There
are
no
words
to
describe
the
degree
of
frustration
I
experienced
during
my
first
visit
to
this
Hampton
Hilton
hotel
in
downtown
Houston.
The
next
day
of
our
arrival
this
hotel
was
hosting
hundreds
of
teenagers
taking
part
in
an
exchange
program
among
high
schools
of
different
countries.
In
our
floor,
two
rooms
were
assigned
to
part
of
this
group
of
young
people
and,
unluckily,
they
happened
to
be
just
besides
our
room.
They
kept
their
doors
open,
with
-at
times-
about
twenty
people
in
the
same
room,
more
than
ten
taking
the
elevator
at
the
same
time,
and
so
many
others
around
their
rooms
just
sitting
on
the
carpet
and
blocking
the
corridor.
It
was
already
past
9
pm
when
I
called
the
reception
asking
to
silence
them
somehow
and,
as
the
noise
persisted,
I
had
to
go
down
in
person
to
see
what
was
going
on.
There
were
many
youngsters
by
the
reception,
and
they
were
so
loud
that
we
had
to
shout
at
each
other
-the
receptionist
and
I-
just
to
discuss
the
situation.
I
was
told
they
were
all
over
the
hotel
and
that
my
request
for
another
room
would
be
useless.
I
made
the
point
in
telling
them
that
all
I
needed
was
a
room
far
away
from
the
elevators
as
the
traffic
was
certainly
higher
in
that
area,
since
the
young
people
were
constantly
moving
in
and
out.
This
is
what
the
receptionist
eventually
did:
he
assigned
a
new
room
for
us
at
a
different
floor
and
far
away
from
the
elevator,
so
my
daughter
and
I
could
finally
have
some
rest.
At
the
time
of
my
request
at
the
reception,
and
as
a
sort
of
an
excuse,
the
comment
was
made
to
me
there
was
no
way
to
avoid
this
situation.
I
do
not
believe
that,
since
nowadays,
we
have
the
technology
to
allocate
rooms
in
a
way
to
avoid
a
situation
like
this
going
out
of
control.
Even
worst,
by
no
caring
about
these
details,
the
hotel
management
has
made
an
implicit
choice
between
hosting
a
large
number
of
conflicting
customers
or
keeping
a
more
traditional
clientele
within
the
usual
comfort
norms.
This
is
how
I
hesitate
to
lodge
again
with
Hilton
and,
as
a
new

I
simply
do
not
want
to
make
use
of
a
prepaid
reservation
for
the
current
year
for
fear
of
spoiling
my
coming
Summer
vacation.
