Was very crowded and we waited for a table for 2 around 15 mins when we arrived around 10. The platters are huge. Would definitely recommend this place for those with a sweet tooth, but we got savory dishes instead. Love that the breakfast comes with coffee and juice. Waitresses were very nice and friendly.

Went to The Pancake Bakery three times during my stay in Amsterdam. The highlight are definitely the sweet pancakes, you can just get whatever they recommend on the menu itself. They're delicious as desserts with a nice coffee to relax during a long day of walking around. We also had the bacon omelette and nachos, which were pretty good, nothing super different. They're big, so you definitely get your money's worth in that sense. Even if it's not super cheap. The only thing is while service really isn't bad or unfriendly, there's always a bit of a line in a tight space (sometimes you have to wait outside so don't be surprised once you get there). It's usually not a huge wait, but it always feels like staff could do a better job at being attentive to sitting those next in line. Every time we saw customers leave and not really be seated right after they cleaned the table. Not a huge issue, but it could be better. The space itself is cozy and somewhat tight, but depending on which table you'll get it's very comfortable and relaxing experience. Worth the visit.

First the good. Nice place with friendly attentive staff. The Pancakes were made from quality ingredients and the coffee and juice was very good. The negative a bit too sweet. A bit touristy and probably catering to the American sweetness level. But you can get better pancakes at other places.

We went here first thing in the morning when it opened and had a great time. The staff was friendly and inviting, and the food was excellent! We had the Ham and Mushroom pancake, and a Bacon and Mushroom pancake. Looking back, one of us should have picked a sweet option instead of two savory ones, but it was early and we were jet-lagged and not thinking well apparently. Either way, the food was great and we loved them both anyway. You won't regret making a trip here.

First of all, great service. The staff were friendly and helpful, they come back during your meal to check up on you and ask how your meal was. Ordered the Canadian Pancake, loaded with cheese, mushroom, bacon the pancake was huge. Recommended to be shared if you are not a big eater or order a different one so you can share with each other. Also ordered the Dutch pancake with butter and sugar, delicious plump little pancakes. Definately worth a visit for PANCAKES IN AMSTERDAM!

One of the oldest pancake savory place, you gota visit if you’re in Amsterdam. What a creation, smooth, fluffy just melts in your mouth.Portion size is great so person like me gets filled with one order. Menu is brief with self explanatory toppings detail ,lots of varieties with lots of cheese on top. There is always wait time, because its very famous spot for breakfast.

Absolutely fantastic, the queue was worth the wait, tables turn very quickly, perfect brunch sweet or savory. Service was excellent. Pancakes were beautiful. Would highly recommend this place est 1973 and it's still going. Decor is very old school rustic and dark which I love. Perfect for family, friends, dates.

A fantastic restaurant. We went for breakfast and we’re certainly not disappointed. The portions were huge and the food well prepared. The staff were informative and extremely helpful. The coffee was also really good. Would definitely recommend the apple pancake!

Located along one of the beautiful canals of Amsterdam, in one of the charming historic houses, you can find the Pancake Bakery. Sitting a of in the basement means it‘s quite dark in there, too bad that there‘s no outdoor seating, was a bit of sad to sit in the dark on a sunny day. Nevertheless, the pancakes are absolutely worth a visit, they really mastered the art of pancakes. Had the one with cheese and bacon, and both was crispy. We even came back for breakfast the next day then. Very nice place and would recommend.

I love the pancakes! The Dutch pancake was sweet and had a taste of Speculaas in it. The Raisins in Brandy had a decent amount of liquor in it. Very happy with the food. Place was a bit crowded and had to wait to be seated. It was a good experience

Never had a pancake like this before. We got two savory and two sweet pancakes and shared amongst 4 which was perfect. My favorite was the Chilean and Canadian savory pancakes— the way the meat is prepared into the pancake is a whole other level of pancake flavor. Super tasty, highly recommend! (The fresh orange juice was also lovely)

2023.12.22 Nachos is the best one that I have ever had. Pancake and omelette are both excellent. I highly recommend every one comes. By the way hot tea is free. Staffs are all friendly.

Absolutely loved the poffertjes! These bite-sized Dutch pancakes were incredibly delicious, with a perfect balance of sweetness. They were fluffy and served piping hot, creating a delightful treat. A must-try for anyone who enjoys a delightful and unique dessert experience

I want to share our disappointing experience at this Amsterdam restaurant. We went there based on a hotel recommendation. A friendly guy welcomed us and let us choose our table. But things went downhill from there because of the young waitress. She actively ignored us. We waited a long time, and she didn't take our order, even though she walked right by us twice. We had to go to ask the kitchen staff for service. When we asked for water, she ignored us again. We just wanted to leave, so we used gestures and spoke loudly to get the bill. Still, she ignored us, focusing on other customers. I had to stand up and ask the kitchen staff for the bill. The lady there redirected us to our waitress. It was only when a guy from another part of the restaurant gave us the bill that we could leave. I expressed our dissatisfaction to him, but he brushed it off and asked about the food. We said it was just "okay," too salty and oily. If we could, we'd give this place a negative rating. No one should be treated the way we were by that waitress.

Loved this place and their staff! They accommodated for a group of 13 of us and did a great job of it. The food was lovely and fresh and so quick. We got savoury pancakes to share and some sweet ones at the end, they were delicious. Advisable to book before you go as it can get really busy. Max was our waiter for the afternoon who was fantastic throughout. There was a lady who gave us our food who was a tad abrupt and basically threw our food plates at us and didn't apologise but Max service outweighed hers. Thank you to the teams and PB Amsterdam. It did not disappoint.

We went there for pancakes but they were not good. It was more like a crepe. But their Canadian omelette was amazing and a must try. It is quite expensive and will cost around 40€ for 2 people.

You hear about it, and for good reason. It’s a classic and worth the visit. There was a short line but we didn’t have to wait too long. We ordered an omelette and a traditional pancake with lemon and sugar. Delicious! The espresso was excellent. Cozy interior and helpful staff. A must if you’re visiting Amsterdam.

Oldest pancake shop in Amsterdam. The pancakes are delicious. Sometime there's long a long waiting period to be seated, so arrive keeping that in mind. The food is awesome, though a little pricey.

5 star Amsterdam Pancakes in the heart of the city! Old world charm from the moment you step in the door (you may need to duck your head under the adorable door). Amazing traditional Dutch Pancakes, both sweet, savory, and delicious!! We opted for the ham, cheese, and Canadian pancakes with the best French Onion soup I’ve had. The service was superb, fast and friendly. Would highly recommend this Amsterdam Pancakes place.

Huge variety of delicious pancakes. Sweet, savoury, simple or unique toppings. Portions were huge, arrive hungry. Staff was really kind, I was able to switch a topping. The place is really busy, we arrived before the opening time and there was already a huge line. Either arrive early or plan for a long waiting time. The place is a bit cold. But the food is worth the wait. We had the french (goat cheese, bacon, pine, thyme and honey) and the bacon and cheese (it was a bit burnt)

Amazing and delicious experience here! I ordered a savory pancake....bacon, cheese, and mushrooms and it was delicious! Very filling and tasty. Lots of bacon. It’s a decent portion. We also had bacon, cheese, and tomato omelet. That was very good also. Along with a children’s sweet omelette to finish off the meal. It was al very satisfying Very friendly staff here. Might come back! I highly recommend stopping by if you’re considering it!

Lovely place to eat. We ate out along the water. The Pancakes were warm and tasted great. We had one with chocolate sauce and powered sugar one improvement could be warm sauce. Second was a Pancake with peaches, icecream, whipped cream, and kirsch which added a twangy flavour.

My mom and I stopped in on a recent visit to the Netherlands. The wait staff quickly seated us. They were so friendly and everyone worked well together. The tea was good and the latte was served with a stroopwaffle… mmmm! The pancakes were absolutely massive. Our server recommended having the salty first then the savoury. We honestly could have just had one between us they were so big. The server was SOO appreciative of a tip. Coming from a North American culture where it’s expected versus seeing how appreciative the staff was for just a few euros was so refreshing. The place was recommended by locals and I would definitely return.

One of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. I wish i could remember our servers name but he gave us so many great recommendations in the city, and truly made our trip. The pancakes are to die for, amazing!

  • 4/5 George Y. 7 months ago on Google
Food was really nice and big. They have a wide selection of Dutch pancakes. I suggest sticking to the simple savory ones (these are the originals). The downside is that they don’t serve tap water (unlike most places in the Netherlands) if you don’t order any other drinks.

  • 4/5 Amy & Justin Cole Keller W. 2 years ago on Google
The place was fairly busy for being close to closing time. We didn’t know what to expect when we got there. It did take a moment to get seated and to get our order, but the waiter was super nice and informative. The menu has a lot of options. Almost too much. We wish breakfast would have been served all day, as the breakfast choices were more interesting. The food came out fairly quickly after ordering. We got the Dutch and the “Banana, Chocolate, and whip cream”, 2 of their top ordered items. They were big portions, so much, we couldn’t eat it all. It would have nice to have seen more bananas or more graham on the pancake, but good overall. Ice cream was delicious. A simple short stack of 3 fluffy pancakes with bacon for us Americans would have been good :) Overall, we thought it was a great experience and would recommend visiting.

I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, so having a sweet pancake early in the day wasn’t an option for me. Luckily, The Pancake Bakery had an extensive menu for both the sweet AND savory lovers. Paired nicely with a glass of mimosa, which wasn’t on the menu but the staff kindly made for us anyway. :)

  • 1/5 Simrit K. 2 years ago on Google
I am having to wait over an hour for food. Edit: I will update my review once the food comes and I can judge it for its taste. Edited: the food was substandard and lacklustre - the pancake had the consistency (and nearly the taste) of a dry omelette. I appreciate that there are times where the restaurant may get busy buy simply communicating this to customers would be more appreciated than letting them sit there unaware for 70 minutes.

  • 5/5 Khalid A. 1 year ago on Google
Dimly lighted and situated in a basement…the perfect place to dig in some sweet delicious pancakes. Beware that these pancakes are not like their American counterparts. They’re more like crepe, but they’re extremely tasty. Definitely recommend a visit, but beware that portions are huge..probably better to share one pancake.

  • 5/5 John H. 5 months ago on Google
Gorgeous meal. No booking, walk-in. Beautiful old building with lots of wooden beams and open kitchen, etc. Fantastic selection of sweet and savoury pancakes (among other things!). We had the French (brie, sun-dried tomatoes, Pine nuts and honey), the Dutch ( sweet, with strawberries, cream, cinnamon ice-cream and chocolate etc) and a ham/cheese/mushroom. Some people were sharing one pancake which is understandable depending on your level of hunger. Also had 4 large pilsners and a hot chocolate. Total cost was about €80.

Awesome place for some Dutch pancakes! Visited around noon during the week and did not have to wait to get seated upon arrival. From looking at the menu, there is an abundance of options from savory to sweet so there is no doubt that there is something for everyone! The dishes are huge and could very well be shared. I would definitely come back again!

  • 5/5 Marija R. 7 months ago on Google
Very tasty Dutch pancakes, we tried only the savoury ones, they were delicious. They matched great with selection of Belgian and Dutch beers which the restaurant offers. The place is located on the bank of one of the canals, in a very nice building, we were fortunate that the weather was good and we could find table outside.

  • 4/5 Chutimun N. 1 year ago on Google
Went early at 9.30 on weekday and there was no queue. The portion is quiet big if you think of dropping by for breakfast. Services are attentive. The sweet pancake is a bit too sweet for me but that’s only my preference.

  • 4/5 Vivian W. 7 months ago on Google
We had only a short wait to get a seat which was lucky as we came during off peak, ~3pm. Service unfortunately was very slow, having to wait over 30min for our pancakes. We enjoyed the bacon and cheese combination and added in pineapple and apple for an extra cost. Prices are similar to what can be expected at other pancake restaurants and staff are very friendly. Decor and restaurant atmosphere is a bit dated with bathrooms only located upstairs (not wheelchair accessible) but still worth a visit when visiting Amsterdam. This restaurant is more catered towards tourists with seating predominantly for groups of 4

  • 5/5 Karen L. 8 months ago on Google
The food is delicious and the service was great. We didn’t have to wait too long for our food. The bathroom was really clean. We got in without making a prior reservation but when we were done, there was a line outside, so maybe a reservation would be a good idea.

We ordered Dutch pancakes, it’s very sweet. We also ordered a savoury flavour called Mexican, which made by chicken, onion and mushroom. It’s a bit pricy than I expected. The venue was very dark. We waited for a while to be served. The restaurant is very busy.

Wow... Just wow! Watched a video online saying this place was the best.. we went to Pancakes Amsterdam also and another Pancake hut next to a park closer to Albert Cuyp Market. This was a close call between them all but Pancake Bakery takes the crown, very clean and cosy inside. Words don't do the food justice, please pop in if you're staying for a few days you won't be disappointed! (Translated by Google) For the uninitiated, this is the "Dutch-style" pancake, which is much more like an omelette despite the fact that it is called pancake. The portions are generous and satiating, especially if you take it very stuffed like the one I got with eggs and bacon. I recommend it for those who want to try something new than the traditional pancake, however I still prefer the American one.

One of the old original pancake bakeries. The quality is indeed outstanding and way different from the average pancake! They offer different kinds of, from salty to sweet, including seasonal options. We loved them all! The downsides are that there will be probably a long waiting time, the waitress are busy and therefore the service is not very friendly and efficient, and also a bit expensive for a pancake. Anyway, it's a one time experience that I strongly recommend when in Amsterdam!

  • 5/5 Tristan S. 5 years ago on Google
All around a wonderful experience. It’s a cozy place which despite the close proximity to others isn’t loud nor does it feel cramped. The food was amazing. In particular I loved my pancake with bacon, cheese and apples. The apples subtle sweetness and the bacons saltiness complimented each other nicely. Additionally, the staff were friendly and attentive.

This place did not disappoint. You always don’t even noticed as you’re walking down the street; however, once inside it has great ambiance. You step down into a long, narrow and dim lit space. It was so warm and inviting. The Dutch pancakes are HUGE! Definitely enough to share; however, we didn’t know that until we ordered and got our food. My husband got an omelette and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. You’ll need to ask for your ticket as they’ll just leave you be for a very long time.

We went there everyday during our stay in Amsterdam. It is a must go and definitely our favourite place to have a lunch or dinner.
