The service was really good. The Cafe is located in quiet area so it's nice to sit street side on on the roof. I personally had the curry which absolutely delicious, the naan was really well made. Would definitely recommend. My company had the burger which was also really good.

Amazing place! We were a bit too late for brunch menu but the team still accommodated us in terms of getting eggs for breakfast. The food was delicious, the ambience under the trees is perfect, the service was sweet & helpful. Can’t wait to go back!

Love it. Charles Cafe is in the Old part of Cape Town (Waterkant), in the original house. They have seating outside and inside. Inside seating is in Separate *rooms* of the house. Outside, or on top, has a stunning view of the Waterkant and the City. Parking is always an issue in Cape Town. Food and coffee was great. Will go back

We were pleasantly surprised with this place! There are hundreds of coffee shop restaurants in Cape Town but this one is worth the visit! It actually feels like you are not in the city centre! The coffee was top notch and golden late was something else!

A great spot in De Waterkant with fantastic service and great views. A little bit pricier than I expected, so I opted for a croissant and coffee. Was delicious.

Super sweet staff serving delicious food in De Waterkant. Both breakfast and lunch were a delight. The vegan options are smashing, wholeheartedly recommend this!

We had the flapjacks and the Bacon Egg Benedict, it was so delicious! The Coffee and the homemade Ice Tea were the perfect add-on. The lovely and warm atmosphere and service made it the perfect breakfast experience!

Amazing place with the best service. The first breakfast we have had in Cape Town. We had the trout egg benedict and the croissant French toast with a dark chocolate drink and a spiced chai latte. You won’t regret coming here at all. Highly recommended.

The Charles has a superlative wine list, wonderful and knowledgeable staff and enjoyable food which can be a bit rich at times, while always tasty. Their beans come from Hout Bay coffee which means their coffee is out of this world. I have enjoyed breakfast benedicts and yummy burgers as well as dessert with excellent wine and return regularly.

Amazing place to sit and enjoy a breakfast. Coffee was n little bitter (maybe try Tribe, delux or run rabbit beans :-)

Stayed in Capetown for two nights nearby the Charles Cafe - it was so good the first night we went again on the second night also! The Cape Malay and Babootie (?) curry were fantastic. Also The Fox red wine was lovely!! Gorgeous local food and very generous servings. Cool setting /location ,and would definitely recommend it. Stan and his colleagues were great! Thanks very much!!

I really liked it. The food wasn't the best I've ever ate but I still very much enjoyed it. The service was pretty good and the atmosphere was simply amazing. I might have been playing Pokémon GO most of the time I was there but it was really enjoyable.

Really nice cafe with outdoor seating. The smoked trout eggs Benedict was very good as was the croissant French toast.

Came here for a glass of wine. Ended up drinking multiple glasses as well as having dinner. What a gem of a place! Best wine list I have seen in a long time! And I can recommend the Iberian pork wholeheartedly! (photo attached)

An incredible brunch experience. The Bloody Mary was 11/10, I’ll go back just for that. It’s also a lovely setting under the trees. The ground is a bit uneven, so those with mobility difficulties may need to be careful when navigating the sidewalk.

Every member of staff was warm and welcoming. We ended up on a beautiful rooftop overlooking De Waterkant and basking in morning sun. Their breakfast risotto was one of the most surprisingly delicious breakfast dishes I've had in a long time. Excellent coffee to boot. A really excellent place to spend a morning, although they offer lunch and dinner which we will be back for.

Great scenery and friendly staff. -1* Cutlery was dirty, I had to request clean utensils(it is well known that Typhoid fever is running wild in Western Cape right now, up your cleanliness PLEASE!). -1* I ordered the classic bacon & eggs, bacon was burnt - so burnt that it was impossible to pick up with a fork(I usually enjoy crispy bacon but this was rock hard). Eggs were good. Sourdough toast was perfect. -1* Mushrooms were overcooked and rubbery. @R110 the portion was tiny. Kitchen had no avos @ 10am?! There are so many stores nearby, take a walk to Spar which is 200m away(3min walk). My vegan friends were disappointed. I won't minus a star as this didn't effect my meal. If you want to charge premium prices you need to up the quality and quantity.

The service is excellent. The staff are friendly, helpful and on the ball. The food is delicious and the portions are a good size. Their Mimosas are the perfect ratio of bubbles are OJ. 😁 the venue it quaint, with a fire place for cold days and a beautiful roof top sun deck for sunny days. I love Charles, it’s definitely my favourite breakfast spot.

Breakfast was delicious and inexpensive. The staff was friendly, the latte's were great. A little understaffed, but we didn't have to wait long.

What a gem of a place! Nourishing healthy food (those flapjacks and currries!), but most of all, the service. The owner Mark and the crew of Allan and Stephen make you feel so welcome. Plus, you can sit under a gorgeous old tree next to the fountain. Good vibes all around. 10/10

Had one of the best wines here, the food was good too. The atmosphere was great and very calm

We went here every day we were in Capetown for breakfast, not because there aren't other good restaurants in the area but because we loved the servers and the atmosphere. Stan greeted us every morning and was great to talk to very friendly and informative. Likie(sp) was a wonderful waiter. The food was amazing, possibly the best mushrooms and tomatoes I've ever had with the classic eggs and bacon. The croissants were great and I loved the spiced chai latte. I loved the outdoor seating and the indoor seating weather dependant. It was really just wonderful.

This place was just around the corner from where we were staying and the food and service were so good that we went 3 days in a row! Found it strange that there was no vegetarian breakfast with eggs but there was a vegan one that I was able to add eggs to. The food was delicious, the staff were lovely and the space itself was very nice. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area.
