Coffee and cakes were good. Nice sitting places across the cafe, but service is not up to the mark. They should consider customer's preferences for seating when cafe is not so busy.

What a fabulous find! Terrific breakfast yoghurt dish and super coffee. Lunch fixed menu salad or sandwich, drink and dessert was also excellent, very fresh and very good value. Staff were all lovely - welcoming and friendly. If we come to Bordeaux again we will definitely come to Books and Coffee. The pic is of our breakfast and almost empty restaurant as it was early and hadn't been open long.

They have very nice desserts and really tasty double espresso. The atmosphere of the library I liked so much. Unfortunately, there was no cinnamon every time I was

Quite a wait for to go drinks, but the place is very cute and tastefully designed, so we didn't mind it. The browny was delicious but too crumbly. Matcha Latte and Cappucino were the best in Bordeaux. Definitely come here for brunch, very delightful, but be ready to wait for seating. Be mindful that you pay over 1 euro more (+20-25%) for any pastry if you order it for inside, so take out is much more economical.

Excellent coffee, a super delicious salad and panino. Server was friendly welcoming. Only complaint is they are so busy we were sitting 15 minutes and I had to ask them to come take our order or else who knows how long we would have waited. That being said, we loved our food and coffee. Pictured is a cappuccino and the salad with Aubergine. I added chicken to it. They have daily plates that seem amazing as well. Super fairly priced!!!! Dreamy outdoor seating views, too. No wifi - just an fyi.

Visited early Saturday morning after eventually finding it. We was welcomed by the staff at this establishment with a smile and pleasant ambiance. The breakfast could have been warmer but service was great and nothing was too much trouble. Will be visiting next time!

Fantastic! Go for Sunday brunch and take a hot drink, mimosa, savoury dish and sweet treat for €23. Great value. Perfect service - fast, friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere and plenty of space so worth the wait if there is a queue because it won’t be long. The patisseries are excellent - chocolate cream filled eclairs and crunchy Paris Brest. Hot chocolates are pretty special too. So good we returned twice!

One of the best coffees you can find in Bordeaux. And believe me, the right cappuccino or filter coffee is a rare finding in this city. You can also be offered pastries and sweets for coffee, and there is something to eat. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The cafe is located just behind the picturesque Grosse Cloche at the beginning of the historic part of the town. Perfect place for morning coffee.

What a great place to grab coffee/tea and patisserie after a long day of sightseeing in Bordeaux! We came to this neighborhood to see #LaGrosseCloche. We walked around narrow historic streets around the Grosse Cloche and ended up in the Books & Coffee. We got Paris Brest and Tarte Tatin. Fresh, delicious and great service! The vibe and decor in the coffee shop is very welcoming! Highly recommend and will come again.

Love the atmosphere and dining environment! And importantly they open early! Most cafes open after 930 or even 10. But this one is super early! Very comfy to have a breakfast or brunch! Came here twice in our short 3-day stay in Bordeaux. All good!

Such a sweet place to start the day in beautiful Bordeaux. I love it how the pastries are not polished and have that homey feel and touch about them. The coffee is excellent. The stuff is lovable. I recommend sharing your table on the terrace with others, because it’s hard to get a table and sharing is caring

Staff is helpful and nice. Coffe and tea are tasting great. Problem was the food, we have ordered avocado toast and we weren’t satisfied. Avocado was black inside, and it wasn’t even toast but a half of white bun, not even toasted. Nice place for a coffee with croissant.

Smiling and positive staff, nice atmosphere, but average food. The cafe’s located on my favorite street in Bordeaux center. The indoor space is spacious and cozy. The service is pretty amiable. I ordered chai latte frappé, which is too sweet. Even though the cinnamon spice is strong enough but I prefer to taste stronger tea flavor as well. And the banana bread was a bit too dry. The taste is a bit plain with sugar dominating the taste profile. But, it’s a place where you can study or work for their large tables.

I thought this place looked like a tourist trap, and so I was a little reluctant to sit down at a table, but we needed a little break and to use the restroom, so we decided to stop. The service was amazing, with our waitress making hokes and having fun... the Kouign-amann was so delicious, and the mocha is probably the best one I've ever had (that my wife didn't make for me. She thought it was even better than the ones she's made for me). I hope we have enough time to go back here before we leave Bordeaux, because it's absolutely worth multiple visits.

Great place for breakfast/ lunch. I stopped by for a lunch on a weekday and I waited about five minutes to find a table. Salad lunch combo (formule) was excellent. Salad was seasoned with base of balsamic vinegar and basil pesto on top. In this very meat-heavy country, I was glad to find something I could eat (and enjoy). They were so busy each step of service took a little longer than I’d have liked. But at least they were all very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful little brunch spot. The food, decor and environment there was very pleasant. It has a good balance of sweet and savoury dishes as well as having a sweet/savoury combo (which I typically prefer). Unfortunately had to leave early but would have loved to stay longer to take in the atmosphere of the place. Will definitely return again!!

A really crowded place where is hard to find a free table. The coffee is good. The food looks good but it only tastes average.

Great place for a brunch. Great selection and quality and the portions are very generous

  • 3/5 Ben S. 9 months ago on Google
The food looks very tasty. But it is prepared in advance (most likely), and it is completely tasteless. Coffee is terrible. Croissant better in Lidl. The juice is delicious. The service is bad.

Nice brunch place, Sunday menu is €25 each to have coffee, orange juice, main and a dessert. Coffee was excellent!

Great place to eat. Everything that we had was delicious. The croissants was buttery and light. The Rossini was very tasty. The rosti bacon was very rich. And the pancakes were light and delicious. The yogurt with granola was was also divine.

Great food. Great service. If you like cakes, have a look inside this place.

Gandhi salad (vegetarian) was nice. Huge portion and a nice taste. Needed to be mixed better though as the oil and seasoning was at the bottom. They have oat milk. It's just a bit watery. My wife didn't like her latte. But I liked my hot chocolate. Desserts look amazing. Apart from the cafe gourmand. That looked sad but the desserts with chocolate looked tasty. I had the banana bread and wasn't disappointed! It's a nice space. Fans inside kept the place cool and very nice/ quirky decor.

I just Love it! Great food, great interior and nice staff. The breakfast sounds lovely and I will definitely come back for it! They have a huge range of teas which is great. Also, the cheesecake is heaven 😍 The only downside is the fact that they don’t have any WiFi. This would be good to have as it seems that people come here to work.

My food was perfection. I had an American style breakfast consisting of pancakes, eggs and bacon. Being an American I can say that the food was just as good as a traditional U.S. if not better! The pancakes were very fluffy and just the right amount of sweet, the eggs were runny the way I like and the bacon was crispy and of very good quality.

Lovely cozy but spacious spot in the heart of Bordeaux. The perfect place, as the name suggests, to snuggle away with a book and a good coffee (or a hot chocolate and brownie ;-)). But equally amazing for a sunny lunch out on the small terrace (be prepared to wait for a table when the weather gets hot). The simple menu offers something for everyone in my opinion, whether you're hungover and looking for something grassy and hearty, or want to dive into a health-conscious meal, Books & Coffee has it all. And not to go unmentioned - the delicious cakes and baked goods out for display - they are as good as they look. Great to take home too (especially considering the (over the top) added service fee on these products for in-house consumption). Why for 4 stars? No matter the hour of the day, service is always slow, so be prepared to wait a while for that delicious lunch or coffee.

The place is nice very busy. But what i thought is it could be a bit quiet, where you can read a BOOK but unfortunately not. The music was too loud that other people needs to speak louder so they could hear others. I would compliment the coffee its very good.

  • 3/5 Marina V. 3 years ago on Google
The staff was friendly enough and the cafe is quite love, if you have a chance sit outside it really is pleasant. However the brunch was very disappointing, both my cousin and my meals were bland in flavour. I would perhaps just order a coffee and no meal if i were to ever come again.

We went here for brunch and it was a nice little formule that wasn't too expensive or extravagant. The bacon option was a lot better than the vegetarian option (the egg was stone cold and the muffins weren't toasted) but I really loved the HUGE mug of tea that came with it. Exactly what I need to nurse my hangover 🙏

200/100 recommend!!! The food was delicious: nice, surprising flavour combinations, great vegetarian options. Also the lady that was doing service today was really friendly, worked hard to keep up during the busy hours and always remained a smile. A must try!!

Had a nice coffee here this morning. It’s a large place with lots of tables and comfortable chairs. Was pleased that they had non-dairy milk (oat).

Great coffee shop. Variety foods for breakfast. Vegetarian options available. Has outdoor and indoor seating (no sun on the patio in the am). Food was delicious. Lots of Pastries too 🥐

The atmosphere inside is very cute, I really liked the stained glass inside. The staff was very friendly and didn’t laugh at me speaking broken French. My only critique is to add a bit less jam to the cheesecake!
