My favorite hotel out of 5 hotels across 5 cities in 3 countries. The front door is hard to spot. The lobby is eclectic with a huge chandelier and purple or turquoise velvet chairs. There is a wall full of over 40 metal placards with famous people’s autographs: Bjorn Borg, Deep Purple, Backstreet Boys, Jerry Seinfeld… When we checked in, we were given an upgrade to a room with 2 double beds (which is odd as I was unable to book 2 double beds). The room was spacious and beds were comfortable. There is free wifi. There was a complimentary breakfast… and dinner! The complimentary dinner was a nice surprise – it was chili with rice, lentil soup, chickpea salad, cucumber salad, quinoa and bread. It was tasty and saved us both money and effort to find a good restaurant. The breakfast was varied and excellent. The hotel boasts a tower with a gorgeous view and it does not disappoint (see photos). We would definitely stay here again! Our only regret was that we only stayed here 1 night!

We stayed here for 3 nights as tourists from the UK. The included breakfast, fika, evening meal and constant coffee were of a high standard. The evening buffet was a soup, various salads and a different main each evening. There is no vegetarian main but whilst we stayed the soup was vegetarian and salads excellent. The public areas of the building are historic and comfortable. A nice bonus is being able to access the building's watch tower that is overlooking the harbour.

Didrik and William are best at their job. Didrik remembered my name from a phone call and made us feel special. The hotel is placed at the best spot possible. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are clean. There is a clock tower with a 360 view to which you can get a key and enjoy an intimate panoramic view of Bergen. Would definitely visit again. Hotel is a bit aged but still running great.

Lovely hotel, next the to harbor, very close to the fortress. The room was really nice. We had a few challenges opening the room door but the receptionist showed us the trick. Breakfast was ok, thin pickings in comparison to some of our previous hotels. Avoid this place for dinner as there are lots of really nice restaurants nearby.

We stayed for 3 nights and the glorious weather certainly helped the experience. The hotel is in a great position in Bryggen and we were impressed with the friendly welcome at reception. The room was fine; clean and spacious enough for a family of four with two double beds. No view, but some of the rooms do. You can ask at reception for the key to the tower, with great views across the city and the water. The breakfast was very good, as were the afternoon snack and the light supper provided. Waffles at 3pm followed by the supper saved us a lot of money as we didn't need to eat out and pay Bergen prices for food! We would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Bergen. We caught the light rail from the airport and walked about 10-15 minutes across town to the hotel - a very nice walk.

Best hotel during our entire trip! With the free dinner and breakfast, this hotel was also amazing value in our opinion. Our room was massive and also had a balcony which was super nice. This was the first hotel we had where the room sizes were comparable to the ones in America. This hotel also had very cute vibes. The decor everywhere was stunning. Also, they have a lookout at the top where you can get pretty nice views of Bergen. Just ask the receptionist for a key to access the top room and stairwell! Best part of this hotel was the breakfast and dinner though! We honestly weren’t expecting much for the light evening meal but it was honestly amazing and definitely enough to be full of you want. They have salad and cold pasta dishes, along with potatoes, some meat option, and a soup. Norway is pretty meat heavy so I was super excited for the salad bar (had all my favorite toppings - cheese, nuts, seeds, onions, etc.). I think I had celery soup when I was there and it was so good. Obviously don’t expect Michelin-quality dinner but for a free dinner, it exceded my expectations. The staff/chef were also so friendly! Breakfast was also pretty good. There’s also a sauna in the basement area with a relaxation space that is really nice. There was no one there when I went and their chairs were really comfy that I fell asleep. Everything about this hotel was amazing!! Only drawback was the luggage storage which is a pretty big room but for some reason it was completely full they day were needed to store our bags. I don’t think this was normal though.

We had a fantastic long weekend stay here Suzanne the receptionist was friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and tidy. The breakfast, and evening meals were superb. The hotel overooks the harbour, great location to walk into Bergen for the shops, bars, and restaurants Bus stops outside to take you anywhere you need to go Highly recommend this hotel Paul & Fay

Tiril, I hope I spelled it right was SUCH A DELIGHT. Our family loved seeing her during our stay. She even got to be the first to wish my mom a happy birthday and made sure my mom really felt the love. William was also amazing and the other girl we frequently ran into! I can’t say enough about this beautiful hotel. Loved the warm bathroom floors, loved the tower access so you can see all of the vagen. Simply amazing, plus it includes breakfast dinner and fika time (make yourself waffles)!!!

My family had a great stay in May 2023. We stayed for 3 nights in the family room. Spacious & cozy room, we slept well throughout our stay. The complimentary breakfast, evening tea (lovely fika time making waffles) & light dinner (not light at all, it was a full course and beyond our expectations) were bonus during this stay. Not to forget the view from the rooftop overlooking the port & the fortress. I would recommend Clarion to whoever visiting Bergen!

My family had a great stay at this hotel. The room was perfect for a family of four. Locations was amazing, so close to everything the city has to see and our ferry out. The breakfast was delicious, we enjoyed the afternoon waffles, and everyone was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

The hotel is well located and the acomodations are reasonable. However, the service is not good. I had a problem with the housekeeping service. No one told me in the check in that i was supposed to ask in previus night to have my room made out. And i came back to the hotel at 2:00 pm and it had not been made up yet. I asked the reception to make up the room and it took about more than two yours to have it cleaned . To my surprise when i complainned for the long delay i was treated with disrespect even by the recepcionist and the hotel manager. They mocked at me. I think that how it is a tourist hotel with guests for all over the world and different cultures, information like this should be given to the guests at the check in, clearly and in a polite way.

Havnekontoret is Norwegian for port office, the gateway to a port. In Bergen the Clarion Havnekontoret is universal for a marvelous hotel, the gateway to one of Scandinavia’s great cities. Sitting at the entrance to the harbor and alongside the accessible Bergenhus Fortress, the green cupola of this hotel calls you to visit and offers spectacular harbor views, wonderful included meals such as a full breakfast, Fika with coffee and waffles, and a complete evening meal. From here, you can ramble the quaint shops of Brygenn, perhaps finding that perfect Nordic sweater or perhaps catching some fresh Norwegian cuisine. Walk a bit further and you can enjoy the market at end of the docks, or maybe you’ll take the funicular to the top of the mountain to enjoy the stunning views. Or it could be a brief walk to train station for some independent sightseeing that’s calling you. My family and I have visited twice in the last eight months. And as much as we love Bergen, it’s returning to the Clarion Havnekontoret that made our time there so special. We loved the hotel, but we more loved the people there who made us feel at home. Whether it was back-office people like Hilde and Roza Linn, or the ladies like Amalie who worked at reception, everyone there made us feel like family. It doesn’t take much to be an inn keeper. It takes a lot to make you feel at home. Until the next time….

We have stayed 2 nights in superior rooms with view. View is on mountain and partial / side on harbour. Rooms are comfortable. Breakfast was quite good. One of 2 nights we were too tired to get out so we used their complementary light dinner , and in fact it was quite reasonable and did the job nicely. They have limited parking places outside on the harbour, which are quite competitive and practical (just in front of the hotel and no stairs / lifts). They are very well located. Last the satff is very pleasant and always looking to help.

Excellent hotel and great location. The rooms are great but only challenge is that in a double room they put in 4 single beds instead of a large king bed which leaves little space in the room. Another issue is with the elevator at this hotel. There is only 1 main elevator serving 6 floors of this hotel and in mornings this wait times are longer. The service is ok.

We had such a nice stay here. The staff was friendly and provided great recommendations. We stayed in the Founders Suite which was spacious, comfy and clean. There was a great view of the water from our balcony. The location was excellent and we could walk to everything we needed. The hotel is unique. You must walk around as there are some really interesting rooms that probably have an interesting history. Parking was easy in the underground garage across the street - although the spaces are tiny so it might be stressful if you're in a large car. Being in the center of a busy area, it can be a bit noisy if you're a light sleeper so bring some ear plugs. There was a restaurant next door that played loud music, but we had our ear plugs so it was not an issue. We were out and about the entire afternoon and evening so we did not experience fika or the dinner here. Unfortunately, we only stayed for one night, but we highly recommend them!

Top tier hotel no matter the criteria. Within walking distance to nearly everything there is to do in Bergen. Friendly and professional staff. Three meals included. This was a perfect choice for my vacation.

I spent 4 nights here and completely enjoyed the experience. The INCLUDED light dinner and afternoon Fika were a real plus. They have a small tower above the 6th floor w a great 360 degree outdoor view of the city. Ask for a key at the front desk if you are a guest here.

Check in took 3 hours. Ongoing maintenance issues with the key card system. Main elector is broken and the whole property has to use a 3 person staff elevator. The “family room” has two tiny beds and a very small loveseat that is suppose to be a third bed. We ended up booking another room after seeing how small it was l, but Marriott app did t pick this hotel up (for reservation or complaint to Marriott) so the hotel desk booked it and UPCHARGED ME because they made the booking, not me. I said your hotel doesn’t show up on the app and the y agreed, they had the same issue trying to book an additional room too. I paid an extra $200 because their app didn’t work. They were out of toiletries (like Kleenex) and the staff was worked to the bone. The front desk doubles as the bar, and I. Between. Heck in the two staff members had to run open doors for people (massive battery issue on their floor for the key card system) drop of towels, pillows and cribs. We just got stuck sitting in the lobby waiting for someone who could help us get checked in. The staff was very very friendly, just way overworked. That coupled with maintenance and supply chain issues and our inability to book an additional room led to this negative review. Book the Raddison Blu next door, nice property.

Took over 3 hours to check in - booked a junior suite - received a room with 2 twin beds for 3 people - then charged an additional room in order for 3rd person to have a bed… no room for suitcases. Doors did not work - had to get desk to open with key each time. Elevator was broken and had been for “several weeks.” Used service elevator but fit only 2 people at a time - elderly tour group waited forever. Facility is way understaffed. 2 young girls did everything- check-in, bar, luggage, setting up cribs - etc etc.

The location is excellent. The bus from the airport stops right outside. All the amenities are right on your doorstep. The views are incredible. Especially from the observation tower. The rooms are very nice, clean, big enough, safe and fridge and tea/coffee station. Everything you'd want. Beds are super soft and comfy. Bathroom is clean and has good amenities including conditioner! Breakfast is incredible. Waffles and coffee are self serve in the afternoon. Dinner is a light supper, soup, salad and a warm dish. Perfect for filling up before a night out but obviously I would also eat out some nights too. Staff are lovely and helpful. There is often a live pianist playing in reception. We grabbed a bottle of cava and listened to him for an hour. We are yet to find the basement gym. This is not a cheap hotel but is super romantic vibes and excellent service. We came here for our honeymoon and are not disappointed.

Not my best stay in Norway. The place is too chic for my taste, seems a grandma house. Rooms are small, not so much space for luggages and the shower didn’t close well so after the shower the pavement was completely wet. The dinner included is OK. I mean, do not expect a lot of choice but overall was good. Breakfast was as great, lots of choices. A bit overpriced in my opinion.

The hotel staff was warm, friendly and helpful. The hotel is charming and the breakfast buffet is excellent. The free evening meal was an unexpected delight. I do not think that a better location exists in Bergen.

Very well situated hotel in Bergen with a lovely and helpful, service minded staff. The rooms was clean and spacious. The evening meal was perfect for our family with 2 kids, 3 and 6 years old, as we didn't have to leave the hotel and spend time on finding a restaurant, wait for ordering etc..

Very nice looking Hotel in the heart of Bergen. Employees are friendly and rooms are clean. They went a tad overboard with the pillows on bed, though. Two huge (in addition to two normal) sized pillows that is impossible to use. I threw them on the floor. Havnekontoret is my preferred hotel to stay at, when I want a premium experience.

Great hotel if you want to pay a little extra The hotel is beautifully located by the famous Bryggen in Bergen. When you enter there is a great salon. A great place to sit for a cup of coffee or something while waiting for something or someone. There is also the reception. I checked in for one night. Experienced the check-in and the receptionist as very nice. There is a lift to the rooms, but the monumental staircase in this old renovated building was great to walk. The room lacked absolutely nothing. And the view was great. The cleanliness was impeccable. Overall very nice! Did not take advantage of the breakfast or the light supper that is included in the price this time. So I can not comment on how they were. The experience from other similar hotels in the chain is that both are very good. The only minus is that the receptionist, like unfortunately many in the chain, forgets to point out when you have a guest with membership in the benefits program. If you have taken the step of mainly using a chain, it is loyalty-creating to take extra care of those guests. For example, you can say that you see that you have a loyal guest who has a gold card, and what benefits it provides. Else. A hotel you would like to stay at. If you have a little extra to spend on hotels when you are in Bergen. It can quickly be worth it.

I stayed at a single room with sea view. Receptionists were friendly and they provided good information of Bergen tourist attractions. Breakfast buffet was good.
