Lovely experience of authentic Portuguese food and hospitality. This family run restaurant is on top of the list to visit. Vinho Verde and the Super Bock is on tap. What's not to love.

Best Portuguese food in Cape Town, and quite comfortably so. When everybody in the joint is speaking the language then you know. Top class

We enjoyed our lunch at Caramba. The grilled sardines had a good texture and pretty fleshy. The chicken livers were delicious - it could've done with a bit more spice. Trinchado was tender and the sauce had a very mild chilli. Delicious fresh bread rolls to dunk in sauces. The Feijaoda - stew with beans , pork, chicken and chorizo was a fair portion size and also delicious. We enjoyed them Rock Shandy and they serve coke in a glass bottle. The meals are freshly prepared so you do wait a while. We managed to get free street parking.

Caramba is the restaurant you didn’t know you needed until you visit. The owner and staff are all amazing. Also, it really is authentic Portuguese cuisine with all its flavors and delicacies. The location is nestled right on the strip close to the V&A waterfront with choices of inside or outside seating. They have a backup generator in preparation for load sharing as well so you won’t have to eat in the dark. Highly recommend one of their authentic wines paired with their seafood dishes. You wing be disappointed.

Following the exceptional reviews I visited for a week night dinner. Ambiance far from expectation, casual and cold. Food was average and the Portuguese beer was just an expensive affair. Won't recommend for a romantic dinner 😕

Super lekka place! Family run. Exceptional service and food. I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND the savoury rice -best I've ever had. I also partial to their peri peri grilled calamari.

We do "international cuisine" date nights and Caramba was our choice of restaurant for Portuguese food. As my husband has been in Portugal many times, he knows the cuisine. Some of the traditional dishes were not available to order, no stock. This was a bit disappointing. The ones we did order was ok, not my favorite. Even my dish (not the sardines) were mush more salty than anticipated - although we knew it is salted cod fish, even my husband said it was too salty for a "salted cod fish" dish which he's had many times in Portugal. It's nice that one can bring your own wine, there's corkage. Maybe next time I will just try something else.

My wife booked us for my 50th birthday It started out OK with sardines and bread, but went down hill at mains, prego was flavorful but small,(McCain chips, according to the owner) not very authentic I'm afraid. Bland fiogada, service was flat. Not a good experience. Over priced nandos on my humble opinion

Chicken is very very good. Bacalhau SA was terrible, overpriced & under plated, no flavour, 2 small potatoes served with it when you paying R240, codfish fritters terrible, hardly any bacalhau in them, super small, super expensive, risoles overpriced under plated hardly any filling. Bacalhau com natas no bacalhau in it, more cream than anything overpriced under plated. Only recommended for the chicken not for anything else and the lady that's cooks is unfriendly ubrupt. Rather go to Petiscos in blouberg or Vasco Da gama pub down the road from this Caramba

An intimate restaurant with fantastic Portuguese food, we had the Caramba platter, tasty and enough for two to share, we certainly will visit them again.

It's OK. Service was unfriendly. We each had the Prego steak and Prego chicken. Portion size was ok, served with poor quality reconstituted chips. Taste was a solid 7\10 There are better lunch or supper option nearby

If you're two, order the seafood platter, super delicious and nice portion! The whole place feels very southern Portugal
