Big disappointment and very unprofessional to both the check in responsible and the reservation department! Booked a two rooms suite for a staycation in Penang after checking the raving reviews and photos of the hotel via a booking site. Arrived at the hotel, checked in and realized we were given a two standard rooms with a connecting door, with zero explanation. Went downstairs again, told off the receptionist and asked for further clarification. She then explained no water supply in the entire city therefore she offered us the standard room instead. I was quite shocked by this level of treatment considering we booked a suite and no efforts in explaining the situation. ( we later found out from other hotel that the water has resumed its supply since two days ago). Then the receptionist reached out to the reservation department and again no efforts in trying to solve the issue and the only solution offered was the standard room with the suite room charges. Poor little receptionist for lacking of proper training in solving such issues and when we demanded to see a senior manager and was told that she was the only person available and on-site. We finally left the hotel with major disappointment and finally asked for a full compensation in return. Further more, we wasted the entire afternoon for a very unpleasant experience and a total waste of time. I wish the hotel management would actually take this comment seriously and makes suitable adjustments. Such a waste to see such beautiful facilities being handled in such low level of hospitality.

This is probably the best hotel (range under RM200) that I’ve ever stay in Penang. It’s very well designed, layout of the room is smart, lots of storage. Love the fact that it’s fully carpeted even thought it’s under RM200, quality of the details are almost like 4-star hotel. Well-done design team. 👍🏻Love the shower, water flow is strong and comfortable, I wanna bring that shower head home! Really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely come back again. 🥰🥰🥰

The hotel is clean, new and modern! The buffet and swimming pool is located on the 2 highest floors of the hotel and the view up there will make you go wow for sure (view of downtown Georgetown on one side and the Strait of Malacca on the other)! They also have this automated parking garage for hotel guests (which is 27 floors high 🤯) where you can park your vehicles inside with no extra charge 👈 This is really cool, whoever is gonna stay here must try it at least once! I really enjoyed my stay here.. the view at the top was the best part! The price of the room here was also very reasonable.. about RM250 a night for a slightly small but modern and cozy room when I stayed there.

A lovely hotel in a quiet part of Georgetown. The rooms were small but was cosy and had all amenities. Very quiet. The gym room and rooftop closes at 9pm which was a bit disappointing :( . The breakfast had a good spread and the breakfast room had a beautiful view of the sea. Enjoyed our stay!

Stayed here for a few days. To be very honest, the room decoration was beautiful and the room was clean including a new carpet, new sofa, and new furniture, of course because it is a new hotel. However, there are certain negative parts me and my family went through. FIRST, since day one the pillows have had an armpit odour even after I requested to change the pillow cover on the second day. SECOND, I believe the room charges I have paid for includes housekeeping or room service as well. But why does this hotel only do room service upon request? I did request room service on a daily basis except for the last day upon check out. There was a day on Saturday where I requested room service in the morning, but the staff came after several hours of continuous follow up with the operator. I asked the staff who came into my room later on. Both of them mentioned that the hotel is lacking staff, ONLY TWO WORKERS have to do room service of 150++ rooms in the hotel and they looked so exhausted. I do not blame them, it is the poor management! You only want money coming in, but give lousy service to customers? THIRD, the parking is supposed to be efficient compared to conventional parking. However, it causes customers to keep waiting to take out their car until new cars go in.

This has to be the best hotel I've stayed at in Penang. The room and toilet are very clean and cozy. And surprisingly this is the only hotel I've ever stayed at with good quality shampoo, finally no dry and tangled hair. The parking was using the Japanese lift technology which was truly an experience. This will definitely be my go-to hotel whenever I come to Penang! Wished I discovered it sooner

We enjoyed our week stay at Ozo! The place is strategically located within walking distance to nearby attractions and restaurants. Hotel offers various amenities including laundry service, breakfast, cafe, parking, daily house cleaning, exercise room and pool. There are computers and a conference room (although not working at the time) to be used for work. The rooms are spacious and modern with the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on and blackout curtains. The pool has a great view overlooking the city. Staff were kind and we were able to drop our bags off early. Overall a great stay!

The hotel looks pretty new and funky. Room is reasonably spacious, layout is practical and well lit. Staying at high floor has nice sea view, depending which direction is the room. Check in lobby is at level 20, there is a chill area with awesome view.

I would have given the hotel a 4 or 5 star rating if not for the hotel policies and incidents that happened during our stay. The room itself is fine - clean, comfortable and a wide range of domestic and international channels are available. Counter on level 1 is manned most of the time and the staff manning the counter are friendly. However, when we first checked in - the female staff at the check-in did not inform us that housekeeping would only be done for rooms upon request. The normal practice for hotels is that rooms are automatically cleaned unless the do not disturb sign is turned on. To our shock, our room was not cleaned on the second day, towels were not replaced etc. and we only learnt of this practice after seeking clarification from the staff on duty, only because we were not informed of this at all. We had to obtain items such as fresh towels, mineral water, toilet paper and a new tissue box from the staff at night and bring the items to our room ourselves. Secondly, toiletries were not properly stocked when we first checked into the room. The tissue box was almost depleted and there was no toilet paper. We had to request for the toilet paper and even so, the staff told us that they could only give us one roll each day (similar to rationing), which was shocking. Thirdly, the pool (on the 22nd floor) is only open from 7am to 7pm/8pm, which would be an issue for guests who wish to use the pool at a later time, although this is not a major problem for me. I read the positive reviews online and decided to stay with OZO, only to be feeling rather disappointed by the end of our stay here. There's some disconnect between the reviews online and the actual experience which I cannot understand at all.

Bed and pillows are at good quality. Very comfortable to lay on. Clean white sheets. No soap in the soap dispenser and only found out when already on the shower at night time. So very inconvenient to call the hotel. If you give amenity like this (refill bottle) better make sure it's always full for next customer please.

One of the BEST HOTEL we've ever stay. We have stayed here for 3 days 2 nights. We love this hotel because: 1)The Front Desk staff, Restaurant Staff and House Keeping staff are so friendly. All of them are polite and good manner, helpful and good service. They make us feel so glad. Thank you. 2) The Room very clean and new, big and nice sea view from the room. I love the room so much especially the bed is so comfortable. Once we sleep on the bed, we feel we don't want to go out, just stay at this hotel😜. 3)Good location. This hotel is near to everyway that I want to go. Easy to walk around. Highly recommended. Thanks to all the staffs and the Hotel Manager. All the best. If visit to Penang definitely will come back to this hotel again.

Room and view is great! Especially for its price point. Found it pretty weird that we were denied request for new towels... mentioned that we are only allowed 1 set per day.. ?!? We got a shock when we came back to a messy room. However, they managed to adhere to the request and came within the hour to clean up the room and gave us the fresh towels. For future guests at OZO. Please take note that you need to call the reception to request for housekeeping service. Its is on request basis.

The room is clean, spacious and has plenty of plug points. We had a sprawling view of the city and Komtar Tower. Not a fan of the shower stall, a bit slippery and it is quite shallow so water may overflow quickly if the drain is slightly clogged. The rooftop pool is cold, and even colder when you are out of the pool because it’s perpetually windy since the building is about 30 stories high! You get a view of the sea from up here. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel so can’t comment on that however I do want to mention that they have a lounge area which is great to sit and chill if you’re feeling claustrophobic or bored in the room. The hotel has provided board games, some reading materials and some simple toys. Location is ideal, walkable to the Chow Rasta market and food options are aplenty in all directions. Only qualm was that the room turnover rate was painfully slow when we were there during the school holidays in December. Understandable given the peak season, but we were still frustrated since we were travelling with young children.

Clean and modern designed room with really comfortable bed and pillows. First time having a room with bed not facing the TV, but later found it can be swivel to face several angle. Also find it odd the wardrobe is inside the bathroom. But overall, it's a nice hotel in a great location.

Unsatisfied stay overall, didn't worth the price at all! 1. Room is not clean and dusty 2. Aircond is not cold, only getting cold at midnight 3. Water pressure in the shower is bad, really feel sad after a tiring day 4. For the multi-tier parking, you have to leave all of your bags otherwise they don't allow you to enter to park your car. But they didn't provide a table to put our bags so we have no choice to put our stuffs on the floor! 5. Check in process is so slow! Probably the worst '4 star hotel I've ever stayed. Please avoid this hotel. You can get better hotel nearby.

Service was kind of non-existent with lack of proper communication & processes. Air-conditioning in the Ground floor reception area was not turned on for some weird reasons. Was downgraded to the original room we booked at the hotel ‘s decision on our second night. Air-conditioning in the rooms was quite weak and we had to persistently push the staff to replace the DIRTY & DUSTY air-conditioning filter in the room which got my friend sick! Drainage was CHOCKED in the downgraded room we received! As for the rooms , it was ok but some of the furnishings do feel somewhat flimsy like the shower head with the O shaped design. Gym equipment is definitely one of the best in class although let down by a tight space on the rooftop of the hotel and the mediocre service standards mentioned earlier. Location is good but in summary I definitely won’t consider staying here again for the experience encountered.

Great place to stay, room are clean and service are great. I love they place the wardrobe inside rest room very convenient. I stay at level 20 the view are great i can see sea view. The only thing is the level one lobby is very hot if only they can close the door and on aircon so that we won't sweat while waiting for grab car

This hotel has a serious issue with housekeeping. We stayed 3 nights and they never came to clean our room while we were out everyday besides one time. The one time they did, it was very poorly done in like 5 mins. They don’t deep clean. We found multiple hairs in the shower from previous guests and mold all over the bathroom. They left our wet piled up towels on the floor, didn’t clean our cups or empty the trash. The elevators take so long to get anywhere within the building. The pool area needs furniture. There’s just a few long chairs with no cushions or tables. The breakfast buffet is mediocre. When I called to complain about these issues they don’t really care.

The room was fine and size was good. The location is great too. The rooftop pool gives a good view over the city. But our bed sheets and towels had stains... The laundry service was not available during our stay. The staff is kind but not overly helpful. Minor improvements could have a big impact. All in all solid hotel.

i love this place! super comfortable rooms, spacious and good location. my room was on the 15th floor and facing the city, which was gorgeous. friendly staff, from the security guards to the receptionists to the housekeeping. one negative would be the cleanliness of the pool. there were black specs of dust floating around in the pool (very visible) and when i leaned up against the wall towards the infinity pool and towards the back to relax, my white swimsuit got stained with algae:( time to clean the pool or have regular maintenance. however, this does not stain my experience at ozo in any way. good proximity to all the attractions. will definitely stay here again when i come back to penang!

I would have given 5 stars if the bathroom would have been clean. We found many hair here and there and we supposed that no one cleaned this room before we arrived. Beside this, swimming pool is great, gym room is OK (although quite small) and breakfast is good. Bed king size and comfy

A lovely surprise. The dynamics of construction and innovative designs have made it possible to present something spectacular with minimal space and resources. Excellent check-in, parking uses the Japanese style deck lifts. Rooms are brand new, everything works and the pool is awesome. Close to almost everything and place is very quiet too. The bed and pillows ❤️👍🏼👍🏼 i slept like a baby. Thank you guys.

This is a great hotel is a great spot. The building and facilities are all new and fabulous. The rooftop pool is stunning (although closes the instant it rains which is a little disappointing) The breakfast really good and the view is great too. My room was spacious, super clean and I stayed in the most basic room - bonus that the PowerPoints were quite flexible on the socket. Staff were incredibly friendly and shared spaces also really well thought out. They even printed a document for me and had excellent English and customer service. Some negatives - if you want the view you need to pay extra for one of the fancy rooms to have a high level room - it’s around 20 floors. The shower head was a bit odd in the direction it faced but excellent water pressure. Worth noting cash deposit of 100RM was required for me. The biggest con for me was that the aircon was quite bad - took forever for the room to get cool and certainly ever reached the 18 degrees which was the lowest I could set it to. So it was hot when I was sleeping. I would 100% recommend staying here while in Penang.

The bedroom is excellent! The bed is very comfortable, and there's thick shade to make the room pitch black. The Wifi Internet is fast and stable everywhere, making it comfortable to do online meeting. I have an excellent sleep! The morning breakfast is delicious with various food to pick. The view from the gym and breakfast is stunning.

Perfect hotel! Many famous eatery are within walking distance. Window view is sea view. Soft and comfy bed. Nice and minimalist style interior. Quality facilities. Plus there is a fancy vertical parking. One of the best hotel I have ever been to. Its facilities are almost 5 stars grade, cleanliness tip top. Love it a lot! Price: (Weekday) About RM200 per room for 2.

the reason I give only 3 start is due to the mattress is soft i end up hurting my back for 2night of stay. I a guys 176cm weight at 85kg. I stay in this hotel twice. First one was given king size bed and the latest one is twin bed (single). Please consult a certified orthopedic on the suitable mattress that should be use in your hotel. Breakfast is OK for me. Not many choices but acceptable by my standards. F&B crew fast clearing dirty plates.

Brand new hotel in Georgetown, 4Stars level with contemporary design. Roof top infinity pool was awesome with sea view, but you can see 360 degree view of Georgetown on the whole floor. From gym, we can see city and Penang bridge views. My room was upgraded to sea view and bigger room, thanks! Membership of Onyx can give benefits for guest and online direct booking. Buffet breakfast is simple but tasty, Prebook through Reception to get in house guests price. Parking is available. Very recommended!

I booked this hotel from Agoda.com. it only cost me RM140/night. This is brand new hotel in the town (2020). It's super clean, high tech (auto elevated parking), very very friendly staff and situated in the heart of George Town. Great value for money and will definitely recommend it to my friends/family who visit to Penang.

The parking is wonderful, 24H. Once you step in into the hotel, the smell is very welcoming and calming. Room wise, good enough for 2 pax and if with kids still ample space. Bed and pillow is very fluffy. This is my first time and I'm not hesitate to check in again here. Quite close with eateries as well.

The hotel is in walking distance from all the hotspots like the old centre. The room was good, and had all facilities, though the windows could not open. The hotel lacks a bar, which would complement the rooftop pool very well. The parking elevator is super cool!

Modern new hotel sand and they have clean rooms as well. Easy to navigate from the hotel to the tourists area. Check-in was fast as well as checking out. Arrived at the hotel 10pm the lady receptionist was non-accommodative and doesn’t explain anything, need to ask her like the time and location of the buffet breakfasts, which floor is the pool and the gym. In contrast to the guard station below they were all very helpful and friendly.

Very nice and conveniently located hotel. Five stars for the staff, the view and the pool! The breakfast was alright but didn't give the delicious local food justice; there was also no coffee on our second day so a bit of a disappointment. However, the staff were exceptional and we received a very good service from them. A very special thank you goes to the receptionist Roslie - we really appreciate your help and friendliness! (Very sorry if I misspelled your name!)

OZO Review - comfortable room with basic amenities - the check in process was smooth and appreciate that they let us checked in half an hour earlier - disappointed with the overall breakfast experience. the breakfast is until 11am. we arrived at 10.20am ish and the breakfast spread were almost empty. the salad bar was already gone. i do think that as long as it not 11am, every guest should have the same breakfast experience. - the pool is lovely with great view of penang - Id recommend the staff to be more welcoming. Except for the front desk, they are all nice and soft spoken.

Despite the mixed reviews mentioned by other hotel guests below, my 3-night stay at OZO was a pleasant one. We stayed in a two bedroom suite which was located on a high floor facing the sea. The rooms were generally clean (met my expectations at least) and comfortable. The staff at the reception were also friendly, helpful and able to accommodate my requests. There was a minor technical glitch with my hotel card’s lift access to my floor but it was rectified quickly after alerting the staff. Overall, I would recommend the hotel for the accessibility to George Town, relatively new facilities and affordable price point.

This is a relatively new hotel built in 2020 as I read. The deco is modern and the bedding is very comfortable with the carpet and furnishings as good as it was 3 years ago. I would recommend this place not only for it's design and comfort but also for it's location which is situated within walking distance to many good eateries and places of interest in Georgetown or else it's always a quick ride on ride hailing Grab. Recommend.

Nice hotel for the area but no bar to relax in. You take your life in your hands to visit anywhere on foot, such as little India or the surrounding areas, as there are little or no pavements to walk on. Crossings are there just to keep the painters in a job as nobody takes any notice whatsoever. Beware of the copious amounts of motorcyclists who are all apparently colour blind and disregard all traffic lights. Back to the hotel, the rooms are lovely and you can get a decent view. Breakfast is nice with plenty on offer too.

Newly built hotel with comfortable room. Breakfast spread was good. Lobby is at level 20 with nice view and pool is at 21 with even better view. Gym is abit disappointing as it is very small and under equipped. Do note the car park is elevator style and not those ramp up. The location is quite convenient with coffee shops and near red garden/ blue mansion is a must visit.

We really enjoyed our staycation at OZO Penang. It's definitely worth the price. Staff were friendly and helpful (early check-in was possible). The room was clean and comfortable, but unfortunately there were some yellowish stains on the pillows. We loved the interior design of the hotel (simple and modern). The sea view from the restaurant was great. The inclusive breakfast buffet also worth giving a try.

  • 5/5 Deborah Y. 1 year ago on Google
Very well thought out hotel - the devil is in the details and OZO has definitely exceeded expectations! Check in was a breeze and I dare say it has one of the best reception views I’ve ever seen - of the whole Penang island and Komtar at Level 20. We got the city view and loved it. Appreciated the fact that the wardrobe space was in the bathroom itself, the shower flooring reminded me of the ones in Tokyo and the sink mirror lighting is perfect for those fussy about ensuring your foundation is well blended (iykyk). Towels were thick and even had an OZO label on its stitch, and I love myself a hotel that comes with room slippers considering the bedroom is partially carpeted. Finally a hotel where the TV actually works and can be adjusted to the bed’s direction so you can watch the news in bed, sheets were clean and comfy, plug points are strategically placed. Didn’t have time to use the amenities - the infinity pool had a lovely view of the sea and the gym was well equipped and maintained with a good set of weights. On our final check out day, our flight was late in the evening but the hotel staff was kind enough to let us use the gym shower to freshen up before heading to the airport which speaks volume of their hospitality. Thank you OZO for an amazing stay!

I don't like cleaning my room. There are a lot of hair on the floor and bed, and people who don't know under the sink have hair ties. I want you to clean it up. The location and the view are good. Breakfast is delicious and no bug.

Hotel room is modern, spacious and comfortable. I like the design. However, there are flaws. The shower head is loose and it’s difficult for me to target it to my body. I had to tighten it myself. Only 2 bottles of water bottle are complimentary. If u need more, it’s chargeable at RM2 for 500ml. Should have a water dispenser provided for guests at least at each level to refill their bottles. Called housekeeping, reception and room dining ( in fact called all 4 buttons on the room phone) but no response for 25 min. I just needed an ironing board. Had to call the hotel’s main line for that. During breakfast, I requested for a tea bag as I wanted my tea to be concentrated (having diarrhoea. The staff at the restaurant said that she can give me but it will be charged to the room? Huh? I told her I didn’t even consume the tea bags in my room. Finally, she gave me a tea bag. Please don’t be too constipated with guests’ requests. It’s a no-frill hotel. Even though the room was comfortable, I don’t think I will stay in this hotel again.

This hotel exceeded my expectations. Some minor hiccups (empty shower gel container, housekeeping entering room by mistake) but the pros are plenty: fantastic views, nice interior design and use of space, clean, quite spacious room (fantastic use of space). Hands down this hotel has the best views compared to other 4 star hotels in georgetown. Didnt try the breakfast though. 100% recommended.

OZO Hotel's cleaning service is very poor. There are bits of hair all over the bathroom. When I visited another room, there was a strong smoke smell. The room is badly cleaned, with dust all over the place. Still, the beds are comfortable. There are limited varieties of food. There were many problems with my room, the staff would not even give us another room which is clean. Front desk staff are not friendly. Despite these factors, the room view is quite good. The location is near places like TOP Penang and little India. Other locations are a little further but still very accessible. Overall, I feel very disappointed and I think the hotel is a waste of money. Please visit other better hotels in Penang.
