I visited The Press Bar and Grill on Monday the 7th of May 2018, even though it was Monday, and early, everyone there was chirpy and cheerful. The bartender was a bundle of energy and joy, a person might have been mistaken that it was a Friday and payday all at the same time. I had one of their burgers and I was blown away! It was tasty, juicy , huge, and now I am hungry, I will definitely pay them another visit! This Sunday, The Press Bar and Grill have something for Mother's Day. I think I will definitely go there, the food was just delicious. LOL It was awesome.

What a restaurant! Cape Town has a fairly limited range of kosher dining spots, but this mattered little to us as we were happy to return to The Press three times in one week. Coming from Israel, we found the portions to be generous, flavours delicious, and prices very reasonable. Both the Mary Had A Little Lamb and Hangover burgers were so good, we ordered them twice. We found the steak burger a bit hit and miss (mine was slightly overdone while my friend’s was perfect) but the steaks themselves at neighbouring tables looked divine. Top tip - sit at the bar to chat with Mike, the affable barman who made us delicious cocktails and had great banter. The house white was lovely too. Also possible to buy yummy kosher biltong to take home from here. Last tip — the Spar down the street has the widest range of kosher food we found in Cape Town. We got sushi, sandwiches, and salads here for Shabbat and day trips, though if we’d thought of it, we’d have got takeaway from The Press! They do takeaway sandwiches as well as the main dishes.

Great atmosphere. But I do need to warn you that online prices do not reflect prices on menu. Also to be 100% honest I was not a fan of the mother hen burger it was a bit average. But everything else was fantastic. Ps. I want to say thank you to the owner for being so on top of things, and for really listening to customers. They have the best daiquiris and if I could eat everything on the menu I would 😋 😋😋

Really good burger and friendly staff also an enjoyable pub to sit down and have some drinks with friends. Had the Portuguese burger and it was a bit big and messy but the flavors were out of this world. Definitely has good value for money as the portions are appropriate and there is a price point for everyone but could use some more grill in the meat sections as they only have a few cuts of steak available but they do have a large array of burgers on the menu and that puts them up there. 8/10

Really good for and great service. Fast. Scrumptious and we'll priced. I liked their lamb. Staff there were so good to us and our baby. I looked the fact that they also sold prepackaged food -great place to stick up for day trips.

I pointed the bartender to a cockroach on the bar counter and got an answer “Welcome to Cape Town!” After this, he literally did nothing with that! On the next day, we realized that we poisoned probably with onion rings or meatballs. Disgusting place.

Nice kosher place. Tasty grilled chicken, chips and onion rings . Burger - the meat patty is good, but the bun was too dry. The Ketchup is not tasty, the coleslaw was too sweet.

A cozy family friendly Kosher restaurant. They have big portions so you get value for money. Book a table because some lunch and dinner rimes are quite busy. There is a Deli for for some delicacies to savour at home.

We stayed in cape town for 3 nights and went to the Press grill and bar every single night, not just because its the 1 out of 2 great kosher restaurants available in cape town but because their service was 5 star and their food was simply perfection. We really enjoyed coming there and the staff were so excited to see us each night and were sad to see us leave. Service was friendly and quick.

Your food has got to be the worst I have ever eaten. Would rather eat a McDonald's burger. Ordered a half chicken and get 2 leg and thigh portions. Sorry but that is rather pathetic. Also the plate was nice and hot. The food not. Had to send it back. Came back dry. I feel sorry for the kosher people that don't have much of a choice because of limited options. Hope your business survives.

I was in Cape Town for 4 days and had to go back twice to the Press because i liked it that much. Joshua was my waiter and he was great. Such a nice person and added to the atmosphere. The food was top notch as well.

The host and team are excellent. Had the most incredible veg stir fry on request! My only hope is the amazing sauce that splattered over my jacket is covered by David the charismatic owner when it goes off to the dry cleaner. 5 stars regardless

As my time in South Africa comes to a close, I am beginning to reminisce about the incredible experiences I've had the pleasure to enjoy. Nothing comes so vividly to mind as the 4 nights I spent at The Press. To begin this enchanting review I will start and recount the food. Then I will move on to the ambiance. The food is a delicacy. There is no kosher food in South Africa that can compare. The quality is akin to American levels of decadence. Over the course of my time in The Press we ate everything on the menu that came from a cow (or lamb). The meat of the Lamb ribs melt off the bone like Vaseline on a baby's bottom. The burgers come LARGE and your mouth cannot help but to water like a fountain in a pedestrian park. The Robben Island Iced Tea exceeds low expectations. I think this is a comprehensive review of the food. Let us now address customer care. Josh and Mike. The most legendary duo a couple of blokes exploring the southern hemisphere could happen upon. Mike has a shining smile and beautiful tats. He brought a new perspective on the sport of Cricket and a joy unmatched by civilization to this point. Josh loves to be friendly and immediately became one of our favourite waitstaff. He exudes sociability. The owner is a fine upstanding gentleman who welcomes every customer lovingly. This is truly a must eat place for any Jew sliding through. Please, I implore, visit Cape Town and, more importantly, visit The Press. Much Love, Nathan

It’s kosher in Cape Town. Fun bar offerings. The sweetest waiter … mashgicha is lovely and bubbles. If you eat meat and keep kosher there’s not much option but this one is goo. Doesn’t feel like you’ve been stuffed into the back kosher corner.

Had a disappointing experience here last week. I ordered a bagel for a takeaway and saw on the website that it’s R80. I placed my order and when I went to collect the food, my bill was R110? I enquired with the waiter who told me that the website is out of date and R110 is the new price. I told him that I was ordering because of the price I saw but unfortunately he told me there is nothing they can do to help. 2 things frustrated me with this. 1) If your official website gives the price of something, then it’s not my responsibility if you have not taken the effort to update it. I should not have to pay more for something because of your inability to stay on top of your admin. 2) I was left pretty shocked at how a R30 increase for a bagel was justified. R5 or maybe R10 makes sense but an increase from R80 to R110 made me very confused. Food was decent but was left very disappointed with the lack of care or responsibility taken (or not taken) by the staff/ restaurant. Wouldn’t recommend this spot. Unfortunate as I was really hoping this would be a nice local spot to support!

Disappointing experience. Probably the loudest place to have dinner in whole Cape Town. That would not be the issue if the rest would be good. There was no sauce hollandaise on one of our „Hangover Burgers“. The other one had the sauce but it tasted literally like nothing! The brisket on the burger was not crispy at all. Service was not proper as well. 2 drinks we requested were not available which is bizarr. If you got such a huge drinks menu then please mange your stock proper.

We had a fantastic dinner and drinks here last night! Great food, great staff and great atmosphere. We (3 people) shared the hummus plate, it was delicious and everyone got a decent portion. For mains we tried the Mother Hen burger and deboned chicken dish. Both were amazing, and would recommend. We would all love to come eat here again!

First of all the BEST roasted veggies I have ever had!! And then the steak🧐 medium rare of course, yet it was very tough... asked to change and they happily did so and then said it’s due to me not cutting with the grain ??? Have you ever heard of that, well I said ok you cut it for me as I can certainly not establish where this illusive grain is. They did so and guess what....still the same and maybe one of the most expensive steaks in town mind you. I believe their burgers are far better and yes it is Kosher which is a plus for many. This grain that grain, your grain .... never any grain for me again, thank you very much - I am now against the grain.

We had a horrible experience here over the Xmas period. The owner/manager is beyond rude. Almost laughable. We arrived and were having a nightmare with our baby and instead of offering to help he said “yeah you have your table till 8.30”. No welcome. No offer to help. The food orders were consistently wrong. The chicken wings were frozen inside. The waiters were very nice but were being shouted out by the manager in full view of the guests. The burgers were soggy. The shnitzel was dry. It’s a family restaurant with no high chairs (the first I’ve ever come across!) such a shame when this is the best offering for a kosher tourist in Cape Town. Such an unfriendly place! EDIT - in response to your reply. Dealing in turn with some of your points: It is not out of your control to welcome your guests as a visitor to any restaurant might expect to be welcomed - with a smile and a casual greeting. I was not suggesting that you could in fact have helped with our situation on the pavement outside your restaurant but it is common courtesy to ask people who seem to be struggling if they are ok and if you can help. Instead the very first thing that came out of your mouth was that you needed the table back by 8:30pm. Your point about would we complain if you had 4 high chairs and they were all in use - that is one of the weirdest arguments I have ever heard for not having any high chairs. I can't believe you're being serious there. When you say I should have approached you rather than waiting to get home to hit the keyboard - your demeanour is utterly unapproachable, you saw what had happened outside the restaurant and you showed no desire to made any sort of 'plan'. The fact that you did not interact with us for the first half hour of our visit is because you spend the entire time with your back to all guests - whether you are on the phone or not that seems particularly strange. The only times you didn't have your back to the restaurant was when my husband brought his frozen wings to you and when you went outside for a cigarette. The waiter did offer for the food to be remade but the food had taken so long to come that we wouldn't have had time to eat the re-made food before you would have had to turn the table.

מסעדה כשרה בשכונת סי פוינט. מבחר מנות, חלקן טובות וחלקן פחות. I recently visited the Kosher Press Bar & Grill in Seapoint. The food was good and the portions were generous. I especially enjoyed the grilled ribs. However, the atmosphere was a bit lacking. It was quite loud and busy, which made it difficult to have a conversation. The decor was also a bit outdated and could use some sprucing up. Overall, I would recommend the Kosher Press Bar & Grill for the kosher food.

GREAT Food, amazing staff, and awesome atmosphere. The owner was interactive and treated his staff and customers. The food was amazing and great care was taken in making it. The Risotto Balls are to DIE FOR. Went a second time and was EVEN better. The cocktails are fantastic, the burgers, wings, and riblets are great. No complaints at all.

We just had a wonderful dinner of burgers here. We truly enjoyed our experience. I had pescatarian and my wife had simple simon. What a filling serving and truly delicious food! They even went the extra mile of preparing our order; since frying is a challenge due to electricity - they exerted effort to accommodate our orders. They were interactive with us and even volunteered to take our photo outside the resto. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening in Seapoint.

First time visit to this kosher establishment and was very happy with the friendly service and great hamburgers! My host's wife raved about the hake and chips and the atmosphere was lively. Will definitely return.

The steak was delicious but a bit on the fatty side. I expected more of the fat to be cut away at those prices. Great service. Our party was 12 or so. The service was totally fine.

Back again a few years later with the family by Goldies and the added restaurant, The Press. The service is still the best. The menu is up-beat and the food is filling. Portion sizes are perfect, its taste bud experience excellence! 5 Stars
