I literally had the best time at Karibu Restaurant. I had the 3 Course Meal and everything was absolutely to die for. The Cocktails were amazing and don't get me started with how friendly and welcoming the staff is. They really made my birthday extra special on Monday 02/08/21. I would highly recommend this Beautiful Restaurant. A special thank you to our waitress "Thandi" I really hope I got your name correctly but you were fantastic.

I chose the Devil’s Peak Braai and it turned out to be a big disappointment. The meat was way too tough and ultimately not edible, only the venison sausage was decent. When I complained I got offered a free dessert which was a nice reaction. The dessert looked great and it tasted okay, but was again not something that would make me come back. All in all, the ingredients for the dishes seem to be of very poor quality and prices are far too high. There are various places right next door which offer much better food at more reasonable prices!

Stopped for a quick lunch, we sat outside and got amazing views of the table mountain. Service was friendly and courteous, food and drinks were delivered quickly and we enjoyed people watching as we had our lunch. The restaurant has loads of indoor dinning which will be appropriate for the days when the weather isn't so good. Toilets were clean. For my main meal I had the lamb shank - it was nicely prepared. Just fell off the bone. For dessert I had the Cape Brandy Pudding.. I found the dough to be a bit too suggy for my liking. O would definitely try a different desert on my next visit. All in all, it was a lovely place to have lunch and would recommend it.

Went to celebrate my friends birthday here. The springbok carppaccio was delicious, soft and tender. My steak was cooked to a perfect medium and juicy on the inside. The desserts were also amazing. The place itself is breathtaking. Our waiter was super friendly and was happy to take pictures of us when we asked.

Sadly, this restaurant turned out to be more hype than anything else. They had Cape Malay food and some interesting dishes on their menu, so we decided to give it a chance. Our drinks weren’t bad. My non alcoholic mojito was good, the Karina kiss came with a chocolate elephant that was appreciated and the peach Bellini tasted fine (even if it came without a stirrer and needed to be stirred with a knife) For starters we ordered grilled calamari which was salty, the prawn cocktail - the prawns weren’t fresh, the crayfish - wasn’t bad. I ordered a Cape Malay chicken curry as we have loved the cape Malay curries we have had over the last few days and a putu & chakalaka as a side. My dining companions opted to wait for the starters before deciding their mains, as portion sizes in this part of the country have been much larger than Joburg. The portion sizes were tiny, but given our disappointment with the starters, they opted not to order anything else. I requested our server to just bring my main course as the others wouldn’t be ordering. It took 45 minutes for my mains to arrive. The curry was stodgy, the quality/taste of chicken wasn’t good and it didn’t taste fresh. The putu tasted like it had been sitting uncovered and drying out for awhile before it was served under the chakalaka (which wasn’t bad), but we just couldn’t eat it. And after tasting everything, we just decided to pay the bill and leave. When the manager approached us, we explained what l problems we had with the food, she offered a 10% discount for us to be used at another occasion, but after an experience like this, we wouldn’t go back even for free. Karibunis a tourist trap. Avoid as far as possible.

Would highly recommend Karibu restaurant if you're in Cape Town! We came here for our first night in the city and loved it! The entertainment was authentic and really fun, and the food was fantastic. We tried a lot of local dishes and game meat, and really enjoyed it. We were celebrating our honeymoon, and our server Clever went above and beyond to make sure that we had a really special experience. Can't wait to come back some day!

My partner ordered the catch of the day and was told this would be a soft, white, flakey fish. However, it was very chewy and tasteless. She was offered another dish instead but was charged for the second more expensive dish. This in itself would not have been a problem, but she was only given 6 prawns for a main meal which wouldn't fill anyone up. Because of this we left no tip due to the issues we had and then were harrased about it, making it extremely awkward. My food was nice but nothing to write home about.

The food over all was pretty good. I would recommend something that is a stew. The grilled meat was very bland, don't think there was any seasoning used. Atmosphere is nice if you can sit outside. Wait staff was extremely friendly and helpful

This restaurant is located in a fabulous spot with an amazing view of the Table Mountain. The service and crew here are extremely professional. I tried the Vegetarian Butternut with rice. My first time to savour South African cuisine and I am in love with it!

The service here was impeccable, the wine was wonderful. The waiters were attentive and quick and just made sure we had everything we needed. We ate the seafood, clam chowder, prawns and calamari. We got so sick and had a 16 hour plane ride home, needless to say it was awful. it’s been about 2 days and we are still not fully recovered. While eating it we thought the food was pretty bland and in need of seasoning. I just assumed they might have wanted the seafood to shine for itself. I really wish our experience ended differently. I am mainly writing this to bring attention so that others do not get sick. Again the service was impeccable I just wish the food was as high in quality.

The worst value for the price combination. The service is far below expectations given the pretenses rank of the dining restaurant. The food was just okay, although we had to replace one dish (was it rotten?). The drinks were disgusting (50% was sugar syrup?).

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Karibu Restaurant in V&A Mall, Cape Town, and I must say, it was an overall delightful experience. The restaurant's location is simply stunning, offering breathtaking sea views that enhance the dining atmosphere. As soon as I stepped inside, I was captivated by the restaurant's elegant interior. The tasteful decor and comfortable seating arrangements created a welcoming ambiance that immediately put me at ease. It's clear that a lot of thought and attention to detail went into designing the space. One aspect that truly stood out during my visit was the exceptional staff. The team at Karibu Restaurant was not only kind and courteous, but they also went above and beyond to ensure that I had a pleasant dining experience. Their attentive and supportive nature added an extra touch of warmth to the overall ambiance. One of the highlights of my visit was the live traditional events that took place during my meal. The restaurant truly embraced its cultural roots, providing a unique and immersive experience. The performances added an element of entertainment and allowed me to appreciate the rich heritage of the region. However, it's important to note that if you are a vegetarian or follow a Jain diet, this restaurant may not be the ideal choice. The menu options for those with specific dietary preferences seemed limited, which may leave some guests feeling disappointed. Overall, Karibu Restaurant in V&A Mall offers a fantastic dining experience with its stunning location, impressive interior, and attentive staff. If you're looking for a place to enjoy delicious food while taking in breathtaking views, I highly recommend paying a visit. Just make sure to check the menu beforehand if you have specific dietary requirements.

Updated review Following my initial review setting out our disappointing dining experience at Karibu, we were invited back for a do-over to celebrate our anniversary. Karibu went out of their way to make our next visit a VIP experience. From a warm welcome, fantastic table, friendly water and super tasty food to some personal touches with the dessert it was definitely a dining experience to remember. Special thanks to Owen, Tiana and Bradley. Feedback on the food: 1. Starters The 1st time I ordered the springbok carpaccio and bf had the bobotie spring rolls. Last night I opted for the calamari and sticking to what he knows is a winner, bf went with the spring rolls again. Verdict after both visits - Bobotie spring rolls are the clear winner for us! 2. Mains 1st time we had the ostrich fillet and sticky ribs. Last night we opted for ostrich fillet (again) as well as the rump. What a difference in the mains from the 1st visit to the 2nd! From presentation to execution, last night's mains were in a completely different league. Last night we also had baked butternut which was the perfect pairing to the meat as oppose to the chips and wedges from our previous visit. 3. Desserts To end off the evening, we received a dessert platter to share with Amarula truffles (anything with Amarula is a winner) and a South African favourite, malva pudding. This was really a fantastic way to end our anniversary do-over! Thank you to Karibu. This experience just solidified again that any establishment deserves a second chance and if given they might surprise you! I have given an overall rating of 4 (average between the 1st times 3 star and last night's 5 star experience). We will be back for another 5 star experience!

Service a bit slow would of been nice to have something to snack on whilst waiting. Prices where what you'd expect at V&A but food was good and waiter was friendly.

The food was extremely disappointing. The presentation was not bad but upon tasting, it was terrible. The steak and ribs were dry, curry tasteless. One would expect better quality from a restaurant at such a prime location. Will most definitely not be going back.

Friendly and not over bearing staff. Food was great. I had the game meat platter last time I was here and it was so good to try all the different meats. Had a steak this time coz have had it all. Also happened to have African music dance group when we had dinner so that was good.

Went for early diner with my wife, all was good save for the piece of borne that came of my mouth, while I was enjoying the lamb and sugar bean soup, as sharp as it was it could hurt me on another day! I did ask the waiter, whom I came to a conclusion he was still on training, he told me bones are too be expected in the soup, even though there is no warning of such on the menu! Lastly I hoped the manager would come by to acknowledge the incident but that didn't happen, even we wer the only table in the restaurant at the time, we assumed the gentleman who was wearing a different uniform by the bar could be the manager, I hope he wasn't because if he was he showed little to no interest in us

Our group had a very nice time at the restaurant tonight. The men ordered the safari platter which was ostrich, springbok, Kudu, impala, three warthog sausages, venison sausage and finally a nice piece of rump steak. Our server, Brian did an excellent job taking care of us! We also enjoy the dancers who came in.

Visiting South Africa for the first time with my South African wife we came across this marvelous restaurant at the V&A Waterfront. First of all Elijah our server was amazing. His spirt and passion to treat us so welcome was an experience never to forget. Thank you so much Elijah for all the wonderful food recommendations you gave us and for being so welcoming to us. Also, thank you to Daniel for recommending such good tasting wine. An over all beautiful experience to our dining experience. Truly recommend this restaurant to everyone.

What a great surprise! I need to confess: I was sceptic before I got there. T'he confirmation: there were plenty of tourists there and the prices were pretty high compared to other places. BUT! The food was SO delicious. That was not the best though: the best was Ziyanda's attention, so sincere and so kind. I have been ten days in South Africa and she provided us by far the best attention. Thanks So very much, Ziyanda, you were really GREAT!

Excellent Service. Great Wine Selection. Great Live Performances by Traditional Dancers and Choir. If you're South African and know and appreciate South African Cuisine, you might be slightly disappointed, as everything on the menu at Karibu is not all that it seems. The food tasted rather bland and normal rice was passed as "2nd grade basmati rice" (as per the manager on duty). However, if you're a foreigner, not knowing South African Cuisine, you will love the experience.

We started our first "family meal" for 2021 on a high note. Lunch at Karibu was delicious (2 Course deal on Hyperli). The bread sticks are magical, the steak was divine (many other options to choose), the dessert was dreamy (we chose Khalua Truffles & Choc Brownie), the staff are friendly and attentive, the venue is beautiful (arty decor, we love the giant wire Baobab Tree) and the location is breathtaking (V&A Harbour). Definitely worth a visit. Use the special on Hyperli or Wikideals and get more bang for your buck. This was a family treat with a feel good factor. Please support local restaurants. The restaurant fully implemented COVID safety protocols and we had a lovely dining experience with shopping afterwards at the V&A Mall. No crowds and it was a blissful Sunday with my loved ones.

We had the pleasure of celebrating our anniversary at this beautiful place. I'm in awe of the service we received. The food was absolutely delicious and the friendliest and most efficient staff I had come across in a long time. This will definitely be my go to venue for any event and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a beautiful venue with good food. Thank you Karibu for making our event special and memorable

[update] I thought I'd expand on this due to COVID. The tables were adequately spaced and before we were seated, they sent a team to santise the table & chairs and surrounds. Everybody who approached the tables wore masks and gave us the opportunity to don ours before approaching. The food was great and we had some wine recommendations from the waiter which proved to be spot on. Good starters and mains. They platter-fied our 5x starters and they arrived perfectly for sharing. As the evening wore on, they politely reminded us there was a curfew, but gave us adequate time to pace the meal and enjoy the company. I've been there before, will be back again.
