Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) is the leading postgraduate medical institution in the country. Undoubtedly the best doctors of the country are here, and the best services of the country are also here. It was formerly known as PG Hospital. Assalamu Alaikum. dear chairman sir, I am a very old patient in your hospital. Today I have been treating here for about 5 years. In May 2021, I gave birth to my baby at BSMMU. That baby died for some reason. Now I am pregnant again. Today I went to see a doctor .But your doctor's behavior is so bad that what can I say. Today I came out of your doctor's room crying .The mistake that can easily get your claim denied is to fail. The mistake that can easily get your claim denied is to failBecause he was sitting in front of me, he insulted me with dirty language today. Again, sitting in room 303 on the 3rd floor of building no. Many patients leave the hospital immediately for these usesAnd those who enter on the 3rd floor also behave very badly with everyone. The only thing they all say is that they will misbehave if they don't feed us, we should go to another hospital .Now I urge our esteemed Chairman Sir to tell them to refrain from doing all these things, because this is a hospital built in the name of the father of our nation. Don't slander him .

How dare she is?? 😡 I want to report this Doctor to the higher authority of Hospital Administration and Management. If anyone knows how to do please share with me. Besides education, the university plays the vital role of promoting research activities in various discipline of medicine. Since its inception, the university has also been delivering general and specialized clinical service as a tertiary level healthcare center. BSMMU campus has 5 Main multiple-floor buildings (A,B,C,D,E) Blocks & Outdoor-1,2 & Cabin Block Building. All of which house a variety of academic, medical, and residential spaces. BSMMU has an academic library known as BSMMU Central Library, and a digital library. The university publishes a peer-reviewed medical journal, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Journal. From 2010, many of the medical and public health colleges/institutes have become affiliated to BSMMU. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the much-awaited Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Super Specialized Hospital on 14 September 2022, first of its kind in the country, aiming to provide specialised treatment at a cheaper cost. With state-of-the-art equipment and modern operation theatres, the hospital will provide treatment to all critical patients referred by any public or private hospital, or a physician. Some 5,000-8,000 patients will receive outdoor services at the hospital. This specialised hospital will be an alternative option for many Bangladeshis opting to go abroad for treatment. The hospital will have 750 beds. There will also be 14 ultra-modern operation theatres, a 100-bed Intensive Care Unit, a 100-bed emergency unit, six VVIP and 22 VIP cabins, and 25 deluxe cabins. The specialised services include bone marrow transplant, gene therapy, and robotic surgery. There will also be six designated centres for particular medical needs, while each ward will have eight beds. The six designated centres include those for specialised autism, maternal care and childcare, emergency medical care, hepatobiliary, gastroenterology, cardiology and cerebrovascular diseases, and nephrology at the primary stage. Around 1,500 healthcare staffers including 300 physicians will provide services to the patients in the hospital. Every activity of the hospital will be done through an automated system, and patient data would be recorded for 100 years. This project was taken up in 2016 with a view to increasing BSMMU's capacity by providing treatment for general and complex diseases, establishing a "safety net hospital" through modernisation of medical care and management, and ensuring skill development of professionals. Of the total cost of Tk 1,561 crore, South Korean government's Economic Development Cooperation Fund has provided Tk 1,000 crore, while the government allocated Tk 330 crore and BSMMU contributed Tk 170 crore.

We have always known that the responsibility of nurses and doctors in government hospitals is very low. Especially in this hospital, life ends while running from floor to floor. Among them, again the nurses' bad words. Everyone comes here in danger. But the nurses and assistant doctors here take advantage of people's danger and speak angrily on them. For middle class and lower class people like us, government hospital is a kind of blessing. But the service of nurse doctors here is very bad and dangerous. Humble request to the authorities to increase the service and responsibility policy in these government hospitals. Especially increasing the number of ICU beds and wards and the number of seats. We have to admit that the service activities of government hospitals are improving a lot from the past to the present day. Hopefully this improvement will continue.🫡🫡🫡.

Very spacious hospital but totally unplanned and not maintained properly. You have to run to several places to do a test. Most of the places is very dirty. It's like you come to a hospital to get better, if you come here condition might get worse. No proper parking facilities for the patients. The departments are scattered all over the compound.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University popularly known as PG Hospital, is the first medical university in Bangladesh. Before becoming a university, its name was Institute of Post Graduate Medicine and Research. It is located in Shahbagh, Dhaka. Right next to it there are two another institution these are 'Bangladesh National Meuseum' and 'Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders (BARDEM)'. The Institute of Post Graduate Medicine and Research (IPGMR) was established in Dhaka in 1965 to provide postgraduate courses in medical education. Although responsible for post-graduate teaching and research, this institution did not have degree-granting powers. It was entrusted to Dhaka University. Dhaka University used to offer MBBS degree in many medical colleges including IPGMR program. On April 30, 1998, it was converted into a full-fledged medical university through a parliamentary ordinance. Although the MBBS course was introduced, the institution earlier offered only post-graduate education. The new university was named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This university has a hospital which is equipped to provide quality treatment. The university has a total of five multi-storied buildings; Block A, B, C, D and Cabin Block. Education, research and treatment run parallel in this medical university.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has become a familiar destination for me due to the frequent visits I've made, and I've consistently found their medical treatment to be of a high standard. A recent and critical admission involving my wife's pregnancy complications at 41 weeks showcased the remarkable expertise of the Obstetrics (OBS) department. The doctors' skillful execution of a necessary C-section not only saved both my wife and baby but also left us deeply touched by their compassionate care during the four-day recovery period. Moreover, in dealing with the added complexity of my wife's high glucose levels and the potential risk to our newborn, the Neonatology department's attentive monitoring proved invaluable. Their unwavering dedication to safeguarding our baby's health during those four days was evident and reassuring. However, it's important to acknowledge some shortcomings within BSMMU. Notably, the hospital's capacity occasionally falls short of meeting patient demand, resulting in extended wait times and potential inconveniences. Additionally, there have been instances of staff and nurse behavior that did not meet the expected standards of friendliness and empathy. In short, BSMMU stands as a top-class hospital in Bangladesh, offering exceptional medical care. While there are areas for improvement, such as expanding capacity and enhancing staff behavior, the overall quality of care and my positive experiences make it a valuable healthcare institution in the region.
