Location is top-notch and that’s what’s going to matter for most people. However, rooms are very cramped. I thought I walked into a closet by mistake when I first entered my cube. There is limited vertical space above the bed, so be careful not to bump your head. The limited space is well-appointed, though: Charging ports are thoughtfully placed, and I appreciated the ear plugs, tote bag, and other small goodies. Shared bathroom is not so great. The shower shelves were broken, so there wasn’t much space to put my clothes. The light is motion activated from the bathroom common area so be prepared for it to go dark if you’re the only one there in the shower. There’s also only one bathroom per floor, which is kind of annoying if your floor’s bathroom has drunk guests splayed on the ground. Luggage storage is offsite in a nearby shed and requires a staff to guide you over. Not a big deal most of the time, but rather inconveniently if it’s cold/rainy during your stay as it was during mine. Staff are friendly. Check-in/check-out is automated. Overall, I had a pretty decent experience here. Wish they had an option for a double-sized room and that the shower lights didn’t shut off automatically.

I had a wonderful experience at this facility. The hosts were welcoming and amazing. The washroom was kept clean and stocked with toiletries. The cubes were clean and bed are comfy. It’s located in the Center ville and within walking distance to everywhere. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here during my next visit to Amsterdam.

What a great stay! They couldn't make checking in and checking out more efficient. We were even able to check in pretty early for our reservation. The cube is so fun and quirky, the bed is super comfortable. I was most impressed with how clean and nice the bathrooms were and how quiet the cube was at night. I usually expect a little more noise in a hostel-like environment. It is so lovely it's almost hard to call it a hostel, as it feels more private and luxurious than most hostels I've stayed in. The staff at the bar downstairs was helpful and friendly. Would book again without hesitation.

I could not have chosen a better spot for a female solo traveler. It is in the center of everything, close to the rail station and a bunch of cool restaurant shops! The hotel itself is a vibe, nicely decorated with a cool theme. Attached on the main floor is a wonderful cafe/Resturant. The morning coffee is free for guest of the hotel and it is well made. All the ladies that work the bar are so friendly and kind. I will recommend this place to my travel group and would definitely stay here again!

Great location! Decent prices for a last minute room for one. Clean place, good bed, and very nice showers. Overall very good place to stay as a male teenager. I don't know if would recommend for a female teenager, its very close to some shady neighborhoods.

Great value, great location, unique rooms, lovely, shared bathrooms. Would highly recommend. Lovely, modern and clean shared bathrooms. Rooms were fun. space for 1 personal standing up, colour changing lights, plugs next to your bed. can't fault them. If you were a big person you might struggle. Staff could have had more of a smile on their faces and the maids a bit nicer, but hayho. Location is on a good strip of road with loads of shops, 2 streets from the red-light and many cafes and food shops. And the free coffee you get before 11 is actually lovely coffee.

Extremely clean room, cannot make a single complaint. Very small but if you're only there to sleep, then it doesn't matter. Bar downstairs is gorgeous and the location is so central, everything you could want to do in the city is easily walkable. The shared bathrooms are extremely clean & well stocked of soap and towels. The showers are lovely.

This Hostel is located in a great area - very convenient to walk, bike, and boat around from! The rooms themselves are basically smaller than broom closets, but they are clean and adequate. I wasn’t impressed that our room was double booked (we arrived at 1am to check in and had to wait about two hours to get the issue resolved and finally get a bed). So while the technical issues could use a lot of work, the way the staff handled everything was friendly and courteous overall.

I am definitely staying here again. Cheap price, has a good location, and is extremely easy to check in and out. You can choose by yourself which floor and room you wish for. 90% self-service. Have an elevator, a little slow to get, but at least you don't have to get your luggage by stairs The bathroom is very clean, big and new with wonderful views

Very convenient, clean and friendly helpful staff. Was booked for us by a "young" person so didn't realise that climbing up into a bed at our age could be an issue ( changed to a crawl into option instead) and shared unisex bathrooms for those who go several times during the night not great either but if these aren't an issue for you then perfect. Great location

This hotel is perfect for young people or adults going to Amsterdam, it‘s in very close to the train station and the staff is very nice and helpful, I locked myself out of the room multiple times and they were nice and opened up again without saying a word. There is free coffee in the morning, a restaurant and bar and access to all Amsterdam easily. Will 100% book again. The price is really affortable witch makes it perfect for younger folks.

We stayed here for a weekend and it was great! Check in was super fast and very clever (same for checking out) it was flawless and very fast. The staff were very friendly on reception and always happy to help. They give you free water if you ask for it in the main bar downstairs. The toilets were always kept stocked with towels and clean, the only downside was the doors between the rooms for the bathrooms were extremely loud when slamming which effected sleep slightly as we had some neighbours who were out late but apart from that, comfy beds, very cool little pods. We would defo stay again!

Very innovative, loved the experience. Rooms are in a cubicle form (expect tiny space but 100% accurate to their description !). Felt very comfortable there. The bathroom is very clean, towels and soaps provided, and there's music playing while you're getting ready. Staff is very nice and helpful :)

Stayed during January 2022 when lockdown was lifted a day - hence the hostel was at very low capacity. I had an upper capsule without window. The room was small but clean with comfortable bed & pillows (reminder: not for big luggages). Your head hits the ceiling. When it's full house, I can imagine how noisy it can be as you hear all the bedroom and hallway doors - suggest soft close installation, as well as people walking by and talking clearly. The shared bathroom was clean and beautifully designed. However, the light went off during shower because there was no movement detected, it was night and it was completely dark. This hostel smells amazing with Marie-Stella products. The mirror basin was an issue to flush mouth for teeth brushing as the deck is so low you had to bow. Please change more powerful hair dryers. Staffs were friendly and amazing. The location is near Amsterdam Centraal, red light district and an asian supermarket Dun Yong. Guests can enjoy free cappucino, coffee and tea. The check-in is casually set up with a laptop on a bar. This hostel has a restaurant where both share the same entrance and some area (lift). A shame that I did not get a refund upon one last night cancellation due to covid. Hence, I will not return during my regular visit in AMS.

The staff is AMAZING, and as expected the rooms are small but really nice ! The bathroom are perfectly clean ( with always new and clean towels) and the different products (soaps, tea...) are high quality product! We recommend it 100%

The staff was lovely, everything was clean, the rooms are small but ok. Bathrooms very pretty. But we were in a room next to the doors and couldn't sleep a minute in two nights. The doors are banging non stop and you can hear everything in the rooms since the walls seem to be very thin. The hostel is however the best I have stayed in. It's a very good idea and the staff was very very friendly.

Great stay! Highly recommended for one night, maybe two if you’re not planning on spending much time in the room. Comfortable bed, nice linens but Rooms are very small. Adequate space for storage of Luggage. Bathroom was surprisingly nice. Free towels, hair dryers, shampoo, body wash. Super convenient location, just a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal train station. We didn’t spend any time at the bar, but it looked very happening. 5 Stars overall

This hotel is a really nice place to stay at, of course it's better if you are not claustrophobic. But as a person a little bit uncomfortable in small place it went perfectly fine. We had a down cube and it was great to have a space to stand. The bathroom are clean and the staff is nice. The check out and check in are extremely easy. The location is good and we where never disturbed. It's in the city center and tram and trainstation are next to it. Really nice place to stay, especially for the price.

We were so excited for our stay at This Hostel in Amsterdam, with the idea of staying in a cube feeling like a real novelty. Unfortunately, This Hostel let us down in a lot of ways. Namely, we had issues with staff members being incredibly loud each morning outside our cube. Moreover, on our last night we were awoken by yelling and laughing staff members outside our door after midnight. The noise was so loud that we had to get up and ask them to be quiet. The amount of noise being made by staff members was really disappointing and frankly felt disrespectful. Moreover, the door handle to our cube was broken making it really hard to enter and exit. Upon alerting a staff member of this issue, we were assured that the door would be fixed but this never happened over our 5 night stay. Not only did this issue cause us difficulty entering and exiting our cube but made us feel unsafe. As well as this, the cube was unbearably hot and there was no way to adjust the temperature ourselves. All of this combined, with such small space in the cube, the dodgy area that the hostel is located in and the messy shared bathrooms (often due to carelessness from other guests) just doesn’t make This Hostel worth it. Would recommend staying somewhere further away from the station for a more pleasant stay.

Perfect location right next to central station. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean and tidy and the free tea and coffee in the mornings were a life saver. Shout out to Melissa who gave us tea after a long train ride even though it was after hours. All the staff are lovely. Would highly recommend :)

Nice hostel. Clean and modern. Cube rooms where we were staying: small with a high bed (4 steps to get into the bed. Shared bathrooms and showers. But the location is perfect and the price is right!@

I had a fantastic stay at this wonderful hotel in the heart of Amsterdam. The location couldn't have been more convenient; everything I wanted to explore was just a stone's throw away. What truly set this place apart, however, was the exceptional staff, with Melissa leading the way. Her friendly and welcoming demeanor made me feel right at home, and she consistently provided me with invaluable tips and recommendations to make the most of my time in the city. A big thank you to Melissa and the entire team for making my Amsterdam experience truly memorable.

This place was really nice! Although the prices weren't cheap, I don't think you could find this level of quality with this location for any less. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and I was surprised by how comfortable the mattress was. Our room was a bottom unit on the first floor and had a fair bit of bass coming up from the music in the restaurant early in the evening, but it didn't last for very long. The rest of the night was really quiet and cozy. We appreciated the free luggage storage, easy check-in/check-out, and the amazingly convenient location (a 3 minute walk across the plaza to Amsterdam Centraal train station). I think the small capsule size might be difficult for those staying many nights (I could probably do 3-4 max) or those wanting to spend more time in their room vs. being outside. That said, I'd happily stay here again for another few nights again in the future.

For the price, it is the best hostel my wife and I have been in Europe so far. Their concept of cubicles instead of sharing a whole room with strangers is perfect for couples and friends! The bathroom was spacious and during the week it was always cleaned. They also offer a paid voucher for one of the best pancake places in town for a very good price. It will definitely be our home whenever we go to Amsterdam!

The HO(S)TEL was quite good, it's the best capsule hotel I have stayed in so far, and their design is quite good. The products available in the bathrooms were quite nice, better than many 5 star hotels I have tried. Also it's possible to do your entire stay without having to interact with a human which is quite nice, the staff are quite friendly and nice to interact with if you do choose to interact with them.

The location is in the red light district. For me it isn't a problem. I like the diversity of nationalities. The staff is very friendly. Always willing to assist you. The bathroom is clean. The have now a restaurant re opened. I need to take time to have dinner there but unfortunately i haven't made time yet. I will certainly do. For me alone the place is perfect. Keep up the good work. See you next time. Cheers! Have fun in business.

really loved staying here! although it is marketed as a hostel, it has very luxurious vibes and the rooms are good as well. love the concept of the cube rooms so that we get privacy. the bathroom is also very clean and well-furnished, and absolutely loved how there are clean/fresh towels in the bathroom so that you can change your towel everytime you shower, very rare since i came from previous hostels in other parts of europe where i had to rent it and pay extra money for the towel 😂 the location is amazing, walking distance from all the main attractions and very safe as well. 10/10 recommend this place when you visit amsterdam :)

  • 3/5 Jamie W. 6 months ago on Google
£200 a night is steep and not in line with other options on offer over the weekend. The location is as good as it gets and thats a big plus. Staff are excellent. If you nail this place at a reasonable price go for it. If you are dropping £200 a night like i did you are heavily over paying and will be looking forward to the actual hotel room you booked.

  • 4/5 Hazel I. 5 months ago on Google
I enjoyed the location as the hostel is a 5-minute walk from the central station and the red light district. The self-check-in process was smooth, but there was an issue with the key cards, preventing me and another couple from accessing our rooms. The helpful night staff made several attempts to fix the problem, and it was resolved within an hour. The shared bathroom was acceptable, though the sinks drained so slowly that I thought they were blocked. During check-out, I was informed that the luggage storage in a different building was closed due to pest issues, requiring me to carry my small luggage until my evening departure.

Great stay! Highly recommend for one night, maybe two if you’re not planning on spending much time in the room. Comfortable queen/double-sized bed, nice linens. Rooms are *very* small but that was clear from the booking. Enough space for two adults to stand. Adequate space for storage of bags. Bathroom was surprisingly nice. Free towels, hair dryers, shampoo, body wash. The canal-side room was worth the upgrade. Super convenient location, just a short walk from Amsterdam Centraal train station. Right in the middle of the action. We didn’t spend any time at the bar, but it looked nice.

  • 5/5 Jordan M. 1 year ago on Google
We had a great stay here. Whilst in the hustle and bustle of the red light district and surrounding area it was a joyful experience nonetheless. Would recommend this hotel to anyone. Don't expect much space in the cubes, but just enough for what you need for a trip to Amsterdam.

  • 5/5 A H. 2 years ago on Google
Highly recommend, the staff couldn’t have been nicer from checking in to checking out, the facilities where spotless. Restaurant and bar downstairs was brilliant as well, great music and vibe. Location couldn’t have been better as well, literally a stone throw away from central station 👌

Lovely atmosphere with incredibly pleasant and helpful staff. Located very close to the train station which is convenient for travel. The rooms are very small, but not different from what’s advertised. Bathrooms are kept very clean with plenty of shower stalls. Not too noisy, nothing more than you would expect in an apartment or dorm. Stairs may seem steep to some but there is an elevator. Overall a fantastic experience, would absolutely stay here again.

I booked a room in Durty Nelly, but was upgraded to here and thankfully I felt lucky to have the upgrade. The stay was very pleasant, the staff was top! Tea + coffee + hot water were provided for free. The staff was also kind enough to let me stay on the hammock at the front of the restaurant at night, the view was amazing! The designing is modern but still very cozy. I really recommend staying here.

For sure on of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed at. Plus very central and for what you get pretty cheap. The rooms (in case you get the upper beds) is a little tiny with 2 people plus luggage. But bathrooms are fantastic, stuff is friendly, free tea and coffee - best deal ever!

Best 'hostel' ever. It is the upscale version of a hostel. Many showers, very clean, with luxury towels, body products... I would recommend you to stay there.

Very clean and well kept hostel. The community bathrooms are very modern and clean. The hostel is in a perfect location next to everything. Best hostel experience I could've asked for. I've had bad luck choosing accommodations and never stayed at a hostel before so when I chose This Ho(s)tel I was naturally nervous. They are cube style rooms which may not be suitable for anyone over 6'1 or 6'2. I stayed for over a week and had plenty of luggage so manuvering inside the room with all my stuff took me a couple days getting used to. Everything is maintained so well. From the rooms to the public bathrooms to the lobby/bar it is all exceptionally clean. The bed was also very comfortable and had no trouble sleeping. The staff is incredibly friendly and nice. Due to covid they cannot offer breakfast (I booked on Agoda which stated otherwise) but they do serve free coffee or tea to the guests. There is also a restaurant on the main floor which I didn't get the chance to try but everyone recommended it. The location of the hostel is also great, located just a 5 minute walk from Centraal station. I can't say enough good things about this place and would recommend it to anyone. It is also very affordable. Whenever I come back to Amsterdam, I know exactly where I'm staying!

Small space but a lot of room for storage! Bathrooms are so clean and there’s always towels ready. It smells amazing all over the place as well! The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend for budget travellers!!

We was on ground zero, pods very small, but suitable for a short break. Do not expect any sleep though, doors slamming, people talking and marching up and down the stairs all through the night. Amazing location, and very clean rooms. On entry we was told free water then when we asked for one the lady charged us 3 euros. Apparently the rules had changed over night. Oh and apparently not knowing my email address password is breaking the law. Staff pretty dismal.

  • 5/5 Josip B. 2 years ago on Google
The most incredible staff! The entire hostel is definitely a memorable experience, and although I wouldn't recommend sharing a 'cube' with a friend, it won't ruin the experience, although it does get a little tight. The bar downstairs is gorgeous, the bathrooms beautiful, and the walls nowhere near as this as I expected, not to mention the location is perfect for any party-fan of Amsterdam.

We had an epic stay at This Ho(s)tel! After hostelling it for weeks in Europe, we considered our capsule to be a five star hotel room in comparison. We really really loved our little pod! Yes, it wasn't the most spacious, but it was clean, it was quiet, and it was private! The shared bathrooms were fully equipped with amenities (soap, lotion, towels, etc.) which was very convenient. There were a couple of occasions where the toilets were out of toilet paper, but this was restored promptly upon notification. Absolutely loved the endless free bottles of water from the bar!! Staff members were always eager to please and the atmosphere was awesome. Could not have asked for better located accommodation. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Being one of the cheapest hotel in the area it's still a very good experience! Bedrooms are super clean, beds are really comfy, nice sheets as well. The collective bathrooms are clean as well, it seems to be well maintained over the whole day. Check in and check out is easy as you can do it by yourself on tablets. People working here were welcoming and gave me some advices as well so it was nice 🤗 overall I recommend for a one night stay (or more if you only sleep here)

We chose this hotel, because it was the cheapest one in the area. Location wise, it is okay. Near to many food locations, the 9 streets and Anne Frank house. It invites for walking around the city which is the best way to travel around here. There were no breakfast options, but that is fine. Free water and coffee + tea before 12:00h. Beds are comfortable, small rooms but not disturbingly. The concept is perfect for all ages. And best of all, was the kindness of the people working there!

The best hostel to stay for a very good price and the location is perfect. It’s just 2-3 minutes walk from the station. The hostel is very neat and the common bathrooms are very clean. The lights in the room are crazy. Loved the hostel. They have free coffee in the mornings You can keep your luggage there if you’re early and it’s a self check in so you can choose your own room

Very nice and affordable accommodation. Room and shared bathroom were clean and modern. Room was quite hot, but during check-out it turned out that in one section the ac was not working. They apologized and got it fixed next morning. Still, i think it was tolerable to sleep for one night and didn't ask for a new room. In the lobby they serve all kind of coffees for free. I can recommend!

Kinda like this place. Traveling with a tight budget makes you don’t have many options. With this perfect location, the size of the cube is alright. It’s small, but acceptable. The bathroom and toilet is clean, and the WiFi is fast and stable. The staff is so kind and not to mention the perfect morning coffee. Love it!

During my 3-month stay at the hostel, I had a positive experience. The reception was helpful, and room changes were easily accommodated. The staff, including Martha and Melisa, were exceptionally friendly. Nimmi Sharma from housekeeping was very helpful, and the cleanliness, particularly in the bathrooms, was excellent. Overall, it was a comfortable and welcoming stay.
