Awesome place to spend the weekend, 10 min drive from Covilhã, 10/10 breakfast complete with pretty much everything one would want. Huge garden with lots of seating space including hammocks and a pool to freshen up.

What an exciting hotel! I knew the ruined building from childhood days and was perplexed to see here now again a hotel. Of course, an overnight stay here was mandatory. The hotel has a very special charm thanks to its history. Highly comfortable rooms and a very nice local, rich breakfast and not just this typical continental breakfast. A real pleasure here. The excursions to the mountains are great, Covilha itself has everything you need and it's easy to get there. See you again soon.

We stay at Pousada in a winter rainy day and it was superb! We truly enjoyed the comfort of the Pousada. The rooms are spacious, warm and with an amazing view! The bed is huge and extremely comfortable. Swimming pool and spa facilities are a great plus! Teresa and Ines gave a proper warm welcome at the Pousada! Also thank you for the support from Soraia and Xavier. The breakfast was great! A lots of variety and quality. Probably one of the best breads that I had ever tasted. Luis Jose from the restaurant shared with us about the place to buy the amazing bread, thank you! Delicious. Definitely a place to be back!

The hotel reminds me of Wes Anderson’s “Grand Budapest”, with bright salmon colors and a palatial style. I love it. All the rooms have amazing views (we saw the sunrise over Covilhã every morning) and the garden is nice. The location works well for a nice visit around Serra da Estrela. Service was kind and friendly, genuinely caring about one’s wellbeing. The stay included a generous breakfast with quantity and variety (and mixed quality - nothing quite as good as it could be). The rooms themselves are a bit rundown (old furniture, broken hangers). Nothing meaningful for my taste. The one inconvenience was good at night. We have a 4 year old that goes to bed at 7:30. So the only available options for her were sandwiches at the bar (which is unnecessarily pricey). Overall, I wouldn’t mind at all staying here again. Tip: don’t forget to bring a swimming cap if you want to use the indoor pool. It will save you five bucks!

We had reserved a turret view room for 3 nights but never got to use it because the hotel failed to inform us that there was a road race the day we were to arrive and also the next!!! After driving 5 hours we arrived at a police road block and were informed that the road was closed until 8:00 pm and also the entire next day. We were forced to drive back the way we came for 125 km to the Pousada Viseu Who treated us royaly. We got Avery weak apology the next day from some manager inferring that we had been sent an email. NOT!! And failed to acknowledge that they never informed us of this yearly race when we made our reservations and failed to follow up on the mysterious warning email when we never responded. We wanted 5 hours of driving and 250km due to this hotels incompetence.

Nothing close to the hotel, very isolated, great view point. The room we got had strong smell of dust, the interior design of the place is old and felt like an old hospital. The garden around is big and beautiful. 2 great pools, one is wormed but has a strong smell of bleach. The food is very expensive and dosent tast so good. Hate when serving bread and olive in the side without asking and then charge for It.

A bit expensive but worth the money. Rooms are clean, everything is in good condition and the beds are very comfortable. Breakfast and dinner are great, employees are friendly, and their covid-19 response is good. Their garden is great, a lot of space, a fantastic view, plenty of tables and chairs. The outdoor swimming pool is really small, but usually not very crowded. The building itself is very pretty and has an interesting history. The hotel is at the border of the Serra da Estrela geopark, which is absolutely stunning. Definitely worth a visit.

Incredible hotel. Once upon a time a sanatorium for railway workers, this dog-friendly, iconic hotel is very comfortable and stylish. Spa, indoor and outdoor pool, games room, spacious bar and a nice restaurant for a special meal (or if you can't be bothered to drive for dinner). Breakfast is plentiful. Staff is very polite and attentive. We got an upgrade + cake & bubbly as a birthday surprise. We couldn't praise this place more.

On its own, a long way up a mountain road this is a beautiful experience. We have a dog, which normally excludes us from most hotels, but the welcome was heartfelt from the hotel management. The entrance for cars seemed a bit scary (on a bend ) but parking was easy. The room exuded calm, tall ceiling, big space, huge windows overlooking the garden, and beyond to fabulous views. Given that our normal experience is views of the bins this took our breath away. So close to easy or long walks this is definitely a place to return to for a special occasion

The hotel plus the scenery was exquisite, my only dislike was the food served in the restaurant. They should have a well trained chef for this type of hotel. The source material wasn’t good and they nothing to make it better.

Can be very cold and windy. Very long, slow check in / check out process; reception not in a hurry at all. Good views from rooms.

This newly renovated 1936 hospital, has become open to the public as a hotel in 2020. Gorgeous hotel, with beautiful brand new rooms, all inclusive amenities for a single price: indoor pool, outdoor pool, spa, breakfast, game room. The territory of the hotel is amazing for calm, fun and is so big that you always have your own space. From there, you can easily go to the natural parc.

Of all the four PESTANA hotels I've been to, this one is the best. Very nice hotel location.

The hotel is flawless, and the views are breathtaking! It's the perfect place if you want to relax and be in touch with nature. They have a good variety of food, for breakfast and even if you want to have lunch or dinner, all delicious. The only con would be the location, you will need a car to get there, but it is absolutely worth it!

The Pousada group does not disappoint. This property is located in a breathtaking location and the staff is warm, friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless and the bed was comfortable. Extra pillows were supplied when requested and arrived quickly and with a smile. The breakfast buffet was ample and of the highest standard. There were many options available for all tastes and dietary requirements. Thank you for a great stay

A stunning building overlooking Covilhã that seems to be straight out of a fantasy movie. The service is impecable, and with a game room, a spa, a pool and a bar, the stay at the hotel is very enjoyable. The location is also fabulous, as it's about 15 minutes away from Covilhã and the very top of Serra da Estrela. The turret rooms are spacious and comfortable, but rather simple, and the view may be blocked by trees (which for us was not at all an inconvenience). The heating system is old and can become a bit noisy every now and then. The bathroom didn't seem to have proper ventilation installed, although it was unclear whether the system was just faulty at the time of our stay. An overall very pleasant stay. The downsides are not enough to prevent us from coming again!

The building is an old tuberculosis hospital, from the 30s, designed by Cottinelli Telmo, one of the best architects of the time. It was renovated by Souto Moura, one of the best of this time, and Pritzker award winner. Amazing landscape, worth a visit.

Stayed here for Easter. Beautiful place, amazing view from the balcony in the room. Nice location, close drive to the hikes. Check in and out very smooth, staff very helpful.

Interesting place! This hotel is based on a medical facility from the 40ies and especially during off season, you still experience that flair. Nice spacious rooms, pretty good restaurant (for dinner) - too far away from town to have dinner somewhere else - except you want to drive.

Perfect place for vacation if you are looking for silence and you are mountains lover:) Great view, green park with sunbeds, two swimming pools and helpful staff. Great restaurant. We enjoyed few dinners there. For breakfast I would add some fresh vegetables like slices of tomatoes or lettuce. Anyway I really appreciate fresh bread and local cheese!

Overall, the hotel was very nice. Room was small but the amazing views made up for it. Breakfast was good with nice breads and cheeses. The staff at the front desk seemed harried but tried hard to help. The garden is wonderful and, as I am a bird watcher, had a lot of birds. Bar prizes are a little excessive. The local gin went for EUR 14 a pop; they sold bottles of it in the lobby for EUR 24.00.

I had stayed at this Pousada in 2015, a mere one year after it opened, and my impressions of my short 3 nights stay were excellent. I repeated the experience this month, again for a short stay during the week, and, again, I had a most wonderful time. Excellent location, peace and quiet, large, comfortable room with a great bed, great attentive and friendly service (from housekeeping to management), great food (I recommend the very regional 'arroz de zimbro'!). And, of course, all this in a superbly refurbished, repurposed building (if you love Architecture, then this is a 'must see' and surely a 'must stay'). I definitely won't wait another 7 years to repeat the experience. Kudos to everybody and thank you!

spectacular guesthouse. it was a former tuberculosis treatment hospital in the 1940s and 1970s for railroad workers. it has a beautiful architecture .. I have a criticism, the restaurant did not have the quality and the value was exaggerated.
