One of the best burgers I've had. Get the simple smash burger "magnificent seven" and you won't be disappointed. The chipotle ketchup and mustard go so well with the crispy beef patties and melted cheese. We also got the chili cheese burger and while good it didn't come close to the heights reached by the smash burger. We'll come back every time we're in Amsterdam.

I've had well more than a thousand burger in my life, and the beef chief is among the 2 best burger places I've ever tried, and they make the best smashed burgers by far!!! Tried it first time from their food truck in a festival in Antwerp, and now 3 years later I finally go to their place in Amsterdam and it was every bit as amazing as I remember. They share a nice venue with a local brewery, so it just cannot get any better. Don't think twice!

The bar is an industrial warehouse style place with folding tables and bench seats dotted around. The music inside is loud to the point that you really can not conduct a conversation without shouting. Think nightclub loud. Outside is quieter, and there is plenty of seating but only worthwhile during the warmer months. In October, it's already too windy and cool to be comfortable for long. Service on Friday at 6.30pm was fast and friendly. Bar staff set expectations by informing us that food could take 30-40 minutes. In fact, our wait was less than 15 minutes. Now, the burgers are tasty but badly constructed. Yes, a good burger is often sloppy and messy to eat, but theirs is way too messy! The burger bun and the wrapping paper had completely disintegrated by the time we got it to the table! It was impossible to pick up without the patty and fillings sliding out! The bun is so soft and soggy that your fingers just rip through it just by holding it. They should take a leaf from Five Guys and wrap it in foil as this will allow for holding the burger while eating it. They should also look at finding a bun with a little more integrity or reducing the amount of sauce as the bun was like tasty soggy cardboard falling apart. Second issue is that the patty, sauce and cheese are very tasty, but it need some lettuce or something to provide some textural contrast. My daughter said the burger was tasty but her taste buds got bored as it was like eating a liquefied homogenous burger where every bite tasted the same with no contrast in taste or texture. We ordered two magnificent and one kimchi burger, fries and chicken wings and 4 soft drinks total, including 10% tip was €76. The fries are crunchy but a little over salted. The chicken wings are actually very good but the blue cheese dip wasn't flavourful enough and tasted a little meh! They also need to change the sink in the men's toilet. It is so small that when people wash their hands, water just sprays all over the floor, making it look like the toilet floor is flooded.

A small hole in the wall burger place hidden in oedipus brewery. It is an excellent burger which you can enjoy whilst drinking a nice refreshening crisp pint of beer. Their fries were crispy as well and I surely will be back to try out their other burgers.

Amazing burgers, fries and chicken wings. Loved the beer as well. I guess, I experienced the busiest part of the day on Sunday but the poor waitresses really needed some help and could not manage the amount of orders and drinks

Burgers very good but pricey. Fries weren't so good. a little to salty and a little to dry and well done.

Great burger, although I don't think Kimchi works very well on a burger because of the texture. But the flavor was nice and not too spicy. The bun wasn't toasted which is disappointing, not only because the bun needs to be toasted to make a perfect burger, but they straight up list "toasted bun" as the ingredient on the menu. But pretty good.

I don't mind waiting for an order for 20 or even 30 minutes. But my friend and I waited for a burger and fries for an hour and still didn't get it. I had an appointment, and I had to leave. It was just a waste of our time. A lot of orders is not an excuse. If you have many tables, you should have enough staff to serve them.

Everytime I eat a Beef Chief burger it’s amazing. There aren’t a lot of places in Amsterdam where you can get a smash burger and nailing it like them. Fries are spiced and cooked well (big portion!) the location is industrial (very Noord-like) and you order and pay at the bar. They share the spot with Oedipus so you can enjoy a lot of “special” beers and drinks. The place is perfect for groups and very casual(can be loud at times so keep in mind)

Burger and loaded fries heaven. Very consistent quality, although I've had my best burgers there on a weeknight. Good beers as well!

Love the burgers! Especially the kimchi burger. What makes it even better is that you're ordering good beers on tap from Oedipus

The food was amazing. The burgers were really good and they have a nice selection of fries. The beer selection is amazing too. However, the music was too loud (more like club music than „have a relaxed dinner) and if you are two people, good luck finding a spot. Reservations can only be made if you are a group and the place was full on a friday evening. Spots around the entry are also quite cold as they don‘t close the door.

We came in on saturday afternoon, soaking wet from the heavy rain and the place was not crowded but have a nice gezellig vibe. We ordered the kimchi burger and the other fries with homemade chilli on top which were immaculate. Meat is perfectly cooked & smoky, the kimchi adds the perfect kick to it. Our favorite is actually the double cooked fries which was delicious. Everything all together is 10/10 + the lady at service is very nice & helpful.

Really tasty burgers, I heard they sometimes change the menu. Unfortunately, when I ate there they had just one burger which did not contain anything spicy and that limited the options a lot.

The waiting time was too much.. me and my friends waited 30 minutes to order drinks then another 20 to order food… the food came 40 minutes later. The fries were really salty but the burger was great. It wasn’t that busy and we also weren’t told it would take a long time. Kinda disappointed sorry.

Out of food with a reservation. Visited Oedipus end of November. I had reserved a table for 5 people at 5PM. We arrive at 5.15PM along with a friends baby. We try to order food an hour after some beers. We get a "we don't have any buzzers" excuse, we wait for 30 mins more and then we get a "we're out of food", after waiting for and hour and 45 mins and getting fairly impatient, the lady at the counter says I'll check with the kitchen and now magically there IS food (without taking our order..) BUT now we along with a baby have to wait for an hour and a half MORE!. We left of course. Several customers after us got their meals so this was just surprising to me. I've been to Oedipus 3 times before and loved every single visit, this was just horrendous service.

It's a good place, really amazing service and atmosphere, but the burger is small. I got 2 as one it a kid's size. the taste of each burger is really good so a good place for burger lovers. The best I've experienced in Amsterdam, but I been in better places around the world

This place serves up the most amazing burgers I've ever tasted! Each bite is a flavor explosion that leaves me craving for more. And the staff? They're an absolute delight - friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about their craft. The combination of mouthwatering burgers and the fantastic service makes this spot a true gem that I'll keep coming back to!

Dare I say it… this is the closest thing to an In-n-Out burger I’ve eaten. SUPER GOOD. I had the Fry Me A River burger and Cesar Salad. It’s not exactly the same as In-n-Out, but if they put thousand island dressing on it, made the patty a little more round, and added fresh tomatoes, it would be nearly identical to an Animal style cheeseburger. Also the Cesar Salad was DELICIOUS. I ordered delivery, so I can’t speak for the beer, service, or atmosphere. But if you’re looking for a great burger, this is the place!!

Had the magnificent seven beef burger and cool ruler chicken burger and both were delicious. The staff warned us before we ordered that it would be about a 40 minute wait and it was completely worth the wait! The perfect addition to the Oedipus brewery space.

Im crazy about burgers and I've tasted a lot of them. This is one of the better ones in the city, well cooked and flavoursome.

Great spot, located inside the Oedipus Brewery. The fry's were really crispy and they were not stingy with their topping. The burger was seasoned well and was very tasty. Totally recommend eating here and having some beers.

Loved this place!! Was my first time and it didn't disappoint even after all the times I was told to go. Smashed burgers were amazing. Crispy on the side and still SO MUCH JUICE!!! Staff was super friendly and the inside is super cool. You can also see where all the beer is made. Big stainless steel brewing barrils are placed almost in the middle of the restaurant. The place has an industrial feel to it but with a lot of color. I'm a fan and will be back!!!!!! 23 thumbs up

Great beers and even better burgers and fries. Beer of the week for 3€. See a lot of previous reviews on the wait times. The restaurant clearly picked this up as the processing time was clearly communicated to us before ordering. Also a lot has been written about the burgers and YES they are really good, so nothing to add there. One point of attention, sometimes we ordered beers at the bar and paid straight away, sometimes they were added to our bill, sometimes they took orders on our table…all the variations got confusing after some time. For the average customer, ordering at the table is most convenient isn’t it ;)

Excellent burger, one of the best in Amsterdam. The double smashed beef patties with cheese, and the light brioche bun are a marriage made in heaven. Cheese fries just escalate the pure joy. Worth it? Worth it.

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why. The staff were also very well-...
