Amazing place to hangout. Nice ambience and service. The highlight is $5.00 pizza during happy hours.

Went for the Christmas quiz night and was a fun night, the sangria we ordered was nice and the pizzas were good value and tasty. However where we were located on the ground floor by the door to the kitchen, everytime the back opened as staff came through there was a disgusting sewage-like smell which wafted to our table which was really unpleasant and ruined the atmosphere quite a bit.

Awsome place well recommended considering it was my birthday n wedding day we had booked in too bar thirty one couple doors down and was very disappointed with the service we recieved and he was the manager so we got a refund and walked down too freeman and grey only 1 worker on at the time and 18 of us and the service was just amazing too accommodate us all at the last minute thankyou so much Jordan for your awsome hospitality we will definitely be back again

Came for the $6 pizzas and was impressed by the portions. The customer service was amazing and the place had a nice ambience. The pizzas were quite dry would be a lot better with more sauce. I recommend the pizza with the pesto sauce on it.

Great staff, good pints on tap - it's an old building so a bit damp with some plumbing oddities. It's traditional anglo architecture with bathrooms up flights of stairs. Could have been a colonial-style homestead that was divided. Lots of rooms and diverse seating. The ambition of the pub is good - it's pricey but has potential.

This place is absolutely fantastic, come here with some friends for amazing cocktails custom made to what you feel like/flavors you like or order a standard off the menu cocktail. On Ponsonby Rd it is easily accessible from all locations.

Visiting from the USA, we found Freeman & Grey quite by accident but are so glad we did! The service was top notch, the atmosphere was friendly, and Jacey was the most gracious host! We’ll be back!

The first thing we all said when we sat at our table was how dirty and sticky the table was, the chairs are all worn off and dirty. Took ages for anyone to come n get our orders. Food prices are very reasonable, however, the food is actually cheap. None of our dishes were nice. I guess you just go here for the atmosphere but food wasn't anything to rave about.

My Fiance and I held our engagement party at Freeman and Grey. Initially, we were in email contact with the Group Functions and Events Executive, Chloe, who helped us a lot with the logistics of guest numbers, food, and drinks. On the night, we arrived shortly before our booked time, and the Freeman and Grey General Manager, Jacey, made sure to check in with us about how we wanted the evening to run and confirmed the final details with us. Throughout the night, she was an INCREDIBLE hostess, continually checking in, following up, and generally being very attentive. We had a wonderful night; the food and drink were phenomenal (we ordered 1 to 2 of each of the event menu pizzas as well as a number of jugs of all three kinds of sangria), and everyone had a fantastic time. I would highly recommend Freeman and Grey not only as a venue for an event but also for a casual drink or dinner and drinks 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

After a rough time organising the space via email with head office, we were further unsatisfied with the outcome of our event especially service and mixed communication - a delay and disorganisation with the music set up - the food wasn’t even prepared when we requested it to come out. The kitchen had no idea as there was no communication from head office to then prior. They food came out very late. - we received mixed messages throughout the night about using tab and about surcharges as we had our event on a public holiday and weren’t informed of the surcharges til close to the event! Basically late disclosure about holiday surcharges and very bad tone from the events coordinator throughout - throughout the night there were mixed messages about using up our tab Overall disappointing. We had a bad gut feeling before the event and weren’t wrong. They apologised but truly don’t seem to have any empathy or sene to compensate us for the havoc.

definitely come here. nicely sized pizzas for one that come with a diverse range of toppings at a cheap price of $6 between 5-7pm. pizza was cooked very well, a lovely crust on the outside of all pizza's. the one staff member that was there and served us was brilliant, welcoming, and genuine. delivery of food was normal, very much satisfactory. ambience of the place was immaculate, very warm, cozy, dim led lighting made it so rustic. decor was great. a good selection of well known songs were also played throughout at a nice volume that did not impede conversation, but loud enough to jam every so often. we sat in a little secluded table with a continuous oval couch chair with cushions, was very nice, although inconvenient to leave to go to the loo. only bad comment is the state of the bathrooms. rather poor and lots of dirt and grime everywhere, not something u want to see.

Fantastic pizza. The best I've had in years. And for the price which is slightly higher than cheap franchise pizzas, you get a taste a hundred times better. My wife had dreams of having their pizza the day after she tried it for the first time.

Super awkward, we arrived for our reservation at opening and were ignored even though the restaurant was empty. The service seemed like they didn’t want us there. We also called ahead to check about allergies but no one picked up the five times we called (during opening hours). Super uncomfy atmosphere, and the food was not nice and lowkey cold. The sangria was watery and then we asked for a takeaway box for leftovers we were told ‘we don’t have those’, with no alternative options even though half a meal was left. Will not be coming back.

Really disappointed in our experience. Was recommended this place to host a surprise party. Booked well in advance, and had emailed a food order the day before as we had a party of 12. On the day, just to double check staff were aware of the pre-order we made, we were told that only a few items were available on the day. Slightly disappointed, but understood they may have ran out of ingredients so we changed our order. When the food started coming out, we were getting confused as it wasn't what we had changed our order too, however it turns out that the initial pre-order I made was available and they had prepared this but we were not notified. Further, there was only one bartender to serve the whole downstairs so felt bad as he was quite busy. Due to the confusion with the order, we were charged for an additional dish that did not come out. When I mentioned this, the manager said that it did come out but later on in the night so I just paid the fee to avoid the hassle. The guests later confirmed with me that this dish never came out, and when I emailed the manager to sort this, they said they would look to refund. I have followed up twice now and have been waiting 2 weeks, but have not heard a reply. Just really disappointed with all the stress/confusion on the night and then trying to sort out a simple refund is being dragged out.

Celebrated a very special event here today. A few more people than I expected turned up but the lady Hannah was so accommodating. We were served and cooked for by her too she is an absolute legend. Despite being down a staff member she took amazing care of us without stressing at all. The food tasted great and the vibe was on point.

Been a fan for years! Their pizzas are the best value and the atmosphere is fun. Great service too. Highly recommend.

Upstairs Venue was great for a function but service on the night abysmal. I know staff are short but when you have three staff downstairs serving 12 customers and one person upstairs serving 80, just poorly managed. Lights in toilets not working, tables dirty. Function manager no where to be seen. Expected more.

Popped by to watch the all blacks game. The venue itself was lovely, great prices for food and drinks. The only fault were the toilets. The female toilets were absolutely vile and this was only at 7pm at night. The toilets didn’t flush and were clogged with toilet paper. My partner said the mens weren’t any better. It’s a shame because at the end of the night the state of the toilets is all that j remember.

Good little pub, with a fine atmosphere.. Ordered 5 pizzas and waited 45 minutes before asking about our pizzas and then we're told that the wait will be quite long today as there is only 1 oven working. Would be preferable to know before hand .

We had a party of 15 people on a Friday night and the kitchen was closed at 8:30 with no prior warning given to the table, the waiting staff was were very nice but that’s the only nice thing I can say. Would not go again

Whether you're looking for happy hour after work drinks, a boogie at night, or a large private event space, Freeman's does cover all of these. The pizza to be honest isn't anything I'll go out of my way for, but I still like the service, decor, and the amount of space. There's outdoor seating below as well as a deck upstairs. Note that there may only be one or two craftbeers on tap if you're looking for that.

Great place specially for large group up to the size of 10 to hangout. The pizza are really delicious and they have happy hours everyday from 12 to 2 pm and 5 to 7.30 pm which you get all the pizza for just $5 which otherwise costs $12 or more. They also serve drinks. You seat and spend long hours and the staff won't disturb or kick you out. And they keep serving if your hungry... Good for small group as well.

Came here for an early dinner on a really nice day. There's a good amount of outdoor seating to enjoy sunny weather. Also, the pizza deal ($5 for any pizza between 5 and 7:30) is amazing! There are a lot of different pizzas. The ones I had were great! Would definitely come back here when I'm in the area.

Came in at 12 & it coincided with $5 pizza time. Pizzas are so good! Light crust with plenty of toppings and not soggy or too hard. Perfect. The mint cream on my lamb pizza was so tasty. We also got steak sandwiches doubled up.. our meal was filling. You can choose how you like your steak cooked. As with most new places you tend to overorder but it was worth it. Also they had the Emerson Pale Ale which is one of our faves. Would go back for pizza and beer for sure. Guy on the bar was nice and we paid at the bar although they do provide table service as well. (we just found it easier this way) Water is self serve and menus can be found on the bar.

Had a celebration here with friends one weekend and it was FANTASTIC! Their pizzas were a hit, complemented with a lot of drinks and bar food options (the calamari was my favourite), staff was super friendly and accommodating (especially one of the ladies serving our table and the manager that night), ambience and music were fun and casual. Basically, love everything about that night! Highly recommended and will definitely be back 👍

Really nice lunch experience ! Unlike some other people that reviewed the place : we found the customer service great ! The staff greeted us with a smile once we entered and handed us menus , orders will be taken at the table. We decided for 2 of their $5 pizzas. About 5 minutes after ordering, my partner had a change of mind and the waitress was very nice about it and managed to change our order. We had the Salami & Funghi Pizza as well as the Funghi Pizza. Both came out within 15 minutes and were of decent size. We ordered a serve of their $12 Fish and Chips after. Fish was yummy aswell as the fries. Our bill was only $32 including the food above and 2 cokes. Definitely recommending this place and coming back for drinks at nighttime:)

Super chill atmosphere on a Monday afternoon. The pizzas are only 5$ between 5pm and 7.30pm which is a super bargain. The waitress was really friendly, quick and generally good at her job. The main seating downstairs is on bar stools and there is plenty of light coming in to the bar which is nice. Great place to chat with friends in the afternoon.
