Some beautiful small plates & a very fine selection of wine 🍷 The staff seem to be a proper crew who care about each other. It brings a really good vibe along with their professionalism and skill. I had the ribs - they were ok… I had hoped for more meat and much less fat - the fault is mine - my selection wasn’t to my taste. Many would have loved the crispy skin and thick textured fat.

It’s difficult to find a place that is more than a bar, but not quite a restaurant. A place that feels casual enough you can enjoy your drink but also have good food. I can probably only think of one or two other spots in Auckland that achieve this and it’s a pleasure to have Beau in that category. The service was excellent, wine selection is great and the food was good too. The lamb ribs were a bit too far on the fatty side for me but it’s a minor observation, and the Brussels sprouts were insanely good.

Always great and friendly service! Great spot for dinner, lunch, a snack and of course a wine or a cocktail. Would recommend getting a booking, but they are always very accommodating. The Freaky Fried Chicken is 10/10 with the olives

Highlight of Beau was the sourdough bread, would definitely come back for this. Also shared the eggplant labneh and roasted cauliflower, both really well made. And 5/5 for having a better non alcoholic menu than other restaurants, I had the Aperol spritz. A semi hidden gem for sure.

Chicken liver parfait on toasted baguette was tasteless and the bread over cooked and hsrd. Definitely not worth $21. Nice atmosphere and staff.

We had lamb ribs, broccolini and the fish of the day, the food were absolutely beautiful! I would go back and try other dishes. It’s a dog friendly little restaurant so be ready there is a dog running under your table and starring at your lamb.

Managed to get the last table walk-in on a Friday evening. Great food. Recommend the oysters, lamb ribs, and the cauliflower.

Great selection of wines and funky yet tasty cocktails, tasty food and great to share. Great spot to grab a drink and bites at wine o clock, Such a hidden gem in Ponsonby. Must try their truffle Brie & spiced almond ❤️

Great lil wine bar with amazing service and drinks! Their espresso martini is 👌🏻. Didn't have any wine but was given a sample of the orange wine to try. Was delish! Will be back for full glass. Food was AMAZING. Not a fan of broccoli but it's growing on me and theirs was so good. So is the trevally ceviche and their fried chicken!

Perfect date night or girls night spot. Great food and service. Had a lot of gluten free options - a whole menu specific for my dietary needs! We definitely would come back here 🤍 thank you to everyone there yesterday who made it such a delicious meal for our first night in Auckland!

Went there for lunch for two. When we booked, we chose to be sat at the upper floor with a view or at the courtyard but when we arrived we were about to be seated in the restaurant until we intervened. We were then led through to the courtyard through a cramped back-kitchen hallway. We were seated at a table that got rained on and had to move our cutlery to another table ourselves. The waiter was present as the rain was starting, but didn't do anything to move us. Water running onto the floor in the courtyard also made it uncomfortable to sit, especially on a bench, with shoes getting wet. We were told that the food was to share but the portions were far too small to share. The price for the small portions was also super unreasonable. We had two 'to share" mains along with a single drink and it came to $88! Was hoping after all of the inconveniences and shooing flies the entire time, the food would make it all better. However the beef tartare was quite average and the market fish, while fried to perfection, was ruined by the sauce and the other ingredients on the dish. The staff were friendly enough asking about the dishes but it was very difficult to communicate about the flavor of the food given so much was going wrong and the only thing we could say was that the fish was fried well. Overall, very disappointed and sad to see such high reviews leading to a very underwhelming experience.

"Wow! Apart from the delicious food that so yum, small plates and easy to share…the standout feature of this place is its fantastic staff. They are incredibly welcoming, efficient, and always ensure that both my friends and I, as well as any guests we bring along, feel right at home. Moreover, they exude a vibrant and appealing culture of their own, and their happiness is truly evident in their service." I've visited this place on multiple occasions, and every time has been consistently excellent. I highly recommend it, and it feels like a hidden gem! Whether you choose to sit at the bar, at the front of the restaurant, or in the more rustic and quieter back area, the setting is absolutely stunning. On clear nights, you even get a beautiful view of the Sky Tower. Awesome place for a casual night out or romantic first date

We had the most gorgeous lunch here for our anniversary. The staff were super friendly, helpful, and the food was better than some of the restaurants we'd eaten at in London and Europe (I've had my fair share of badly prepared octopus). All the ingredients tasted fresh and were well executed. We were too full to fit in dessert this time around, but nothing is stopping us from visiting again to try the sweet selection.

One of the best meals I had in Auckland and my favorite evening while vacationing there. The friendliest staff ever. Food was excellent. The octopus with puréed butter beans is my new favorite dish. Simply amazing. This is the must-have item. Get this with the warm sourdough. Arugula and fennel salad was good but I think I chose poorly. The pear in the salad didn’t work for me. Maybe it wasn’t ripe enough. Great wine list but I’d love to see more local wines by the glass. And maybe some local cheese options.

I've given an average star rating here, simply because I can not comment on my (our)dinning experience - because we were unable to commit to our booking as the birthday girl (who we were having the dinner for tested positive the day before the booking). Now I accept that there should be a cancellation fee given we had booked a table of 7 and yes it is in your T's and C's, however - there is no online option to put in some type of place holder so we could re-book when she was better - you simply have to cancel the booking (which you then get charged the cancellation fee - in my case $175) and then you get asked if you want to then re-book ..... I could have given you a 1 star rating- but the place generally looks like a great place to dine..... We just won't be dining there ..... expensive lesson learnt :(

Great food, no matter what you try. Lovely and friendly service. Totally worth the 5 stars. Place is small but the food and atmosphere makes up for it. Will be back.

I’d love to like Beau… I’ve been here 4 times with a work colleague and my wife. Whilst the food is good, the menu needs an upgrade and there are several issues with the property. Firstly the staff. They’re too young. They have no knowledge of service ethics and spend time -when they could be up selling the menu, giggling around the till. . This leads onto an experience that puts you by a table of shrieking hysterical young woman ( who asked to spilt the bill 4 ways - this results in added transactional fees Ex bank and is inefficient), and if they hadn’t left we would have. Plus when you’re disposing of empty bottles of wine and liquor- don’t throw them in a bin from a height. I am unaware of the target audience of Beau but from the number of staff on - a Sunday afternoon- they’d want to be at $10k for the day. The reality would be nowhere like that. I see a short tenure like 80% of Ponsonby restaurants. Shame because the chefs are obviously skilled and trying hard.

So impressed with the Beau team. I couldn’t make it to a friends birthday dinner and the team kindly helped me to organise a special dessert to be delivered to her while she was dining at their restaurant. They went above and beyond to make her feel special. Highly recommend Beau.

Lovely little spot with three intimate dining / drinking areas. The food was delicious and service pleasant. We had a set menu and sat upstairs as a larger group- and it was a great experience. It was hot upstairs, even when we opened the window, and the wait staff struggled to get between the large tables - maybe they should have had a spot for everyone to hang their jackets / bags to make it easier for them to get through? I’m pregnant with some additional dietaries, and they were so great at adapting the set menu to my needs and my food - as well as the group’s - was really yummy. Also some good non-alcoholic mocktails and options, and made me miss enjoying espresso martinis!! Only thing I would say is that for the group, maybe could have packed out the main meal a bit more / provided one more shared plate for the table. Certainly wasn’t left hungry, but absolutely everything was cleaned up! All in all, def recommend checking it out!

We have eaten our way through Auckland and Beau is at the top of our list! Super friendly staff, beautiful and cozy setting, amazing wine, and absolutely delicious meals. Highly recommend and we’ll be returning before our trip is up!

Wonderful experience at Beau. The friendliest staff paired with great food. Wines were interesting and memorable. When we didn't have time for dessert because we had to get home to the baby, the owner sent us off with a complimentary slice of cake to enjoy at home. What kindness!

We swung in early on a rainy Thursday for dinner. We enjoyed a delicious selection of local New Zealand Wines, yummy cheeses (the burrata was amazing), and the freaky friend chicken. Definitely recommend if you are after a nice glass of wine and some small plates. We didn't try their mains, but by the look of the other guests they were amazing as well.

Amazing cheese platters and cocktails. The place looks very unassuming on first glance. However, the food is amazing - well deserving of the high rating it gets in reviews.

What a pleasure to discover this cosy bistro-style restaurant! And it was a real bonus to discover that they are dog-friendly -particularly since we have a little dog called Beau who loves to go out with us. The food was great, the plate of charcuterie was a perfect start, then one main course with some fries was just enough. Great wine list too. Mainly I loved the super-friendly staff (and other guests even!); I really had the feeling that we could be in a local bistro in France. Will definitely return, soon I hope.
