👍👍 One of my favourite spots to stop in for a Friday lunch. Great pints on tap, lovely outdoor seating and fantastic chicken tacos 🌮 (soft shell). The staff is really lovely, they have nice bathrooms and play all the sports without bringing the lads-lads-lads sports bar vibes. It’s clean and fresh fee... One of my favourite spots to stop in for a Friday lunch. Great pints on tap, lovely outdoor seating and fantastic chicken tacos 🌮 (soft shell). The staff is really lovely, they have nice bathrooms and play all the sports without bringing the lads-lads-lads sports bar vibes. It’s clean and fresh feeling. The meals are a bit pricey but it’s worth it for a treat. Big fan of the Zeffer cider on tap 🍻

Great food, tastes high quality and very flavorful. Service is very good, waiters are quite attentive and friendly. Nothing to complain about here, they also have a good selection of beers.

Highly recommend. A great pub 1/2 way up College Hill (which I’ve never noticed before 😳) Great atmosphere and recently redecorated. I had pint of Emmerson’s Haze and Dazed with their Fish & Chips for lunch. A great meal, everything tasted great! I will be back.

I live 250m from the 'pub' and never would never go here. Prices are well overpriced for terrible food. Staff are always angry and act as though they are doing you a favor.

I decided to give The Cav a 2nd chance after visiting earlier in the year, and am pleased that I did. This time the food and service was a lot better than the previous time I visited (last time entree and main both brought out at the same time, and a few tables were having issues with orders being taken, getting water etc). Tonight even though busy, service was really good, no delays in orders, getting drinks etc. The pork belly bits starter was good - I would have again. The steak main was a bit closer to medium than medium rare as ordered, but was not bad, and still very eatable. The mash and onion rings were good. I probably would have had a desert, but the limited menu for desert did not have an item that appealed to me on this occasion.

My partner and I ordered fish chips, steak and arancini and gin, peach and rose gin is good, steak and fish are fine, arancini was good but salty, we like the onion rings as well.

I wanted to like this place, but everything was just okay. Service was very flat from the three staff that were there, didn’t seem like they wanted to be there at all. Food was fine but nothing special. Batter on the prawns was way too thick so the inside was like eating glue. Polenta fries were quite wet tasting, not crispy like you would hope. Everything lacked seasoning. The building and aesthetic is the best part. Probably wouldn’t come back in a hurry.

Lovely food and great view. Staff is superb and their beer is ice cold here. How could I say no?

Went tonite for hubby's birthday. Awesome 5* service. Great food. Good portions (we couldn't finish it all!). Yummy cocktails 😋 Can't fault it (apart from menu said ginger ice cream but we got vanilla. Feedback would be please let guests know if something has changed from the menu)

Don't really understand the high ratings for the food here. Went there at night and had basket of fries and pork belly bites. Fries were probably the worst I've every had at a bar. Looked like they were scrapped out of the bottom of the frier. Tasteless and too skinny and at $11 way over priced. Pork belly bites way too salty and again overpriced. Prices are above decent restaurant prices without the quality to match. And seriously guys why do you play music at such high volumes that you have to shout at the person next to you to have a conversation. Won't be back. Way better places out there.

The Cav has brought in a rule where they are not doing Jugs after 5. Really bad form. Other than that, a good experience, great manager

Superb pub. Gets busy at peak times (after work and weekends) but worth a booking if you need to. Staff are super friendly and professional. The food coming out of the kitchen is standard pub fare, but it's considered and high quality. For example, their polenta on the sharing platter is quite possibly the best polenta I've had in years. Take time to go here, a good time is guaranteed.

Called well in advance to book a table for the world cup final. The person who answered told me they weren't accepting any reservations and it was walk in only. Arrived with a group of 10, some from overseas, at 7am only to find all tables reserved. Was too late to find somewhere else by then. Very poor service experience.

Top lunch tucker, and plenty of it, for our bi-annual work reunion at The Cav. The staff are always friendly and take our photos for us... frankly nothing ever seems to be a hassle for them. See you mid May 2024 <3

Noy ovetly impressed. The staff seemed all very grumpy and short, maybe they were having a bad day but A little professionalism goes a long way. We we there for 1.5 hours were served about 5 rounds and never once did any of the staff Crack a smile. Plenty of other places to go where staff are bubbly and enjoy there work and make spending g your hard earned money a lovely experience.

We took our Border Collie and other family dog Alfie to celebrate a birthday last night. Staff couldn't have been more accommodating giving us a great table where the dogs were happy but out of the way as it was pretty busy with a Blues vs Highlanders game on. They brought fresh water and dog treats over and made a fuss of our boys. Great service. Enjoyed the night. 5 star woofs of approval from the fur babies!!

Love it. Friendly service and great selection of food and beer. The chicken schnitzel is good. The beer balcony/garden loses the sun just a tad too early for my liking but it's still a great place

Nice decor but can be very echo'ie so don't go if you need a chat - you'll be yelling at each other to hear. The deck is lovely if you can get a table.

A group of us booked a few days earlier for the NFL. The staff were extremely accommodating with getting us set up in a prime spot, along with having the commentary playing as well. Overall a great experience, tasty food and plenty of beer.

The food here was amazing! We had the prawns, chicken burger and a dessert. The seasoning on the mains and starters were really good and balanced! The chicken thigh in the burger was chrispy and juicy with just the right balance of flavours. Something that didn’t suit my tastes were the sauces, in my opinion the sauces were a little sour. Overall the vibe was good and the views were nice!

Wonderful experience. Staff is just excellent. Right from the security gentleman at the door who is so friendly and helpful to the waitresses at the bar and counter, they are just so lovely and welcoming. Even tho the place was packed the service was excellent and the food was exquisite. Try the chicken burger that was quite tasty. Will visit again for sure. On street Parking is available across the road so that's handy.

Nice pub, terrible food! Chicken tacos had supermarket packet chicken in it! Rest of the tables food was terrible too. Good for a drink but eat somewhere else

Strolled over for lunch in my work break and ordered the double beef truffle burger... It was way above expectations. Also it was a good size and I kinda struggled to finish it... But glad I did... Actually enjoyed the whole experience and will defs be back there in the near future... Also, there's a lot of gluten-free options for those that need it which was cool to see... Everything washed down well with a brew. GGs

We had a good time however left hungry… we are disappointed with the amount of food you get especially because in the past it was only $50 for bottomless froze AND a foot long pizza per person.
