Good authentic Japanese dishes including Oyakodon and Katsudon in lunch menu which you don't typically find in Cape Town. The dinner menu is a bit pricy though. By the way they don't open on Sundays. I tried to edit the opening hours but failed.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Fujiyama. My favourite is the delicate tofu dish - can you see the butterfly effect of the bonito flakes? The pork ramen was the best Ramen we've had in Cape Town. Chef makes his own plum wine - a sour sweet drink to savour. Beef Dumplings - a must. The decor is simple. There are no pretty good views and the restaurant is a bit dark inside. There's a parking lot opposite the restaurant - and they are unreasonably pricey in the evening- we paid R50 for parking less than 3 hours but I suppose it is town and there was no free street parking available - being a Friday night.

The beef dumplings warmed my heart and soul. The pork ramen, with inhouse noodles is delicious. To me, the perfect texture, glistening in pure heaven with the most delightful chewiness in every bite. The pork, with a blow-torched sear perfectly melting in your mouth. Along with all the sprouts, black sesame seeds, green onions and a rich deep broth, that every human would be truly satisfied with. A definite must of your culinary calendar. Solid 8/10. #AlwaysRoomForImprovement

There are mixed reviews about Fujiyama, but I have FANTASTIC food every time I eat here. Highly recommend you try their chef’s selection or set menu’s, Japanese food is not only sushi and the set menus give you a great glimpse into Japanese cuisine. Don’t expect top notch service, but the food definitely makes up for it!

Authentic Japanese cuisine and very welcoming chef! We ordered two ramens - miso and pork, and both were delicious. Absolutely recommended!

We came for dinner on Monday night and absolutely loved the authentic Japanese dining experience at Fujiyama restaurant. In a city such as a Cape Town that seems to have developed a real appetite for Japanese food, I would highly recommend this place. There aren’t as many frills, but it’s the real deal. I haven’t had such good cold soba with tempura prawn and vegetables since my last trip to Japan - it really hit the spot. The sashimi was also extremely fresh and well prepared by the owner himself. PS There was an open sign on the gate. The restaurant may appear closed but the gate is just closed due to security - ring the doorbell and someone will come welcome you in.

40 mins for ramen (only 2 tables), over 50 Mins for tempura. Ramen is not good and tempura is overpriced. Not recommended.

Best Authentic Japanese traditional restaurant in South Africa! The restaurant owner is very friendly. Recommend the plum wine, it's a homemade Japanese plum wine. Also highly recommend having Omakase ((in a Japanese restaurant) a type of meal consisting of dishes selected by the chef). This restaurant never disappoints me on my every visit!!

Great authentic Japanese, friendly staff, and good Saké.... Du.plings were on point. Don't go if you want fusions or westernized versions of Asian cuisine

First ate: 26 Nov 2022 Have been wanting to try this restaurant for ages. Was very excited because they have toro. The whole spot is very undercover. Blink and you will miss it. It’s the complete opposite of its highly polished neighbour Scala. And unlike Scala, the food is great! We ordered the assorted nigiri and the chicken teriyaki, and both were wonderful! I’m definitely going back for more toro. But the true highlight for us was the chef. He was a gentleman and a fantastic host. Recommended. 4.5 / 5

A beautiful, no nonsense, truly traditional restaurant, with a passionate owner wanting to display his culture. I love this place not only for the food, but chatting to the chef, he has a real drive to just make the truest food he can. A memorable experience for sure

Terrible and overpriced food. Had chicken skewers to start with - they were dry and tasteless. Then had beef dumplings - meat and odd colour and again.. absolutely no taste. Also lacks ambience

Arigatogozaimasu. It's a beautiful, tranquil Aesthetic traditional Japanese setting. Wonderful customer service and oishi food. Thank you to the kind Owner of this beautiful restaurant, Fujiyama.

What the restaurant lacks in ambience it makes up with flavourful food! The pork ramen was yummy (certainly one of the better ones in town) and came served in a generous sized bowl of ramen noodles and broth but could possibly do with an extra slice or two of the melt in your mouth pork. Service was somewhat inattentive, but certainly not terrible. It was also nice that the amiable owner/chef made an effort to engage us as to whether the food was to our liking. I will definitely go back to try other dishes.

Surprisingly good okonomiyaki, which reminded me of Osaka (although this one had chicken as there is no tako on the menu). Went in for lunch on a Saturday and was the only patron, not too shocking considering the restaurant is a little hidden away. There was a bit of an awkward feel being there alone especially because the food took a while to prepare (I was at least warned beforehand that the dish I ordered would take some time). But besides that, it was pretty decent.

Brilliant food and cute place. The owner came and spoke to us. He has been doing this for about 34 years and he use to have a bigger place but then COVID hit. Really nice man. We definitely enjoyed it.

Underwhelming. Very expensive, and the waitress wad completely out of her depth about the dishes. The food is okay, but definitely do not justify the prices.

Delicious, delicious food. Whilst decor is not affluent or trendy it IS tranquil and takes your mind way from the intensity of the city.

I can't give this restaurant a better review even if I want to. Its just very average. First the interior decor is awful and not appealing (very dark). The food was okay, not very special, just okay (that said I didn't taste all the food). I love Japanese food and I've lived in Japan for 3 years. The food in this restaurant wasn't close to the true Japanese experience (on top of that it is very expensive). But all in all it was good.
