Mariams Kitchen ForeShore

Restaurant Fast food restaurant Halal restaurant

🫤 Food is tasty but extremely unhealthy. Staff is very arrogant. Cleanliness is questionable. I have found hair in my take away. Also when you buy 50+ samosas you expect atleast one Dip free. But that was refused quite rudely People often mention steak, sandwich, good, Gatsby, chicken, masala, service, chips, salomie, great,

Decent food though a little pricey.Ordered a Vienna Chip roll today with BBQ spice.they forgot the spices so a plain chip roll. Hence 3 stars for not getting the order right and the high prices. They where not busy so that could not have affected the order.

Really not what I expected when I ordered a chicken salad. It was saturated with watery mayonnaise and the chicken was bad. It looks more like a tuna mayo salad. I tried to eat it but it ended up in the bin. It was a total waste.. however the steak masala sandwich was enjoyed🤷‍♀️

The steak in my salomie and half moons were old, tasted off and bitter. I’ve been a customer of Miriam’s for over 8 years and I am quite disappointed. I used to joke that “Miriam’s never misses” whenever eating from there because their food was that good. When I called the store now, they were quite dismissive and invalidated me by saying that they haven’t had any other complaints today. Very disappointing experience and poor customer service!

I had the Full Boerewors Gatsby which cost me R170.00 and I Expected something fantastic for That price. BUT, instead I was cheated. The Sausage was cut length-ways just to cover the chips..Why?!.. Change the name to Sausage Pattie Gatsby rather, and cut the price in half, That would better describe what I ate. ..I mean, the Boerewors was the Highlight of the meal & it Disappointed Massively!!.. Who advertises Boerewors & serves sausage patties?..Why?.. For the price, it's NOT worth it!!..

I feel the quality has really slipped. When you go to Mariams you expect quality food that has great taste which also doesn't break the bank. I ordered a Masala steak sandwich full house. What I got was masala spice with steak in it. It was over spicy and the steak tasted like it was standing for a while. It was hard and dry. All it takes is one bad experience to turn you off of a place.

This restaurant really needs an upgrade. I love the food which is why I still go back after almost 10 years in the cape but not much has changed inside , I'm pretty sure even the menu is the same

The food was decent, quite over hyped, I had about 3 meals there so far, on separate occasions, twice I did not receive sauce, even upon requesting.

If you enjoy Cape Malay type food, Mariams Kitchen is the place for you. It's been around for many years and the food is guaranteed to be delicious every time. My favourite is the steak salomie.

Perfect little lunch spot for when you want something traditional but don’t feel like cooking, I usually get the bean salomi/ roti (vegetarian) or opt for the steak. The paratha (Malay roti) is super flaky and crispy!

I was really excited to visit Mariam's Kitchen since I haven't been there for a while. The last memories I had of the business was that I got good service and great food that was really value for money. This time around I am less than pleased with my purchase as I felt a little bit let down. As in the attached photo, the portion size is far less than satisfactory for the price paid neither was the taste that I remembered so fondly(I never argue about price but I do expect value), and has rather lessoned the experience. That being said, I doubt I will ever be returning to this establishment and the lack of customers should have been a heads up to me. Shame

I honestly don't care if it's deliverys fault. Your packaging is supposed to be protective for DELIVERY purposes. I received my steak salmoie and the curry is spilled all over the packaging. The incorrect cooldrink was given as well and even the cooldrink was messed with curry. I'm very sorry but you guys are pathetic. You cannot put a heavy cooldrink item in the same bag as a FOAM bucket. Unless the foam bucket is in a bag on its own, keeping the contents together tightly. I'm very very very disappointed. You guys have the audacity to put your phone line on busy when you have clients to see to. I'm not going to leave here it here. My mother won't even serve me a Roti like this.

The thing about this place is that the food is always perfectly fresh and hot, not once did i get cold soggy food. The chips are always fried to perfection, thick, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Placed order via telephone and collected in person. Employee who assisted was very attentive and payed attention to detail when taking the order, despite the noise in the background due to activity with other customers. The meals are up to standard and portions are sizeable. Enjoyed the Gatsby and im sure to bring more friends with me the next time around 😊

Always a great meal, fresh tasty. I must have been buying from here for as long as I can remember. I'm not sure how long they have been there, but it could be as much as 20 years or more. Always clean, always friendly and open for business.

What a disaster on all levels . Food took 35 to 40 minutes to arrive. Many people were waiting and complaining to the staff and their excuse was that they were short staffed . If you were short staffed then tell your customers BEFORE THEY PAY FOR THEIR FOOD that you are short staffed and it will be a long wait . That way the customer can decide if they want to wait or not. To add further insult to waiting 40 minutes , when I got home with my food I discovered that the Steak gatsby I had ordered did not have any steak on it ! They forgot to put steak on it so it was just chips and salad . I will never , ever step foot in there again as this was not the first time they have messed up . Absolutely pathetic.

Not very compliant with Covid protocol, most of the staff serving customers don't wear their masks properly, prices is pathetic for the amount of food given, won't be back soon

Went here the other day for a quick snack and drink. The woman behind the counter was super helpful and friendly, plus the coffee and donut snacks were ridiculously cheap for CT city center. Can recommend.

Poorly presented food not consistent with the price However the chicken samosas for takeaway were tasty crisp fresh & reasonable. 3* only no competition for Burger King opposite

The rating needs to be reviewed, the food is not great , we ordered the steak Gatsby which was tasteless. The place needs to be cleaned especially if they serving food to the public.

Very nice fast food restaurant in Cape Town central. The restaurant serves traditional Malay type meals including fast foods. The staff is very friendly and service is good. You can sit inside or outside to enjoy your meals. The traditional Salomie is a must to try.

Food was good, as always however they could keep a better handle on cleanliness. Most tables were dirty when we arrived.

  • 5/5 Shaolin C. 1 year ago on Google
Is a curry and roti junk? Well regardless one of my top eateries. The salomie is a nice flaky roti, not a flippin wrap. The curry is tangy, spiced nicely and juicy with lots of meat(I had a steak) with that famous onion and coriander vinegar salad.

The original Mariam's Kitchen Parking is a bit tricky because there aren't toò many parking bays and it's a busy little road. Ordered 2 toasted masala steak with chips, onion and salad sandwiches eat in, and a toasted chicken and mayo with chips to go. Waited a bit and was called to collect the chic first , they then realized the bigger part of the order wasn't with it and told us to wait . No problem good food takes time. The toasted steak did not disappoint!!! Yummy, delicious and it hit the proverbial spot!! The chicken on the other hand was bad. The photograph looks yummier than the actual sandwich. Hardly mayo, counted about 5 or 6 chips on it , the chicken was a clump of something in-between two slices of limp toast. It did not travel well either and looked even more unappetizing when I handed it over to my son. So , as with many food places these days , eating it there is always better than TAKE (ing) it OUT ☺

What a waste of money. Worst chip roll ever. Chips were hard and old. Basically had a roll with “kayangs” on. I’ll never recommend Mariams to anyone. Very disappointed!

I'm an ESL facilitator, and the theme of my lesson was Cape Malay culture and food. My lesson started off in Bo - Kaap and ended at the restaurant. The students enjoyed the service, and food, tremendously. Additionally, they were impressed by the customer care they received. Therefore, my ESL class and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Eh, the food is honestly very average. Even a steak masala sandwich lacks flavor, i'm just disappointed. Not much else to say. Bland food and the establishment is not very clean. Don't think I'll be returning.

The places looks very tragic, in desperate need of a revamp. The food is average. The salomi needs to come with a packet of rennies for the heart burn you will experience afterwards.

I was there on the 5 July 2020 got a masala steak sandwich and it was disgusting the steak was dry barely and masala if thats what they called that taste. I would not advise anyone to go to this place it's a waste of money eve the samosas where thrown away. Walked over to Burger King and got a better meal there. Maruams Kitchen is no off my list of places to get food . Totally disgusted
