Just had an underwhelming experience at this restaurant. You would swear a place called Cape Town fish market would mean business, but unfortunately it was a total letdown. For starters we ordered the mussels, the sauce was cold. We asked the waiter to warm it up for us, but it came back lukewarm. The sauce was overpowering the mussels. The bread was not fresh nor toasted to give it a crunch. Some of the mussels tasted very offish and the meal left an undesired after taste. Ordered the beef burger that was on special, the burger also was not fresh, it lacked taste and flavour. The patty kept on breaking in pieces. The team was friendly no doubt they tried making the experience bearable. Not worth the money.

Perfection is this place. This was our first food stop in Cape Town. We were lucky to get an outdoor table, because this place was so full. The menu has changed since the last time I was here which made me so excited. Freshest seafood, excellent service, this place has to be a stop when you visit the 021.

Good seafood at prices less outrageous than some other establishments at the V&A Waterfront. I really enjoyed my West Coast Poitjie, although the Seaford Curry was possibly even better. The Seafood Noodles were not served with baby calamari heads as advertised on the menu picture. I don't recommend the cocktails; my mojito was way too sweet - too much Roses Lime Cordial rather than real limes - very disappointing.

We went into the restaurant for lunch. The staff was amazing and very friendly. They allowed us to move the reservation on the day when we were running late. The restaurant is on the waterfront, so the views are amazing, especially on a sunny day. I had the prawn tacos as my starter. This was a fair portion and tasted nice. The prawn was deep fried, and they were served on a bed of veggies within the taco. For my main, I had the seared salmon with onion rings. The salmon tasted as expected, and the portion was good. It comes either in 200 or 280 gram portions. For dessert, I wanted the chocolate mud pie, but unfortunately, they were sold out. I had the Mulva with cream and ice cream. This was fresh and tasted as one would expect. Would definitely return.

Excellent food, nice service 👍 We'll come back if they like. Update: unfortunately I must revise my evaluation as we tried to visit twice again, but they refused admission due to some weird issues in the kitchen. Restaurant, however, was not at all booked and we had a proper reservation. Disappointing!

The Cape Town Fish Market is an amazing experience. The atmosphere is inviting, refreshing, and calming. The staff are well trained, as I haven't experienced any issues from my previous experiences there, which couldn't be resolved respectfully. The quality of the food and beverages is impeccable, and there is a wide range to choose from. I highly recommend it.

We love visiting CTFM at the Waterfront as they serve the most amazing, fresh sushi! There prices are great and the atmosphere is vibrant with friendly staff.

The people were very friendly. The food and drinks were fast and well present. I think the main issue I can't give it a good rating is because the food was lacking something... I would say salt but I added salt and something was still lacking... I don't know, need an expert. I had the T-bone and a Crayfish on the side with some chips also.

We stopped by this place during their off time (early in the afternoon during the week day.) We really liked the food. See pictures. My salmon salad was so good that I keep telling people about it even now. We also got a large seafood platter that was amazing. I don't remember now how much the bill was, but it wasn't a lot. If we are ever back in Capetown we'll be back to this restaurant. Maybe to try more of their seafood selection.

Nice low carb options here. Good food, perfect sized portions and served pretty quickly with a generous supply of sushi ginger. It is a little pricey but on par for the area. The salmon poke bowl was made per our request for no rice and with zucchini/courgette noodles instead. Really enjoyed the three spicy tuna rose sushi things pictured upper center. The other roses do contain rice so watch out if you are low carb. There are plenty of fried options including the fried fish my husband ordered. Pictured here in the lower center.

Really love their prawn cocktail, it was served hot and crunchy. Also calamari is fresh and soft. Went for late lunch around 4 pm so it was not crowded. Service was fast. Nice atmosphere with chilling weather.

Saturday was a lunch date day with my son, and as we were both craving seafood, we headed to a favourite of ours, Cape Town Fish Market at V and A Waterfront. It was such a beautiful day in Cape Town and the Waterfront was buzzing. Seated at a table with a view and breeze (thankfully!), we chatted, people watched (me), eyes on the footie (Daniel) and enjoyed a sumptuous seafood lunch. We've been going to CTFM for years and this branch consistently delivers on great service, good vibes and delicious food. Always a winner. Thank you CTFM!

It was a first for my clients at Cape Town Fish Market and YOU have to go! This cozy restaurant at the V&A Waterfront has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, we were served by the sweetest soul lady Barbara and the manager on the floor was an absolute delight hahahaha Bubbles! We love that guy!😃 We really enjoyed the experience and it was because of his great energy and friendly personality, delicious dishes, and beautiful presentation that made me and my clients feel at home. We will be back!

Definitely not a fine dining venue. We were a table of 10 people which makes for a fair review. The food was okay with hits and misses. It reminds me of a seafood takeaway. The location is excellent. Obviously V&A has the best location. Our waiter Brian was superb. But then again we were not a demanding crowd compared to the other large tables near us. I wish some people would have manners regardless of circumstances. What a disgusting bunch of women, rude to waiters and disregard for other patrons, money definitely does not buy class in these cases. The food portions were value for money in some cases and others not. Prawns were overcooked. The main fish was tiny, definitely not worth the price. The rest was okay. It's a good venue for a chillaxed eating, which can be pricey. The set menu price R550 upwards on the website differs from the in-store price by a huge margin. Not sure what that was about. From R188 to R334 online. Is this tourist pricing during the season? This is terrible if this is the norm. I have friends who refuse to visit Cape Town due to this behaviour of businesses charging different prices when it suits them. My first time trying a different setup, not sure if I will return.

What a great way to end our last meal for the day. I ordered the mixed Poke bowl, but without the 7spice and rice. The chef accommodated me with lettuce instead. Food was fresh and filling. Will definitely be back

Great service! The fish was super fresh and amazing. The cheese and garlic bread was small but very good and would get again. The poppers were fairly good. The sushi was very fresh tasting but mayo on all of them. The place was cute and had plenty of seating. Would go here again.

The other half just wanted to eat out and we didn’t want to have something too heavy so we opted for seafood and saw CTFM was recommended. Made our way down at 8pm and got seated almost immediately. Server was Siya, and we proceeded with our order as soon we were ready. Remember me saying that we didn’t want to have anything heavy so we opted for 4 pcs of fresh oyster and mussels for the starters. We also opted for Executive Surf and Turf since my missus wouldn’t mind some meat. And I thought a bit of prawns and squids should complement the whole dinning experience. When the starters were finished, and came the main, we were shocked. A big platter was staring at us. “I” contemplated a while and I thought I should ask Siya if I had ordered surf and turf or platter. He told me platter. It occurred to me that he did mention that the main doesn’t come with crayfish like the illustration in the menu which I acknowledged, however I did not expect my surf to have evolved to a platter. He did ask if we wanted fries, onion rings or veg beside the rice. We said onion rings. And I did not see any onion rings. And why would I have ordered mussels for starters when the platter has a portion of it. I was also thinking why wasn’t I asked about how would I like the steak to be done? If you were to ask me, CTFM is overpriced compared to Ocean Basket and OB tasted so much better. And of course when it came to the billing part, I just opted to round up the bill instead of a customary 10-15% tips I supposed. I got a cold shoulder from my server. LOL. Any probable diners, do double check the orders with your server before he heads back to the kitchen for your order. Lousy dinning experience and the take aways are sitting in the fridge now as I’m typing this. I hope the hotel can heat it up for me in the morning.
