Four star! Haha. The room was a "deluxe" (they really should look up the meaning) it had twin beds shoved together, with barely enough room to walk each side of the bed without knocking into it. One pillow & a tiny decorative cushion, the beds were really uncomfortable, tea-coffee station was ridiculous, no milk?! Awful tasting cheap coffee & no tea bags? & not replenished. But the worst part was the attitude of the receptionist, she was rude & unhelpful, obviously doesn't want to work there. They also took a payment from our account for any damages that may incur, fair enough, but it took over a week to get it back!! Do your research before falling for the lovely pics, the place is a dive & tiny. Oh & we upgraded from another hotel to this place, over 500 euro, for 3 nights stay. Don't bother.

Amazing food. Lovely and fresh. The restaurant was quite busy so there was abit of a wait for the food but worth the wait. Situated is a busy location so lots of people watching. We ate outside even though it was raining but the area is covered. We didn't stay in the hotel but I will do definitely on my next visit.

The room wasn’t cleaned, the bedsheets were not clean, I found hair and other residues inside the bed. The room smelled of cigarettes and the temperature in the room was freezing as they thermostat was off upon arrival, turns out the heating was broken. Since it was past midnight and most hotels in the area don’t take new reservations or didn’t have rooms available, I ended up changing myself the bedsheets that the staff member gave me. Absolutely horrific experience and an expensive room on top of it.

Underwear left from a previous guest in the room, bathroom was stinky with stained towels. The shower was leaking out, no way to close the door completely to prevent that. There was no plug in the room and very tiny space. The breakfast and dinner was overpriced and not tasty. I would not recommend this place.

Tiny rooms. Compact living. Frayed towels and absolutely nothing extra like e.g earplugs, slippers or the likes. Makeup residue on the pillows. Could not get hot water in the shower, only tepid. The shower was leaking all over the floor and the "rooms cleaned everyday" did not happen. Very good location if you're not looking for a quiet stay, but the four stars is really a joke.

Nothing royal about this place. Extra charges at check in, which are not displayed before booking anywhere. Rude African male staff in the evening. Furniture broken. Heating doesn’t work. Hallways are dirty and smelly, same with the elevator.

We were greeted by a warm welcome and seated straight away on a Friday Evening. We were offered inside or outside of which we opted to enjoy the nice view out front. We ordered Drinks first with a Starter (we had the bread and dips) We then ordered our main meals which came out well presented and piping hot. (Burrito Supreme & Piri Piri Chicken) The meals are reasonably priced and decent in portion size. Our server was really polite and friendly and didn’t make you feel pressured about anything. Definitely worth visiting if you’re looking for a good meal and nice environment.

There are a host of restaurants in Amsterdam that people should go to, Rain is not one of them!! Firstly, the restaurant had barely five other people and the waiter still seemed to take forever to give us menus and then take our orders. The food then proceeded to take 35mins to arrive. The food was disgusting- we sent back the nachos, which were presented very poorly. We asked for no bacon and instead were given no meat at all. When he eventually brought it back with the meat, it tasted unseasoned and disgusting. My friend asked why there was so little cheese and he said 'it's expensive'. The burrito was horrific. The most expensive meal we had in Amsterdam and definitely the worst one.

Sorry, but no sorry. Very bad customer service, the waiter wanted to take all of the plates in a single go so we had to watch him make a plates tower for 15 minutes, while he’s mashing our food remains with his bare hands. The burger was dry, the chicken was dry, the fries were lonely.

4 stars my A**! I paid €400 per night to get the most expensive, worst hotel experience everrr. Tiny reception (1desk), tiny rooms, tiny everything. Checking in took like 40 mins. I'm so passed off. It's more a HOSTEL tha a HOTEL.

The room should be possible to check in at 14:00, but at 15:00 the reception told me I need to wait for cleaning.

We only attended the restaurant but it was exceptional, the food , surroundings and service were absolutely the best I experienced in my 4 days in Amsterdam. If you get the chance I absolutely recommend a visit to this exceptional restaurant. The best onion rings I have had in my entire 58 years. Absolutely superb

My wife and I came here for a meal and were very pleased we chose this restaurant. The service was welcoming and the food was exceptional, so much so, we had to take pictures of it beforehand. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a wonderful meal in very comfortable and enjoyable surroundings.

First day in Amsterdam and landed here for lunch. Ordered a beef steak that came with a nice portion of fries and salad. The food was amazing and the fries were the best one I ever had. Kostas served our food and he was amazing and made our day. Relaxed and amazing environment. Highly recommended!!!

Location was perfect, you can walk around the city easily. Staff was helpful. Room was okey, if it has slippers and other personel stuff, would be better. Balcony room has a great view. 👌

My recent experience at the Royal Amsterdam Restaurant was truly exceptional. The ambiance was inviting, and the food was simply delicious. Marc, the manager, provided astonishing service that added a personal touch to the evening. From start to finish, it was a memorable dining experience that I highly recommend.

The whole hotel smelt like dirty toilets/sewage - the lift, the room and the restaurant. Very small room so a little disappointed as I don’t feel I got value for money. Aside from this, the location was good and everything we needed nearby. Reception staff and restaurant staff were pleasant.

The Service was really Bad! We waited 1h for our food to turn out cold and dry. The meat was cold and over cooked. The grilled corn was almost black and we had to return the burgers because it was not eatables. Just to bring a Bottle of water was apparently to much to ask. We had to ask multiple times… Very disappointed!

Amazing food, great service with lovely staff giving their recommendations. Lots of choices, came with a vegetarian and they were very happy with the choices available. Good prices and good value for the amount of food. Placed in a cute area by the square.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Royal Amsterdam Restaurant and I must say, it was an exceptional experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting and elegant, setting the perfect tone for the evening. The highlight of the visit was undoubtedly the astonishing service provided by Marc, the manager. His attention to detail and genuine care for every patron's experience was evident throughout the meal. Not only did he ensure that everything was running smoothly, but his warm and friendly demeanor added an extra touch of hospitality. As for the food, it was nothing short of delicious. Each dish was prepared to perfection, showcasing the culinary expertise of the kitchen. The flavors were balanced, the presentation impeccable, and the menu offered a wonderful variety that catered to various preferences. From appetizers to dessert, every course was a delight. Overall, my experience at the Royal Amsterdam Restaurant was exceptional. The combination of Marc's outstanding service and the delectable food made for a memorable evening. If you're seeking an elegant dining experience with top-notch service and mouthwatering cuisine, look no further than the Royal Amsterdam Restaurant.

The woooorst moment of my life ! Baaad restaurant, bad service, à « hamburger » without sauce, juste one little tomato, little salad. And … beef? What beef? We said about it, the answer ? « You didn’t ask for your sauce » but it never be asked!!!! A reaaaaally baaad restaurant. For French people that’s horrible. NEVER again !

the most overrated hotel in all Amsterdam, a terrible service the receptionist a bad treatment, the room for the money that costs very small, very poor quality beds and very bad soundproofing, not recommended despite the location

Room 302 was lovely and the walk in shower great. However the only electrical outlets were 2 by the sink, only had a wardrobe with 4 hangers for clothes, no shelves or drawers and there was only a bedside lamp on one side of the bed. Check in took a long time. The staff were friendly enough. Bed was comfy and the curtains were good at blocking out light.

Super compact room but actually had everything we needed - myself and 2 children. Location was fine (we were there during the week so didn’t hear any hen/stag parties), close to the tram and restaurants. The hotel breakfast was great and a very reasonable price. We were able to store food in the hotel fridge, and the stored our stroller as well.

The location of this hotel is amazing, the square has so much to offer from different restaurants and cafes to night life. It’s very central and walking distance from all sights. Really enjoyed the view from our balcony over the square. The restaurant of the hotel has some of the best steaks I’ve ever had. Definitely coming back here next time I’m in Amsterdam 👍

Tourists not welcomed! Orders wrong and delivered 45 minutes after ordering. Nevertheless, a lot of local people that ordered half an hour later than our group, got their food delivered first. I guess they don't like foreigners.

The seasoned rice gave me food poisoning, the service was weak and the rest of the food was nothing special either

Food was average but considering the price and the location it was okay value for money. What I did not like though was the attitude of the waitress.

Great location. Nice room. Could be cleaner and staff could be friendlier. Also had to leave all the cash we had with reception on arrival for a deposit which was unexpected. But location and room contributed to a great trip!

Place is very deceiving. There are deals outside that aren’t on the menu they give in the restraunt. The salmon came out black on top I complained and said this ain’t acceptable to have no apology or any discount on food as it wasn’t satisfactory. Found the place not accepting of tourists and trying to take advantage with prices. Salmon was €21.50 on its own no place I’ve been before does the sides separate with salmon it cost a lot in the end and wasn’t worth it.

Mmm, looks so much better in the pictures. Having said that everything you would want with a hotel in city centre is provided. With bar and restaurant. However as there is a lot of night life near by you can hear people at all hours from the square, also slamming doors when people come back to rooms in the early hours. Also the toilets in the restaurant were disgusting and smelt terrible. Won’t be coming back here!!

The restaurant has a poor service. It has a lot of staff but the time it takes to serve water is enormous. other orders coming out and my water on the counter for 20 minutes.

  • 2/5 Joaquim G. 5 months ago on Google
Review for the restaurant: the food was ok but a bit pricey. Could be four euros less. When I asked for a glass of water, I was given a small bottle of pretentious water that was obviously not for free. They want your money. I do not recommend places that treat their clients like this.

😐 It is a large, somewhat impersonal, completely unshaded and extremely noisy campsite (we were in the tented section).Noisy because there is a large multi-lane bridge nearby, which is still very busy at night.
