Wow! We walked past a lot of cafes not knowing what we were feeling like and then stumbled upon this legend. It was perfection. The massive glass doors, the stunning set up, with a very earthy and warm ambience were too intriguing to miss. The food, the food, what in the actual heck!?! It was amazing! The use of quality ingredients and a good amount of it was very noticeable. The menu was fun and interesting. The coffee was smooth and divine. I have to come back to try the truffle mushrooms and the Turkish eggs. Next time!

We came by for dinner here as a celebration. We booked to make sure to get a table. The place isn't too hard to find on Lorne Street. The restaurant felt more like a hotel lobby than a restaurant due to its openness. We were seated by the bar which was nice. The menu is decently sized and they also have an interesting drink menu. We grabbed a few items to share. The lobster mac n cheese was amazing. It had a nice flavour and very luxurious. The duck liver creme brulee was also very moreish. The tuna tataki nicoise salad wasn't bad and the ceviche was also salad like. We did order the butchers cut but they didn't put it through. There was also a wrong wine order too. We were wanting to order dessert but there was no one around to do so, so we just left without it. The food is nice but the service was a bit of a let down as it meant we missed out on food.

Delicious food at a reasonable price. Definitely not a cheap eats. You get what you pay for with the lovely atmosphere and environment. We ordered the sourdough with truffle butter which is a must get!! The lobster Mac and cheese was okay, not enough lobster meat. The beetroot goat cheese salad was lovely. Their alcoholic cocktails are reasonable in price but both the ones we tried were a little weird in taste. Maybe too fancy for our taste buds but not what we’re used to. Not a sweet cocktail but still okay

Came here for brunch. Ordered crepes and croque madam. The food was good but the coffee was quite average for Auckland - machine needs calibration or something. Great service and groovy atmosphere. Will try again for dinner as it’s also a bar!

Found this place by accident walking down Lorne St. The decor is open plan urban retro. The main waitress who is French was a delight. So friendly and an asset to the place. Food was great, so tasty. We had the Sour Dough, Duck Liver Crème Brûlée, Butchers Cut steak & Ceviche (this raw fish was the best I have had). The servings are small (except for the steak). We wanted Oysters and unfortunately they did not have any to offer. The only thing I can fault is they need a wider selection of food for the dinner menu. But overall great experience and a good find.

Underseasoned, underwhelming and overpriced. Quite gutted about this place - it seemed so promising with such a lovely interior fit out, good coffee, and really lovely front of house staff. While the dishes visually looked great - except for the lettuce and carrot scenario next to the lobster mac n cheese (I mean seriously, if you're going to sell it at this price point - rocket or mesclun might be a better choice. Or at least don't serve your carrots grated like a Coffee Club lunch - no offense intended to Coffee Club) - everything was underseasoned, and so lacking in flavour! The truffle oil fries was the one dish done beautifully. Perfectly cooked fries, crisp outer, good aioli, and balanced flavours - often you get these fries and you get sick of it because it's too oily, or over done - but these were really good. Back to the lobster mac n cheese. We had such high hopes. But the macaroni was soft and squishy! And the cheese sauce bland. The lobster flavour didn't come through unless you had a mouthful with actual lobster. And that side salad scenario ... oh man. I imagine there are other ways of presenting lettuce and carrots without coming off as cheap. The other thing we had was the smoked kahawai croquettes. Honestly, where was the smoked fish? Smoked kahawai should be a strong enough flavour that I can taste it. That croquette felt like it was 90% potato, making the dish feel cheap. The outer crust was well cooked, but the potato and fish mix was really underseasoned and had no flavour. The sauce that went with this dish was quite nice, but the flavours weren't particularly bold. Overall, a really bland dish - we really needed a hero. Like if it was going to be mostly potato, then at least, let it be used as a vessel for scooping up a more flavourful sauce. At this stage, unlikely to go back for food. I do hope it was just a one-off and maybe the chefs were having a bad day - who knows? Could be a good place for drinks though.

The best place in Auckland to laze away a rainy day (of which there are a few). Start with coffee and then brunch your way through the menu until it’s time to have the first drink. Only drawback: no WiFi. So, bring a book …

A very nice and friendly French inspired bistro. We ordered the ceviche and smoked croquettes. Both were quite delicious, the ceviche refreshing blend of fresh fish, herbs, peppers, and so forth, and savory the smoked salmon croquettes were a nice pair. I think some of the food network reviews below maybe a bit overly critical. The pair of cocktails we ordered were refreshing, just what you need after a long flight. If you're used to American cocktails a topper may give it a kick. Overall good food, friendly staff, good atmosphere. Reminds me of my days in France.

Amazing gem in the heart of the central city . Coffee and food is fabulous and a great inner chic city interior combined with friendly service . One of the best kept inner city secret spots for brunch , lunch or dinner

Relaxed and perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Food menu was exciting and I got the Tuna Tatare Niçoise Salad and yummy sour dough with butter of the day to start

😐 Lovely atmosphere and great location for bottomless frose! We had a good time however left hungry… we are disappointed with the amount of food you get especially because in the past it was only $50 for bottomless froze AND a foot long pizza per person.
