The dim sum here is great. Loved their bbq pork buns and pineapple buns, both were fluff and of good quality. Wouldn't recommend their roast duck, will instead order more dim sum dishes next time. Customer service isn't great and the dishes are a bit pricey, but still 5 stars as it's the best dim sum place in Auckland.

November 2022: Took parents here as they never been to this restaurant before. With paper menu, pricing is much more transparent. Food was good; although a prawn dumpling kinda tasted like it had a bit of detergent in it? The food arrives quite quickly. Staff present at the time were nice... 3 stars. January 2023: Much improved. Went here on weekend with 10 others and we paid $30each which was reasonable. I enjoyed all the dumplings, prawn on toast, sticky rice, and desserts. Everything is delicious. Just teapot needs to be filled up more often. 4 stars

We came from Hong Kong and we want to say it’s so good and even better than many of the dim sum places in Hong Kong! We traveled to NZ for vacation and saw many good reviews online for this place so we wanted to try how authentic the dim sum in Auckland can be. And it didn’t disappoint! We ordered turnip cake, siu mai, bbq pork rice roll, prawn toast, tripe. And everything tasted amazingly delicious. The ingredients were fresh and the portion was large! I had never seen a prawn toast with so much prawn paste! The price was very reasonable and we were very happy having such good quality and traditional dim sum while away from home.

It's unbelievably disgusting when the waitress put soy sauce, hoisin sauce and sesame sauce into our plain stream rice rolls without asking!!!! It's gross eating rice rolls with all these three sauces together!!! Like.. Which Cantonese eats plain rice rolls with sesame sauce and hoisin sauce?????!!!! When we sat down they didn't bother asking for tea. Service is very BAD.

Although the service, prices and ambiance were quite good at this restaurant, the food was only average. While they had a wide selection of dishes available, it felt less authentic than most Yum Cha and Dim Sum restaurants as they didn't come around with trays. Unfortunately, the food lacked flavor and didn't quite meet expectations.

Had yum cha here not too long ago. There was a crowd but not overly crowded. Sitting arrangement was good and spacious. It was comfortable. Service was as expected. We enjoyed the food. It was a good place for yum cha. If you are keen on yum cha you may like to pay this restaurant a visit.

Decent Yumcha place, had all your usuals :) not sure if it was because of COVID, but no trolleys and had to order on paper. All good came out at once which filled our table quite quickly and made it difficult to manage plates in and out . Decent priced

Love this place. As soon as we came out of locksdown, we book this place and we triple check to make sure we did not make a mistake on our booking! If you love steam stuff on yum char, this place offer great food with good pricing. I love their beef ribs, chicken feet, siomay, prawn dumpling.. wait, I actually love all of their food!!!!! It is full of flavour!

Went there for my dad's birthday. First time eating at a Chinese restaurant like this and unfortunately didn't enjoy most of your food. Didn't taste great. Only one I enjoyed the most was fried rice, but I have had better from cheaper Chinese takeaways. I was hoping fried noodle would make up for the most of items we ordered, but it was also a letdown. I read the reviews before we booked a table, majority of reviewers enjoyed your food, but it's just me and my family. We are a fan of Chinese food, but we prefer cheaper Chinese takeaways as they are way more tastier. The place was overcrowded, hard to move around. It's a fire hazard should there be a fire. Table layout need to be rearranged to make the place more accessible and safe. Service was lovely. Waitresses were great and attentive. Unfortunately we won't be back. Thank you :)

Yeah it was ok, I like that it’s a bit smaller than many similar restaurants so feels a little more intimate and the decor helped created a decent vibe. The food however, was just average. Not bad, not amazing. Some dishes came out lukewarm and didn’t have a strong flavour but I did really enjoy the shumai, that was one of the better shumai I’ve had in Auckland.

Had dinner here. We ordered 2 claypots (tofu, eggplant), sizzling beef and roast duck. Everything was so delicious! Portions were large and filling. Our family loved it! Prices are on the higher end but definitely worth it. Will be back again.

Food is yummy, and service is very prompt. We ordered the banquet so multiple plates were put on our table, the waiter gave us an extra plate of bok choy possibly by accident, we thought it was part of the banquet so we ate it. None of the staff said anything about it but when we got our bill we were charged an extra $38 for it. The lady argued we should pay as we ate it but we stood our ground and refused. They didn't even mention it, just put it on our bill! After looking through other reviews it seems this is not a one off event, my advice, CHECK YOUR RECEIPT!!!

Pearl Garden Yum Cha in Newmarket, Auckland, deserves an enthusiastic 5-star rating! From the moment we stepped in, we were treated to impeccable service by a friendly and attentive staff. The variety of dim sum and dumplings they offer is simply exceptional, bursting with flavors that attest to the quality of ingredients used. What truly stood out was their extensive tea menu, which perfectly complemented the meal. We can't wait to return for more delectable dishes and delightful moments!

One of the oldest Chinese restaurant in Auckland. Clean and cozy environment. Foods are good and friendly service. Reasonable price in Newmarket area.

Dropped in this evening for a last minute Sunday dinner out. Despite being super busy, the staff found us a table. The waiter we spoke to was chatty and friendly even though they had a full restaurant of people. Food was also excellent! We had the combination starter which was spot on; it included a little bit of everything. We then had the Mongolian sizzling lamb and special fried rice. Very generous portions of deliciousness. We’ll be back again soon for sure.

Good yum cha place. Quite tasty and they have a good selection of yumcha here. No cart, you write in the paper to order. No photo on the menu, so it may be a bit difficult to order for people who is not used to yum cha. Chili oil and tea felt a bit bland.

What we ordered: - Golden custard buns - Egg tarts - Steamed prawn rice roll - Steamed chicken feet - Prawn Dumplings - Mini Shanghai buns The golden custard buns were so fluffy and not too sweet but the custard was thick and just the best thing I've ever tasted. The egg tarts were also amazing with flaky pastry and this soft silky texture. It was just so good! The prawn dumplings (har gow) and steamed prawn rice roll (cheung fun) weren't that different but in both cases the prawn was so bouncy and delicious. The rice rolls come with this sweet soy sauce and they are extremely slippery and extremely worth it. The mini Shanghai buns (xiao long bao) didn't have as much soup as I thought they would but they were so juicy and flavourful, the wrapper is soft and slippery and the meat just has this incredible bite to it and all of the juice just runs out of it (it's wonderful. And last but not least, the chicken feet were good, it was the first time I've ever had them but my god they are a pain to eat.
