The steak that I ordered was decent and the service was awkward. We got there later in the evening but I'm hoping that if we had went earlier in the day, the service would have been better. Not sure. Wasn't a good first impression. And the food was really expensive so that made it a little weird. For that price, the presentation and food taste should be better.

The location for this place is very nice. The food is decent, however, it is a but overpriced for what you get. The service was very rude and bad, they had a bad attitude towards us there and where not friendly whatsoever.

Stopped in for dinner while on vacation. Cool old building with standard bar fare. We were excited to see fish and chips on the menu but unfortunately they were out! We had the calamari to start which was tasty. My wife had the lasagna, which was good although not particularly tomato-y. I had the steak which was perfectly cooked. Service was pleasant and food was quick to the table. All in all a very good experience!

This restaurant has one of the best spot with a nice view. However the perf/price is not at the top. I found it expensive and not well presented for a regular food lacking of taste. You discover extra cost a the end. Staff is nice and the deco too and quantity is well enough. But basically you can find better around if you want to eat.

Just stopped in for a quick Heineken with the wife. Very well maintained place. Stopped there during the day as we couldn't even get in past 21:00 it was that busy. Food menu looked great but didn't sample anything on this visit. Would pop by again for sure.

Stopped by this place thinking it was promising. Outside in the patio is a great atmosphere, but needless to say, it ends there. I ordered a draught Guinness and a mango mojito for the wife. Beer was bottled and the mojito tasted like mango, no alcohol. For 14€, better have some alcohol in there but she couldn’t taste it. As for the food, ordered the fish and chips. We got the food 3 min after ordering and it was horrible. Batter was burnt and the fish had absolutely o flavor. Fries were horrible also. And to top it off, the bill came and they gave us mints, or so I thought they were mints. It tasted like a cough drop and what do you know, that’s exactly what it was. Picture to prove it! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone unless they really want to be disappointed. It is way overpriced for the service and food you get! I gave it a one star because a half a star is not available to select.

It was my third visit to Grasshopper. The location and the ambience is very good. We both had the Angusburger with fries for €26. Which is unfortunately a lot for a hamburger with fries. My fries included cold fries from the old batch. I'm a chef myself and unfortunately I know it. Unfortunately, the service was the most disappointing point. Very unmotivated and listless. A pity!

Arrived for breakfast - waitress wasn't bothered about the seat she sat me in outside was being dripped on by the wet awning. Food was average, atmosphere wasn't as expected in Amsterdam - no smoking allowed at all

Beautifully old building. Classic bruin (brown) Amsterdam cafe. Amazing view from the windows. Friendly staff. Delicious food - beer and burgers were great! We really enjoyed our dinner and came again - it does matter! Super place not far from Central station, to taste Amsterdam evening - to have authentical dinner visit this place.

Atmosphere in the establishment is nice albeit a bit cliché with all the old Amsterdam photos. Food is tasty and service generally good. Not the cheapest place to go for dinner but you pay for the location as well.

Overpriced beer, but understandable due to its location. But the staffs NEVER COME TO THE DRINKING PLACE NEITHER TO TAKE AN ORDER OR TO CHECK OUT. I’ve seen people from several tables leaving this place because nobody came. I also waited for the staffs to come for a long time.

We were a group of four friends and were searching for somewhere to eat. We ended up in this place after checking out some reviews. The person who took our order had a sarcy behaviour towards us. We were asking questions as we didn’t know what exactly were the toppings in each dish. My friend didn’t like the chicken which was drooping with peanut sauce. She returned it and asked for the same chicken skewer without the sauce. As any good restaurant they should ask if we have any allergy’s but the server didn’t. I ordered the safe option of fish and chips which was ok in taste but could also feel the oil in my mouth when I was eating it. The Chicken was very chewy and hard and had no taste to it. On top it was very pricey. I wouldn’t go there again.

The view and food are excellent. However, the service was not so great. The waitress was not very friendly while explaining to us how to place the order. Then, she totally forgot our second drinks.

We turned without making a booking and there were a couple of tables spare, but booking would be advised. We had lasagne and sea bass, the food came nice and quick and the staff were on point for getting drinks. Really nice food and decent prices.

Visited on a Saturday evening for a drink at around 11pm. Looks great from the outside, with the green lights illuminating the building. However, the place had no atmosphere; it smelled of fish and chips, the service was rubbish, and so was the Heineken. Would have walked out had I been bothered to look for somewhere else.

The Grasshopper in Amsterdam is a cool spot! Great vibes, tasty food, and a laid-back atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for a meal or just a chill hangout, it’s a top pick. Plus, the central location makes it super convenient. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Relaxing and a beautiful view. Good meal options and a friendly staff. It's a must visit to just calmly sit at the corner of the canal, enjoy the view of the busy streets.

Best salad I've had in a looooong time!! With prawns and scallops. Delicious!! (18€) I asked for a Martini as an aperitif (5€) but the amount of Martini in the glass was so ridiculously small.

it was our first travel after the pandemic, it was a beautiful day and we decided to go here for lunch while visiting amsterdam with my child, actually we hesitated to enter because it was a bit crowded but nevertheless, we still went in after a few moments waiting. the view is wonderful, i experienced a delicious main course and helpful staff. too bad i couldn't finish the french fries because i was full. this is a great place to go, probably one of the best tourist attractions in amsterdam. thumbs up *****

The quality of the food is extremely disappointing. We had spare ribs which only BBQ flavour came through the sauce and the beef skewer with cumin was extremely small (1 skewer) and the totally out of flavour. Still the atmosphere and location is good. If you only go for drinks it’s better.

Stopped here for 2 drinks in the evening. Had a gin and then moved onto cocktails. Would recommend the mango mojito if you are a fan of mango otherwise the normal mojito was good as well. Prices are relative to the area. Staff were really friendly and there was a good atmosphere overall.

food was okay, service was terrible, out of 4 staff only 1 or 2 of them were basically doing everything while the others stood around aimlessly, especially the blonde haired girl who was rude towards me and my partner when we tried to ask for service. took 30 minutes just for the bill even though most staff were just stood there doing nothing. do not recommend.

I don't understand what happened there. We came (3 guys) hoping to eat some good food and enjoy the view on the water. The first waiter came and brought us beers. We said we also want to order food. He asked waiter no 2, who came and brought as the menu. Unfortunately, then he disappeared. We asked waiter no 1 what is going on and he called waiter no 3. But the third waiter never came. After 1 hour of waiting we paid for the beer and left the place. We went to Grizzly, which was nearby, and enjoyed delicious ribs over there. I don't recommend Grasshoper (or whatever it is called now), but I recommend Grizzly, which is just 100 metres away.

I came to the grasshopper for the first time after hearing about it from my parents when they came years before, it was apparently a really good smoking venue with tourists from around the world coming to visit however we came for food as it was my partners birthday and thought it would be one of the best places to go due to its previously great reputation. I was sadly very mistaken. We reserved a spot earlier that day but when we arrived we were just placed anywhere, we sat for 30 minutes before anyone asked for our order meanwhile staff were on there phones and not really attentive to anyone that was there and talking amongst themselves. We were given 2 lots of dirty cutlery and asked twice to change them. After receiving our orders a further 30 minutes later we were presented with a mediocre looking plate however I dived into the steak, all of us ordering medium rare, expecting to be bombarded by flavour but it just tasted like a bland slab of meat, absolutely ridiculous for the price. My friend who also ordered the same as me got a steak that was well over done, no red meat to be seen. After we finished our meal my friend was then eventually addressed about the steak after waiting a further 20 minutes to get any of the staffs attention. We waited another 30 minutes for the correct food to be cooked and brought to the table. After multiple complaints and literally everything going wrong I slightly expected to receive some compensation like a small discount but we were charged full price and I felt absolutely awful for my partner who just had a really stale pricey experience. I will not be going back to that venue unfortunately and highly discourage anyone else going there for a special occasion or comfort food. There is plenty of brilliant places in Amsterdam to go! Just don’t get bogged down by this tourist trap.

Lovely building. Friendly staff. Appeared to be more of a restaurant rather than a bar or pub. Heineken was crisp and cold. Reasonably priced at €7.50 for a large Heineken 🍺

The place is super beautiful. It has smoking area and a non smoking area. But it's hypocritical the fact that one table is smoking and the next is not, while you are outdoors. If you are outdoors, I am not seeing the point of separating smokers and non smokers. The drinks were fine, except something strange. You order Jack Daniels and they assume you want it with Coca Cola. You ask for a whiskey from the catalogue, like Jim Beam and they bring you separate Gin and Tonic water. Really funny.

I have nothing to say to the centrality and magnificent view of the place. It's really beautiful! We had so much fun with our friends the first night. Even the Croatian waiter who took care of us is very sweet and nice! We wanted to go again before we said goodbye to Amsterdam. But this time, other waiters took care of us. One male and one female. They were very rude. Service was also very bad. We were shocked. Go if you don't expect service. But if there is, I would say do not favor it.

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why.
