Dear god please read these reviews. We were waiting in the lobby for our room to be ready. We had some homeless man ask us if we wanted to buy some of his various stolen merchandise. The ceiling above us was covered in water damage and was sagging very bad. We then proceeded to look up the reviews on this place as we were beginning to be concerned. Horrible reviews all across the board. We should have looked them up earlier but thank God we managed to get our money back. Some people were not so lucky. Definitely would not feel safe bringing a child here or staying here alone as a woman.

Our biggest mistake was booking a room without reading the reviews! It was old and it smelled like cigarettes in the main lobby. We got cat called by the drunk group of males standing directly outside the front entrance as we were checking in. As we started walking to the elevator, one of the drunk males followed us. He started making small talk about hiking, but then warned us of the bed bugs. He said he lived in the hotel and had been spraying the beds for months and couldn’t get rid of the bed bugs. He politely suggested we walked across the street to the fancier hotels. We did exactly that. The receptionist at the other hotel confirmed this story. He said he often had guests walk straight over asking for a room right after checking into harbourside. Save yourself the hassle. Read the reviews and stay ANYWHERE else.

This “Hotel” is not accurate in it’s advertising. This is a halfway house and soup kitchen on the side, I’m not judging, everyone needs somewhere to go, but they should be more honest about this. I wouldn’t have brought my family there if I had known and we forfeit our booking upon entry. Our room was not clean, bed wasn’t made, the building smells like pee and cigarettes. I ran a cheap old B&B for years, brutal honesty in advertising will avoid unhappy people in the future.

This place needs to be shut down. We walked out immediately. There were cockroaches everywhere and the mattresses were completely infested with bed bugs. I’ve never seen anything so disgusting in my life.

Booking here was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made. I stupidly booked through Expedia thinking that they screened the hotels that they advertised. My fault for not reading the reviews. This place was not just a dump, it was downright dangerous. The air conditioning unit made noise like a freight train… and was dripping heavily with water (or some other smelly substance)… right onto an extension cord. And as if that wasn’t bad enough… it was a hostel for homeless and addicted people. There was a smell of stale cigarettes and crack smoke all through the hallway… (and yes I know what it smells like because I work in the Vancouver Downtown EastSide) the paint was peeling, the light fixture didn’t work, there was a soup kitchen right next door. We came in on our motorcycle… and there was no security… so the homeless people were leaning on it, and bumping into it as they staggered by… but the most infuriating thing was … they crashed into it with their shopping carts!!!!!! I caught one of them putting their slurpee cups on the seat… and adjusted one of the mirrors so they could look at themselves. Look… I get that homeless people need a place to stay… but how dare Expedia sell a place without some sort of warning. This was the last hotel on a beautiful trip… and this is the paste taste that was left in my mouth. Shame on you Expedia

Hotel is old and I agree with other comments that it’s creepy and dirty. The flooring was dirty and the few renovations that they have done are sub standard and look terrible. We had paid for 4 days online and after 2 days couldn’t stand it and left. There are homeless hanging around outside and we did not feel safe plus I was worried that our vehicle would be stolen as there were homeless hanging around in the back alley.

Right down in the speedier side of Campbell river this dive is horrible a.d should be avoided like the plague. Some of the staff are good but the main lady Barb is a horrible thief. She will prey on anybody and gets away with it all the time I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. And there is bugs everywhere. If I could give it less then one star I would.

This was an absolute lsdt choice and for good reason the bathroom was sickening neither the in or out side of the toilet had been cleaned in a decade, its was no longer white on the putter bowl but yellow sprinkled with pubic hair. There was no heat, so don't waste your time with the thermostat on wall its all for looks, and the oil filled heater did not work either.... So it was so cold we had to take the blanket off the spare bed and double them up..total dive... And they charged us $93.23 on top of the $50 deposit

The bed was hard and springy, the pillows were flat. And to wake up to big, itchy welts on my body. Friendly staff. But do not stay. Spend the little bit extra for a different place.

There were bed bugs and they clearly know, they acted like they didn’t. Didn’t even give us a full refund just the damage deposit and the night we didn’t stay. Didn’t really care to argue at that point just wanted to get out as fast as possible. Don’t stay here.

The only thing good about this hotel is the staff. Avoid at all cost. My first time to the island and this place made it my last.

Sketchy place. Ended up leaving because they couldn't even provide a room key. I'd sleep in my car before staying here.

Peter was very welcoming and helpful. The hotel is a budget hotel with big airy rooms. The only thing that let it down is the dirty floor and general state of not bring cleaned. I had to clean sticky marks off the bedside table. The pillows smelt and I began to think maybe the sheets weren't clean. If it weren't for the dirt, I would give this hotel 4 stars.

Right downtown close to stores. Rooms are used for low income, bedbugs in ground floor suits.

These people that complain should have done their homework first. 88 bucks a night is a dead giveaway that it's obviously an accommodation for the homeless and people in need. Good on them for contributing their assistance to improve the housing crisis. You get what you pay for. Be kind and accept that. Thank you. Stu.

Not a bad place but don't know if they still rent rooms any more because they are more of housing for people that are in need
