Really pretty part of the city but a lot of street sellers who are very persistent and often annoying. The traffic there is terrible and nobody respects the traffic lights so it's kind of dangerous.

(Translated by Google) The Camellón de los Mártires is a tribute to the heroes of the Independence of the New Kingdom of Granada (Colombia) in the year 1810-1811 from the Spanish crown and who, after absurd internal struggles between patriots and royalists (Patria Foba), they ended up shot in 1816 by Pablo Morillo (El Pacificador), in the reconquest of New Granada, considering them traitors to Spain. In this square they shot nine well-known patriots in the liberating deed and many other patriots, who were not so visible figures, but who contributed to the independence of Cartagena in the year 1811. The busts and two plaques with the names rest in the place of those who were shot in this square. This extensive square is located in the middle of the Centennial Park, the Clock Tower, Los Pegasos Pier and the Convention Center. The site has some deteriorated benches and graffiti that detracts from its beauty and visually impoverishes the place.

(Translated by Google) Cartagena is beautiful and at the same time that beauty is closely related to a tragic historical content, as is the case (to give an example) of El Camellón de los Mártires. Before Pablo Morillo's siege in 1815 there were several market buildings, these were demolished by the Peacemaker and the scaffold was raised there to shoot the 9 martyrs on February 24, 1816. For this reason the ones seen in marble were made by the sculptor Felipe Moratilla and donated by the Cuban merchant Francisco Balmaceda, were placed in this rectangular passage in 1886 and since then have been called Camellón de los Mártires.
