no joke! The food was great (sharing pic too). Must also say - the other waitress was super sweet and friendly. Anyway, I generally go alot by reviews, so I shared mine. :)

Food was great, especially the special of the day Wasabi cucumber gazpacho Salmon! Scallops appetizer was perfectly cooked, so as Steak! Staff was nice and friendly, however we did get our appetizer before wine and water.. Cool design! One suggestion is to have a real flowers on the tables instead of dusty feathers.. Overall a great dinner experience, will comeback for sure!

Today, I visited the Good Old Restaurant Red, and I must say that it was a complete letdown. The restaurant has lost its former charm and quality. I ordered the surf and turf with medium-cooked beef, but the entire experience was a series of disappointments. Firstly, the steak was served in a completely burnt state. Despite my efforts to give it a chance, I couldn't even cut through the meat, rendering it inedible. It was clear that the kitchen had either neglected or lacked the skills to prepare such a basic dish properly. Secondly, I was taken aback by the kitchen's audacity to serve such a poorly cooked steak. It was evident that no attention to detail or care was given to the food preparation, leaving me questioning the overall competence of the establishment. Lastly, the prices at this restaurant are exorbitant. Paying €46 for a measly 160g steak and half a lobster was already known to us beforehand, but we expected a satisfactory dining experience in return. Unfortunately, after not being able to eat my dinner or receiving all the items I ordered, we decided to leave the place. Leaving this kind of a negative dining experience with a bill of €150 for two was a harsh reality check. Not only will I be removing Restaurant Red from my list of fine dining spots, but I also strongly believe that the amount of money spent there was a complete waste. I implore future visitors to seriously consider this before making the same mistake. Save your time, money, and appetite for a restaurant that values its customers and provides a memorable dining experience.

Delicious food! Lobster roll with brioche just made my day 🥰

This really is my go-to restaurant in Amsterdam. The filet mignon and steak tartare are wonderful. The red box with lobster delivered to my hotel suite was equally delightful (if complicated to order). Eat outside if you can. The view is beautiful.

The restaurant has a interesting design but the light was so low that the pictures are not very clear (don t get me wrong, i liked the atmosphere just i don t like the pics i got). We ate some fancy foods with high prices - it was good but not overwhelming. Overwhelming was the bill instead :)). Indeed, an experience.

We were goup of 8 people, so i'm expressing overall feedback. Food was simply not good... Not well prepared... And surely overpriced for the level of dishes and service provided.

My friend and i stumbled across this place and we both found the menu mouthwatering so booked a table for dinner the same night. It was quite hot inside the restaurant, so we sat near the door and luckily it eventually cooled down. The Camembert (€12.50) was still a bit cold when it was served, the core was still hard, so we asked for it to be warmed up more. It looked a bit smaller than were other places would serve, but it turned out to the be the perfect portion after having the rest of the food. I loved the red onion chutney that came with it on the side. For mains we had the ribeye steak for two (€69), the meat was perfectly cooked to medium rare. It came with unlimited chips, which i thought was one of the best ive had. It was cooked to absolute perfection, crispy thin on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside (please give me the recipe mmm). We had the asparagus and veggies on the side. Beside the slightly under-heated camembert, the service could have been better. Although they followed up and asked how was the meal, they were not very attentive, they were either sitting down or on their phone, they could not see that we needed their attention. The interior caught my attention when I was looking in from the outside, it was beautiful.

Last Sunday my best friend took me out to dinner for my Birthday at Red! When we came in we were greeted by Anna and she was our hostess of the night. She truly made my birthday dinner such an amazing experience! From the way she greeted us to her explanation of the menu everything was carried out with the utmost care. The food was amazing and my tournedos was cooked to perfection. Super tender and well seasoned. The team surprised me with a plate that had the text “Happy birthday” on it, such a great way to end the night. This was defenitly a night for the books. A special thanks to Anna and the wonderful team!

I had an interesting experience at this restaurant. Our waitress accidentally spilled beer on us while serving it. However, the ambiance was fantastic with a lovely setup and beautiful colors. I especially enjoyed the cozy cushions. On the downside, the wait for our food was excruciatingly long, which was a major letdown. It made me wonder if the chef was handling the kitchen alone. To make matters worse, when the food finally arrived, the eggs were served cold. Overall, it had its ups and downs, but the service and wait times need improvement.

Overpriced lobster roll which was not lobster and veggie burger that was not vegetables The best thing about this place is the ceiling decor. The food is all fake. The lobster roll is not made of lobster or if it is it's 1% and hidden with mock fish/mock lobster and tons of mayo. The supposed vegetarian burger is not vegetables at all but mock meat/poor version of beyond/impossible with it's fake meat taste. The menu does not say either of these things so it's basically advertising falsely. It's a tourist trap. It knows we'll only be there once be beware of the fake ingredients unless you like paying 20 euros for fake food.

We liked the restaurant service and ambiance. Our ribeye steak for two was a disappointment as it was too chewy and lean. As we are used to very good steaks back in the US we rarely order steaks as they always disappoint. We were told that this place is known for their steaks so we wanted to give it a try. The rest of the food was great. Service was very good.

Last year we went to its sister restaurant Black and really enjoyed it so thought we’d try this one. We were a large group of 10 and had booked ahead of time. We all tried their rib eye with fries which was excellent, can’t fault their meat cooking skills. I had the scallops for starters which were delicious and creamy also. We had a few cocktails and wine bottles also, everything was good and service was decent. Very quiet restaurant, almost a romantic vibe to it so perhaps not the best place for 10 rowdy lads on tour. Reasonably priced in my opinion, good location. Looking forward to restaurant BLUE next year!

We had a great lunch at RED. Still in holiday festive mode I tried the beer tenderloin with bearnaise sauce. The steak was perfectly prepared, tender and delicious. We loved the fries as well.

My personal favorite was the scallops. It was perfectly cooked, very fresh and juicy on the inside. One of the best Cornish Hen I’ve ever had. Chicken was not dry at all. It was seasoned well and moist. The steak came with the sauce bearnaise on the side. It was an interesting combo. Every dish I had was great, recommend it for a visit if you are a fan of modern European food!! The seafood served at this restaurant in Amsterdam is sumptuous and tasteful to the palate. The ambiance was good. Price is reasonable. Make reservations if you can as it can be crowded.

Went there with restaurant week for a lunch. Waited 1h+ to get our order taken (and then taken again because the waiterss does not know how to work with the system); 30 mins to get the first course meal (which was a burrata, nothing to cook there), and then a lot of time between the two meals. they forgot to give us the side fries and salad with the second one. In the end they forgot to bring us our cappucino's and only after we reminded them 20 mins later we got then. overall nice food, ridiculous service

The service here is excellent. I came in the afternoon and they accommodated space for me to do some work and to be near an outlet. The vibe is really artsy and eccentric and the food was excellent, I got the sandwich with grilled vegetables. Delicious 😋

From the start when we got to the restaurant the waitress was not polite and unfriendly. She said to us and couple of other customers to wait because she does not have time at the moment in a very rude way. This was not our first time there and we didn't have problems prior to this but definitely our last time after this. For such a location and a pricy restaurant this kind of rude service is unacceptable.. PS. DO NOT TRY THE VEGIE BURGER ITS HORRIBLE!

Good restaurant for a business lunch or casual dinner. I like the surf and turf here, the steak was very well cooked. It’s soft and tender, without being too raw and juicy. The lobster soup was fine, a little bit too salty for me. I like the atmosphere of the restaurant, it’s kinda romantic. The restroom was very clean too, they’ve also laid down a few thoughtful grooming products near the basin.

Positively exquisite! The steak was served with a light creme sauce and glass shard shaped sea salt, pepper and thyme to dip. A fun take on a classic filet mignon. Ultimately tender and robust.

Dont bother. Food is okay but staff are not trained. And dont think they really care either. We listened to them tell some customers they were fully booked and the next staff member said tables were available. The place was empty when we were there on as Saturday night!. Wine was served luke warm, food was dumped" on the table. Orders were missed.. the list goes on and on. Find somewhere else.

Mistakes in orders, entrées were exquisite wine qas excellent, waiters are very nice, main plate rib eye steak 600g was a disaster. All in all they need some tweaks and they will be much better

This is a good restaurant, they could improve by serving on warmed plates. Also the salad served in a tin can could have had a bit of dressing. Nice location and ambience though.

Wating first 10 minutes to get the menu (waiter surprised when I nodded, asking what I wanted), then, other 10 minutes without approaching, not even slight eye contact. 20 minutes waiting, we decided to leave. Honestly, worst service we got in Amsterdam.

Bad food and terrible service. One of us ordered the daily food, after 1 hour they told us that they did not have it… we also ordered bloody mary’s and they only they basically only had vodka in them because they were out of tomato juice… I mean they could have told us that it was not on the menu either but nope…

A cozy and conveniently located restaurant featuring a good and varied menu. We opted for burrata and shrimp as appetizers and then had steaks as main courses. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the flavor was excellent. A nice and not too touristy place to which we will come back.

The restaurant is really cosy! The service is good. The quantities are generous. I took the veggie burger and piece of info it really tasted like meat so I put the steak aside. It was good but if like me you really don't like meat don't take it.

Lovely place in the heart of Amsterdam. We ordered some lunch food to share, it was delicious, we enjoyed so much the moment in the restaurant, with nice music, warm and deco-art place, I suggested making a reservation before, we could not get a reservation because they told us, they have a big reservation this evening. We saw later a big event. we also had some cocktails, they also have some option without alcohol, the waitrees was so help us and kind. such a good experience!

Our first night in Amsterdam and this was definitely one to remember. Fabulous food, lovely staff and great place. The lobster was to die for! We will be coming back for sure!
