This has to be one of my favorite dining experiences! Chef Julia is so kind and brings everyone into the lower level of her home to serve incredible, thoughtful dishes around a communal table. Here you’ll be able to try multiple local wines which have dishes created to pair perfectly with them. You’ll also be able to chat with others from South Africa and all around the world while you enjoy the food. Even if you just went and ate her unbelievable bread, you’d be happy. I can’t wait to book it again, as the menu changes frequently as things go in and out of season.

WOW I am absolutely blown away by this experience and after trying all of the fine dining experiences in Cape Town, they all kind of blend together but Julia’s cooking is something that I will always remember. It’s unique and refreshing to see a chef with so much talent, compassion, and creativity take on the challenge of creating something totally outside the box and make dinner clubs accessible. Especially after the years we’ve had, we could all use an excuse to start talking to people again. We started the dinner with a wine hour in Julia’s backyard. It’s easy to forget that she actually lives above the kitchen so this is her home! The first course was the line fish, which was the best bite of fish I’ve had in Cape Town, no joke. Julia curates the menu each week with whatever is available through the local farms she sources her produce from. She also comes out and explains each course and the wine pairings, which is a much better experience than at any restaurant because you’re actually talking to the chef! Her staff work in the kitchen connected to the dining area, which you walk through to access the bathroom, so you can see all of the cooking in action. Not only was the food interesting, but the wine pairings were spectacular. We took photos of each wine because we enjoyed them so much- we went to La Colombe the next night and one of the wine pairings was the same as Julia’s! Not sure if I’m allowed to say this but La Colombe is overrated and Reverie is, if anything, underrated and you need to book a seat ASAP!

Julia has created a very unique dining experience that we haven’t experienced before. The concept is a shared table with other guests from around the world, where you change seats throughout dinner so you get to know everyone making it very enjoyable. The food courses were amazing and the service was top notch! We met people from Germany, Paris, Australia, Texas and locals from Cape Town (always a good sign). With a single booking per evening make sure you plan in advance, you won’t be disappointed!

Amazing hospitality by Julia. The concept is really great, with changing menu and a great atmosphere. 5 courses including wine pairing. The food was really creative and delicious - some of the best we had in Capetown and in general. The evening lasted for about 4.5-5 hours so take into consideration!

We had the most amazing time at Julia’s place as a group of 18 people. She and her team created a phenomenal food experience. From the welcome drink in the backyard, to all the lovely food and wine pairings, explanations..so much thoughtfulness that went into it. Totally loved the concept of all ingredients being locally sourced!! We were very lucky to have had Rob from Remhoogte Wine Estate there as well, which added another layer to the evening learning about the whole process and heritage behind each wine. It felt like a dinner at a friends place, all of us sitting in the living room, getting up chatting to each other between courses. Though it is a fine dining experience it doesn’t come with the stiffness of it. Julia is a fantastic host, that adds a lot of warmth and kindness to the place and we all felt very much at home. Can’t wait to be back ❤️

Thank you Julia for such a wonderful evening! From start to finish (and I had not realised how late it was until we got back to our hotel!), you were a wonderful chef and host. Your welcome was warm, the good served was exquisite, and the company of strangers was such fun! All of the dishes, with local ingredients, eloquently described, were presented beautifully, and with fantastic small batch wines to accompany them. Actually it was the food that accompanied the wine, but that’s a story for Julia to tell! This was a really enjoyable dining experience and highly recommended. Thank you!

I’ve traveled all over the world, and this is easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. My husband and I ate here last evening (7/19/23). We are on a 10 year anniversary trip and making reservations here was at the top of our list. I do not have photos to share because the focus was spent on enjoying the moment. But the menu was delicious, local produce, fish, and meats, and the wines were wonderful (we left with purchasing 2 bottles). Julia and the staff are absolutely delightful, and they’ve clearly studied a list of diner names, because they all remembered individual names. The value of this meal can’t be beat. We were there for 5 hours. There was no rushing of courses in order to encourage conversation, but everything still felt perfectly timed. It’s clear Julia is passionate about her business, cares about the employees, and enjoys the customer’s chatter as much as we all did. What a beautiful experience. I will remember this for the rest of my life, and if ever I am lucky enough to be back in this beautiful City, I will returned to Reverie Social Table. Everyone passing through Cape Town should visit this establishment.

Oh, what a night! After a week in South Africa, we were THRILLED to finish our trip with an evening at Reverie Social Table. Our experience from start to finish was top notch. I reached out with several inquiries before booking our reservations, knowing we had 2 vegans and a tree nut allergy in our party. I wasn't sure if accommodations were possible, and I was assured that knowing that information ahead of time, would make for a delightful evening. So, we booked, and I'm happy to say, all 4 of us said it was our favorite experience of our ENTIRE trip! When entering the restaurant for the evening we were greeted with wine, given time to mingle among the other guests (2 from France, 2 from Dubai/US, 3 from Denmark, 2 from US, and then our party of 2 from the US and 2 from the UK). After happy hour we gathered around Julia's beautiful custom made 18-seater table for the most wonderful 5 course meal. Almost all of the dishes fit everyone's dietary needs (there were 2 meat dishes but Julia prepared gorgeous vegan options for our 2 vegans and 1 vegetarian in the group). My brother said, "You could have convinced me that this aubergine dish was pork belly, and I've never said that about vegan food before!" In addition, the space was spectacular for this exact experience. The library area was quaint and lovely, the terrace was refreshing and clean, and the restrooms were clean, homey and cozy in the best way! The entire team (3 individuals) made the night perfect. Each individual was friendly, personable, and kind. Their hard work, making the entire evening (about 5 hours) smooth, seamless, and enjoyable, does not go unnoticed. Thank you! We HIGHLY recommend this experience to anyone looking for something different, an emersion of cultures, a social gathering with the most remarkable strangers, and the most beautiful evening of laughing, talking, eating, and enjoying each other. We were honored to have a unique experience of bonding the chef with the guests and the food. A win-win for everyone! Cheers, Julia!

Absolutely Amazing! What an AMAZING experience. You are instantly welcomed into Julia's "home" like family. The social nature of the dining experience is only surpassed by the extraordinary culinary, wine, and service experience. Each dish is creatively prepared with expert precision and creativity. MENU Julia shapes the menu based on the freshest ingredients she can source from local purveyors. You feel as though you are dining with friends in Julia's home vs. a sterile restaurant. SERVICE The service staff anticipates your needs. We never once had to request bread, butter, water, wine, or anything. It was a masterclass in service. WINES It is clear that the wines are not accidentally paired, but Julia crafts each course to perfectly pair with its wine. We arrived at 6:30PM and before we knew it, it was 11PM and the table was filled with satisfied friends who had become like family during the course of the evening. OVERALL This was one of our favorite dining experiences that we have had anywhere in the world. One of us has dietary restrictions (gluten and dairy). Julia's team adapted each course to give that guest the full experience. They even produced their own gluten-free bread (which was fantastic). Whereas many places will accommodate dietary restrictions with something underwhelming, Julia's team embraced those restrictions in such a way that the guest had every bit of a culinary experience that the rest of us enjoyed. We cannot recommend Reverie any higher. Book in advance, and prepare for a great evening!

Incredible world class cuisine for amazing price value. The staff and the chef are super passionate and deliver an unforgettable food and social experience. The menu is shaped around the wines and not the other way around - quite unique concept. The chef personally introduces every dish by taking you on a journey across some of the best South African wines that are paired with the food. The 18 guests are seated together and this creates a very intimate home-like experience. Can't recommend enough.

This is how it should be done. Brilliant food, brilliant service and constant interaction with the chef. So friendly and accommodating. Don't drive here. Use an Uber. The wine is paired to the meal and not to drink the wine or limit intake is like bathing with your socks on... It's pricey but so worth it. Skip paying taxes if you must - why let the government use your taxes to eat at places like this? Booking is essential.

The food, the wine, the service and the ambience were all amazing. Chef Julie, Melissa and the rest of the staff were attentive, accommodated quite a few dietary restrictions at our table and explained the wine pairings and food before each course. Four and a half hours flew by without us realising it, and we can only recommend this experience as a ‘must do’ when you’re in Cape Town.

Went here with some friends on a trip to Cape Town. It was definitely a great experience, but I did find it to be relatively expensive compared to other meals we had in Cape Town. However, if you're a "foodie" and into the "farm to table" concept, this will be right up your alley.

Utterly fantastic experience at Reverie Social Table on the final night of our honeymoon in Cape Town! Met some lovely people from all different countries and walks of life. The food was delicious and paired perfectly with local wines. Julia is a great host and so knowledgeable and friendly. Wow! This has been one of my favourite dining experiences in all of my travels. Chef Julia and her team are extraordinary and great all diners as though they are friends and family. From the moment that you enter you are greeted by the chef and welcomed with a glass of wine. You then mingle with all of your fellow diners while the finishing touches are prepared. The meal itself is served family style and the chef served each course explaining the dish and the wine pairing. As a group we chose to have diners move around so that you could talk to new people. The food was absolutely delicious and the wine paired perfectly with each course. I celebrated my birthday and the group all sang happy birthday to me! All in all, I had an amazing and memorable experience and I cannot wait to visit again! Many thanks to Reverie Social Table!

If you love food, good company, an good wine, then you must visit Reverie at least once in your life. I have been twice, for different occasions, and loved both of the experiences. Julia, the chef, and her team create a truly unique dining experience, which warms your heart long after you've left the table. For my first visit, I was anxious about being seated with strangers and having to force conversation. This concern turned out to be unfounded, as the atmosphere magically seems to get everyone to chat as if it were dinner among long-time friends.

My wife and I enjoyed dinner here one night during our stay in Cape Town in August 2022 and loved it. There were only 6 of us that night so was nice small group with Julia joining in intermittently. The food was excellent, unlimited wine (be careful!!), and the ambiance was perfect. Would absolutely recommend to travelers, 10/10.

The best restaurant so far. The foods were so delicious and very healthy. And the price for the food was great too. Me and my friend ordered a lunch menu, roast chicken, pineapple & rice salad. And we ate until the last one rice piece. The staff was very kind. And I think the idea of the restaurant is great. There are a big table for around 20 people to sit together. Even I don’t know anyone, I feel Im sharing the table with people for food and I could start talking to others. And they sell some artworks in the restaurant as well, which makes me feel Im eating in the gallery. There were 2 friendly, big dogs who laid down under the table. I will visit again before I leave Cape town.

What a spectacular meal and evening. Julia (the owner) is lovely, talented, modest, and compelling in her presentation of unique SA wine pairings. She and her team even accommodated last-minute awareness of one vegetarian and two gluten free guests in our party. We enjoyed sharing the taste-bud splendor with the other "social table" guests and meeting her handsome pup Luke by request at the end of our evening. All seven of us highly recommended this deliciously delightful culinary experience! Special thanks to Julia & team!

Reverie Social Table is my favorite restaurant I’ve ever been to, full stop. Chef Julia has a way of making delicious food and making everyone feel welcome. The food is fantastic (don’t sleep on the cheese course), the wine amazing, and the atmosphere that she cultivates is perfect. I’ve shared many meals at her table with family and friends and feel grateful that a restaurant like hers exists. If you have one meal in Cape Town, make it this one.
